I bought this for my mother who is having a hard time seeing a small laptop screen. I can't get full use of the display - it is a different ratio than the laptop - so it is either black on the edges or stretched and looks very funny. Maybe it is me - or I should have known this already. The clarity is great - and the price is amazing.

I purchased this monitor last week. I was a little nervous since I could not find many reviews for it. Anyway, I bought it and have been using it since Sunday (2/27). My initial impressions are that it is terrific. The picture is beautiful and crisp. I had to go my control panel>display to increase the dpi size from 96 to 121? and also to change the resolution to 1920x1080. When I changed the resolution, the print became sooo small that I was having trouble reading it so then I increased the dpi size and it's great now.The monitor swivels smoothly. I wanted to raise it up and it wouldn't budge. I noticed a little round hook stuck in the bottom of the "stem" of the tv. I didn't know what it was but gave it a yank and it came out. Now, it raises and lowers super easily also. I just left the hook out because I couldn't figure out what else to do with it.Most important, I'm able to do the Tile Vertical and see 2 screens at the same time - right next to each other - on the one monitor. I didn't need 2 monitors or a new graphics card - it was just plug and play. I'm very happy with this monitor.

I'm so happy i found this monitor. I was looking for a monitor to go with my new Mac Mini and I didn't want one of those shiny, glossy ones. This one is great, the frame and the screen are a nice matte finish, perfect! The colors are brilliant, especially after going through the Mac calibration. Another great feature is the height adjustment. This was the only monitor that I could find, in this price range, that will do that. You can also turn it vertically, interesting feature.Overall great monitor!

No dead pixels, nice packaging, beautiful and vibrant, brighter than expected, dust magnet, fantastic anti-glare screen. Does seem to have a bluish glow edge bleed, but rarely noticeable. I'd buy another one, no question. Seriously, this monitor is a STEAL. I love it. Get you one! Or two!

The display quality is good. It is crisp, clear, bright, and vibrant. I like having options for different input formats.The speaker quality is poor. The built in speakers are obviously cheap and can only produce shallow sounds. You will find no bass whatsoever. This is perfect for my use (monitors for business users with limited multimedia).The user interface is also poor. There are 2 buttons that change functions based on what menu screen you are at. I am not a fan of these, because when the menu is not showing you have no way to know which button does what. Even when in the menu sometimes I can't tell what button is going to perform what action because the icons are small and vague (is a door with an arrow going to exit the menu or enter the sub-menu?).Also, as another reviewer mentioned, the monitor will automatically switch to the active input. This means that if you have 2 active inputs connected and the display cuts out briefly it will automatically change to the other input (such as when you restart a PC or start a game at a different resolution). Frustrating and time-consuming especially when you miss your chance to access the BIOS, cancel a CHKDSK, etc.

was very pleased with the color and contrast. The price is better then most local stores. However the quality of the speaker is a small disappointment...if you want to listen to music or something nice, you'll need to get better speakers....otherwise the speakers are just ok. Overall good value however.

I am very pleased with this monitor. The LED display is so much brighter than my other display. The colors are gorgeous. Images and text are sharp and clear. Great response time. Love the portrait orientation, but I wish the software would automatically adjust like some monitors do. No bad pixels. Base and stand are sturdy.

I searched high and low for the best deal on a 24" monitor. As of June 2011, I think this product is probably your best bang-for-your-monitor-buck you'll find on Amazon or possibly anywhere online. If you step-up to a 28" monitor, you'll spend a good 50% more at least. You can pay a bit less for a 22" monitor, but this size seems like the best deal. As with any new monitor, be sure to reduce the brightness! They are always set to 100% brightness only because they want them to look very bright if they are used as a display in a store. At home or at your office, you don't want it at 100% brightness. Personally, I usually turn it down to around 50% brightness and it looks much better and is easier on the eyes.

Purchased one of these VA2431WM 24-inch monitors for a PC build (see my review on the AMD Phenom II X6 Six-Core Processor 1090T "Best Build for the Money (under $990)"). I liked it so much that I ordered another, to up my PC build to a dual monitor system. I paid $169.99 for it both times and now it's up to $179, but even at that price it is well worth the money as long as you are not buying it for the sound. The dull surface eliminates any glare from lights in or around your system. The colors are crisp, clean and vibrant. The default settings are too hot but a few simple menu adjustments are all that's required. For some reason my monitors factory setting for brightness was 100%. I'm not sure if that's always true but it was for my first one, I just ordered my second one today. I admit the sound on this monitor is just so-so but if you don't care about that, it's a 5-star purchase.

I bought two of these to replace a recently dead Samsung. I am pleased with the quality of the displays. The inclusion of VESA mounts really sold these as well.The only problem I had is that one of them did not ship with a DVI cable. Amazon's help says to go to Veiwsonic or to Amazon returns. Veiwsonics only warranty option I could find was to ship the monitor to them. I'm not packing up a 24 inch monitor and shipping it off for a 5 dollar cable, I guess I'll just buy my own.

I looked at and compared pricing on a larger size monitor to enable easier multitasking. I choose this item based on price and am very pleased with the much larger screen than my previous 19". Colors and images are very vibrant and resolution is quite good. However, the built in "speakers" are, in my opinion, worthless. The one speaker is on the back of the monitor and I have to turn it up quite a bit to be able to hear much of anything from the front. The quality of sound from it is very poor. I have turned off the monitor's speaker and am using the speakers from my old monitor which are much better quality.

I have had the ViewSonic VA2431WM monitor connected to my new Windows 7 Lenovo Desktop for about two months. As expected, the on-board speakers were basically worthless (not enough volume or sound quality for even minimal requirements) but everything else about the monitor has been very good. Nice sharp image, excellent color, easy set-up - no problems.

The delivery was very fast. I was a bit skeptical when it arrived in the Viewsonic box, was worried about damage from it being tossed around in a delivery truck, but it was ok. As for the monitor itself it was a big improvement over the old 15" crt we had. There were no dead pixels, the color is great and of course the size is fantastic. We can't give it 5 stars because we have only been running it for 2 weeks, time will tell the story for this monitor. The speakers are lousy, but then they are lousy in our Samsung tv's too. The stand is ok for us, it does rock a bit but I doubt if it will tip over. We don't notice any color bleeding either. An overall good monitor for home and office use.

I've had this monitor for about 3 months and absolutely love it. It is so large and crystal clear. I do a lot of digital photography and the colors looks awesome. Highly recommended. Can't believe the value for the price.

Pros: The display is wonderful! The colors are vivid and text is clear. Wow!Cons: The cables are short - probably 5 1/2 feet. No DVI cable.Notes: I have had the monitor for 2 hours. I purchased this monitor via CitiBank Rewards program, which gets products from Best Buy.

took awhile to get used to widescreen, use this monitor mainly for picture editing and widescreen really doesnt cut it. clarity if very good, price is what sold me. the speakers suck, they sound like they were taken out of an old transistor radio

After much research, purchased this monitor last week and couldn't be more pleased. Setup was a snap. Am using with a desk-mounted monitor arm. Color and clarity are amazing! Text and graphics were perfect out-of-the-box. Am not using speakers and don't plan to so I can't speak to sound quality. Having all that extra screen real estate makes a huge difference. Am now making regular use of the "snap" feature in Windows 7. Prior to this purchase, had only used my laptop display. I could just kick myself for not having done this sooner. If you're considering this monitor, just go ahead and do it! You will not be disappointed

I bought this monitor because my previous 21" got finicky about turning on. Figured 3" wouldn't make that much of a difference...it's like night and day. This is so much bigger than the old one. The audio actually works when you plug it in...so few monitors do, though I'll probably never use it. I just plugged it in to see if it would work. It has great color/resolution, is sharp and vibrant. I would suggest this monitor to anyone looking to upgrade or replace a monitor. Can't beat the great quality and performance for a low price. True it doesn't come with a DVI cable but then they didn't say it had one in the description, what you get is a VGA cable which is adequate but I'd spring for the DVI for any high resolution work/viewing. You can buy one here for under $10. All in all a real winner.

Excellent clarity in text and pictures. Very bright with good controls. I'm using VGA inputs and everything is very clear. Starts up very fast. I only use the native resolution. Good price.

I hooked this up to my macbook to stream baseball games, and the picture is phenomenal. The speakers leave a lot to be desired but for the price of the monitor I'm more than happy to plug in my Bose. As usual shipping through Prime was great.

Despite reading a few mediocre reviews, I got the VA2431 for photo editing in PSE9. After visual calibration in manual mode (gamma and brightness reduction) and at full native resolution, with a 10 EV dynamic range where only 8 are required for an 8-bit JPG or TIFF file, this monitor has definitely exceeded my hopes.I'm a serious photography hobbiest, not a pro, and I'm upgrading from a laptop display. That said, with proper adjustment, this monitor provides amazing performance for the price, and I would recommend it highly to hobbiests looking for a better display to use in editing photos.If you're in a similar situation, you should first make sure your laptop graphics card will support the native resolution (at 60 Hz, not 75). Then select the VA2431 as the single monitor and set resolution to 1920 X 1080.

Good monitor, good size, color, etc and what everyone else has said. Minus a star though because the physical part of the monitor does not look as good as I would have liked. The bezel is bigger than wanted and there is no good way to hide the power and DVI cords.

Basically I originally got the 24in ViewSonic because I wanted to be able to turn my monitor to my client so that they could also see the screen. Then I liked it so much, I decided I could really benefit from running duel monitors, so I bought another one. They are great monitors. Very clean and clear graphics.

I thought I would be able to get rid of the speakers on my desk if I bought a monitor with built-in speakers...wrong! The speakers produce a really bad quality sound - especially bad for music. So the speakers remain on my desk.

Wonderful monitor for the right price. I've already bough a few of these and the ONLY drawback so far is the lack of a disk with color profile. While this can probably be downloaded from ViewSonic's site, we do our own color profiling so it doesn't matter too much to us. We just made our own profiles.That being said, color was pretty close to spot-on with windows' built-in driver.Besides, the average user never profiles his/her monitor anyway, nor is it necessary for most applications.Love it!

When I bought my first computer in 1991 a 21 inch color monitor was $2,000.00. This monitor, substantive and solid on the desk, is an unbelievable value at its price set at under $200.00. It is solid, crisp and brilliant, with hastle free install on windows 7. The sound is not strong but I do not want a sound system on my desk top which is mostly for work. The stereo speakers are adequate for most desktop aps and I am very pleased with the purchase and continue to be impressed with Viewsonic whom I have always regarded as an outfit producing high quality products. This is a great item.

I bought this as a second (primary) monitor for my 17" Dell Laptop. It is much nicer to work on. The only con would be the "Built in Speakers". They may be good for system sounds, but not good for listening to music while you work.

The monitor was delivered in excellent condition, in the time frame promised, at a quite reasonable price. I couldn't ask for better. The monitor worked "out of the box" with my new computer running Windows 7 Home Premium, which means MS supplies the necessary drivers with Windows 7. This monitor supplies crisp images and excellent color. I can't say anything about the speakers since I use a surround sound speaker system inherited from a previous computer.

very bright... beautiful color!It has integrated speakers, but but volume adjustment is very awkward, so I use separate speakers I wish it had an audio out jack for my buds.

This is an excellent moniter, picture quality is excellent,speaker sound quality is excellent. The assembly and hook up were very easy. This was a very good choice . I would definitly recommend it. Shipping was fast and all was discribed as listed. Thanks to all the great reveiws. The price was right.

Excellent monitor for the price. Very good vibrant colors. The recommended resolution is 1920x1080, and at that resolution it is truly excellent! But you need a relatively recent computer with a better than average graphics card to drive that. I tried the monitors on two computers, and the second one did not have the kind of graphics card that could support that resolution. Instead, I settled for 1680x1050, which also looks good, but not as good. I don't recommend any other resolutions. Also 4x3 or 5x4 aspect ratios do not work well. Some wide monitors will do these aspects ratios well, but not this one. You have to use this monitor strictly in a widescreen mode.

I bought two of these monitors (VA2431wm) for my work computer. They replaced two older 19inch Dell monitors. It was a very easy replacement: disconnected the old monitors, plugged in the new monitors (one VGA the other HDMI), and turned on the computer. I had to adjust the graphics driver to the native resolution (1920x1080) and that was it. They look great and are much brighter than the old monitors. I have not tried them to view HD movies, but they work great for the computer with no problems. By the way, they each came with a VGA cable, power cable, and an audio cable. I already had the HDMI cable. Now I have almost 4 feet of horizontal computer desktop. And the increased brightness is easier on my eyes.
