Ужасно

I bought this hard drive just in February, three months ago. Few days ago it reported many dead blocks when I checked it with Western Digital Disk tools. Then it just failed to the point that it is not even mounting anymore.

Великолепно

Reasonably quite. Seems to perform well. So far so good. When I bought it this was the least expensive 2TB 7200 RPM sata drive. I find it good value for the money.

I bought this to replace a broken 1.5 Tb disk. So far this seems to be fine. No issues. It is still as quiet as the old 1.5 TB disk no complaints. This went into a 4 bay disk array with 3 other 1.5 Tb drives.

I installed this in my puter. 1st no mounting screws, 2nd no instructions, 3 no cables to hook to boards. After running around town to aquire the necessary hardware to hooked it up. It ran great and is still going with out a problem.Gave 4 stars because no instruction, or mounting screws. The cables I found don't come with it. Shipping was fast and packaging was good.

I've been running this hard drive for about a month now as a secondary (back-up) drive and I have no complaints. Very quiet hard drive. Always have liked Western Digital's quality on their hard drives!

in May2012 the drive failed,I have used other Wstern Digital hardware that outlasted this drive,luckily,I had most of the data backed up on dvd

Have used WD products for years and was not at all disappointed with this purchase. Have installed as more storage in my NAS system. Plug n Play. How easy is that.

Took a chance on this drive due to the glowing reviews (even though it has some bad ones also). Never even got a chance to try it since it was dead on arrival.*EDIT* 8 Mar 2012Took another chance. Returned the DOA, and got another one from Amazon. It also arrived DOA. All my other hard drives that I have show up so I dont think its me. Gonna look for a different brand I guess.

its not the best but its stills ok... too expensive for me... but its worth it... I recommend to buy a Solid state drive instead of these cause this hard drive isnt the best at all...

Long time WD fan but 1 of 2 drives failed <30 days after purchase. Thankfully, and why the 3 stars is that they replace in advance. Now have another drive on the way.I'll keep using their products. I just wish the failure rate was lower. Maybe Amazon is really hard on the products?

My background - very experienced computer user. I have built them from scratch and play around with them all the time.I was excited about the prospect of this drive... energy efficient, SATA 3, 64MB Cache, 2.5 TB - sounds great. Even paid for overnight delivery.Unfortunately, the one I got worked sometimes, not others. Got messages around 'bad sectors'. Could not fix. Worked fine as an externally attached hard drive (most of the time). Did not work at all internally when connected to SATA cables.Sunday, I gave up and bought a Seagate Barracuda Green 2 TB drive at BestBuy. Connected the SATA cables and works flawlessly. I was up and running in less than ten minutes.I have had plenty of Western Digital drives in the past, but, this is my first "dud" from them. So sometimes you get a bad drive. It happens. Not happy about this drive, but, I wont necessarily exclude WD from the future. But, if the Seagate continues to run great, they will be my first choice.I will update this review if the Seagate goes down. (It would only be fair.)

I initialized it using a GUID Partition Table (GPT) and performed an initial long format. It formatted to 2.7 TB (3 TB actual). It finished in a few hours; then I copied it full of videos. Transfer rates were in the 90-100 mb/sec range. The source drives used for this copy operation were only SATA II capable, but current mechanical Hard Drive surface xfer rates don't exceed SATA II spec. anyway (3Gb / sec). Thus the SATA III interface (6Gb / sec) on this drive is overkill.It is now part of my Win 7 Media system and is being used as a buffer for my DVDs; allowing push button access to my movies without having to get up and load them into the DVD player each time I want to watch. Video plays back smooth and nice.Great price (apprrox $41 per terabyte) and I guess time will tell how reliable they are... ;-)Update 09/29/2012:1 year and STILL going strong. :-)

Just remember to set the jumper if you only have a Sata 3gb/sec MOBO. I plugged it in, powered up to Windows 7, and formatted the drive using the GUID Partition Table (GPT). Works like a champ.

I bought 2 hard drives, and had them installed in a RAID configuration using a synology disk manager. Everything seemed to work fine, until one hard drive crashed last night. It's disappointing to have stumbled into such bad luck, but I'm going to go ahead and purchase another drive. I'll see what happens.

I'm a computer technician who manages numerous client storage arrays. I purchased 6 (six) of the Western Digital WD20EARS drives in April 2011 to fill one array (previous version of the WD20EARX shown here). Two have failed (accumulative bad sectors) thus far. That's a 33% failure rate within a six month period. Luckily I have these setup in mirrored arrays or the data would have been lost. I have RMA'd one of the drives so far back to Western Digital under warranty. The replacement drive failed (Click of Death) in less than a week.I have a friend who manages a data center in South Fla. When I mentioned my predicament he told me he had experienced the same. It's his company's policy to purchase only Samsung or Seagate due to Western Digital's failure rate.Buyer beware with Western Digital.

I was never a fan of Western Digital drives...until I tried these 2 drives. VERY quite, fast...replaced two drives in a LaCie 2BigTriple and they now outperforms the original drives in both speed and sound. these drives are nearly silent...highly recommended!

Unfortunately the green drives are still unreliable. I have to replace this with another drive because of the horrible clicking noise the drive has started to produce in my Synology.
