- второй каждые 8 секунд "бездействия" отключается.
До сих пор полагался только на WD, пришло время менять производителя. "Инженеры" внедрили механизм "экономии" энергии, останавливающий вращение диска, если в течение 8 секунд к нему не было обращений. В совокупности с поведением современного ПО, это приводит к постоянным запускам/остановкам...

Ехал отдыхать и брал ноут с собой. Места на жестком старом было мало и поменял на эту модель, так как терабайта мне хватит теперь надолго. Сбрасывал фото и видео, фильмов накачал в дорогу. Работает бытстро, не громко.

- + Объем, скорость. Куплен в замену 160Gb для Lenovo Y510 - оценка диска поднялась с 3.8 до 4.9, по тестам скорость диска поднялась в 2 с небольшим раза. Для старых ноутов с SATA I этот диск самое то (SSD здесь на полную скорость не заработает). Куплен за 2800 в декабре 2012г. Диск разбит 128/256/530/16.

К сожалению это второй WD который посыпался через полгода эксплуатации. Основная система на ssd от intel работает уже второй год без нареканий, а диски от wd тем временем все расстраивают. Опять разбирать ноут и копировать все на новый диск...

- + - Сразу же после покупки, произошло ужасное, хард упал с высоты 1 метра на ламинат, упал ребром, с диким шумом. Я конечно же в ужасе пришел к выводу, что харду конец. Подключив, обнаружил что все с ним нормально, битых секторов не обнаружил, проблем с электроникой тоже.

- + Шустрый, тихий терабайтник и практически не греется. На удивление с парковками головок у этой модельки все нормально.
- - Недостатки можете увидеть разве что при установке Windows XP - придется пройтись утилитой WD (Paragon) align. Таковы обратные прелести advanced format. Если ставите семерку - все будет ок.
Дороговат, если сравнивать с самсунгом или хитачи
Отличный двухпластинчатый хард серии голубых скорпионов стандартных габаритов...

- старая модель, из начала 201х - никакого SMR, только безобидные 4k "advanced format" сектора - - - непонятно, откуда в 2022 году у продавца на складе образовались диски 201х годов выпуска в не единичных экземплярях. Диски приходят в запаянных пакетах, на вид - новые, никаких потёртостей на контактах SATA или рядом с монтажными отверстиями. Программно также выглядят как "нулёвка, только что с завода". Однако купленные мною два экземпляра отличались между собой: разные размеры антистатических пакетов, разные надписи и их расположение на этих пакетах, разное содержимое - в одном пакете был только диск, в другом -и диск и пакетик силикогеля.
- заявленный срок службы - 10 *дней*!!! Непосредственно на странице товара это не отображается, надо зайти в Характеристики...

- - Этот жесткий диск уже просто задолбал. Стоял в ноуте при покупке. Отключается каждые 8 секунд и ни чего с этим не сделать! Это не отключить на некоторых партиях даже через DOS!
Представьте, работаете вы в SolidWorks, пока задаёте параметры какой то функции, он засыпает, потом просыпается, компьютер зависает на 1,5с , пока вы ищите мышкой другую функцию, он снова засыпает, потом просыпается...

Highly recommended with warm fuzzies!I have two of these 1-TB drives installed in a laptop that is often used for the editing of photos, images, and very large video files. I had originally considered getting two of the faster 7200-RPM "Scorpio Black" series drives. But the largest "Black" drive is 750 GB, and for my purposes of needing storage space more than speed, the 2 TB of disk space from having two of these 1-TB drives installed in my laptop is significantly more important than having 500-GB less space by installing two of the faster 7200-RPM 750-GB "Black" drives.The 9.5mm-height form factor of this drive means that it can fit inside most laptops. The drive was shipped from Amazon using Amazon's "Frustration-Free Packaging" of a cardboard box and molded cardboard holding the drive inside the box. There are four threaded inserts on the two longer sides of the drive for use with standard mounting screws; no mounting screws or hard drive bracket/caddy are provided with this hard drive. This drive is rated at a very quiet 22 dBA sound level when idle, and 25 dBA when the drive is seeking/reading/writing. With two of these drives installed inside my laptop, I can only barely hear the drives' operations in a quiet room when my ears are about one to two feet away from the drives' location inside the laptop and the drives are actively reading/writing. When the laptop is idle, I do not hear the drives at all. And even if this hard drive is actively seeking/reading/writing, its tiny sound is masked by my laptop's fan noise even at the fan's slowest speed.When tested using the "HD Tune" hard drive performance benchmarking tool, it turns out that this 5400-RPM Scorpio Blue drive compares favorably to the 7200-RPM Scorpio Black drives, even though the faster Black drives also have a 16-MB cache compared to the smaller 8-MB cache on the Blue drives. On my installed 1-TB drives, HD Tune reported a minimum/maximum/average read speed of 56, 115, and 89 MB/sec, and a minimum/maximum/average write speed of 42, 113, and 88 MB/sec. This is only about 10% to 15% slower than the performance of the largest-capacity 750-GB Scorpio Black drive. This 5400-RPM drive is slightly faster than Seagate's 7200-RPM Momentus drive, and it even compares favorably to Seagate's Momentus XT Hybrid Drive. This drive's random access read and write times are also comparable to both the 7200-RPM Scorpio Black and Seagate's 7200-RPM Momentus drives.Western Digital offers an "Acronis TrueImage" that can be downloaded from their Web site to let you copy all your data from an old drive to a new drive so you do not have to reinstall your operating system to get all the benefits of a new drive. I did not try this software out.If you are trying to decide between the 7200-RPM Scorpio Black drive (or some other faster 7200-RPM mobile-form-factor drive), the Black drive will be about 10% to 15% faster than this drive, but at the time of this review's writing, I am not aware of a 9.5mm mobile drive that has both 7200-RPM speed and 1-TB capacity. If you get this 1-TB drive, like me, you favor capacity more than speed. Although I am using two of these drives for photo/video editing and two 7200-RPM 750-MB Scorpio Black drives would have performed faster, this drive has pretty good performance and I would rather maximize my laptop's disk space. I love that I can pack 2-TB of reliable, quiet, inexpensive, and take-it-with-me portable storage into my laptop without needing to rely on external hard drives. I can dream about the day that 1-TB of SSD storage becomes affordable, but for now, this 5400-RPM drive is really not that much slower compared to most 7200-RPM drives.

My first thought on receiving the box with the drive in it was that it almost felt empty. I own a laptop computer but I've never had cause to remove the hard disk. I was impressed by Seagate's CFII-sized hard disks but those only hold -- as far as I know -- a maximum of 8GB. This HDD is, in comparison, almost incredible. I did some reading and it seems as though WD's engineers are pushing the boundaries of physics and electromechanical engineering with this little beast (and basically hit a brick wall as far as capacity in this form factor). So, if you've been waiting to upgrade your PS3 to the largest possible hard disk that will fit, wait no longer!Backing up the drive of my CECH-2001A (120GB - 4GB of free space) took about three hours using a freshly-formatted 2.5TB USB external drive (guiformat.exe will FAT32 a 2.5TB drive in a matter of seconds). Installing the drive in the PS3 took a few of minutes (mostly spent fumbling with the tiny screws). The PS3 formatted the drive quickly and began installing the newest (4.11) firmware from the USB disk (X:\PS3\UPDATE\PS3UPDAT.PUP). I cancelled out of the "setup" and began restoring the backup from the USB disk (at which time the PS3 formatted the hard disk -again-). The restoration process took a little more than four hours (I had a lot of stuff on that 120GB disk). All of my settings were intact but most of my themes had disappeared (they were still available through my PSN download history, though, so everything was back to "normal" in just a few minutes).I didn't think to do a before/after comparison but I'd swear that it goes from "standby" to "usable" a few seconds faster than it did with the stock hard disk. This is not advertised as a "performance" drive and I don't expect 7200RPM speed out of it (and I won't have to deal with the heat or ridiculous power consumption of a 7200RPM drive). I've had zero problems with it so far (but it's only been in use for a day). I'll probably update this review in a few months to give a progress report. I'm hoping that I'll never have to worry about WD's warranty. I've known their products to be quite robust if treated with respect. Never move the drive for any reason while it's still spinning and it ought to last for years and years (my oldest WD drive is over 10 years old and it's still holding data).My PS3 now has ~750GB of free space. That level of "future proof" is well worth the price of this drive as far as I'm concerned. Not having to delete PSN games (or old game data from disc-based games) just to play a new demo/game is PRICELESS! I also have enough disk space to start importing my CD collection (which will make GT5 much more enjoyable). I'm not happy about having to use MP3 (instead of FLAC) but >192kbps is generally acceptable (and if I'm paying that much attention to the music while gaming, it can't be a good game)...

Got a 2009 MacBook Pro off of ebay about a year ago and have slowly upgraded it. I replaced the original HD with a 120GB SSD shortly after receiving it. Next was the RAM, from 4GB to 8GB. After about six months I realized that I was slowly filling the SSD Drive. While I can not afford a larger SSD I could afford this drive. I added this by replacing the Superdrive in the MacBook Pro and am extremely happy. I now have a TB of storage built into the computer. This has allowed me to store over 500 movies on my computer with no issue. While I would not recommend this as your main drive if you like a quick and responsive computer, I would highly recommend it for what it is a great storage drive. At 5400 RPM and 1TB it is a perfect 2nd drive for a MacBook.This drive does not add any heat to the computer. It also is not loud or create the subtle (yet annoying) vibration that a 7200 RPM drive will add. I have owned all three types and here is how I would recommend drives.5400 RPM - Use them as storage drives for your computers. They are inexpensive and when accessing them for files or music you will notice no difference.7200 RPM - A little of both worlds, much faster and more responsive then a 5400 RPM drive and can store more data than a SSD.SSD - Fastest drive around. My MacBook Pro takes 9 seconds from pushing the power button to being on the internet. Can't beat that.

I bought this HDD on 7 March 2013. I have had nothing but issues since installing it in my PS3 slim. The UI lags terribly, the system often stutters during gameplay and whenever I use a disc based game the system basically locks up for at least 5-10 minutes and sometimes will shut down altogether. I've reformatted the HDD numerous times to no avail. I've put the OEM 320GB HDD back in and my PS3 works flawlessly. I had high hopes for this HDD since I have an extensive digital library. This HDD could've been amazing for me with all the space on it. Also, for those that are curious about the actual space available the HDD has 931GB of available space however the PS3 takes an additional 103GB for the operating system (or whatever) leaving 828GB available. I am very disappointed about the product performance. If anyone has any suggestions to improve performance I would be eternally grateful. Thank you.

This drive failed within 3 weeks and took all my data with it. Afterwards I checked the hard drive and it simply failed every diagnostic test, including WD's own Lifeguard tool. I should have checked the drive from the start, like I usually do, but I shouldn't have to. This is fourth WD drive to fail on me in the past few years (the number probably be higher if I didn't go with a different manufacturer). They simply aren't the company they used to be. What happened to the standard five-year warranty??! Now every Western Digital HD has a two warranty, because they know they make crap, and they don't want to stand behind their product when it hits the fan. They can't even make it up to you with their warranty process, because they would just send you another reburb version of their horrible their drive. Where's the common sense in that? Should they send you a better, more reliable drive? Yes, but they don't. No, they send you same drive with the same failure rate or a drive that's already failed once before!I say all this because I personally own over 35 WD hard drives over the past 15+ years. I've always been a WD fan. But NOT anymore. Very disappointed. And if you do a proper search online, you'll see I'm not the only one.You're taking a chance with this drive. Consider yourself warned. I don't recommended it.

Quick delivery. Large capacity for notebook drive. Thinner than the drive I replaced. Quiet. Not sure on speed, but I haven't seen any problems.Promised Western Digital drive cloning software is USELESS. I put the drive in a USB case to transfer the data. The Western Digital software wouldn't recognize the drive. Claimed it would only work with a Western Digital drive. Duh! What do you think I bought from you?Ended up using free software from EaseUS. Once I figured out how to set up the drive in Windows, EaseUS allowed me to image the old drive to the new one and then change the partition to take advantage of the new capacity. Highly recommend EaseUS. Shame on WD for their worthless-ware.Have to give four stars because I bought this drive specifically because of the included software. Wasted a lot of time finding a workaround.

After reading many reviews about which drive to choose for an upgrade (Seagate Spinpoint vs Western Digital Scorpio Blue), there were much more positive reviews for the Western Digital drive overall. Some have mentioned that the Seagate drive sometimes is not detected by the PS3 (depending whether it's the slim or fat version), so I decided to buy this drive instead. I am upgrading my old (fat version) PS3 80GB Metal Gear Solid 4 Bundle that I bought a couple of years back. The installation was successful and easy to do. After booting up the PS3 with the new hard drive, it will format it accordingly and the total amount of GB will be 931GB after system files are installed. So far, my PS3 is humming along nicely with no problems at all. This WD 1TB drive is a definite must for those who want to give their old PS3 a "tune up" to last another few years before the next generation console makes it obsolete. I definitely recommend this drive!Instructions on installing new hard drive into PS3:-Back up all of your saved data onto an external HDD drive (make sure it's formatted to FAT32 or else the PS3 will not read it) via the PS3 menu-Replace the old PS3 hard drive (mine was Seagate branded) with the WD 1TB Scorpio Blue HD.-Turn on PS3 and it should ask you if you want to format it before use. Click Yes and after format, go back to the PS3 menu and select restore backup.-Enjoy!

I buy this drive for USD$80.99, was a little bit more expensive than other options when I was evaluating my options, because I have a good experience with a Samsung 1Tb hard drive and was ok but this time I was looking for a better brand since my plan is to place this drive inside a Xbox 360, so the temperature and reliability of the drive are really important for me this time.So it arrived in an excelent package, I perform a full format and scandisc and there was no problems all the clusters where available to store my info and that was great.I also tryed the drive on a dock (Thermaltake DualX), worked great and in a enclosure (sabrent) also performs perfect.So this was great purchase, for the price could be cheaper to buy a 1TB MyPassport, but I was looking to have the flexibility to place the drive inside the Xbox not as an external drive.

1,000 glorious gigs. Look at it. It's beautiful. I got this drive for my PS3 when the old one reached the end of its rope, so I guess I can only talk about this from one of us lowly console-owners' point of view. A reasonable human being might have gone for something smaller. But for a price this low, you can't afford to -not- bring this Cadillac of storage space home. I guess the biggest thing for me is that this really cemented my transition from the X-box 360 to the PS3. Before, there was an equal division of memory space, but now, it's hard to justify -not- doing everything on the Playstation. The hard drive installs nice and easy; even if you think you don't have any experience with hardware, this will be a breeze. Just remember you have -all- the right equipment; transfer cables, backups, etc.

I purchased one for myself about a year ago. For its price point, there is nothing better. It has performed flawlessly. It runs fairly silent. Its an extremely easy install for a PS3 with no modifications required. After the OS install, you still have over 890 GB remaining for any games/dlc/media. Between my games and media, I still have plenty of room for the foreseeable future before I'd actually have to consider deleting unused or older items.I loved it so much, I purchased and installed one for my brother-in-law as well. Now he's enjoying it.If you find yourself constantly low on disk space like I did with my PS3 slim original hard drive, do yourself a favor and purchase this.

I purchased this drive after painstaking research on the internet for the largest and most reliable drive to place in my "Fat" launch 60gb PS3. My system is backward compatible and I wanted the most space available to place all my PS1, PS2 and PS3 game saves, as well as all my downloads, DLC and Platstation@Home content. (Seems every time you log on there's stuff to download or update!) Installation couldn't be easier, and there is a step-by-step guide on the PlayStation website. (Google for specific site, Amazon never keeps my links.) In any event, the drive has been performing flawlessly, just like all my other Western Digital drives I've amassed over the years. That's right, every single one of them (seven so far with an eight on the way) have kept on chuggin' along. I've been very pleased so far with this drive and all my WD's in general.

As you can tell from the title I bought this for my PS3 since my 500GB drive that was packed full. If you also are looking to buy this drive for the same purpose I do recommend it; just know that if you live in a warmer climate you may want to have better ventilation around your PS3 to keep it cool. This drive is bigger than a standard PS3 drive so there is less air flow around the housing to begin with and since it has such a high capacity it is going to be spinning a lot and heat up pretty quickly so just be aware of your PS3's temperature. Another thing to be aware of is that since it is a high capacity drive but not a faster drive to compensate for how much the needle has to move there can be some worse texture pop in in games, as far as load times I haven't noticed anything yet, but if those things don't bother you like me then I highly recommend this drive for any need you may have be it PC or PS3.

I ordered my 1st one some time ago to upgrade the drive I use as a second drive in the HDD tray in the optical drive bay of my older Thinkpad T61. I have had no problems with it. I fill it up with Windows Media Center *.WTV files and use the dead time commuting on the train to catch up on my backlog.Whenever I get a new machine, PC or Laptop I always clone the "as shipped" system image before the first power on. When got a new Thinkpad T530 I ordered another one to make a back up of the "as shipped" image. I cloned the Drive as it came from the factory before the first power on. In the event of a disaster and I am unable to restore from the backups. I just clone another copy to start fresh.Bonus When I go to sell it or donate it to charity I just put the original drive back in with no worries about any of my personal info remaining. It also gives the new owner a pristine factory system image to start fresh.I will never part with a working drive that has ever had any personal info on it. I will reuse or destroy it before disposal.I am waiting for the new HDD tray for my T530. My old T61 tray is not compatible with the new T530s bay.When the new tray arrives I will have 2 of these drives in it.NOTE: This is the same drive Lenovo used to build my Thinkpad T530.

My 13" macbook pro hard drive (mid 2009) filled up (150 or so gb) and I needed to replace it. After reading the reviews on this one I decided to order and try it out. I was worried about what to get as you get no help from Apple on this and like many others my computer has my life on it. Thankfully it worked like a charm, I just backed up my old one to our time capsule and used some online instructions on how to put it in, then put all my info on the new on via time capsule. So far so good! and now I've gone from 150 gb to 1 TB, I would definitely recommend this HD for anyone needing more space.
