Friend and I are starting a podcast but we don't have a computer to record too. If you have the money for this + 2 XLR mics, you can make a budget podcast sound amazing.
Only losing one star because it doesn't come with its own power cord. Had to buy that by itself.

The casing of the recorder has a rubbery texture but is firm like plastic which makes it have a good grip and doesn't scratch easily. The silver section on the top seems to be made of metal and overall, the mic is well-built.
I would definitely recommend this as it can be used to record vocals, ambiance, and Foley. And, having two XLR inputs and phantom power, it's capable of handling external mics such as Lav, shotgun, etc. that require phantom power.

Zoom H4n Pro is one of my most coveted sound recorders, as a professional audio video producer, it is of extreme value to me. Its handy design, with 2 XLR input is of great use when recording directly from the mixer in a concert. Great value for money. Only Flipside being the battery back up, it could have been better, on the normal mode of recording.

Snazzy unit, feel confident this will endure the elements and crew abuse. Zoom is a legend in the industry and after using this unit a few times now, I understand why it is an industry standard. A great recorder and super durable.

Great little unit that is intuitive, easy to use and exactly as described from other reviews. The core functions works well and the recording sounds great. Quick shipping from the seller was a bonus.

I am torn about this order, as I am quite happy with the recorder, but the Steinberger software that is included (Cubase LE) is absolutely terrible. Not only did the installation process take hours, but it crashed my computer before I even had a chance to use it. I then tried to install on another computer and the activation key would not work again. To be honest, the only thing worse than the software is the customer service that Steinberger provides.

Ich nutze ihn für Livekonzertmitschnitte. ich vermisse nichts, die internen Mics reichen völlig aus, ohne Mischpult dazwischen bekommt man auch die Atmosphäre mit drauf. Optional können 2 ext. Mics über XLR angeschlossen werden . Wave und mp3 Aufnahme wählbar, diverse manuelle Einstellungen , beim Aufnahmepegel gibts die,Eiinstellung "auto", sehr hilfreich. Die Aufnahme kann noch im Gerät geschnitten, und umbenannt werden. Es wird alles auf SD card gespeichert. Ich empfehle eine. Class 10 card mit ausreichend Kapazität. Die 2 GB card, die beiliegt, habe ich gleich weggelegt. Netzkabel vorhanden ( spart Akku) und ein Griff zum Anschrauben, wer ein Stativ mit mikrofonklemme nutzen möchte. Empfehlenswert ist es, sich den Windschutz dazuzubestellen , ein Schaumstoffschutz ist dabei.

I purchased the Zoom H4N pro last year and by February I had problems recording with the built-in mics. They have a constant loud buzz which I cannot seem to rectify. I have tried a couple of ways to solve the problem such as changing the batteries, trying the external mic at the back of the device, but to no avail. I have even searched online for a way to resolve.
It appears I cannot return the product either (warranty). I doubt that I will purchase this item or recommend it from being purchased.

I am using H4n pro recorder for last 1 year. I am using it for YouTube videos and it’s 👍 nice, records great quality. Though quality also depends on the mic 🎤 as well.
Overall satisfied with quality of product as well as the audio output. Only con I have experienced is that it eats up AA batteries quite quick.

Como grabadora ambiente es extremadamente sensible a los sonidos y poco direccional, captando todo tipo de ruido sin interés para la grabación final. Por este motivo la acabé vendiendo de segunda mano y comprando un micro rode de cañón para la reflex.

For those of us without much to spend, this model is as (all-around) good as it gets
-- It's as well known as it is well referred to, as well [I bought it for indie-docs and music recording].
My only three beefs with this model are: A) the tradicional volume button -- which badly interferes (if pressed) during the recording --, B) the 32gbs limit on the SD card reading and C) the lack of anything else in the package other than the recorder itself (and a pair of disposable batteries)
[whereas I really think it should at least include the USB connector and the AC adapter]
Other than that: the thing is golden!

I have two of these recorders. The Zoom H4n and the Zoom H4n Pro that I purchased off of Amazon and they are both exceptionally good units. Would highly recommend them. The live performance results can pretty much be transferred straight onto CD..

Habe lange nach einem passenden Gerät gesucht und hier genau das Richtige gefunden.
Leichtigkeit im Zugang zusammen mit guter Qualität ist für mich Grundvoraussetzung.
Hatte vor der Nutzung dieses Gerätes 1001 Probleme mit Nebengeräuschen und ähnlichem - trotz Profi-Equipment. Die Arbeit mit Tontechniker ist für mich im Alltag nicht realisier, die Arbeit mit Zoom ist effizient und die Resultate hochwertig. Das Gerät ist in jeder Hinsicht eine Empfehlung.

Love this thing so much.
I use it for field recordings and ambience recordings, and even to document my performances. It's just really useful, sturdy and one of my favourite purchases.
Wish the load time could be faster though, but that's a minor inconvenience.

Ordered it for my son who's in a Broadcast News program. He told me the sound quality is great, but the battery life is a bit short. A bit too expensive, but seems to be good quality.
