The headset is incredible! I will be keeping this one.It has rich sound for music and clear calls. It has controls for everything unlike most others (an easy to use volume rocker, power slide switch, call button, and mute button). The call button doubles as the voice dialing button by holding it down and the mute button does other things like play/pause while listening to music and voice prompts for the headset's built-in voice commands (yes, it has commands of it's own like 'pairing mode', 'redial', 'connections', etc.) It will also tell you how much talk time you have and what phones are connected. Voice prompts are nice (good quality female voice - very clear).7 hours battery life is great! It outlasts my phone's battery with normal use (for example, listening to Pandora, my phone will die way before the headset, which will still report 3-4 hours remaining and phone totally dead.Caller id by name for all contacts who are in your phone (this was a must for me, as I've been using the Motorola CommandOne which also has this and now can't live without it.)It senses when you're wearing it. If you take it off your ear it either pauses music or transfers call to phone and vise versa. If not on a call or doing anything and you take it off your ear it goes into low power standby. It connects very fast. This seemed like a small thing to me at first, but after experiencing it in real life I have found out how useful it is. For example, with my other headsets, I would take them off my ear when I was at home, eating dinner or watching TV, or even other times the headset wouldn't be near me and I wanted to make a call or receive a call, I always had to manually switch from bluetooth back to phone every time. With this one, if it's not on your ear it doesn't take over your phone; calls come straight in on the phone. If you then decide you want to talk on the headset, just put it on your ear and call transfers instantly, take it off and call goes back to phone.Did I mention good sound? Excellent lows and highs - music sounds great! They don't specifically state 'HD Audio' anywhere, but trust me, it is. I've tried several that claim they are HD; some good and some bad, but this one has the best sound I've heard on any of them. It's very comfortable as all voyagers are but this one is more streamlined.I can't say noise cancellation is any better or worse than others. I have a Jawbone Era, which seems to have very good noise cancellation, so I compared that with this one and they seem similar. Wind noise also seems about the same; your caller will still hear wind noise if you're out in a strong wind on either of these, but may not be as bad as others. (I don't think there is any headset that can completely eliminate wind noise, despite their claims.)The only cons are the magnetic charging connector, although nice requires their cable which is USB and it's only maybe 8 inches long which I can't understand. Works fine for me with my charging station though. It has multi point but when connected to two phones it doesn't seem to announce caller by name (not sure why and I haven't investigated this yet.) Also, it plays this annoying musical ringtone prior to announcement the caller's name; I would have preferred a simple, shorter tone like most others have. The headset is updatable, so maybe this is something they will consider changing in a future update, or at least give us a choice.I can't speak to the 300 foot range as my phone is not class 1, so I am limited to the normal 33 foot range. However, the connection is very stable within that range. I've had no problems with it disconnecting at all throughout the day.All and all, best headset I've owned. I wear it all day, from about 7:00AM until around 7:00PM (sometimes longer) and I hardly notice I have it on.UPDATE 10/30/2012Ok, so after using the headset for a few weeks in the real world, I have more details to provide on my experience and I have also lowered my overall rating to three stars accordling and also had to change the review title from "Best Headset I've Owned Thus Far".The goods:Still love the audio quality for listening to music and for hearing callers. I also still find that it is very comfortable to wear all day.The bads:Although I still like the headset, the following things (some big, some small) are annoying, and many of them could likely be fixed, if Plantronics put forth a little effort in an update. The volume level of the voice announcements is VERY low and CAN NOT be adjusted. Unless I am in a very quiet place (which is not reality, as I am often out and about in stores, riding the bus, outside, etc.) you can not hear anything, like who is calling, battery level, etc. The fact that you can not choose a level that's suitable to you, the user makes the feature nearly useless. The volume for calls and listening to music is pretty good. It could be slightly louder for me when I'm in noisier places, but I'm pretty happy with it as is.

Does product evolution improve the breed? That was my question when this new Plantronics Bluetooth headset appeared here on Amazon. For one who has owned a few of the Plantronics Voyager PRO-series products, it seemed to be a logical question, yet what may be an improvement in one person's eyes (and ears) may not be better for another. The new Plantronics Voyager Legend Bluetooth Headset at first glance seems to be an evolved product, more than anything. It has the basic lines that were started with the original Voyager PRO headset, yet there's a certain refinement in it's newer, more streamlined design. Boom-style headsets are not for everyone, but out of those on the market, it appears that Plantronics has chosen wisely to evolve a popular and respected design and take it to a higher level. But first let me tackle both the good and bad from the perspective of an owner of a number of these over the years.? Likes:+ Voice commands: being able to say "answer" when your hands are busy is good+ Mute button; excellent for when you want privacy+ Improved ergonomics; actually more comfortable and functional that PRO-series+ Nano-coating; moisture protection against the elements in inclement weather+ Multi-point connection; allows pairing of two phones, answers from either+ Greatly improved noise cancellation; a welcome improvement+ Comfortable in extended use; can "wear" it for hours+ Superb sound quality; triple-mike technology works+ First-rate controls; power, volume and call control+ Automatic voice prompts alert battery & mute status+ Excellent and clearly written instructions+ Single charge standby up to 11 days+ Talk time; up to 7 hours, verified? Dislikes:- Rechargeable battery is non-replaceable? On the Fence:* Proprietary magnetic snap-fit charger portFirst Impressions:Having owned both the original Voyager PRO and the Voyager PRO+, I generally knew what to expect. But this new one is supposed to be an improved product, so I was interested to see if it was that much better. Upon arrival, I opened it immediately; the packaging was excellent, though care is suggested when removing it from the ingenious box. The instruction manual is written in a very clear and concise fashion, with easy-to-follow text and good illustrations. Followed the directions and charged the unit for the suggested 90 minutes using the new-style charger.Note on the New Charger:The prior Voyager PRO-series had used a microUSB connector, which had been a strong plus, and this new proprietary magnetic snap-fit charger was a surprise. But this really isn't new technology, as my MacBook Pro uses a proprietary `MagSafe' power connector that they introduced in 2006. The concept is that if it's tugged or snagged, it will disconnect from the socket safely, without damaging the connector or the computer power socket. It just takes getting used to.In Use:One might think that when looking at this Bluetooth headset it might be uncomfortable, especially if one wears glasses as I do, but that's not the case. Though the battery pack portion which rests behind the ear appears larger than many on the market, it is quite comfortable, as I had found from earlier experiences with the original Voyager PRO series, but this one is slightly smaller and more compact. The pairing couldn't be simpler, and was a non-issue with my BlackBerry. Tried it later with an iPhone as well, and again there were no problems. Found that the standard medium ear tips were a perfect fit, and then tried each of the additional ones that came with the unit, settling back to the original. These are easily replaceable, and if you own any of the older ones, keep them. In my case the Medium Eartips for Voyager Pro were the perfect fit, but your findings may be different.I wear my Bluetooth headsets on the left side, and found it simple to change in seconds by rotating the boom microphone. This boom mike has a dedicated button that you can use for voice commands... just touch it. This same button can also be used to control the mute on/off while you're on a call. Can't even explain how much of an improvement this is over the old PRO-series, where one had to press both of the volume control keys to control the mute. During a call, you can mute the microphone by tapping the mute button. You'll hear a "mute on" confirmation, and an alert repeats every 15 minutes to remind you that it's muted.Use in the Field:Decided to give this Voyager Legend a good trial run in some congested areas where there would be plenty of noise, and where I could test not just the reception but the noise cancellation qualities as well, and what better to test it than a busy New York City street on a moderately windy early fall day. As I found from previous experiences with the original Voyager PRO, the people with whom I was talking had no problem hearing me, nor did I have any difficulty hearing them... except when an ambulance came by with its sirens going. The sound quality and noise suppression is better

Platronics and I go way back, from the first Bluetooth headset I purchased in 2006, the Voyager 510. It was a great introduction to the world of Bluetooth headsets, and I enjoyed using it. As the years went on, I tried other manufacturers, but always came back to Plantronics as the best and most innovative company in the world of Bluetooth. I switched to smaller options like the Discovery series for awhile, but I never found they gave the quality of sound of the Voyager. Like it or not, having a large boom mic on the earpiece does improve quality. Before getting the Voyager Legend, I had been using the Voyager Pro HD, and while it wasn't perfect, it was the best headset I had used to this point. I will dive into my review in detail, but in short, I am truly impressed with the Voyager Legend, and despite some shortcomings, highly recommend it for the sound quality and overall build. They took several steps forward and just a few steps back. For comparison, I will focus on what changed since the Voyager Pro HD. First, the Voyager Legend boom mic is the same length, but is thinner and doesn't have the wider mic on the end. It is a sleek silver boom which looks less obtrusive on the face. Second, the part that goes behind the ear is notably smaller. It is amazingly comfortable on the ear and I could wear it for hours without noticing. The weight has not changed (0.65 ounces), but it feels more comfortable because it doesn't go as far behind the ear or as far below. The earbud style is still silicone, and they provide 3 different sizes along with some black foam to go over the silicone. The black foam always fell off, so I don't use it.Not included is a carrying case. I had an inexpensive leather case for my Voyager Pro HD Plantronics Carry Case for Voyager Pro/Pro+ Bluetooth Headset (Black) which I bought separately that will still fit the Voyager Legend. They are planning to introduce a case that has a built-in battery that will charge the Voyager, similar to the case they provided with the Discovery series. Unfortunately, it looks like that will be a separate accessory to buy.Talking connectivity, they made some major improvements in the buttons. First, a real power switch! No more "hold in button to turn on, hold in button to turn off". I finally get a real switch. They also improved the volume switch. On the Voyager HD, it was on the top and hard to feel while on your ear. Now it's on the back and the switch is easy to find with your fingers. Instead of 2 membrane switches, it is a toggle up/down switch. The call answer/start call multifunction button is not on the outer surface of the mic anymore where it can be touched by accident, but it has been rotated to the rear surface of the mic. And even better - they finally added a true mute switch on the mic itself! On the Voyager HD, you had to hold a multiplexed switch for mute, a major pain on conference calls. What an improvement! The only place they really slid back was in charging. The Voyager 510 used a proprietary connector that only Plantronics made. You had to buy a wall-wart from them. The Voyager Pro HD used micro-usb like everything else in the world except Apple products. The same went for the Discovery. On the Voyager Legend, they switched to a proprietary magnetic cord. The cord is USB, so no need for a separate wall-wart, but you need to carry this special cable. I presume this was done so it would easily snap into the separately sold charging case, but I subtract some points for going non-standard here. There's no excuse for reinventing a connector in 2012 for little consumer gain. Now that I've described the physical device - how does it operate? In a word, far better than any bluetooth I've used previously. From the moment I turned it on and heard a reassuring voice tell me "Talk Time: 7 hours", I knew they had improved it from the Voyager Pro HD (which always said 6 hours). The sound on it was crystal clear, and I called my coworkers in turn, each of whom told me I sounded better on the phone than I ever have before. Range was also improved from the Voyager Pro HD to the point I could walk out of the room where my phone was sitting and I could still talk. The Legend has crystal clear sound, great noise cancellation, and in a word, makes me more effective on the telephone. There are a few neat features like if you wear the earpiece all the time, you can say the word "answer" to answer a call rather than touch the earpiece or "ignore" to ignore it. Nice touch - that worked quite well. It also will automatically answer if you put it on when the phone rings as it can sense it is on your face. There are options out there for bluetooth headsets that are smaller, but few that sit as well balanced or that sound as crystal clear. This is the headset you want for calling your customers and getting business done. I would give it 5 stars, but the switch to a proprietary charging plug was ill-advised as it is 1 more

I've owned Plantronics headsets all the way from the glorious Discovery 640 days; moving on to the 975, Voyager PRO +, PRO UC+, UC V2 & M50.I work as an IT consultant and attend many conference calls through the work day and sometimes require 2 headsets to keep going - Not that I'd like to; but even the best battery life these headsets offer fall short sometimes. For anyone coming from a Platronics Voyager Pro series line of headsets :HARDWARE:Feels much better this time around. Im sure there are a few out there who may have this problem - the tip at the end of the boom mics of previous Voyager Pros use to shaped like a bulb (sort of...) and since the tips are made of metal - its easy to dent them if you accidentally place a heavy object on it. I've managed to do this on two of my headsets cos I threw them in with my laptop charger while getting into flights. The headsets continue to work fine - but the body is damaged. The Legend headset addresses this issue by giving the boom a smooth psuedo-cylindrical designThe call button has moved to the back of the boom mic as well - takes some getting used to; but better cos I dont accidentally end calls when trying to adjust it on my elephant ears. The Volume control has been changed to give a more 'toggle/rocker' like feel as compared to the old headsets where the volume buttons used to be flush with the piece that goes behind the ear. You can be rest assured that you'll be doing volume control a lot more efficiently with the LegendI'm not sure if this applies for everyone; but the reduction in size and weight of the new headset is definitely a blessing for those (like me) who wear glasses.Ear Gels - Same as before; this is one aspect I dont really like about plantronics headsets cos they never seem to fit snug in your ear. While they more than make up for this flaw (in my opinion) with excellent volume levels and clarity; I wished they would come out with a design thats close to the in-ear buds you get on stereo headsets these days - they could just copy the earbuds on their own new Backbeat Go models.Mute button - finally. The bottom of the boom mic comes with a dedicated button you can use for voice commands. This button can also be used to control Mute On/Off while on a call. This is a HUGE improvement as compared to Plantronics old approach where you'd have to press both the volume control keys to mute on/off. I'd never get it right most of the time cos of the issue with the buttons that sit flush with the headset (refer comment on that above) and I'd have to control mute from my handset to achieve this.SMART APPS -The apps that come with the headset arent much to brag about. The battery meter for one; is now available on Android. This used to be an iPhone exclusive feature.Voice based answer/rejection of calls - This is 50/50. I found that I had to yell "ANSWERRRR!!!" at the headset for it to pick up my voice and answer a call for me. This is really strange cos this headset now comes with 3 microphones instead of two and still cant hear me??? To validate this further - I tried speaking to the caller at the same raised pitch I used to "answer" the call and they said I was talking way too loud or seemed agitated. Makes me think this is a software issue then - cos the phone can definitely hear me; it doesnt seem to process the actions well enough.Smart sensor - Works much better that the original Pro UC +. The original went bad so quickly that Plantronics pulled it off shelves before ppl knew it and replaced it with V2. I've had them replace my headset because of the sensor issues on the original. They launched the Voyager PRO HD next - which was actually the stabilized version.BATTERY LIFE - Offers the best battery in the market in my opinion. I've tried to wander off to other brands to check if I were missing on something and I've tried headsets from Motorola and Jabra. My most recent test was the Motorola Elite Sliver cos I wanted a break from the boom mic and thought the simple behind ear-concealed design was an excellent idea. I returned it in a week cos I faced issues with dropped calls, callers asking me to "speak up", faster battery drain, etc.. Granted that it did come with a charging case, but the charging case didnt hold that much charge either and drained itself pretty quickly if not used. So I went back to my UC V2 and waited till this one came out. Ive been using it without re-charging for two days and I'm at 50% - o I believe the 7 HR talktime claim.Charging - the proprietary new charging connector by Plantronics may send a lot of loyal customers in the opposite direction. But I genuinely believe they did this out of consumrs best interest cos of the really tiny usb ports. Like I said, I need upto 2 headsets on some day and plugging it in for charge is one of the many things I do while multitasking and I really do feel relieved when the headset latches itself to the magnetized charger. I do agree with other reviewers that it is a concern as well co

The new Plantronics Voyager Legend is a big winner for comfort, battery life, and background noise cancellation. If you've used a Voyager before, you know how well it performs at cancelling background noise. Let me give you a quick summary of how and why I use my headset.I purchase at least two to three bluetooth headsets per year for work and personal use. My job entails me working in service provider Headends where we have anywhere from 20 to 80 racks of servers, routers, and switches with fans and air conditioners blowing non-stop. I talk on the phone for work on an average from three to six hours at a time supporting maintenances and troubleshooting service outages on conference calls. I must have bluetooth headsets that eliminate background noise so that my listeners could hear me clearly and that have a speaker that is loud enough for me to hear them without asking them to constantly repeat themselves. I'm also driving around a lot since I cover the entire Southern California Region of my company.I currently own and use the Voyager Legend, Voyager Pro+ (two of them), Jawbone Era, and Jabra SP700 (older speakerphone). I have and use all of them because my mood changes for comfort and need for talk time may vary, hence why I have two Voyager Pro+ headsets. There has been times where I need to be on the phone longer than the six hour talk time of the Voyager Pro+, so the second handset is charged and ready for me to switch it out.Now to my comments on the build of the Voyager Legend. I love that it's very simular to the form factor of the Pro+ with minor design changes that in my opinion make the headset more comfortable and easier to use. The changes I noticed right away were that the piece that sits behind your ear is a little shorter in height where the bottom of that piece used to sort of hook under your ear from the Pro+. I also noticed that the same piece is less wide which is more comfortable for me since the Pro+ actually felt a tad heavier. The buttons and controls feel much better with the addition of the voice command button that sits on top of the boom mic (I wear my headset on my left ear, so it will be on the bottom of the boom if you wear it on your right ear), the answer/hang up button at the rear end of the boom (where it is on the side of Pro+), and the volume switch, power switch, and charging contacts are on the rear of the headset. After using it for two full days and at one point six hours of continuous use, the comfort and functionality feel great and the callers on the other end were able to hear me clearly with the sound of the background noise at work at full blast. I would have normally had to change headsets after six hours of use, but with the extra hour of battery life, it makes working longer easier. Now for the things I do not like: Plantronics decided to use a proprietary magnetic charger with this headset. The charging cable is 11 inches edge to edge, but realistically 10 inches after you plug it in. You can't plug it directly into the wall or a surge protector on the floor without it sitting on the floor. You'll have to have some kind of USB charger on your nightstand or USB extension cable to your desk if you want it within reaching distance. Also, when there is an incoming call, it plays a polyphonic chime that you cannot change and sometimes delays the answering of the call. I have the headset paired to two phones. My personal phone is a Samsung Galaxy Nexus i9250 running Android Jelly Bean 4.1.1 and my work phone is an older Verizon Droid Incredible running Android Gingerbread 2.3. Plantronics as an App called MyHeadset and all I could say about it is that is crap. All it offers is a recording memo and it displays the battery life when you pull down the notification menu on the phone. Like I said... meh...The things I do like are: Best noise cancellation as you would expect from the Voyager series, excellent call quality and volume to both parties, dedicated voice command button, the ability to say "answer" or "ignore" when incoming calls come in, and extended battery life. Now, there are two other Apps that I have not had a chance to use yet which are the Plantronics Vocalyst (which you register on their website and use the included code to create an account to manage emails, record reminders, hear newsfeeds and dictate social network updates) and Vocalyst SMS Reader (which is supposed to do what it says, read back SMS messages through the headset). I will update my review once I have had ample time to use them.I overall love the new headset with the minor design changes and superior call quality. I am starting to recommend to all my colleagues which already own multiple Voyager Pro+ and Voyager Pro HD's. Who knows, if I like it even more, I'll buy a second one as a standby unit.

I have been a very happy user of the previous Voyager ProHD headset, but sadly I just lost it. I was buying a new one and found this updated model. I had faith that this would be even better and the specs say yes, longer run time, even better noise cancelling, great!I received the 1st one (foreshadow), packaged in a padded envelope, half crushed. It seemed OK, I paired it with a new iPhone5 and started my day. I tested the streaming audio capability, very rich audio. Physical construction and button placement are great! While I have mixed feelings about the mag-connector, it is very easy to use, but micro-USB is a standard! The optional accessory micro-USB to mag adapter should be included in the box. I did order the new charger case, and must say that it's really nice, looks and feels very high quality.Back to the testing, I placed and received several calls. I really like the hands free answer feature, but it could use a bit of work as it sometimes misses the command, causing a scramble to answer before losing the caller. Audio outgoing is very good according to my co-worker, incoming was mostly good but some occasional "clipping/distortion" literally sounds like a torn speaker cone. This is during calls only, the streaming audio sound is full and rich. Now the bad stuff. I had several random events when talking for several minutes where my voice would just quietly mute. I could hear the party but they could not hear me, a few hung up before I could scramble and change audio source on the phone. Also, I could hear a subtle "clipping" distortion of the incoming audio, somewhat annoying! I went to the Plantronics website and updated the headset to the latest firmware. Problems persisted so I returned the headset for exchange assuming that it was defective.New one arrived in good condition, I updated its firmware and this time I disabled the sensors that detect if you take the headset off and re-direct the audio to the phone to eliminate this as a possible issue. I talked with a customer for about 20 minutes when suddenly all of the audio was gone again.I then paired a Jawbone ERA headset to the iPhone5 and used it the rest of the day without any issues at all so I believe the iPhone5 is OK. I called Plantronics support and they had nothing to add or to try, the rep is researching any reported issues with the iPhone5 and will get back in a day or so.I love this headset and it's 7 hour specs but will sadly be returning it as random muting audio is pretty much a deal breaker if it can't be corrected.Edit 9/29/12, support did not get back to me as of this date regarding my issues. I have now used the headset a lot to stream A2DP podcasts and iHeart radio, which has been flawless for hours at a time. This 2nd headset absolutely FAILS on almost every incoming call within 1-3 minutes. I answer the call, we are talking and then at some random point all audio, in and out mute. I have to open audio source on the phone and select phone or speaker to continue my conversation. Currently this headset is un-useable with this iPhone. The phone works flawlessly with Jawbone ERA and BlueAnt ST3 BT Speakerphone and Plantronics Voyager ProHD.It seems to have a BT Headset Profile conflict with the iPhone5, the A2DP streaming audio profile is OK.Edit 10/16/2012 - After testing now 3 New Legends, I give up. On the Plantronics "Sound Board" forum, there are now many of us with the same issues with iPhone5's only it seems. Plantronics is apparently blaming Apple, though every other BT device we've tested, including the previous Plantronics ProHD work great with the iPhone5. Plantronics support is aware but they have no information on if or when they will have a fix for this issue, too bad!Edit - 11/07/2012 - After returning 3 Legends, I waited 4 weeks until a new firmware (v44) was released to address "some" of these issues (Plantronics hasn't come right out and said that this is "the fix for iPhone5's", but it seems to be as reported by many others as well). I purchased Legend#4 updated the firmware to v44 and it seems to have solved most of the issues that have been reported, specifically the muting issue which was a show stopper for most iPhone5 users. This now is back to being the best BT Headset that I've ever used, the apps, button locations, audio quality, and run time make this my current best headset ever and I've had a bunch! Hats off to Plantronics!

Firstly, let me state that some of these reviews are fake, I assume by employees. They were written on the same day that the product was introduced and before it was in stores. No excuse. Not just on amazon, but also on Plantronics website.Nonetheless:This is my second order for this headset and I've concluded that it just doesn't work. I had to send them both back. I currently own and tested it against the Voyager Pro Plus version and the Voyager Legend isn't even comparable. On a normal phone with Bluetooth capability, the voyager legend doesn't answer at all. I'm not referring to a delay answer, I'm saying that it just doesn't answer. It says "answering phone" and then continues to ring even after the physical phone has stopped ringing. I then have to turn the voyager legend off to stop the ringing (happened on both orders). I've checked this with multiple phones and with two different Voyager Legends. However, I did get a few that went through, but not enough to trust the device. That function works fine on my iphone 4 and 5. However, with the iphone, once I open an app and either play music or have navigation open, the voyager legend simply cease to work outside of answering a phone call. As for voice recognition/siri and audio controls, it stops working. However, the voyager pro works perfectly in the same situation. In addition, my office phone allows Bluetooth headset linking/attachment and the voyager legend, while it does connect, it pops and crackles the audio to the point that its just irritating. Again, the voyager pro works fine.I got caught up in the new design and functions and unfortunately, i dont believe this item was tested properly before being sent to the public.I also tried to download the software "myheadset" program from their website to see if there was an update. However, after downloading, I found that the program, (which is only for Windows) didn't work and gave me an error on install. I also called and asked a technician if that would help and he stated "no" and that I should return it for a new one. I did and got exactly the same problems back. In addition, the tech person a spoke with didn't even know what features were on the headset or how to use them. The two I spoke with didn't know that the power button clicked on and off rather than was a press button as the older versions. They also didn't know that the headset should control (play/pause) music- which the ones I ordered didn't do after opening another audio enabled app. One technician also stated that the audio (incoming call, etc) only works with certain phones, which it did not work with my office enabled Bluetooth phone. He said it depends on the phone carrier (which they have no accessible list for.) I also spoke with a woman and asked when the accessories were going on sale, and she stated that she didn't know and after placing me on hold and asking another department, she came back and answered that they didn't know either.I could go all into details about the goodness of the headset, but plantronics marketing team already hyped it up enough and helped me decide to order it on launch day. Realistically, the functions no longer matter as I couldn't enjoy them. If you want looks, then get this like I did. If you want it to work, then you've come to the wrong spot.In addition, the charger is just way too short for a normal person. Its a magnet charger and about 6-7 inches long.If you care about quality over latest look, then go with the voyager pro plus and not this device. In a nutshell, what you get with this headset beyond an attractive look: random functioning, crackling, tighter on the ear and a headache from trying to make it work because you want to use it so bad.The reality is that this product was rushed on shelves before it was ready. The fact that they have about 6 accessories created and no buy option on their own website (as of today) also states that it was rushed. I assume maybe because of the iPhone 5 launch and realizing that people (like myself) would want a new Bluetooth headset for their new device. If you want my money Plantronics, please test your devices on more people and situations before launching to the public. For now i'll continue to enjoy my voyager pro plus in remembrance of when you actually made a good version of the device.

Ok, I'll get the bad out of the way first. I can't update this thing without Windows? That alone made me want to return this thing just on principle... hey Plantronics, 2002 called, and they want their second-class citizen treatment mentality of Mac users back. But I decided to stick with it, and after a lot of hassle, I eventually was able to update the firmware to version 44 (to fix the much-reported iPhone 5 compatibility problem) using Parallels, but that was only after the first attempt resulted in a bricked headset and a trip back to Best Buy for a replacement.I'll be crossing my fingers and hoping for the best the next time I have to update it or change settings, but hopefully by then the Plantronics updater will be Mac compatible (like Jawbone and Bose). Now, on to better things. Incoming call quality is very good, and outgoing call quality is just plain outstanding. I put it up against the Bose Series 2 and Jawbone Era in a variety of tests. The Jawbone was a bit better in the noise "torture test", but the Bose and Voyager Legend sounded significantly clearer in tests that were more representative of realistic situations. That's an important point that you should consider when evaluating headsets. Don't simply record test clips while driving on the highway with the windows rolled down and the radio cranked up, and use that data to pronounce the winner if this is not the kind of situation in which you expect to frequently be using the headset. Yeah, it might be fun to see just how good the noise reduction features of these products can be, but make sure you give more weight to your expected use.For my purposes (sitting at my desk, walking around indoors, driving, occasional outdoor use), I found the Bose to be better than the Jawbone Era for the most part. Noise reduction on the Bose was almost as good, but sound quality in an easier environment was much better. However, the Bose has a weak feature set (no iPhone battery meter, no caller-ID announcement, no battery life announcement, etc.), which is what led me to try the Voyager Legend. I was pleasantly surprised at how truly amazing the sound quality is, even compared to the already excellent Bose unit. I think much of this comes down to simple physics... the boom design places the mic closer to your mouth, and no matter how good the fancy audio processing of a stubbier headset, it's not going to trump the beneficial effects of having the mic considerably closer to the source. In short, the Bose is very good, but the Voyager Legend is noticeably better, both in noise-free environments and in more difficult situations (however, none of these seem to do very well in wind, not even the Jawbone).Additionally, the Plantronics has the ability to deactivate A2DP (though, again, you need Windows to make this change). A longstanding problem with the iPhone is that if you connect an A2DP-capable headset to it, all UI sounds (keyboard clicks, message alerts, etc.) are routed through the headset, which I hate. You can manually designate audio to go through the iPhone's speaker, but if you subsequently turn the headset off and back on again, the iPhone reverts to the headset, so you have to go back in and manually change the output device again. Deactivating A2DP fixes this issue (though at the expense of being able to stream music to the headset, which I don't need).I've only used the "answer" / "ignore" voice command feature once or twice, and it seemed to work well... combined with caller-ID announcement, this will be a very handy feature when I'm doing work around the house and have dirty hands. The Voyager Legend is VERY comfortable... I know it's a cliche, but you really do forget it's on.In short, aside from the lack of updatability from a Mac, I can't think of anything that could make it any better.

I have owned a few Bluetooth headset from Plantronics over the years: my very first Explorer 330, a Voyager Pro, Voyager Pro Plus, Voyager Pro HD, and not to mention the wired headset I use at work. My experience with Plantronics has generally been satisfactory and pleasant. Having the chance to own the Plantronics Voyager Legend and put it in its paces, this headset practically blew me away!My thoughts:Form Factor: compared to the Voyager Pro, Pro Plus and the Pro HD, the Legend is smaller, about 1/4 smaller than its predecessors. The fit is great, no tightness or constriction whatsoever and can be worn for hours without any inconvenience. The only gripe I have about the fit is it's a little loose around my ears. It may have to do with the contours of my ears where it doesn't sit properly. I have to adjust it in such a way that it sits tightly around the contours of my ears, otherwise any kind of sudden head movement knocks it out of place.Functionality: the Voyager Legend is the most advanced and functional among the present line of the Voyager series Bluetooth headset. Not only does the Voyager Legend have a Smart Sensor Technology, it now features an independent voice-activation, separate from your phone's voice activation feature. Once it is paired with your phone (android in my case), the Legend's voice activation feature is ready to be used, nothing to download or install any kind of software. You can now take a call by just saying "ANSWER", skip a call saying "IGNORE", check power status by saying "CHECK BATTERY", and a variety of other voice commands which is really neat. It also has an optional feature called a Vocalyst Voice Service (free for a year) where you can have your email read for you or post something in your social networking, all done by voice commands.Call Clarity: the call clarity of the Voyager Legend is something you would expect from the reputation of Plantronics. Like the previous versions that came in this series, the Voyager Legend gave clear, crisp calls on the incoming and outgoing calls. Sporting a triple microphone, the Legend isolates background noise from your voice enabling you to maintain a conversation even in a noisy environment.Talk Time/Standby Time: the Legend now boasts a talk time of 7 hours and a standby time of 11 days which is more than what you can get from its predecessors. This can be really be an impact if you are constantly on your phone. It minimizes in between charging times.Proprietary Charging Port: Unlike the previous Voyagers in this series which has a microUSB charging port, the Legend strayed away from the usual norm and came up with its own "individualized" charging port. Others may or may not agree but I actually found this proprietary charging more convenient compared to using a microusb where the constant inserting and pulling of the jack creates a bit of wear on the charging port of the headset. With the Legend's proprietary "magnetic" charging port, all you need to do is place the headset on top of the charging unit and magnet locks the headset in place for charging. When you're done, a simple pull is all it takes to remove the headset from the charging unit. Again with this feature, I do have a gripe: the cable is VERY short to the tune of approximately 6 inches. If you charge the headset, there's absolutely no way you can put it on your desk top if the AC socket is located by the floor. It will remain in very close proximity where the socket is. This is an area where Plantronics needs to improve, make the cable longer, in the vicinity of at least 3 feet in length.Other than couple of gripes, I am actually enjoying using the Voyager Legend even though I thought there was a little bit of a hit and miss with regards to the cable length and the fit. The cable length is easy to fix but the fit is something of an individual thing. Nevertheless, despite my minor complaints, I couldn't help but give the Voyager Legend a 5-star. Highly recommended!

In general, I am really wowed by this latest iteration of the Plantronics Voyager line. I have used the Voyager all the way since the SL510 line and slowly but surely, they have made progress with each new model. The features of Voyager Legend blow away all previous models. The Pro + added great features, and the HD had the sensor to transfer/ turn on/off music depending if the headset was in your ear or not.The Legend puts all the desired features in one package, and with design improvements to make the unit even more comfortable to use and wear. Here is my one week assessment of using this fantastic piece of technology:Pro's -The call quality is excellent, even driving with the window down on the Expressway. The person I was talking to thought I was in a quiet room on a landline! The ear sensor is flawless. My cellphone rings, I put the Legend in my ear and voila, it answers with no prompting. Take it off your ear and the call seamlessly transfers back to my Android V2.3 cellphone and vice versa. The Mute button works great once you get used to the placement of the button.if the unit has been already paired with your smartphone but then was out of range, a quick response to the audio prompt by saying "Connect" immediately re-establishes the link with the headset. Simple! With the windows up in the car or in the office, responding with "Answer" or "Decline" works every time. In very noisy environments, not so well, but I don't negatively score the headset on this, as I realize this is asking too much of a headset.Playing music through the headset works great. Take it out your ear, and the music pauses. Put it back in, and the music resumes. What can I say - 7 hour talk time is amazing, especially since the unit powers down when not in your ear.The volume control is so much easier to use - love itThe smaller dimensions are truly more comfortable on my ear (and I wear glasses) than previous unitsCons - and this is really nitpickingThe magnetic charger coupling is a love/hate thing. When I come home from work, I love the ability to quickly dock to the charger without fumbling which way the Micro-USB connection goes in. However, until I purchase the $10 adapter someone mentioned will be available in November, I worry that while in the car I won't be able to charge the unit. However, the long talk time has thus far never put me in that position (yet)!I find the softer/more pliable translucent eartips used in the Pro + and Pro HD more comfortable than the harder/ clear silicone eartips included with the Legend. Was this change needed as part of improving performance or a cost reduction? I don't know. but suggest you try both eartips designs to come to your opinion on this.Twice now on Day 6 and & I found music playing through the headset suddenly stop for no reason. A switch to a different playlist (using Spotify) solves the problem, but I am wondering what bug is causing these freezes, or is my Android smartphone the source of the problem. Even with the music freezes, cellphone calls still come in correctly to the headset. The change in the eartip material and these music freezes are the only reason I am scoring the Plantronics Voyager Legend a 4 rather than a 5. However, I am so satisfied with the ear sensor working great and additional features that I still give this unit a strong recommendation.

I've been using Plantronics headsets for years and the build quality of the hardware on Voyager Legend is fantastic. Some may question the change in charging connection, but it's much more robust than the old usb style connection. That old usb connection killed 2 of my older voyagers as the connector pulled away form the board. The supplied cord is too short, but its useable. The magnetic connection seems much better than the old USB.The new button layout took a few days to get used to, but it's has far better tactile feel than the old layout and the power switch is a big plus. Sound quality is excellent and the new boom design seems to be an improvement as it stands a bit farther away from the face and does a better job with noise canceling. The problem with this new unit is the software, it sucks.Mine consistently drains the battery on all of my android phones regardless of android software version. The issue here is the address book software which will cause the android phone to hold the connection open and rapidly drain the phone's battery. The headset pairs with 2 profiles, one for media/music and another for PAB, if you disable the PAB profile on the phone it will correct the battery drain issue on the android device. The headset has issues with battery life. When mine gets to 4 hours, I can count on it powering down shortly thereafter. So it really only gets 4 hours of talk time per charge, even though it says 8 hours.Another issue is that the headset will lockup a couple of times per week, and the ONLY WAY to reset the device is to connect to a PC (not mac) and run the internet connected plantronics updater software. Once the software makes a connection and downloads the profile information, the device will work correctly until it locks up again. At first, I thought this was an issue with the battery loosing charge, but it has happened with the device fresh off of an overnight charge, so I do not think it's battery related. After the download, the device operates normally until the next lockup so it's software related. No amount of manual reset using the buttons, or smart sensor resets will fix it, it has to be connected to a PC and the internet.I've disabled the smart sensors, voice prompts, etc in an attempt to reduce or eliminate the lockups, nothing has made a difference. They appear to be completely random. So why haven't I returned it?I've got 2 spare units (I'm on the phone all day) so I just rotate in a backup headset and keep going. When it's working, the sound quality is very good and the device controls are excellent. It's very comfortable, I wear it all day and don't even notice it's still on my ear.Excellent noise cancellation, works well in numerous environments.

Over the years I've owned many headsets including both the Plantronics Voyager Pro HD and my personal favorite, the Voyager 520. Overall size, weight and discomfort were the key reasons I dumped the Pro HD and stayed with the 520. Like any other guy that's looking for an edge in com gear, I jumped at the opportunity to take the Plantronics Voyager Legend for a test drive. After 5 days of continuous use, these are my thoughts. The first thing that hit me immediately was that unlike previous Voyager models, the Legend had a great feel and was light weight. The trademark swivel boom is still there too. I really like the fact that I can pair it with more than one piece of Android gear without the usual punching in of a link up code. Unfortunately, on my work's non Android duty phone the link up code still had to be punched in. I was pleasantly surprised with the ease and flawless delivery of voice command. No downloads or software were required. Its pretty cut and dry. Just say answer to accept a call, or say ignore to reject it. It'll even check your battery level by tapping on the voice button. The mute button is a sweet feature.I gave this model the real test when I was in a crowded grocery store the first night. The clarity of incoming and outgoing calls was simply outstanding. Unlike my older model that had the tendency to pick up almost every surrounding noise, the on board filtering system on this unit is first rate. Callers also noted the improved clarity. Even when I was at the beach overall clarity was sweet. Android users will find the app for Find My Headset a plus. This app will also let me view my headset's battery meter.Battery wise, I got a little over six hours of juice during the work day before I had to hit the charger. On my down time, I went two days without charging this unit. My only ping on the Voyager Legend is the manufacturer's switch to proprietary charging station and its too short cable and magnetic plug. Even though the headset can be juiced up by placing the unit on the dedicated charger, I liked the older micro USB charging station and its longer power cable better. The Plantronics Voyager Legend comes with a USB charging cable, wall charger, three ear tips, foam covers and a start guide. Its also backed with Plantronics one year warranty. Unlike others, this company scores big with a customer friendly website and working toll free technical support phone numbers.I have to say that the Plantronics team really out did themselves on this one. The overall quality, comfort and features have exceeded my expectations. For me, the Plantronics Voyager Legend is an outstanding piece of com gear that delivers.

Have used Plantronic devices in the office. They were always heads above the competition. This bluetooth headset is no different. Truly outstanding. It's so comfortable that I forget I have it on, and when I think about it, I have to check with my hand to be sure. Loves: that it senses if it is on my ear and directs the call there, or switches between my phone and the ear if I put on or take off the headset. This is just an amazing feature. Also, that it connects to my phone touch free. For example when I hop in my car with my phone in my pocket, it connects with no action required by me. It announces callers by name, very handy. There were a couple reviews that were negative on the proprietary charging cable. I was too. I normally have a rule of not buying anything unless it uses the micro USB. I bought this and kept the packaging in case it became an issue. But here's the reason for the magnetic attachment. You can grab it from the charger with one hand, and place it back on the charger cable with one hand. No plugging or unplugging necessary. Why is this important? Because it maintains the ease of switching between the phone and the headset. I, for example, have put a little velcro on the charger and when I hop in the car I "set" my headphone in the charger cable. Quick and easy. If I get a call, I just pick it up. Believe me it's worth having a different charger cable. I bought a travel cable for $6.95 on Amazon. Piece of cake, very much prefer this magnetic cable over a mini-usb for this headset. I have two tickets for not using a headset (I'm in California). The reason is because I don't expect to get a call, and when I do I cannot turn the headset on, unplug it, let it connect in time to answer. With this headset, I leave it on always, but in the charger. I hop in the car, and when the unexpected call comes (and it always does), I simply grab the headset and put on my ear with one phone, and it answers automatically. By the way this is the first review I've ever written anywhere, so you know I love this headset.

I had a Bluetooth headset several years ago (a pretty expensive one at the time, but not Plantronics). When it was being charged, it was not paired (even if it's on). By the time I took it off the charger, waited for paring to finish (while putting in on my ear) and clicked to answer, the caller would have hung up. This one, even if it's turned off, I could turn it on, take if off the charger, by the time I put it on my ear, it's paired and has recognized my intention and answered the call. I just have to say "Hello" -- no more than two rings. My old headset had horrible user interface. This one is totally intuitive and more functional at the same time. Transferring calls between headset and handset simply by taking it off or putting it on my ear was seamless. I even used the dual connection feature once. I was trying to use Skype on my iPad at a busy place. When Skype dropped out, I would switch to an actual phone call. Since the headset was paired with both the iPad and the phone, I was using the headset all the time without any trouble.I was most impressed with the noise cancellation power. I purposely tested this functionality by making a recording of my self in the car as I accelerated with the windows down, then closing it, then opening it suddenly while I was on the highway. Then I showed the recording to my colleagues and "wow" was the universal reaction.I was concerned with the short charging line. But I had planned a location for the charger close to the resting place of the headset. I can't tell you how much I appreciated the ability to put it on charge and to take it off the charger all with one hand. I just charge it while driving. The pairing range was extremely impressive too, although I don't see much of a point there. I would hope the thing fits in my ear a little better -- it doesn't fit like a glove. I would also hope that there is some more resistence to moving away from either the left ear or right ear configuration. You can rotate a couple things and go from a left ear usage config to a right-ear config. One time, I took it out of my pocket and found it in between the two configurations and paniced for a while before finally figuring out how to put it on.Other than that, I'm glad somebody progressed technology in the right way, bringing me useful features executed to perfection!

I had recently purchased the Jawbone Icon HD which at first was great but then noticed it keps slidding down my jaw line to point downwards. That was a problem as it only works best when touching jaw line and facing mouth and I had to keep using cheap ear hook that always fell off and over all felt cheap to me.So I got this awesome headdset that fits so naturally over ear and in ear for great support. It is also very light weight and comfortable that you won't feel it. Not to mention that it doesn't move once it's on unless you move it. I love how professional it looks with sleek boom arm.I also liked that I could control volume from rocker behind ear and mute calls or pause music as well as answer and hang up calls from the function buttons it has on device. But you won't even have to press anything if you want to answer or hang up just say so and it does it. I like how it colapses/ folds to make it self flat and fits nicely into my jacket pocket or shirt chest pocket with out being bulky.Sound quality is great and i'm able to control it from device and from phone for extra loudness unlike Jawbone. I was able to hear clearly and was heard clearly as well. The magnetic 6 inch charging cord is awesome unique and great for travel. I don't have to do anything except plug it into my computer/laptop or car when charge needed. I first thought this would be a problem as all my devices use micro USB. But because it is short and easy to travel with all I really need is USB port to plug into. Also because it's magnetic I don't have to worry about accidentally pulling or bending tip or yanking it too hard which would hurt insides of device. The battery life is amazing with 7 hours talk time and days on stand by vs the Icon HD only had 4 and it would die very fast. I have the Galaxy S3 and it works great with it. This is a must have for awesome design, look, feel, stability, and for those to travel a lot as I do.

I had a Platronics Voyager Pro headset which i loved until i lost it. After doing my normal in-depth analysis of which headset to buy next, I chose the Platronics Voyager Legend and paired it with my iPhone 4s. The Legend sounds GREAT, and i really like the extra features it delivers - smart sensor technology, incoming call voice "answer" activation, etc. However, there is one issue in which there is no solution for: if you have the headset 'on' but NOT in your ear, the text message alerts still get forwarded to the headset and not the iPhone, which caused me to miss a bunch of messages. I did some self-troubleshooting and upgraded the firmware, then i disabled the device and re-paired it etc....but to no avail - the text and app audio alerts still go to the headset only. I called Platronics support and they were EXCELLENT - i reached an English-speaking human right away, he (Joey) was very knowledgeable, informative, and we worked together to troubleshoot the issue. After trying several more ideas, we concluded that nothing is defective - it's just the way it currently works. The bottom line is an issue with A2DP. When the iPhone detects an A2DP profile it uses that technology and sends the audio (alert) info to the headset. If i disable A2DP for the headset everything works fine, but then i lose A2DP features such as ability to listen to music. My other option is to turn the headset 'off' until i need to answer a call or make a call, but then i'm not taking advantage of the smart sensor technology. It feels like it's an issue with the iPhone, and not the headset. However, I'll leave that up to Apple and Platronics to figure out. (Note: audio for incoming phone calls works fine - if headset is 'on', but not in your ear the audio is sent to the phone as expected)In the meantime i will likely return this and get a older/less expensive Platronics headset until this issue is fixed and i can take advantage of all the advanced features.I'm still giving this 4 stars because: (1) Platronics earned a long-time customer by giving excellent technical support, (2) if hearing an audio text alert is not important to you, then this is a great headset to have.
