This unit came with a power-over ethernet power supply so don't buy an extra one. Installation was a snap, and so far it works great. Hope it stays that way! I just dumped my Trendnet 670AP in the trash...was so unreliable in the connection; my office software is extremely touchy and even if connection is lost for seconds, it crashes so have to have consistently reliable wireless connection.ADDENDUM MARCH 18TH 2013; PURCHASED JULY 2012UNIT SUDDENLY QUIT WORKING; Green ring light on it is on, making you think it is working fine, but it is not. Getting my IT person to replace it with a Cisco quality Access Point. I don't plan to buy a Unifi again. There is NO telephone access for tech support.

So if you think you are going to open these up and plug into your poe switch forget it. You have to buy a separate adapter (20 bucks) for that. They do come with a poe adapter for plugging into a wall but it defeats my purpose. I wanted anyone who reads the reviews on amazon to be clear on what they are getting.Might save someone some time. Honestly I can't believe someone would make an access point with poe that wasn't compliant.

Set up is quick with easy installation. Recommend downloading the full Users Guide from the Ubiquiti website for complete information. Also download the latest Unifi Controller software version vs. the included CD. You'll also need extra Cat 5/6 wire to complete the set up.

This was exactly what I was looking for in a wireless AP. The range is unbelievable and I have neighbors that are contemplating cancelling their internet and using mine!!!

Well i managed to install this after 3 days because of unifi controller refusing to work properly on three different computers(Windows Xp, 7, MacOS), downgraded several times my java environment, firewall up, down, changed cables, POE injector,etc.The support never answered e-mail or skype.Managed to install it after putting a virtual machine with Ubuntu and works great since (1 week).We'll see

This is an excellent product. I have not experienced any outages yet, I had one user report slowness from their laptop, my laptop wasn't experiencing the same issue, but after an explanation of their laptop working on other APs, it was rebooted, only to come back up and blow the idea away that this was the access points problem. (Hmm, must still be the laptops issue.)Came with a PoE Injector, which I ended up using, since my Brocade PoE switch would not power the device.... (Interesting.)

I install wireless routers and access points all the time in my job and this has been hands down the best performing wireless device that I have found under $200.00. The first time I installed one it took a bit of time to set it up, maybe an hour. But for me it was not that different from switching between Linksys and say Buffalo. You just need to get used to a different user interface. The real benefit to this product is seen when you add subsequent devices. All that is required is to run the network cable, mount the device and then plug in the PoE power supply. The control software searches for the new access point and then provisions if for you. This is the only access point I would recommend to a client currently. It has incredible coverage and a guest network that keeps visitors happily on the internet but out of your personal data. You can even setup a PayPal account to charge guest if desired. Another great thing is you have the ability to limit the bandwidth of the guest network so they do not hog the bandwidth that you need to run your business.

Where the hell did the 450ft go on my unit? for some reason from my living room to my bedroom i lost 50% of wireless signal and i bought this unit so I could reach the garage and install a security camera. this camera goes NOWHERE near 100ft in wireless range. I have tried downloading the latest software from their website. changed settings inside and out and this unit is a no go. I will go with their nanobridge version which should be superb. the design is great but also i wanted to see if I could configure this unit as a bridge to communicate with my router wireless and that didnt work, for you to do that you need to purchase a 2nd unit which is out of my range.

I normally don't write reviews but this product deserves it. It does what it claims to do. WentFrom weak to no wireless coverage depending on where you were in my house to full strength singal for all wireless devices. Apple/PC's etc...Has a nice look to it and the included PoE injector is great as most consumer switches are not PoE capable.The setup is easy and the software is intuitive. I highly recommend it. Worth every penny.

These are fantastic of hardware. Like someone else mentioned - this isn't anything like a consumer level "wireless router". This product is made for small / medium businesses who need multiple access points, and need enterprise features (like multiple SSID's/802.1q, 802.1x, centralized management, etc). The hotspot / captive portal features are pretty good as well, and would make these great for places providing public wifi access.I do have a few small annoyances (no gigabit, non-standard PoE, etc). But I don't think these issues would necessarily be deal breakers for most smaller or medium businesses. The great thing about these is that they are really inexpensive for their capabilities. Particularly so, given that the Unifi controller software is free. I haven't seen anything as solid as these that come close to the price. Deploying a few of these would likely be close to an order of magnitude less expensive than buying a controller + AP's from a more common enterprise vendor like Cisco or HP.Hopefully some of my annoyances will be resolved as Unifi continues to grow. I'm probably going to buy one or two of the Unifi UAP Mini models soon to try them out as well.

I have tried 4 different routers before I bought this. D-Link, Belkin, Asus, 2Wire (AT&T) all had issues when I moved more than 30 feet from the router, I had so much frustration with them. Now I get good wireless reception anywhere in my house, including in the backyard, which is all the way from the router and across 2 walls and the kitchen. I installed it in less than 5 minutes, so I can't understand why people complain it is too difficult. It is not harder to install than any previous "user friendly" routers I owned. Granted, after having so many issues with my other routers, I learned a thing or two about home network, but I am not an advanced user by any means.Excellent product, very easy to set up in my opinion. Comes with a good SW too. Had it for about a week, will post any updates if I run into trouble.

OMG, this is SO customer unfriendly. Can't set up and can't reach anyone to help, as others have said. Stay away. It may be a good product, but I'll never know.

I have this installed on a small campus of three buildings (5 units) and the coverage is acceptable. The setup is very good and flexable, but this isn't designed for the novice home user. But number of current connections this unit can handle at one time is very limited. For acceptable speed 3-6 devices is the maximum. It was designed to provide cheap coverage with a remote setup and configuration and for that it works well. But it is not the best solution for 25 concurrent connections.

I'm a wireless ISP so I have some knowledge, not a lot, about RF and networks. I installed a couple of dozen of these units in a high school with almost no effort. The coverage is great, the software is really exceptional (you do have to invest some time into assimilating it) and the maintenance is zero! My next project is a 12 story hotel where we will use about 40 units. I have absolutely no compunctions about doing this on any level. They just work! I do use a back end router to do the heavy lifting - hotspot, bandwidth management, client access control - more because of my own familiarity then a limitation of the Unify's.

Need a nice enterprise access point system? Get a few of these and be done with it... no physical controller needed... just install them and let the software find them and do the rest. We have multiple SSIDs setup using multiple VLANs through Cisco switching gear and these work great. Quick and easy to setup and look great when ceiling mounted.

I've been using Ubiquiti hardware for the past two years and this is an excellent product. $80 PoE adapter included in-box allowed me to upgrade my network and have it be pleasing to the wifes eyes. The LED is controllable in the software and the unit is only slightly larger than a smoke detector. This is not a consumer product, but something nice to replace my Aironet 1121G hardware I was previously using. (Another review commented on the complex setup process, keep in mind it is not hardware for your average user).

Very nice, probably reliable, and not that hard to set up contrary to what others have said. But, be aware that it only supports 100Mbit. Kind of defeats the point of 11n rates. I switched to an engenious eap350 and it screams at 1Gbit. If you don't need that, the unifi is possibly a more robust unit.Steve

Just received the unit and although I am a mechanical engineer I feel you need to have intimate knowledge of networks to get the unit working, which I have yet to do after several hours of trial and error and research. Calling customer service will not help as they only allow leaving a voice message and I have not gotten a return call. Sending an email got a return stating "basic installation instructions or requuest will not recieve a live response as this information is available on their website". Going to the website for basic setup directs you to a http: address that will not display. So how is a novice supposed to know how to configure the network settings? I'm confident the product is going to work great if I ever manage to get it working but their support and set up instructions will keep me from ever using Ubiquiti again.

This is the best AP I ever had!I bought one for my home and I was very surprised how easy was to set it up.May be there just one cons - you have to install some special software to your computer to manage it.But anyway I've bought another three devices for my office - it works just fine!

I live in a remolded ranch-style (with an insulated brick interior wall in the middle). The Ubiquiti in the attic allows me to have 2 zones and full coverage. Netflix on the far TV (via both a Wii and a Roku)- win.4 stars because I had issues upgrading the controller software - but honestly after it is configured, I really don't need that software anymore anyway.

First wifi I've had that can keep all my devices connected and not require a reset/reboot every few weeks. Setup was dead simple and the PoE is a must have for allowing me to locate the AP in an optimal location for my house.
