Do a search online for 780 reverse audio and you will see hundreds of people complaining about audio switching in the ear cans. There has been no fix from planatronics, no driver update. I thought I would try to play through, but literally every game you need to stop reconfigure and reset the headset to get the audio in the proper ear. This is a driver/software issue.The product itself is good, sound quality is very good and the surround sound when working in the proper ear works well. 2 stars for a faulty product with zero support,

Thought these came with a mini plug to make full use of my sound cards 7.1 output. Sorely mistaken and gave these USB only to my roommate since that was a BIG negative on my own part for not noticing that in the description.Live and learn to comprehend ALL the description of a product before hitting purchase button...

Pros:Very comfortableMic works very well - my friends on skype can hear me perfectly, and it's nice that it can swing up out of the wayConvenient volume and mute controls on the right ear budCons:I don't know if this is a headphones issue or a computer issue, but I have to have the volume on literally the lowest setting. For some reason, baseline for the headphones is incredibly loud.Neutral:These headphones aren't particularly great for serious music listeners. But for chatting and typical use, it works great.

This is my first 'gaming headset' and I am incredibly happy with it. The 7.1 surround sound quality is amazing and the mic picks up every word I say, even when I mumble, without picking up ambient noise (unless the stereo is blaring). The headset is comfortable and fits really well, even on my sized 7 1/2 - 8 head.I saw a review where someone mentioned the 'poor quality' of this item and that the plastic had broken 'under normal use.' That person either had a head much larger than my own (hard to believe)... or they don't know how to use a pair of headphones. The plastic is very flexible and I think you would have to actually try in order to break this headset. I can't see how they would break under normal use.TL;DR: 5/5 Would buy again.

The only thing I would mention that other's may have not, is that it is not PS3 compatible. Not a big deal really, it will still work for your games, such as Call of Duty and such. You just can't adjust the volume, and you certainly don't get it in the 7.1 on the Playstation. For the PC, however, it's just incredible.

I'm loving these headsets.I had a few issues when I received them1. Mic seemed to far2. Swivel on earcups3. no carry case :(I've had these for about 6 months and I can say that these headsets work great. The built in 7.1 simulated makes games movies, anything sound great. It also does a great job blocking most sounds around you.The mic I originally thought was too far but when put down it picks up everything even when you whisper. I've always used plantronics headsets such as their voyager bluetooth, xbox mono earpiece headset and now these. Plantronics have always had great quality.The build quality is superb and is lighter then you'd expect.I've sadly scratched up my left ear piece because I fell asleep and forgot they were on. Which to is another problem in it self because they are so comfortable you forget they are on.If you play in a hot climate or near a window in the summer you might sweat but in normal cool environments they are comfortable.

I've actually purchased two of these - one for my husband for a gift and then for myself. They are amazingly comfortable - even when worn for hours at a time. Sound fidelity is fantastic too. I've used less expensive Plantronics that sounded hallow and lackluster - the sound with these was great. The cord is just long enough to plug into a usb port on the back of our PCs which is ideal.I also use these to conduct work via Skype - equally good for phone conversation vs. MMO gaming. Microphone picks up my voice easily and I've never had someone complain that I cut out or sound too far away. For $60 you can't go wrong!

these wernt that comfortable but sound and mic quality was great but i have only owned for barely over a month and its already having probloms its statiky after about 5 min of use then i have to unplug and plug it back in and it works for a little while ive neva dropped these headphones i ake rly good care of all my things these were great while they lasted i guess i just gta go find a dif pear that last longer

I was initially impressed with this headset. I was looking for something that was more 'robust' than my old $15 cheapies and I trust the plantronics name.However, after just a few minutes I can feel the clench around my head. Mind you, my noggin isn't some large melon. Usally the 'smaller' setting on the adjustments fit just fine. There is no 'expantion' or 'contraction' mechanism to this one. Also, since there is no ventilation, my ears actually start sweating! Eww!I may be returning them...Audio: 9/10Fit/comfort 2/10

I ordered these to block out cubicle noise while I work and to have a mic for Skype. They do the job pretty well as long as I have something playing.But the same cloth that makes them soft can get a little warm on the ears after a while. My son has the same kind and he complains that they hurt his ears after a bit but his ears are pretty "tall" and don't fit down in the padded area.The only thing I would really change is maybe some configurability in the width of the band.Overall, I think they are great for the price.

I purchased these as my first surround sound gaming headset and have been very pleased with them. I use them with iRacing and the sound is very good and according to others the microphone is clear too. The cloth material on the ear pieces is comfortable for long gaming sessions and is much better than vinyl/pleather. The fit of them is a little tight but they do not get uncomfortable for me. I would recommend these as a good value, surround sound headset.

The Plantronics GameCom 780 sounds great! but that's it! I just can't wear them! they hurt my ears and my head after a short amount of time it seems like they were made for children ears! or I'm an elf.. either way there uncomfortable to wear for any periods of time. The ear cups are square shape which doesn't help at all such an odd shape for ears maybe if they were an oval shape or had more room at the top and the bottom. I ended up having to continually adjust them to do anything. They ended up sitting on my ears and become unbearable. These do have great sounds and the bass is great the software was easy to install too and the set up was easy. But if you can deal with the pain and suffering of wearing them or your a kid or someone with small ears then go for it.

what i like: price/performance, construction, sound quality, noise cancelling mic. my pup got tangled up in the cord, paniced, and damn near ripped the laptop off the desk. no signs of any damage.not so much: the ear cups could be a little bit larger, even accounting for my XL ears. also the tension on the cups is a bit tight. i can only wear them for about an hour before i have to take them off for a break. might just need a little break-in time though.

Deciding between 3 or 4 stars...They sound amazing and are very comfortable. The problem is, they are too tight on my head. Just enough to put an annoying amount of pressure right under my ears (pressure point). If they didn't do that, they would be VERY comfortable. I'm mentioning this because everyone's head shape is different so where they sit on my head will be different from yours. Perhaps wearing them more will fix the issue. One other "issue", the cord is a bit to short. Check the length to make sure it will work for you. I believe its 6'.

I owned several different gaming headsets and Plantronics GameCom 780 is the best value by a far margin. As mentioned by other reviews the default is 5.1 and have to be changed manually to 7.1 (see other reviews for procedure). 6' USB cord is a bit short and may require an extension. Like many gaming headsets the sound leak a lot. The sound quality you get definitely outweigh the cons. Changed my gaming experience for the best.

Being a computer hobbyist, PC-Repair, Gamer. I was reluctant to use amazon for a new headset after my old one broke so soon it was a different model from the GameCom 780. I am very pleased at how functional and easy to use this headset really is. It is often hard for me to find a headset that will fit because Size "Large" rarely fits me but this headset I found to be very comfortable padded, Durable, Well functioning and convenient.I would definitely recommend this product to friends and family.

I owned this headset for 3 plus years and buying one as replacement, I hosted a radio show on the net , It was mentioned several times Why I sounded so good by viewers and even other hosts. It was the headset coupled with a decent sound card. The ear pieces do not fall off unless you sweat like a pig at the keyboard. They just dont do well with Vacuum cleaners, Got the cord caught in my navigator vacuum. The microphone is excellent and sound is clear. Plantronics hit a home run on this one. To bad they don't make them anymore.

I love these headphones so far, playing BF3 and Dayz with them and they sound great, easily tell what direction action was taking place. I also own a pair of Turtle Beach x32 surround sound and I actually like the Plantronics better. They are lighter and the padding is super comfortable. My only issue with these is that the software would not load on my Windows 8 PC. Not sure if its compatiable or if my CD drive just had a hiccup. Either way you wouldn't regret buying these!

Gotta say that I really love these head phones. The sound is very crisp and clear. It sits very comfortable on your head and fits nicely over your ears. The only complaint that I would give is that the cord is a little on the short side. Other then that, great headset...and the price sweetens the pot.

I was looking for a good quality headset to use while playing games online, and this one appeared a good choice (based on a combination of reviews & price). Unfortunately, they are extremely loud. Even at the lowest volume level, I would expect my ears to start feeling pain after a few minutes of use. After contacting Plantronics support, they indicated that the headset I received must be defective, and that I should exchange it with Amazon. I did so. But the replacement pair I received has the same unfortunate quality.My expectation at this point is that this headset is unfortunately for consumption by those who prefer much higher than needed volume levels. I plan on opening the replacement headset and adding in-line resistance to see if some relief for my ears can be salvaged.On a positive note, the cushioning seems adequate and the microphone appears to work fine, well even. I was not able to test it at length, however. My ears wouldn't have it.

The set works great once you have it properly set up. The first few times I used it after I installed the software, the installation didn't seem to take. So I was unable to use the voice control up and down on the head phone.The cons:-All the controls are located on the left earphone. I find it awkward having to adjust it while playing a game. I prefer my old headset where the controls were on the wire that would sit somewhere around my chest in front of me.-It might just be my head, but using this for a few hours at a time hurts my ears. The way it sits on my head, the cushion part lies on some part of my ear and causes soreness.

I'm not an expert in headphones or anything, but the sound was nice and it produced good quality through the mic.Unfortunately, they aren't that comfortable as the padding around the ear pieces looks thick but there is hard plastic underneath that hurts your ears after maybe around an hour of wearing them.In addition to this, they broke in under 2 years. I opened them somewhat wide (much less than I would've expected would cause any stress on them) and the plastic just under the head cushioning snapped in half.Might try some crazy glue, but either way, not the best product around.

It's an alright product, provided you aren't going to use it on a Windows 8 machine: Plantronics still hasn't issued a Windows 8 driver for their product even after so many months the new OS has been out.Trying to install their Windows 7 driver in compatibility mode -- which is usually described as a "fix" on the Internet -- works only partially: the microphone still doesn't work, and the audio sometimes crashes.How long should it take a company to start supporting a new mainstream OS?

I too had a Razer Carcharias headset before this one.And the Plantronics Gamecon 780 is surely a huge huge improvement.I just watched "Life of Pi" and all the raining and into water parts sounds truly realistic...I am not a surround sound specialist. But I can say the sound is great.The first time I used it, it was painful to wear. But finally, it is comfortable.
