I had a previous generation Plantronics with a Sony T68i phone, and had the same kinds of problems that people are reporting for this model. In all honesty, I think it may be a matter of how well Bluetooth is implemented on the phone. On the Motorola RAZR V3, I have NEVER had any problem. I have clear calls, and people can hear me clearly. I can leave the phone on my desk at home and walk around the house (about 45 feet of distance), with no problems. Voice dialing works (a function triggered by the M2500, but available based on if your phone supports it.) I can hang up calls, and transfer calls from the headset to the phone, and phone to the headset with no problems. However, I will recommend that you keep the headset charged. I have not run into any battery issues on this headset, but on my previous generation Plantronics, I had all sorts of issues related to a dieing battery. (Callers could not hear me, or I would sound staticy and distorted).I generally conserve battery life by not leaving the headset in standby. (Turn off when not using). If I am waiting for a call, I will leave the headset on, but if I take the headset off and put it in my pocket, I'll shut it off. If someone calls, I'll answer my phone, then transfer the call to my headset if I think that I will be talking for more than a few minutes.Update on June/2006: I still have this headset and I am now using it with a Motorola SLVR L7. It still works flawlessly. One thing I will mention, I am on my second M2500 headset because the first one broke in my pocket. (The plastic from the ear piece to the microphone is some what delicate). This was entirely my fault, and not necessarily a defect of the product, I simple suggest caution while having this in a pocket. In any case, I believe this headset is worth a try. I'd probably shy away from using this as a Bluetooth headset on a computer. (I've yet to find a stable bluetooth implementation on a Windows machine), but if you are considering this for your phone, I'd give it at try.-Brian

I Was tired of reading exactly opposite reviews on many websites about the bluetooth headsets which is an astonishing technology. At the same time I did not want to waste my time and money trying different headsets sets and returning them for not liking it.But onpost Thanks giving day plantronics was available at Radioshack for unbelievable price and I said I would try it otherwise I would give it to my child to play. I tested it practically the same day by making and receiving calls.(mobile phone LG PM325).The people I called were not told whether I was using my bluetooth headset.(hmmm!! like in a clinical trial). They all told that they were hearing me loud and clear which I think is the main purpose of the headset and it does its job.I hope my review helps those people who believe in this technology and who want the headset for this main purpose of being able to communicate wireless and who are tired of reading reviews which are not really always specific why they like or dont like the product.from my humble experience and testing it practically I think it has a good sound quality and serves its purpose ,I cannot talk about other mobile phone compatibility but those who have LG PM325 I think they can use my experience and go ahead to buy it.Earpiece fit does not fit snugly in my ear and I dont blame them as It has been problem even before for even walkman earphones, but even with this I can hear the people well .In this virtual world of internet reality is invaluable.

In my mind, problem # 1 with bluetooth headsets is that they are easily misplaced. It's very frustrating when you need to make/receive a call and cannot find your headset, while fumbling to figure out how to terminate the bluetooth connection from the phone. Although this is not the fault of this headset, I do believe an easier on/off switch can help a lot. Motorola flip BT headsets has the best design in this case (HS850). When the mouth piece is closed, the headset is off and phone operates normally; when the mouth piece is opened, it establishes connection and conversation is passed through the headset.Unfortunately this unit has the worst on/off operation I can think of. The piece that controls volume up/down also acts as the power button. When pressed for 2 seconds it powers on or off the unit. Now you have to make sure that during those 2 seconds, you don't accidently move it up/down because then it won't work. Often I find myself trying twice or more to power the unit on or off. Trust me, it's very easy to screw up.Now the positives. The headset offers good sound quality and fit comfort. It may see big but the unit is light and doesn't move around once fitted. But these quality to me is not as important because I can easily find them in wired headsets. BT is supposed to offer convenience so I look for the ease of operation first.

I've done a lot of research before buying this bluetooth headset for my new V3. I was reluctant to consider this one because of the negative comments I saw here. However, BF deals made me buy two headsets, one is this M2500 and one is Logitech Mobile Freedom(both the same price, cheapest I could find at present). I personally prefer Logitech since it's a more trustworthy brand name for me. But I was wrong about this one as soon as I began to use it.I like this headset very much. Just love it. Overall, I am very satisfied with this product. It is light weight, easy to wear and easy to use. Calls are very clear in both sides. No echo, no noise at all. So far no one can tell whether I use headset or not, no one complained. It works flawlessly with my Razr V3. I compared side by side with the Logitech one, both are almost the same quality as I can tell. But this M2500 has one more function: auto dial the last number while the Logitech one can not. The voice activation call also works fine through this headset. I highly recommend this headset, it's the best for this price!Pros:. Very good quality. Easy setup and easy to use. Crystal clear sound. Far distance. It works fine inside all over my house, at least 10 meters away;. Comfortable to wear, light weightedCons:. Battery life is a little short compared to others. On/Off button is a little hard to press

The problem with Bluetooth headsets in general is they are near your ear but 4-5 inches your mouth. Therefore the microphone is reaching a long way to pick up your voice and has little ability to screen your voice from everything else around you. Unless you are in a quiet room, forget the current offerings of Bluetooth headsets. This headset is no exception. There is a little rubber ear piece with sound holes one one side that swivels to accommodate left or right ear. Unfortunately this rubber piece eventually gets loose and falls off. Plantronics apparently knows this as they include two. I lost both.On the other hand, it is comfortable and works well if you need it where it excels, a quiet room. However, I'll wait until an offering is available that works outside the quiet confines of the design lab.

Of all of the reasonably priced headsets tried, this was the one I have found to be most satisfactory. Some callers indicate the voice from my end sounds strange, but that may be just a matter of getting used to, as to me distortion is minimal or negligible when I test the system by leaving a message for myself, and most callers do not even take notice during use. It is the most satisfactory unit in terms of clarity in the earpiece, and the interchangeable rubber tips optimize fit and aural need for any user's ear. With my PPC 6601, the unit has been for the most part trouble free and a breeze to use.The mute function is one of my favorite and this is the first unit to provide consistent mute function access using the m/f toggle button. Doing so never endangers hanging up on a call (very intelligent engineering on that point!) because that's a completely different button and location which by the way is easy to operate confidently, even in a swaying, moving vehicle. The only known glitchs:-When I had to reset my PPC the unit must now pair using the passkey every time I turn it on, even though I have tried deleting the unit and re-pairing from scratch.-If I hip my PPC on my left and have the earpiece in my right ear signal stability is marginal--for clear-sight, mfr's stated usable distances have been accurate.I wish the boom was adjustable as it sticks out somewhat unimpressively from the side of my face (I'd actually prefer a longer boom that reaches down closer to the mouth, that would also I think improve the quality for callers). All in all this is the best unit for the money that I have come across. Several colleagues have asked me for referrals and are equally pleased.

I bought M2500 Plantronics Bluetooth headset couple of months back.... The charge on the headset comes only for one to one and half hours....although I can hear incoming voice clearly...people on the otherside ask me if I am in the middle of some big crowded place.....Sometimes I even get tired of (shouting) loud so that the other person can hear my voice.....I called Plantronics and the response I got was very very rude. When I told the customer service representative about my problems with the head set.....he asked me to use the headset and when I did so....he said...the voice was very clear...Although I tried to explain him that it is very rare to get a clear call...He didnot want to believe that...and for the battery problem....he told me to recharge the head set as many times as I can........It was ridiculous...and frustating dealing with Plantronics...Its a waste of your money....Dont Buy this headset.... for that matter anything from Plantronics (Keeping in mind the quality of customer service)A frustated customer from IL

I got this headset because it was cheap. I'd recommend spending a few extra bucks on something nicer. The main problem is easily turning it on or off. It always feels like a guessing game. To turn the headset on, you have to push down a scrolling multifunction button for several seconds, and wait for little light. This is a really bad on/off switch. The rest of the controls are fine and easy to use, but the on/off switch is the one control that everyone uses the most!Sound quality is great both ways.Large but not uncomfortable.

It finally died on me after about a year of moderate usage. As others have noted the on-off switch is quirky, and you would never know if it won't start, as if finally did. Sound qualtiy was actually quite good both ways, used with my RIM 7100t and with Skype using a Linksys Bluetooth USB adapter. A decent entry-level BT headset, but I am moving to a Jabra BT250v. will give a review of that when that arrives.

I bought this from Amazon and it did not work. The volume will completely drop down after a few seconds on a call. Thought it was a defective unit, got a replacement and that too behaved exactly the same way. Although a friend of mine bought the same model from a local store and I tried that - that worked very fine.I really liked the fit and how the mechanics are behind the ear unlike the usual ones where the product hangs outside the ear - looking dumb. I would have really liked this M2500, if it worked!

I bought this to supplement my Tekkeon if its battery ran down. It works as well with my RAZR as the Tekkeon does, except that this unit picks up more background noise (but less wind noise) and doesn't have quite the range. On the other hand, it doesn't have a bright blinking light like the other brand, and it's certainly more rugged. My favorite feature is that the speaker unit doesn't have to be crammed into one's ear canal. It only took me a week to figure out how to put it on with just one hand.I'd give it five stars except for the range (I often leave my phone plugged into its charger), background noise (I drive a noisy car), and large AC adapter (I travel with it).

For the price this is a nice Headset. You can hear people very cleraly beacuse the speaker is very loud. Also people can hear you very clearly because the microphone is very sensitive. But this Headset is so uncomfortable, that if I wear it for more than a few mins I have to take it off, beacuse it hurts so much. Also if you have small ears, it wont stay on your ear. I am going to be using a Motorola HS820 Headset which is so comfortable and light. I can wear it for hours and dont even know it is there. But the Motorola HS820 Headset speaker and microphone is not as good as the Plantronics M2500 Headset.

I have to admit I was a bit skeptical about this product after reading the reviews, but the positive ones swayed me. I'm glad they did because I really enjoy the headset. The calls are clear and I haven't had a single dropped call. I have a Blackberry 7100T.There are two reasons I don't give it 5 stars. First, speaker piece that fits inside the ear is a bit too large for my ear and is a little uncomfortable. Secondly, the on/off/volume switch has to be pushed in just right to turn it off or on. Not really a big deal, but could be frustrating for the impatient types. If you're looking for a good buy on a Bluetooth headset, I recommend this one.

Had this running for just a few days now. At first I thought it was defective, but it's just that the button judo for Power-on and Pairing are somewhat unintuitive (okay, I didnt read the manual very well - but normally these days, who needs to?)Using it now, and so far so good - unit sounds fine, both in and out. Felt odd at first, but already feeling more comfortable on the ear. Very light weight.

The first one I received started to come apart at the seams after 3 days use. The replacement came in and it has been fine. Sounds good, volume is good. Yet to see on longevity. I can't say that it's so comfortable that your forget you have it on. You definitely know it's there, however I would not say that it was uncomfortable. Worth the 30 bucks.

I bought this after Thanksgiving for a steal at Radio Shack. Never used a headset before, and think that this one is great. It fits fine on my ear, but feels like the earbud isn't in ear as far as it should be. Can hear pretty good. Use mostly when driving, and a few times walking. Never falls off ear. I'm happy with it (being my first wireless ear piece).

The Plantronics M2500 sits at a tilt in your ear and feels a bit heavy. Most people I talk to say the microphone picks up a lot of background noise. Even in a quiet room, I'm told I sound like I'm in a crowded lunchroom. I would not buy this headset again. Though a bit more expensive, I recommend the Plantroincs Discovery 640.

I have some very minor problems with this headset. For example it is difficult to turn off as the volume control is also the on off switch. But the quality of the sound is wonderful. The first thing I did with it was leave me a message in my voicemail. It sounded just as good as a normal phone. The range seems a bit limited. I haven't used a more expensive headset, so I can't compare, but by as little as 5-10 feet I get some distortion.I bought this because it was cheap and I didn't have demanding needs. I'm happy with it.

Overall, this is a great headset. I like that it goes behind the ear instead of hanging over the front of the ear like the Motorola one I looked at. Good sound quality and range. Have actually had some people say they can hear me better when using the headset than when I use my phone normally. Only problem I have is with the power switch. If you don't press it exactly straight in, it doesn't turn off/on. Definately not for someone who lacks patience.

I bought this item to use with my Treo 650. I have to carry my phone with me or I get a lot of static from room to room. Every time I turn the ear piece off or charge it, I have to reconfigure it to work with my phone again. When I wear it the sound quality is very good and people can hear me very well with no interference, which is better than the device I bought from Treo, which no one could hear me on.

So, because of the "It's great!" vs. "IT SUCKS" reviews, I ordered a few of these for people at my office. We have voip phones, and staff in New York, Portland, and... I wanted one myself because they seem neat.Everyone hates them, and we're all using different hardware. It works "Fine" with my Motorola a630, until is disconnects randomly or if I need to use while moving *At all*, then it becomes excessively staticy. I also want to use it with my laptop at times, for the softphone, and... what a huge pain. I still can't figure out how to make this stable.Other people are using it strictly with a PC or a Mac (both, in this case) for voip soft phones... and they either stop working randomly, are staticy, and in one case the mic just sounds HORRIBLE on the other end.suck. Will return them all, I guess, in exchange for something "better". sigh.
