The Zoom recorder is a great unit for recording sound "on location". However, almost every time I start it up, within about 2 minutes, it freezes. The only way to fix it that has worked so far is to remove the batteries. Sometimes I need to do this multiple times. Very frustrating. But once it gets past that, it works very well.

The OS is terrible...jet lag to the moon. It came without usb cable! Plastic toy feeling. My Shure sm58 is heavier! The sound is pretty good.

Amazing product. I use this recorder for meeting and I can hear every detail clear as a bell. Just be sure to buy a compatable USB card. Check the product website first.

Why Amazon is asking for 'Thickness' review? Anyways, the device itself is working fine. Vendor though is not reliable. Didn't perform up to satisfaction with Phantom Power Mic.

Battery life absolutely sucks
Battery life absolutely sucks and had to buy AC adaptor separately with accessory kit which was way overpriced

I got this to use for my college projects, and it has amazing functions—extremely powerful mic.
Wish the buttons produce a sound captured by the very sensitive Microphone, but is very minimal and easy to edit.

Zoom tardo 4 años en sacar esta nueva versión y lo único que hizo fue pintarla de negro, tarda muchísimo en encender, la calidad de los micrófonos decente pero si aprietas algún botón o cualquier pequeño movimiento suena, son muy sensibles sí, pero es un problema de construcción que ya saben como resolverlo o disminuirlo por que sacaron un micrófono para el modelo superior con una especie de shockmount amortiguador, tiene entrada de tripie de cámara, cuando menos debería incluir su adaptador para tripie de microfono, arreglaron un problema que tenía el modelo anterior que se aflojaban y metían estática, o cuando menos hasta ahora no se ha presentado, no acepta SDXC, la batería dura poco, el usb sigue siendo mini usb y no provee alimentación, el cable de alimentación lo tienes que comprar por aparte, en un paquete que basicamente te venden cables y porquerías que si las tocas son muy muuuy baratas, aparte de que el cable es cortísimo y si le pones una extensión produce estatica, conectando XLR si usas un micrófono dinámico o micorofonos muy silenciosos como shure sm7b te va a dar ruido EIN, por que los preamplificadores si no son tan malos como otros, tampoco son los mejores pero si de todas formas vas a tener que comprar un fethead o un preamplificador para sacarle provecho puedes irte por un modelo de otra marca mas económico, si conectas jack de 3.5 mm no acepta TRRS osea de 3 lineas y la alimentación que tiene de 25 volts depende el microfonito te puede o no generar estática, si quieres conectar línea tienes que usar un atenuador de -20 db lo cual con todo lo que tienes que comprar extra, mejor te compras un modelo superior (que de todas formas tendrás que comprar preamp) o una mejor de otra marca que sea menos ruidosa, si eres músico y te llaman la atención las funciones de los amplis y las distorciones... a final son efectos digitales, podrías hacerlo mejor en la pc y tendrías más control y mejores efectos, si la quieres usar de interfaz, mejor comprante una uphoria hd, es mucho menos ruidosa y si la vas a ocupar para campo vete por una más barata de la competencia tascam (te vas a ahorrar el atenuador -20) y te compras el fethead, por que de todas formas lo necesitas, a mí me hubiera gustado devolverla pero se me paso el tiempo por el trabajo

still evaluating but sound quality seems ok, not as easy to use as my old Sony PCM -10. takes long time to boot and create and erase files. no internal memory and the 4 track and MTR modes not really useful to me ditto all the fx and S/p too many bells and whistles when all I really need is good two track stereo recording quick and easy, price point is right but I wonder will it hold up with years of use My old Sony lasted almost ten years before switches and buttons finally kicked. Battery life absolutely sucks and had to buy AC adaptor separately with accessory kit which was way overpriced. Hope I get to know and like this recorder eventually need something reliable and easy to use, also not great to use as an mp3 file player. I would buy Sony again if I could afford it tho' .

It's good but my power switch slider broke off and no low I can't use it, zoom support hasn't responded as of yet and this is required price of equipment for my college course

Por el precio puedes conseguir algo mejor

Llego bien
Si bien, tiene mejoras con la h2n que tengo, veo algunas deficiencias de grabación, yo no reomendaría comrpar este modelo si no pasar al h5, o bien, el h6 que graba maagistralmente, y lo digo sobre todo por el sonidod e entrada que tiene la h2n y la h5 y h6.

Es la mejor grabadora con la que he trabajado, excelente calidad, buenos materiales, no se resbala, portátil, es totalmente increíble, la he usado en conciertos, con linea directa, con los micrófonos de la misma, con shotgun, con lavalier, es simplemente perfecta, además se puede usar como grabadora de instrumentos con grandes efectos, como pedalera, y como interfaz de audio en PC o MAC, 10/10.

Tengo Tascam DR40, la zoom h4n (primera versión) y ahora esta versión pro y la verdad tan solo por el creio conviene más. entre cosas técnicas que supera bastante a la versión tradicional.

This is a fully featured sound recorder, excellent for field recordings or demos. Once you get used to where everything it is, it's easy to operate, and the ability to record at high volume without clipping on the fantastic microphones is a big deal.
If there's one complaint that i have about this, it's that it's top heavy when you're holding it - it can feel like it's going to tip out of your hands, but if you're using on a tripod it's great.

This recorder comes with a steep learning curve. My particular recorder has dissimilar microphone outputs ... about 2 dB's. If left to its own devices, it will be very bass biased, however, this may be filtered out. This is an ideal device for those who like to experiment and once you get the hang of it, can produce some pretty awesome reality. Mine is used for video narration, at which it excels. This is not for the novice, unless professionalism is sought. It can play tricks on you, e.g. if you record using battery power, it won't necessarily play back when powered from the mains. You must understand that everything must match precisely as when making the recording ... that's when it starts to get complicated. However, it comes with an excellently detailed manual ... but it doesn't tell you everything. Near perfection is possible, but you've got to earn it.

Havent had it long, but so far his device looks awesome. I use it both with internal mics and as an interface with a studio mic. Quality is awesome for something so compact. I now have a mobile rig that sounds top notch

For all you recirding geeks out there this is brilliant. Mics, guitar, drums, this is a mini 8 track recorder and you can edit using it!! Seriously cool piece of kit. Yes, I'm blown away. Perfect for field recordings and podcast creation.

I am a professional video producer and an amateur musician. I bought this unit to fulfill requirements in both areas. The versatility of the H4N Pro is really something; the variety of inputs, choice of recording formats, ease of use and quality components makes this a very worthwhile purchase.
I am using it for double system sound recording on video shoots as well as recording some home jam tracks by myself or with friends. One review called this the Swiss Army Knife of recorders and I would agree. The only glitch initially was a battery level meter that was not functioning on the first unit I received, which brings me to my comment on Amazon service.
When exploring the first H4N Pro I received, I seemed to be running through the batteries much quicker than the manual indicated. The icon would say low battery or battery exhausted way short of the recommended time. I took the batteries out and tested them and they were almost full. Changed batteries- same thing. I contacted Zoom and after suggesting some tests, they agreed that there was a problem and that I should return the unit. I immediately contacted Amazon for a return with explanation and offered to supply the correspondence with Zoom if needed as proof. They replied that that was not necessary and please return the unit (postage paid) with our apologies. It was evident from the shipping date that they sent out the replacement unit before getting the first one back. The second unit works great and I'm happily digging in and experimenting with the recorder. I've had a couple of other orders that I had to return for various reasons and the service has always been flawless.
So, in short, I have an excellent product from a supplier that I would happily deal with for just about any purchase.
