I buy this drive for USD$80.99, was a little bit more expensive than other options when I was evaluating my options, because I have a good experience with a Samsung 1Tb hard drive and was ok but this time I was looking for a better brand since my plan is to place this drive inside a Xbox 360, so the temperature and reliability of the drive are really important for me this time.So it arrived in an excelent package, I perform a full format and scandisc and there was no problems all the clusters where available to store my info and that was great.I also tryed the drive on a dock (Thermaltake DualX), worked great and in a enclosure (sabrent) also performs perfect.So this was great purchase, for the price could be cheaper to buy a 1TB MyPassport, but I was looking to have the flexibility to place the drive inside the Xbox not as an external drive.

1,000 glorious gigs. Look at it. It's beautiful. I got this drive for my PS3 when the old one reached the end of its rope, so I guess I can only talk about this from one of us lowly console-owners' point of view. A reasonable human being might have gone for something smaller. But for a price this low, you can't afford to -not- bring this Cadillac of storage space home. I guess the biggest thing for me is that this really cemented my transition from the X-box 360 to the PS3. Before, there was an equal division of memory space, but now, it's hard to justify -not- doing everything on the Playstation. The hard drive installs nice and easy; even if you think you don't have any experience with hardware, this will be a breeze. Just remember you have -all- the right equipment; transfer cables, backups, etc.

I purchased one for myself about a year ago. For its price point, there is nothing better. It has performed flawlessly. It runs fairly silent. Its an extremely easy install for a PS3 with no modifications required. After the OS install, you still have over 890 GB remaining for any games/dlc/media. Between my games and media, I still have plenty of room for the foreseeable future before I'd actually have to consider deleting unused or older items.I loved it so much, I purchased and installed one for my brother-in-law as well. Now he's enjoying it.If you find yourself constantly low on disk space like I did with my PS3 slim original hard drive, do yourself a favor and purchase this.

I purchased this drive after painstaking research on the internet for the largest and most reliable drive to place in my "Fat" launch 60gb PS3. My system is backward compatible and I wanted the most space available to place all my PS1, PS2 and PS3 game saves, as well as all my downloads, DLC and Platstation@Home content. (Seems every time you log on there's stuff to download or update!) Installation couldn't be easier, and there is a step-by-step guide on the PlayStation website. (Google for specific site, Amazon never keeps my links.) In any event, the drive has been performing flawlessly, just like all my other Western Digital drives I've amassed over the years. That's right, every single one of them (seven so far with an eight on the way) have kept on chuggin' along. I've been very pleased so far with this drive and all my WD's in general.

As you can tell from the title I bought this for my PS3 since my 500GB drive that was packed full. If you also are looking to buy this drive for the same purpose I do recommend it; just know that if you live in a warmer climate you may want to have better ventilation around your PS3 to keep it cool. This drive is bigger than a standard PS3 drive so there is less air flow around the housing to begin with and since it has such a high capacity it is going to be spinning a lot and heat up pretty quickly so just be aware of your PS3's temperature. Another thing to be aware of is that since it is a high capacity drive but not a faster drive to compensate for how much the needle has to move there can be some worse texture pop in in games, as far as load times I haven't noticed anything yet, but if those things don't bother you like me then I highly recommend this drive for any need you may have be it PC or PS3.

I ordered my 1st one some time ago to upgrade the drive I use as a second drive in the HDD tray in the optical drive bay of my older Thinkpad T61. I have had no problems with it. I fill it up with Windows Media Center *.WTV files and use the dead time commuting on the train to catch up on my backlog.Whenever I get a new machine, PC or Laptop I always clone the "as shipped" system image before the first power on. When got a new Thinkpad T530 I ordered another one to make a back up of the "as shipped" image. I cloned the Drive as it came from the factory before the first power on. In the event of a disaster and I am unable to restore from the backups. I just clone another copy to start fresh.Bonus When I go to sell it or donate it to charity I just put the original drive back in with no worries about any of my personal info remaining. It also gives the new owner a pristine factory system image to start fresh.I will never part with a working drive that has ever had any personal info on it. I will reuse or destroy it before disposal.I am waiting for the new HDD tray for my T530. My old T61 tray is not compatible with the new T530s bay.When the new tray arrives I will have 2 of these drives in it.NOTE: This is the same drive Lenovo used to build my Thinkpad T530.

My 13" macbook pro hard drive (mid 2009) filled up (150 or so gb) and I needed to replace it. After reading the reviews on this one I decided to order and try it out. I was worried about what to get as you get no help from Apple on this and like many others my computer has my life on it. Thankfully it worked like a charm, I just backed up my old one to our time capsule and used some online instructions on how to put it in, then put all my info on the new on via time capsule. So far so good! and now I've gone from 150 gb to 1 TB, I would definitely recommend this HD for anyone needing more space.

I know there is a lot of concern about WD non-black desktop drives in multi-element RAID configurations with the whole TLER debacles that typically surface. I bought eight of these drives in a MicroATX case, all stacked up using those converters that allow you to stack two 2.5" laptop drives into a single 3.5" drive bay. All of them connect to a HighPoint 2720SGL PCI-Express RAID card running in a single RAID6 array (~6TB usable space). They've been configured that way for six months, and I have yet to encounter even a single problem with a drive dropping out of the array, or sector remaps, or even so much as a single SMART error.The 6TB array in RAID6 sustains more than 450MB/sec even in the slowest regions; it lives in my Hyper-V host machine (there are four more spindles and an SSD in that MicroATX case) and this particular RAID set is directly linked to my WHS2011 guest virtual server.

This is a great product within the finest price range for what it's worth. Cause for me, it all started with a simple story between me and a ps3. Once there was Ps3 that had such a pitiful amount of memory. It was too small so I wanted a bigger one. So, I went on to snoop around amazon town. So, there and there, I looked and looked. And you know what I found. A very good price which really caught my eye.So, I compared and checked. Buzzed around to see if one deal could compare. And guess what, I found it here. I bought it. Used it. And got it to work with that small memory ps3.So, in the end I could say that I'm happy and glad I got it from here.

I always buy Western Digital hard drives, they are the best in the business. The warranties are great, and the return process is all online and very quick, no questions asked most of the time. I bought this to install into a Macbook Pro, for the "Z-Height" or how tall it is is only 12.5mm, small enough to fit into the Macbook Pro frame. The 2 Terabyte drives are too tall sometimes to fit into laptops, so beware. But this one is great for that laptop whose hard drive has gotten full. By the way, I am a 30-year computer tech, don't try this at home, I'm a professional. If you think you might screw things up, you will, take it to a professional. For a desktop, almost anyone can install it.

I pre-chose this type of drive because it is the best 2.5'' 1TB drive I could think of, and already owned a 0.5TB drive of the exact same make and model.I had to order via a non-amazon seller due to living in Israel, and decided on the compromise between the cheapest and the fastest, and ordered from GO4Computers.I got good service, and the product was shipped to me very quickly via fedEX, however it then turned out that in addition to VAT (which I was hoping to avoid, but couldn't), I had to pay some special "Customs release fee" to FedEX, despite the fact that this product is not customs obliged in Israel!!!!I am extremely annoyed with this, because I ended up paying about 20-25$ more than I would have paid had I bought it from a private store in Israel. I am NEVER using expedited shipping again, this sort of thing is unacceptable for a 1 lb product.

Purchased this product for my Slim PS3 back in May of 2012 worked great for about 2-3 months then kept having data loss and corruptions. PS3 kept freezing up, having to restore the file system and when that happened it always told me that I had to format my HDD as well which in turn made me lose all my game saves, pictures, videos and huge library of games. At first I figured it was just the PS3 and not the HDD, so I decided to just format the HDD and try again, but no 2 days later after the format same issues....I also bought one for my brother for his PS3 and that one has the same issues as well. Freezing, Corrupt File System, Data Loss. So it cannot just be a coincidence, Western Digital doesn't make quality products anymore, DO NOT BUY this HDD at least for PS3. Never buying a Western Digital Product again.

This drive definitely helped breathe new life into mine... Have a PS3 Slim 160GB drive (I think) that with PS+ Games and Movies filled up very quickly. After ordering and receiving the new drive (received very quickly BTW) I backed up my original data to an external hard drive, performed the "so easy a caveman could do it" drive swap, initiated the restore and WHAMO everything works perfectly! So far, no issues with heat or incompatibility. Will update later!

Hey, if you have more media content than your old HD can handle, and who doesn't these days, you need this, hands down. I have been buying Western Digital hard drives since the late 80's and they have been very reliable and reasonably competitive in price. I highly recommend this as a data storage drive for your notebook. if it supports two drives, or for a single drive configuration, but remember, it spins at 5400rpm, so don't expect super fast boot performance, buy this one for the space. I bought two more for clients and they are pleased as well.

It seemed to be a decent drive with speed and everything. But it's "feature" of moving the head was driving me crazy. It clicked every couple of minutes what made me think that either it's already defective or it will definitely become defective. Therefore I returned it. Thanks to amazon it was for free.

This is the best thing I have bought for my computer needs in a while. I have lots of hard drives in my office and am always having to off load data to the NAS system. But with this unit I now have a fast 1TB drive on board my laptop. I have a 17.3 inch Gateway and it comes with a second drive bay! Bonus! Now I can store whole lot more on my own local system.Very quite, fast transfer, better than the C: drive, spins up quick. This was a snap to install. I give this a 5 star.

Used this to upgrade the storage on my Vaio SR290 - it had a standard 320GB drive . This one fit in perfectly and I had no issues with the fit.Before I installed the drive, I downloaded the WD Acronis True Image utility to clone the drive and it worked perfectly - migrated about 200GB of data in about three to four hours. I had hooked up the new drive to a SATA docking station and used it as an external HDD. After the migration was done , I swapped out the drives and it worked perfectly..

I purchased this Hard drive to replace the disk drive in my MacBook Pro (late 2010) model. This drive is 2.5inch's and fits right into the mount I used. It is very quick at loading pictures and movies. It also is very quiet for a hard drive.

Looks great so far - nice and quiet. At 5400 RPM it's not a performance buster, but it is useful for backup images.This drive does use the Advanced Formatting design, which means its blocksize if 4k instead of 512 bytes. For OS's after Win XP, this is not an issue, but if you are planning to put XP on one of these, you will need to be careful with regards to the alignment of partitions. WD makes an alignment tool to verify and if necessary, shift partitions to the 4k boundaries.

I am impressed with the speed of this drive in my 2009 Macbook Pro. This drive replaced a 2 year old Seagate 7200 RPM drive that was just too small. According to the Blackmagic Disk Speed Test (available in the Mac App store) this drive writes at 89 MB/s and reads at 95 MB/s. The 7200 RPM drive it replaced achieved 56 MB/s write and 61 MB/s read. Also, according to Coconut battery app it uses ~1 Watt less than the old drive. The only reason I am not giving this drive 5 stars is for acoustics. The drive is little noisy under normal operation and the head seems to park often adding to the noise. I realize there is a lot of action that happens inside of a mechanical HDD, I just don't want to hear about it (- 1 star). Otherwise this drive has exceeded my expectations in boot time, application start time and handling very large iPhoto and iTunes libraries. An incredible value.

Bought in November 5 2012, and fail in March 22.Windows 8 show me a lot of :( BSOD, so I did a couple of test to find what was wrong... the disk didn't pass any S.M.A.R.T. test.It was shipping in frustration "free" package.I got a new drive, Seagate this time, don't trust in WD anymore.Think twice.

I got this hard drive to replace my 320 GB PS3 hard drive. Don't believe what out-dated tutorials claim, 1 TB hard drives are no problem for PS3. Just be sure to look up how to reformat the hard drive in order for it to function on PS3!

I got this to replace my 120GB hard drive. Installation was an ease and it is great to have all this space for saves. I have had no issues since I installed the hard drive. If you are needing space for a PS3 slim, I would recommend this product.
