TP-Link Wireless AP/Bridge/Repeater (TL-WA730RE)The product says it works with a Mac OS, but the enclosed instructions do not discuss how to install on a Mac. You have to call tech support. Thirty-eight (38) steps and over a half-hour later, and needing to get an older mac laptop to replace my Mac Air for installation purposes, it didn't work. Tech support didn't know how to solve it other than to start the 38 steps all over again which I declined to do. Although I paid shipping to receive it, I must now pay shipping to return it.

I purchased this router so that I could stream music to my mobile phone while in the yard. My old router, a Linksys wireless B router didn't cut it. With claims like 2x-3x range, I expected to be able to extend WiFi coverage to the edges of my yard (it's a small yard!). While the range of this router is better, the range was extended only 20ft which is much less than the 2X-3X than advertised.I also had a hard time setting the router up. My old Linksys was plug and play but with this router I required 10+ email rounds with customer care with numerous screen snapshots and configuration changes. While the TPlink customer care was very helpful and ended up resolving my issues (it was a subnet configuration issue), it left me wishing I had purchased a different router.

This is a really great product! Setup was a bit tricky but once I got it working it instantly gave me a nice boost to my wireless network. The unit works great and I would recommend to anyone looking to expand their WiFi in dead spotsReview update on 3/1/12: This Access Point still delivers great performance. I also know though testing with my phone and tablet it has great range even grater then my current WiFi router. So this product is still in my book an A+.

After 6 yrs of use my old D-Link DI-514 (802.11b) router stopped working since the power adapter failed. The price is so expensive for a replacement power adapter, i thought i would upgrade to G router since my laptops are already equipped with wireless g adapter. After extensive search, i decided to buy this item from TP-Link. I bought this mainly based on reviews posted by other users.I bought this from amazon 5 days ago for $18. By following the quick installation guide i was able to setup the router in 15 minutes. I used WPA2-PSK security.I have Comcast internet. I use 2 laptops (one personal and one from work) and a Vonage VOIP phone. So far, i did not experience any dropped connection. My old D-Link router used to be like a hot oven while functioning, but this TP-Link router does not dissipate that much heat.Overall i am very satisfied with this product. I would recommend people to buy this product if they want a basic WIFI network at home.-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------update 01/04/2013 - It has been 2 years since i bought this router. It still runs silky smooth..However i recently got thinkpad from work with Windows 7. If i try to connect that via wifi, the router simply kicks out all the connections. I need to power recycle the router to enable connecting the devices again.If i don't connect my work laptop, then no issues. My personal laptop has Windows XP. I will update this post after i find the solution to this problem.

Read the directions and I was able to get this Access Point up and running as a Client in no more than 30 minutes, from set-up at my wired desktop to hooking it up to my Blu-Ray Player. There is nothing on the CD except the WA901ND User's Guide, I used the Web-Based Interface and this interface is even better than the TD-W8960N Modem/Wireless Router that I used to link to the Internet. The interface has most of the User Guide information in a separate pane on the right-hand side of the interface. The Client sync'd up with the Wireless Access Point without any issues and the AP is at the other end of the house and one floor down in the basement. A basic check with my iPod Touch shows full bars all over the house.I was elated to find that the WA901ND had a Bridge w/AP Mode (not listed in the features but is in the Users Guide), however this mode only supports WEP wireless security which makes it useless if you want a secure network. I had to default to Client Mode for my set-up. I wish Bridge w/AP Mode had WPA/WPA2 security like every other mode, maybe this will get fixed in a future Firmware Update.The three antennas are removable with RP-SMA Connectors so you can extend the antennas to a better position if needed.Runs warm but not hot, once I get some antenna extension cables it will be housed in my Home Automation Panel (metal box on the basement wall) and I do not expect any issues with over heating.You can refer to DSLReportsDOTcom, CompnetworkingDOTaboutDOTcom, or NetScribeDOTcom (search for Wireless Design) for a number of useful forums/articles on networking.

The review is coming to you, courtesy of this product. It was very easy to set up and from the time it came out of the box to when it was up and going was just a few minutes...and believe me, if it was possible to be confused and bumfuzzled with an electronic item, I can make it happen. Not so here, easy set up and the strength of the signal seems to be more than adequate. In fact, I now have it streaming movies by way of my BlueRay player to my TV...pretty nifty!!! Anyway, I'm not much of a electronics guy, but this unit was easy to set up and is doing everything I need...that is, two laptops and streaming movies, all going at the same time.

I used this to replace a failed AT&T 2Wire DSL modem/wireless router that they wanted $100 to replace. I can fully recommend this product for even a fairly inexperienced computer user. The instructions are clear and once the antenna is attached and the power, phone, and ethernet cables are connected, the little CD walks you through the rest of the setup. Just pay attention to the settings the instruction sheet lists for your ISP and area. I used WPA security, renamed the SSID to something recognizable and assigned a password. In a few minutes the software finished the install and I was able to connect wirelessly with no problem. The unit was set up in a fairly large 2 BR apartment and a strong signal covered the whole area. I can't vouch for longer distances or up/down stairs.

So here is the deal, i am for the most part very understanding of computers...you would think so i work with them daily; however, something just wasn't right about setting up this router (on my own). Well here is the thing...(If you have DSL modem)***Connect DSL to your Router and your Router to the computer..then use the CD and go through installation. IF* you run into ANY trouble with the installation CALL the number on the box ( 866-225-8139) they may have a lot of calls so just wait until later in the evening if you have a chance.SERVICE IS EXCEPTIONAL!!they will guide you through what web page you need to locate and what buttons to press. It will NOT take you long to setup just make sure you can get an agent on the line if you have trouble.The router is TRUCK'N!!!! working like a charm. I have a xbox kinect and wireless blueray player in living room and ps3 in my bedroom both about 20 ft away (1,300.00 sq ft home) one with few walls between computer and device. Works great!!!!The package receipt condition was not good.... but thankfully nothing was broken!!!!! I Love how things work out!!!!

This is a reasonable Access Point. If you don't know the difference between a router and an Access Point (AP) then this may not be what you are looking for. However, if you want to add additional coverage to your wireless footprint and want to bridge clients right on to you your already existing network, this does the job well.Setup required setting the IP address of my laptop manually, then connecting to the AP's web configuration page, and setting up the parameters such as SSID, WPA/WEP/WPA (radius). The fact that it can do Radius authentication is a plus.Coverage is ok with the built in antenna, it has a standard threaded SMA connector so you can add a higher gain one if you're trying to cover a larger room. Its compatible with iPads, Macs, Windows, and Linux machines using 802.11n adapters and will fall back to 802.11g if necessary.It is pretty cost effective for an AP and its software is GPL'd so you can get a copy from the web site (although I didn't look at what it would take to rebuild/re-install).If it had a bit more range with the standard antenna I'd give it 5 stars, as it is you can easily cover 1200 - 1500 sq ft of a large conference center or one floor of a house.

Perfect router for DSL use. I have Qwest and wasn't happy with the wireless-g that came standard. Tried upgrading to wireless-N using a Trendnet ADSL wireless router, but was greatly disappointed with its performance. Range was even less than the wireless-G, and it would require a reboot at least once a week. Often, it would be every other day.With my wife nagging me each time she lost connectivity, even once a week was too much for that, I decided to try another type of router. Enter the TP-Link. Luckily, I found this while searching the internet, since the router had very good reviews from just about everyone who has tried on their system.Out of the box, everything was there. Removed the POS Trendnet and hooked the TP-Link up to the system. Fortunately, I had a the settings for Qwest written down, so setup was easy. Worked the first time, and coverage is excellent throughout the house, including the garage. I've had for two weeks now and haven't had to reboot even once.If you want to move up to Wireless-N with your DSL system, this router is definitely the way to go, and you will not feel cheated in the process.

The device works as advertised. I have an office in the basement and I use this to connect to my wireless router on the first floor. The signal strength is pretty good.The only negatives are the instructions were not very clear and the tech support was horrible.

Before settling on this router, I was waffling between this and another model three times the price of the TL-WR340G. I am certainly glad I chose this one.For the past month, it has been handling my desktop, laptop, and Wii using a cable internet connection. It has performed flawlessly. Despite numerous large downloads, and streaming music often, I have never needed to reset the router. It has handled everything without slowing down.The only hiccup I had was the initial installation. For whatever reason, the included mini-disc would not work. However, the manufacturer provides an insert with directions for an alternative method, which worked just fine.It is important to note though, that I live in a very small house. The router is centrally-located within it, so I can't speak to what kind of distance this router provides. However, for anyone in an apartment or a small house, this router will be more than sufficient for your needs.

The TP-Link Wireless Router works as claimed. It allows internet access in each room of our 4 bedroon, single story home. I found the system setup to be difficult with our Windows 7 laptop but the companies tech. support was outstanding - and I do not say that lightly. The Asian lady that assisted me refused to accept defeat and would not quit until she had me up and running. So low starts for ease of setup, but 5 stars for their tech support and as many for the price, which was the best I could find. Definitely satisfied with the end result.

I have to give it three stars because of its quality. Everything seems perfect at the first time. After two months of purchase, 2 ports of the router are broken. It was fine for me because I need just two port and wireless to connect with my computers. For the third months, other two ports are broken also. But, wireless is still work. It is just $20, so it did not make me upset about it. After it is broken, I bought Linksys instead. Signal strenght is not good like TP router. Hope TP link can improve their quality, so I can go back to this brand.

I looked on line for a wireless router and saw this one on amazon. I did my research and for the price this one is the best. When I got it in the mail it wasn't as easy to set up as I thought but the 1-800 hotline helped me out and I was all set up in about 20 minues. The signal range is pretty good as I have a 3 bedroom house and a garage I get signal in each room with my laptop and my phone. I highly recommendthis for the price

This router is small, light and powerful. I bought it to set up a home network for my brother and his wife. Plugged it in, ran through the setup and had them browsing on their wireless in no time. Very easy to set up and gives a strong signal. Cannot beat it for the price. I love these kinda toys.

I bought this router about a month ago and shipped it to Trinidad in the Caribbean, actually I jus got it about an hour ago. The set up is very easy, it took me less than 15mins. It comes with a tiny cd and after you pop it in the rom is smooth sailing. The strength seems really strong and the router itself is light and neat. For 20 bucks this is a great buy. Not sure of its durability because I now got it but I will be sure to provide an update. Dont waste your money on an expensive router when this one does the same thing!!!

I needed a repeater to grab my landlords connection (Belkin N1) from the adjacent bldg. This thing was easy enough to setup initially, but it within 5 minutes, the connection would freeze and I'd have to reset it. I proceeded to try a million settings configurations to try and get it to work, but to no avail. Tech support was prompt, but told me all the same stuff I'd already tried. Nothing could fix this issue, so I returned it and got the Hawking HWREN1. It worked right out of the box with no tinkering required; definitely worth the higher price.

Just ignore those negative reviews, this item works perfectly as both a router and an access point. I set up it in 5 minutes at my college dorm, and its signal is strong enough to cover the entire apartment. Very good at 20 bucks.I recommend the router to everyone for daily use. 54Mbps is actually more than enough for regular use, unless you need the router to share files with others. The 54Mbps router can reach a data transferring rate of roughly 1.6~1.8MB/s (very decent as a 54Mbps router), but the rate cannot satisfy most people for this purpose. Try to get a 150Mbps router or above for data transfer. Otherwise, save your money and get this.

This product was so awesome and easy to use, and set up. I had just connected it too my computer about 20 minutes ago and it is as fast as, if not as fast as my previous wired connection (f.y.i this is only 54Mbps.)I've yet to connect my Ipad, PS3,Xbox360, and Wii to the wireless network, but I am getting ready too, but as of right now I highly recommend this product.

Had no issues hooking it up. Internet works well, wii is linked without issues and iphone as well. Internet speeds are a bit slower but no biggy for all i use the computer for.

When I ran into a snag in the last step of the setup, I called tech support and got no answer on the weekend. I called in the evening and got a message telling me to call during the day Monday-Friday. I called before 9am PDT and got now answer. Finally, after 9am, the technician from India walked me throught the steps like this happens all the time and I was able to complete the setup. It works fine now.
