Extra buttons are great.Adjusting the tension doesn't do much.Mouse click face buttons are great.Right stick broke after a couple of months. The controller was great at first. The extra buttons helped with a lot of games, the mouse click face buttons feel much better, and the d-pad is less of a nightmare than the Microsoft controller.Adjusting the tension didn't work as expected; the tension only increased the further the stick was moved from a neutral position, instead of at all positions. It helped a little, but isn't worth the extra money over the standard edition. The problem is the right stick started acting up after a couple of months. Actually, it started acting down. I noticed it the night I started playing Skyrim. The stick's default is down, even when it's in a neutral position, so my character kept looking down even while I wasn't touching the button. This made it completely unusable. It also ruined a couple of races for me in Forza 4 because I kept looking behind me.I can't find a number to call on Razer's website, [...], to ask them to refund my money. If anybody knows how I can do this, that would be great.UPDATE 03.01.2012After writing this review, Razer contacted me and replaced the defective device without any problems. After using it again, I can also say that the sticks are lighter (when loosened all the way) and feel like they have less of a dead zone than the standard 360 controller. I've been using it for Mass Effect 2, and I'm getting more headshots than I ever did with the standard controller. It would be nice if the bumpers and MFBs had the same "mouse click" to them as the face buttons, but it's not a deal breaker and it's nice to be able to reload and move from cover without taking my thumb off the right stick. If you are having issues with your Onza TE, go to [...]. In lieu of mailing mine in, they just had me email a picture of the defective one with the cord cut and the serial number visible. I originally gave this controller a 1 star because it broke, but since they replaced it promptly I'm bumping it up to 4, because it's a great piece of equipment.UPDATE 01.05.2013After a couple more months of use, my replacement controller had the right stick go bad, just like the first one. I contacted Razer immediately, expecting the same kind of expeditious service I got the first time around. Instead, I was ignored. It has been five months and I have contacted them twice more, and still I have had no response. I plan on never buying a Razer product again due to their lack of service when I contacted them without having written a scathing review first, which is a shame considering how much I enjoyed using my Onza TE.

I bought the Razer Onza Tournament Edition in September 2012. I have other Razer products and have always been satisfied so I decided to pick this up.Out of the box, this is a great controller. It feels and looks great. Nice thick braided cable and backlit A-B-X-Y buttons, a very stylish controller. Fits well in the hands as well.During gameplay, it is very responsive. It really has a great feel to it.So why am I unhappy with this product and rating it only two stars? After owning this device for 3 months and only lightly using it for 2 games, it broke. The right analog stick registers a down movement even though I'm not touching it. If you waggle it around, it will stop for awhile but during game play it continues to register down movements. (Not fun when you're trying to snipe a headshot and you have to fight with the camera to stay up). When I looked at the Windows calibration menu, the right analog was registering jittery movements downwards without any input on my part.I'm very disappointed that this controller has only lasted, at best, for 20 hours of game play. I think that's pathetic. I'm not anywhere near a button masher or harsh on it. One day it worked and one day while playing I couldn't stop the camera from pointing at my feet during gameplay. Considering it barely lasted, 2 stars might be generous.Exercise caution when buying as a quick online search shows that this might not just be a problem with my device.(FYI, I submitted a request for a replacement to Razer. I'll update the review depending on how they handle the replacement and if a newer device lasts longer).

Anyway...I. Love. This. Controller.I had to decide between this and the official 360 special edition controller. Being that I'm buying this to play racing games on the PC, were I to buy MS's solution, I'd also have to buy the wireless to USB connection dongle thing. That made my decision easy.I'm darn glad I made this decision. As compared to the official 360 controller, the D-pad buttons are like night and day. The face buttons are AWESOME. The adjustable resistance analogue sticks are...some other complementary adjective I can't think of right now.And the soft touch finish is dreamy as well. The D-Pad buttons are the way (I think) they should be. Very tactile. There is no guessing as to where a button is or if its been pressed. The ambiguity that the official controller has is non existant in this controller. To be fair, the special edition official controller is said to be improved as well, but I feel that with as bad as the "stock" controller is, MS should be shipping the new controller with all new 360s. As far as I know, they are not. However, this is not an editorial, it is a product review. I digress...The face buttons...if you've ever used a mouse, you know how these things feel. Again, EXTREMELY tactile. I am in love. These buttons light up...I could do without the lights. I think they look tacky, but its a Razer product. What do you expect? To be honest, the effect could be worse. But it doesn't completely ruin the look, and it is not so bright as to be distracting in a dark room, so I do not feel that this alone is worthy of a point reduction. The analog sticks? Well, they are a case of six in one hand, half dozen in the other. On one hand, they do change resistance as you turn the stick. You are able to feel the difference, no question. But the way in which they change is just...unnatural is the only word I can think of. Movement directly off center is firm, and as you move outward, tension increases incrementally. Again, this is a very tactile experience, and it works. I just wish there was a way it could be one uniform tension all the way through the range that would be increased. Not "the further out you go, the more tension you have". This is a matter of opinion, so again, not worthy of a point reduction. The extra shoulder buttons? Meh. I could take them or leave them. They cause more issue than they are worth. I've just mapped them to their respective bumper. They aren't bad since I can just remap them to the bumper buttons, but for me, they don't add any functionality. They may in the future, but for now, they are just a couple of extra and unnecessary buttons. This one is completely up to you.Overall, this controller is very, very good. If you get it, I doubt you would have regrets. I just feel that with the lights, the tension, and the shoulder buttons, for _ME_ it would get 4.5 stars. Not quite perfect, but darn close.

The Razer Hydra is the perfect solution for those looking for motion controls on a Windows PC. Thanks to excellent beta software from Sixense's website, called MotionCreator 2.0, it's possible to map motion controls into ANY Windows PC game, whether the game is officially supported or not. Valve's first-party games tend to have Hydra support baked-in, so they provide an even more polished experience. Regardless of official support, the Hydra is responsive, sensitive, and precise.Don't mess around with any of the cheaper motion controllers on the market. They Hydra may seem expensive, but the only other motion controller that works nearly as well is the Nintendo Wiimote, and hacking that into working on Windows is just as expensive and a lot more time consuming than using a Hydra. The only downsides to the Hydra are the fact that the whole thing is wired and that the range of the magnetic field isn't very large. Thus it's necessary to keep the Hydra's base station close-by and properly-oriented while playing. If Amazon's review system supported half-stars, I would have given the Razer Hydra 4.5/5 stars. It's almost perfect, but the wires and the fact that the drivers are still technically beta software knocks off half a star.Read my full impressions of the Razer Hydra at MeltedJoystick.

There are 2 ways to control your moves in fighting games, either with the Left Analog Stick, or by using the Dpad. I am a Dpad person, so I purchase this controller since if offers a different type of Dpad. Unfortunately the Dpad is NOT good for fighting games. The 4 directional buttons have their own separate button pieces, and unfortunately those 4 pieces are rather large size, and are very uncomfortable to press rapidly. I tested Marvel vs Capcom part 2 and I had a lot of trouble performing Wolverine's Tornado Claw flying uppercut. Now if you are a person who prefers to use the Left Analog Stick, then you will enjoy this controller. When you set the resistance to zero, then both analog sticks will feel very lose, comfortable, and easy to use.So if you are a Left Analog Stick person, then you will be OK. But if you are a Dpad person, then you will not like the Dpad.SECOND BAD POINT:This is not a big deal, it's just a minor issue. With the standard Microsoft 360 controller, the trigger buttons are built with "curved edges". With this Razer controller, the trigger buttons are built with "sharp edges". So after playing for an hour or two, the sharp edge may start to hurt your trigger finger.THIRD BAD POINT:Related to #1 at the bottom below. The resistance is very good for snipers who want to perform perfect headshots. The resistance makes the movement slower and easier to control with a zoomed in view. But there is a drawback for when you switch to a different weapon. When I switch to a regular machine gun, I need the movement to be very fast and speedy. My enemies will try to get away from me by dodging and jumping to the left and right. I need to be able to keep my crosshairs on my enemy as they are dodging, or running away from me. The tight resistance of the Right Analog Stick makes it difficult to keep the crosshairs on a fast moving enemy. So the resistance is Excellent for a zoomed in/slow moving sniper view. But it is not so good for other weapons which require very fast movement.GOOD POINTS:Here are some things that I really like about the controller.#1 - The analog stick resistance does in fact work as advertised. I tested it with Gears of War part 2 and when I used the sniper rifle, it was very easy for me to perform perfect headshots with the sniper rifle.#2 - The input buttons, A B X Y, are VERY RESPONSIVE. They require very little pressure to activate them, so they respond very quickly.#3 - The whole controller feels very comfortable in the palm of your hands. The soft rubber material is very easy grip.#4 - Stronger vibration, force feedback. When I'm playing Bayonetta, you can hold the Y button in order to charge her sword. When I charge her sword, it feels like I have a mini-earthquake in the palm of my hands. The vibration is very strong, so it feels like you are holding an actual vibrating sword in your hands !!!Overall a very good controller. I recommend that you purchase it. I also recommend a second product called the FPS Freek by KontrolFreek. It is a product that you attach to the analog sticks, making the analog sticks taller. They work with the REGULAR Microsoft 360 controller, so you will NOT have the Razer drawback of having tight resistance when you switch from a sniper rifle, to another weapon that requires fast movement.

I'll keep it short and simple. The Pros:1. Feels great when holding; the form factor is fantastic, the comfort is fantastic2. The directional pad having independent buttons is awesome and aids in avoiding misdirection3. The rubberized grip feels perfect and aids to avoid slippage and some hand moisture4. The braided cord is so heavy duty I could use it to repel down walls with, so no fear of damage thereNow for the Cons:1. The quality assurance team probably didn't spend longer than a day playing with it because its LOADED with bugs2. There is a commonly known problem with the directional sticks drifting after only mild usage (its repairable via YouTube videos but a pain to do so)3. The RB and LB buttons will lose sensitivity after about a months worth of playing depending upon how hard you press them (imagine misfires galore in FPS shooters)4. The button remapping feature will reset back to factory randomly out of the blue5. I'm on my 2nd Onza TE controller and now the 2nd one is bad as well with "all" of the above problems as was the previous controller6. Don't expect much by way of support for it; the support site has more complaints than solutions; and what solutions are there typically end in, "Send it back and they will exchange it"All in all, the controller feels great, looks great and makes an honest attempt at actually being a professional Xbox 360 controller in concept, but the actual quality of the device itself is just pathetic. Stick with the standard controller and buy some rubberized grips or extensions to make it larger in your hands and get used to that instead.

Well, I bought this controller completely aware that it lacks build quality, but I don't see it yet or any sign. I love the extra RB/LB and the buttons on them are extremely sensitive, you barely tap them and they respond. I didn't set the extra Rb/LB to have any second functions. The controller has rubberized feel to it making it very comfortable, the start/back buttons are in a weird place but I'm ok with that as I'm already use to it. The tension changing for the thumbsticks is also very useful which I like them a little more tense then loose for better sniping on all games. The D-pad is amazing for gears of war, I NEVER select the wrong weapon any more, before it'd happen 5% of the time. The controller itself looks amazing, and so does the case I have the case up for display near my Xbox360. This controller isn't very good for games like street fighter, but for Camp of Duty, Halo, and Gears of War, it is a wonderful advantage to have.Overall I love the controller. I've had it only for a week, I'll update this review if it breaks or gets weird, but I won't mind having to get it replaced every 3 months as I love it and have some back-up controllers.EDIT: The normal right bumper for this controller will now only work 50% of the time, i have requested a return/replacement on the razerzone site. I will keep this review at a 2 star until I am replied back to and get my product repaired or replaced!EDIT: They have agreed to send me a new controller, I absolutely LOVE Razer. The process to request a replacement was TORTURE though as they asked me to cut the wire, take a picture and send it to them. This was so tough but it got me a replacement, thank you Razer =).

I have not had the hydra for very long but I am so far very impressed with it. It works just as it says it should.Keep in mind that if you're not used to motion controls, which is likely for many people, it will take a lot of getting used to. It is very accurate and if programmed right, it can really enhance your gaming experience! I played Skyrim with it for a bit and I'm not very good with it yet but that's all just a matter of playing the game differently, not a reflection on the quality of this controller.I say not for the faint of heart for a good reason. I hope that they improve the support for games and the ease of which to set up your own games. For now, if your game does not have a motion creator configuration, you'll be left with programming it yourself and setting up the controls, buttons and motions. That's not something that many gamers will want to do, so that's a warning. If you don't have a problem configuring your games for it yourself, then I highly recommend this controller. Once you get the configuration right, it works superbly. In summary:Pro: It does what it says it will do and does it very well.Con: You need to do a lot of complex configuring for games not yet supported.

I could get into some lengthy, in-depth pros and cons for this thing, most of which would be pros - but the deal breaker is when the right trigger won't fire properly in multiplayer. This started happening just after a week or so of gameplay in Mass Effect 3 (I bought the controller mostly for this game - it even has the game branding on it) It doesn't always fire my weapon and when it does it only gives a short burst then disconnects again. It's very frustrating. One time I got so frustrated with this I unplugged it mid-game and picked up my regular controller, but the second one thought it was 'player two', so I couldn't control my character. After 30 second of 'WTF', I got kicked from a gold match I'd spend time fighting in.The controller is past the in-store return period, so that makes me unhappy. I don't think Razer will give me a refund - at best an exchange, but the same problem could happen again after a few more months of gameplay. I already had plenty of regular xbox controllers, but I thought I'd drop some money on taking my game to the next level, and it did: one level down.

The controller worked great when I first got it. The high response face buttons felt great and very snappy, as did the should bumper buttons. The triggers were a little weird to get used to but once I did I found them to be a great improvement over the regular wired xbox 360 controllers that Microsoft sells. However, the controller came packed in one of the most ridiculous packages I have ever seen. The box for the controller itself was double bagged inside of two cellophane bags and sealed with a clear tape that was difficult to find to get them off. Once I managed to get the box out of the cellophane bags and opened it I discovered that almost everything else inside of the box was packaged the same way, with the wire not only being inside of two cellophane bags but also being wrapped up inside of some strange foam. All this was tucked behind a piece of plastic that had the controller on the other side, meaning that you had to get your way through the convoluted packaging to free the controller from the piece of plastic it was attached to. After all of this hassle, the controller broke after 2 days. There are these wheels on the under sides of the joy sticks that are there to adjust the resistance of the sticks to your liking, and after never even touching them the right wheel somehow became jammed into the position of highest resistance, and I was unable to fix the problem necessitating my return of the controller.UPDATE:I got my replacement controller 2 days later, and it broke in less than 12 hours. The right bumper button just stopped working and I cant get any sort of response from it at all. Avoid this controller like the plague and learn from my mistakes and just get yourself an official Microsoft replacement controller. If the promise of a collector assault rifle code is also tempting you to order this, then don't worry, the gun is horrible. The starting equipment in multiplayer is far superior to it so don't allow that to influence your decision to buy this controller.

I have been using Razer's gaming mice for the better part of a decade without a single issue. I have had several going as far back as the Copperhead and always found them to be highly accurate, adjustable, and durable. I used them for gaming and also regular internet and computer use on an all day, every day basis. Not. One. Issue.So...I saw this controller and as an avaid Battlefield 3 player and fan of Razer's product I knew I would have to have it. I read the reviews and saw the complaints people had and then totally ignored them all. I got it and it is remarkable! It feels great, there are 2 new buttons (programmable), the 'start' and 'back' layout is different than an OEM controller, it is just barely slightly larger than an OEM but not enough to make you notice, the button presses are shorter and quicker, it is hyper accurate, the adjustable thumbsticks are easy to use and pretty sweet if you ask me, the button presses are shorter and quicker, the 2 programmable buttons are great, the backlit buttons are cool looking, and it comes with a nice 15' cord for those of us who's XBOX sits a fair distance from our favorite gaming seat.It takes a little time to get adjusted to but for those who said they had a dead spot in the stick, I have not experienced that. Someone also said that the buttons make a loud, distracting, clicking noise and they do click but it's an ever so slight and quite noise that I don't know who would really have a complaint about it. I've also seen complaints about where they moved the 'start' and 'back' buttons to the bottom and took away the headphone port that works with some communicators. You will have forgotten about where they moved the two buttons after the first game you play with it and get used to it and let's be honest...no one talks on Live anymore anyway. Yes it has a cord but I tend to think that if a controller is going to be hyper-accurate, it will have to be plugged in so as not to lose any processing/transmitting power to the XBOX. As far as the cord goes, it is a nice heavy duty, braided, 15' cord. It's like push button start in cars...we've been plugging wired controllers into consoles for the last 30 years and all of a sudden a controller isn't worth it because it has a wire. Get over it.All in all this is another A+ product from Razer who has my full support and recommendation for the products they make for gaming. I love this controller and I know it will give me many years of great use just as there mice have. Maybe it's the controller or maybe it's in my head but my ratios and percentages have already gone up in BF3 and I can't wait to play more tonight!

Well, I purchased one of these when it first came out... I'm now on my 3rd controller. Honestly, the controller is great, it somehow improves on Microsoft's already stellar design; however, read below because it's not all fine-and-dandy.Pros:The longer triggers are great, and the buttons are also great. The thumb-sticks have a greater range of motion than the Microsoft 360 controller, and I definitely did better using the Onza in FPS games when switching back and forth (immediate and noticeable difference aiming). The wire on the controller is plenty long unless you like to sit 40 feet from your TV. The coating is more comfortable, and the controller is more comfortable for my hands in general. The adjustable tension rings are also nice, however, if you like your thumb-sticks stiff, it seems to make it more difficult to push the thumb-sticks all the way in one direction. (Pressure increases as you move away from the resting thumb-stick position--particularity towards the very edge.) Also, on all 3 Onzas I've had (more on that later), I've experienced more difficulty clicking the thumb-sticks when the tension is high.Cons:Reliability. My first controller worked great, and then the left trigger began glitching out. When zooming in Black Ops, the scope would spazz in and out, but sometime work perfectly. Amazon was great and sent me a new one. It had trouble out of the box, the right thumb-stick resistance adjustment ring didn't work at all, while the left thumb-stick developed problems with pushing up and clicking. (A common set-up for "running" in many games.) Amazon was gracious again, and allowed me to return it and get a new one... unfortunately, it also is developing the dreaded left-thumb-stick problem.PC Users:It is not detected as an official 360 controller, which has caused me some problems in Assassin's Creed. It's hard to explain but even though it says it's a Xbox 360 controller, some games notice that it is not the Microsoft 360 controller and so some of the axis and buttons are not assigned correctly. It's very strange, and I've contacted Razer, but they didn't seem interested in the problem, giving me a canned response. In short, it doesn't use the official Microsoft 360 controller software/driver and therefore causes some issues on PCs.Final Thoughts:Knowing what I know now, I would probably have never bought one, but since I did, I can't do without it. Which is unfortunate, because they are so unreliable. I was hoping the new BF3 edition would have been improved and the problems would be fixed, but it appears they are plagued with the exact same problems. If you are lucky enough to own one with no problems, I'd go out on a limb and say it may be the best 360 controller out there.

I got it today and already I think it was worth the 40 bucks I spent on it. I've been playing Super Street Fighter IV Arcade Edition on Steam and it hasn't been much fun trying to find the right controller for it. A regular 360 controller felt to sloppy, I had a Versus Fightpad for PS3 which was nice until the up-left and down left directions stopped responding all together so games were fun until you get stuck on the right side. A PS2 controller with a USB adapter was fun but I heard about the Razer Onza and read enough good reviews to decide to order it. I have the Tournament Edition and I admit I haven't played with that long but Super SFIV is the best way I can think of to test out the controller and make a solid judgement call on it.Out of the box, the controller feels very good, it has a really nice grip to it and the overall feel is very good. The cord is like nothing I've felt before, it feels very sturdy and well made, it has kind of a rope texture to it. The face buttons feel different than a regular 360 controller they feel like they take less to push down on, very quick response and great for fast paced gaming, there are four shoulder buttons and two triggers which is cool choice. The four shoulder buttons remind me of the L1 and R1 of the PS3 controller and the triggers are interesting, they protrude more and have kind of a spike design but they press down the same as 360 where it has that attention to how much pressure is applied to the trigger. The start and select are down low on the controller and that kinds some getting used to but it's nice having it out of the way. The D-pad is the star of the show, each direction is split off like any good d-pad which makes it great for 2D fighting games when you want the precision to pull of all sorts of special moves from the Ryu style to M. Bision's charge style. The Analog stick is also very nice, I like the 360 controller but it really is a controller for FPS games and racing. The Onza really feels precise with analog control and I found myself pulling off special, super, and ultra moves with total ease. The controller feels very well made and sturdy, I hope it does last as long as it sounds like it was made to last for. It also works great for PC games since games detect it the same as a MS brand 360 controller, even the Xbox button will bring down the Games For Windows Live sign in menu. If you don't have 200 bucks to spend on an arcade replica fight stick then this would be the best controller alternative that I've used.

The gamepad is extremely precise when compared to the "stock" 360 wireless controller. The input lag is reduced to near zero allowing you to target and track enemies better. This I would assume is due to the controller being wired. The programmable buttons are a nice feature. I have the right one programmed to the back button in order to "spot" enemies in BF3 without having to remove my thumb from the sticks. I have yet to find a good use for the left one. I've tried reload, run, etc. None really make a big difference, but it's nice to have the option.I have a couple complaints, but not deal breakers by any means. The button clicks which most people seem to like, annoy me. They're just too loud. I would prefer a quieter and smoother button press. The directional pad though nice that it is "digital" rather than "analog" (best way I can describe it), reduces mistakes but can be difficult to depress at times.Overall it's a great controller. The best aftermarket one I've used. A must for any XBOX 360 gamer.

I loved this controller for the first few months after I received it. The controller feels very comfortable in the hand and it felt very natural. A few months after I received this, the adjustable resistance modifier broke and it's stuck on low resistance. I can still use the controller, but it feels very awkward in some games where you would want high resistance like when you're sniping. Another issue I had with this controller was the triggers; the triggers felt weird and it's not something you would feel comfortable playing an FPS with. Some of the features on this controllers were great like the hyperesponse active buttons and the two programmable triggers, but overall this controller was BAD. I would recommend getting their newer version of this controller,"sabertooth", because it fixed the problems this controller has and instead of remappable triggers, it has the remappable buttons on the bottom.

I have had several razor producst over the year including headphones, keyboards, mice to this controller. It was the last straw. Most last, if lucky, a few months. This controller lasted up til my second time of use. I left it in the box and unpacked it for the new Tomb Raider game. I noticed Lara kept wanting to move backwards. Went to windows and controller settings and sure enough the stick was trying to move down constantly.Looked it up online, tons of people having this and very similar issues (with the right stick and trigger buttons). I watched a video on how to repair it and tried it, still didn't work.I took very great satisfaction in taking the controller outside and smashing it to bits with a hammer.Everything razor makes is with the cheapest parts imaginable and rarely last more than a year. I have never been more disgusted with a company.PLEASE do not waste your hard earned money on this non-sense. The fact that there are more 1 stars than 5 should tell you something.

I've owned this controller for a little over a month now, played games like Call of Duty: Black Ops, Dragon Age 2, The Adventures of Captain Smiley, Portal:Still Alive and countless demos.First the good/great things about the controller:+The controller and the top of the analog sticks are coated in rubber, similar to the Call of Duty:Black Ops controller; the Onza is not as coated as thick as the BO controller and it makes the Onza GREAT for marathon gaming sessions.+15 ft long cord is plenty long enough if you are worried about length when compared to the wired or wireless M$ version.+The cord is braided to combat the cord from getting tangled and to help to keep it from getting frayed.+XYAB buttons plus bumpers are clicky buttons that give with a satisfying click when the button/s are pressed.+Mappable shoulder buttons work well once you train your self to use them(they are GREAT for games like Call of Duty or even some action games that require the face buttons when in combat).+Slightly longer thumb sticks than the standard M$ controller. I no longer use the FPS Freek attachment/s( I don't need them now with longer sticks)+You can recalibrate your Onza controllers to the increased sensitivity of the 45 degree calibration(VERY sensitive!, should get rid of any "dead zone" if you are experiencing this)compared to 90 degree of the official controller. The Onza is configure to the 90 degree out of the box.+The Triggers are very sensitive only need to pull trigger about 1/2 way to register a button push.+Comes with Ring of Whispers DLC for Dragon Age 2+ Dragon Age 2 graphicsThe Bad:-You cannot use the M$ Chat pad with the controller.-When using the wired headset when someone in your party or game is done speaking there is a faint click sound after they are done speaking.(this does not bother me too much, because it lets me know when they are completely done speaking).-To me the worst thing about the controller is the D-Pad. It works excellent for game like Call of Duty and other FPS games. The D-Pad is not very good for fighting games or action/arcade games if you are using it to control the character. The reason for this is because the D-pad are four individual buttons instead of the flat like on the 360, it is similar to the ps2/3 D-pad but the issue with the Onza is the buttons are raised up too high from the controller, if it was flush with the controller or close to flush it would be great. The Average:=The Light up face buttons. They are nice but when turning the controller to certain angle you can see the light shine through.=The Start and Back buttons are moved to the bottom of the controller, not terrible to me you get used to the spot eventually.=The placing of the bumpers and multi function buttons are too close together(in the beginning to me) I have gotten used to the buttons now and it is second nature to use them.=It is wired(not Razer's fault M$ does not allow 3rd party manufacturers to make wireless controllers.)Overall, The Razer Onza controller is a great alternative to the stock Microsoft controller, it even bests the official controller is some areas. It is a excellent first effort by Razer and I am looking forward to any future revisions to this series of controllers. Great controller for Dragon Age 2/Bioware fan!

I preordered the Razer Onza TE, and ever since I received it, I've been loving it. At it's core, this controller is really built for FPS games. The adjustable tension thumb sticks are a true highlight, and I have used this function to tighen my right thumbstick for more precise (and less jumpy) aiming in shooters. Meanwhile, I have loosened my left thumbstick to make it easier to run in different directions. The programmable buttons have also really improved my fps play. I setup the right programmable shoulder button to equal pressing down on the right thumbstick. So in games like Call of Duty or Crysis, I can simply press that right programmable shoulder button to perform a melee attack. This is so much easier and faster than having to press down on the actual thumbstick button when in close quarters, and as a result, I almost always get my knife or punch off before others.Likewise, I setup the left programmable shoulder button to equal pressing down on the left thumbstick. This allows me to sprint in Call of Duty and Crysis without the need to hold down the left thumbstick button. Again, this give me much more freedom of movement when sprinting.Because the programmable shoulder buttons are directly in front of the regular shoulder buttons, it can be awkward at first to hit the intended button. So you might be trying to pull a grenade, but instead, accidentally hit the right programmable shoulder button, etc. After some practice, you start to get used to it, however. As mentioned in the Kotaku review, the face buttons click like mouse buttons, so they are very responsive, and if you are trying to win a button mash war, i.e., gears of war, you are almost always going to win. You simply can't press the regular Xbox controller's face button as fast as the Razer Onza TE, because the regular controllers buttons are so big and clunky. The back lighting on the face buttons is a nice feature, but one that doesn't really impact me all that much. It's just eye candy. And the rubbery feel of the controller, as mentioned by Kotaku is really nice. Some people don't like the trigger buttons, and it's true that they don't fit against the joint of your inner trigger finger like the regular Xbox controller's triggers do. Instead, the triggers will rest closer to the tips of your fingers. I still like the feel for the triggers, but they do feel more plastic like and less weighty than the standard Xbox's triggers. The controller also provides nice force feedback, so no complaints there. And for people looking for a good controller to use on PC, this is a sure bet. It works on both Xbox 360 and PC.The DPAD on the Razer Onza TE is great for shooters, because the four separate buttons ensure you will draw the weapon or ability you intended, but as fighting game fans have stated, it's not designed for sweeping movements, so you might struggle in games like Super Street Fighter and the new Mortal Kombat. But if you are a true fighting fan, you probably have a Madcatz SF tournament edition joystick anyway.I should also mention that the controller's cord is super long, which for people like me with a large living room, that's a good thing, but if you are sitting in front of your computer, you might feel like you have yards of cord just laying around.Overall, I love my Razer Onzer TE, and it's now my controller of choice.

I first got the controller and I admit the triggers were strange, but I got used to them quickly. And the adjustable analog sticks are an awesome idea/feature. I tinkered with them a little bit until I got the proper set up for Battlefield. And then I'd play around with them for a few seconds each time I started playing a different game (Obviously, different setups are needed for things like Madden, CoD, or Skryim, just to name a few). But about two weeks after using it, my select button started acting up. I would get menus/time outs sometimes after I clicked in the left analog stick, or if I just gently touched the select button. And about a week after that my right analog stick went out once or twice. I was playing a racing game when all of a sudden I was no longer accelerating. And now it happens so frequently that I mapped the RT to the extra programmable bumper. But I just returned it because I can't play all of my games like this. As my title says, I really want to recommend this controller, but I can't.

When I use it to play Halo 4 I feel like Darth Vader skimming down the Death Star trench taking out X-Wings, with each kill making adjustments to the control sticks. The extra shoulder button are nice but I don't really need them. The Razer handles far better than the Microsoft cordless, I love the placement of the select and start button- they are more accessible and less likely to be accidentally bumped in a button masher like dead space. Even the D-pad is more precise- this is good for me since most of the games I play, it only functions as a weapon select.Response times are better, the only thing is that the cord is very long and takes some getting used to since running cordless was great. I went back to the cord because my game space in small and compact. I have a 32" TV and it sits in the corner of my Man-cave. So this controller is really good for space that don't involve traffic and small children (really don't need the KID to yank you in the middle of Black Ops).

Both my friend and I owned this for a couple of weeks and after that the left trigger started to not stick. In shooters like Call of Duty and Mass Effect where the left trigger is used to Aim Down the Sights, this results in seizure-ish like stuttering when raising your weapon. The weapon will not be raised for the entire time you hold down the trigger it will be raised and then put down and raised again then put down again very quickly making it hard to aim or even shoot since the weapon needs to be raised to fire. The left stick button also began to not work as well for sprinting in Halo and Call of Duty where it would not register the button press. In games like Assassin's Creed where Left trigger is used to go in to high profile free running mode, sometimes this will not even register and you will not be able to free run and you will continue to just jog.I have to bang the trigger on the floor or my hand to make it work temporarily but the problem is intermittent which is not acceptable for a gamer grade controller :/

I preordered the Onza TE directly from Razer the day it was announced. I was part of the first few waves of preorders to go out to customers. When I received my Onza, straight out of the box, the right stick resistance wouldn't adjust. The resistance adjuster worked just fine for the left stick, but the right stick stayed "loose". Okay. That gave me a pretty negative impression on the get go, when I discovered next that the X button didn't register in any games. Wow. Just wow. So I called up Razer to get some good customer service, because they gave me the run around via email - when I got a live representative, I discovered that if I were to send back my brand new but defective Onza TE, they'd have to take an additional month to either repair or replace the unit because of the number of preorders in place. Well wait a minute. I placed my preorder way before those other people they are fulfilling orders for, shouldn't they take care of me first, and replace my defective unit ASAP? No. They could not.I was so disgusted at that point I asked them for a RMA so I could return the whole thing. I am not a quality tester for them. Much to my chagrin, when they finally processed my return, they gave it to me less the originally shipping cost that I had paid them - $10.55. I emailed them to complain: "Hello, I paid $55.54 for a Razor Onza TE, that was broken. I requested a refund because I was so unhappy with the situation but I got shorted roughly 10 dollars (Refund Details: Order ID: XXXXXXXXXXX Amount: $44.99). Why? I ordered a brand new product - but received a broken one - so I wanted a full refund because I don't want to deal with a replacement, but lost $10 dollars in the process? You guys have your broken merchandise back - so I don't know why I lost 10 dollars in the process for Razer's mistake. Please make this right. Thanks."Razer's response: "Hello, We refunded you the cost for the product. The 10.55 was for the shipping cost, we cannot refund that amount because that amount goes to the shipping company, and not us Your customer number is XXXXXXXXXXX Please refer to case #:: XXXXXXXXXXX if you have any further questions. If you need further assistance, you can also reach us online at [...]. Please include all previous replies when/if responding to this message.Best Regards,Ye Y. at Razer Technical Supportsupport-us@razersupport.com"That is disgustingly bad customer service Razer. You should have sent a working product to your customer who preordered your product - when if was found defective, you should have replaced it immediately, not a month later "maybe". Finally, when giving a refund because you could not provide a working product in a timely matter, you should have refunded the whole amount, not less the cost of shipping because it is NOT the customer's fault you shipped out a defective product in the first place.

I've had this controller for a week or so now, and I'd just like to go over my experiences with it. Below are my pros/cons.PROS:1. Rubberized texture and grip fits into the hand better than the stock controller. It feels better, and is comfortable for extended use. (Where the official 360 controller can hurt your hands)2. The braided cable is thick and very sturdy. It is unlikely to break, fray, or split when your cat gnaws on it.3. Cabled controller means that the response times feel a lot more fluid and fast. The controller never "goes to sleep" like the wireless one does.4. Backlit keys are perfect for gaming at night.5. Works on BOTH Xbox 360 and PCCONS:1. Controller feels a little too light. It would have been nice for a little more weight in it. Feels a little cheap.2. As mentioned above, the braided cable is strong but it sucks having an unsightly cable all over your living room floor.3. The "start" and "select" buttons are inconveniently placed.4. The dual shoulder-buttons require some getting used to.Conclusion:This is a very nice controller. I actually got this as a backup controller for when my official wireless 360 controller ran out of batteries or failed, and so far it hasn't let me down. There is no doubt about it... this controller feels BETTER in the hand than the official controller. The button presses feel good, and require less effort than it does on the official controller. I use this controller for Dead Island and it works great. The response time is faster than the wireless controller (it's hard to notice, but you do see it) and the light weight of the controller also means that your hands won't get tired as easily.I really enjoy this controller, and it works very well for casual gaming and competitive gaming alike. I haven't gotten around to programming any custom keys to mine yet, (still trying to get a feel for it) - There is a little stiffness at first, and it's clear that after some use the controller will loosen up and be properly broken in.If I could change anything on this controller, I would have made it support the Microsoft Chatpad, and also moved the start/select buttons to their original positions. On top of that, the dual shoulder-pad buttons are cool for some games, but in games like Dead Island you'll sometimes find yourself accidentally hitting that upper shoulder button instead of the correct one, (which doesn't do anything) ... so it does take some getting used to.If you're looking for a good controller, I would go for one of these over a Mad Catz or some other crap controller.

I have no real complaints with this device. It feels great, I love the rubberized finish - gives a better grip than the official microsoft controller. The layout of buttons/sticks feels a lot more natural in the hands. Extra buttons are a breeze to program - just a simple press of the button. The only 2 small gripes I have are the center "xbox" button is just a sticker inside a rubber button and looks cheap. Its not a carved out plastic molded button like on the microsoft version. The other issue is there are slight deadzones on the thumbsticks. You can move each stick about 2mm in any direction and its not detected by the device. Only noticeable if you are looking for it, though.Overall, a great product. Comfortable, easy to program and use, and the additional features (extra buttons and tension knobs) add usability to the already amazing Microsoft controller.
