I've had maybe half a dozen headsets over the past 20 years or so, the last one being an older Plantronics model from 12 years back. Without doubt this headset beats them all by a long way. The sound quality for music is truly astonishing - I sat bolt upright in amazement when I first plugged it in to give it a whirl. For gaming, it's just as good too, crystal clear and a very "full" sound. Skyrim's cave suddenly feel scary now! Excellent purchase.

I have a feeling this would be a very nice headset and don't understand why Plantronics is so far behind that there isn't a driver available for Windows 8 since any new computer will have this. The headset portion works BUT when you turn it on, the volume is at bust your eardrums level and takes a lot to turn it down. Even at the lowest setting, it is very loud. The microphone will not work at all.

I have been doing headset research for the last month trying to find a decent headset with some bang for the buck. I was almost dead set on getting the Logitech G35 because I refuse to get the unreliable connectivity of wireless headsets. After being swayed by the almost endless reports of the G35 pivot joint breaking, I ended up finding these and see nothing but amazing reviews about them without any flaws. So I decided to take the plunge and I am glad I did. The sounds are clear and the mic is superb, crisp and clear. I play Battlefield 3 constantly and the in game sounds were mind blowing. I just finished a 4 hour session and didn't even have to move them once. Ears don't get hot and sweaty nor is there any pinching, cutting, discomfort in the slightest. Also, there is no ambient sounds that come from touching the cord. The shipping was also extremely fast. I ordered these yesterday at about 6:00 PM EST and got them today at 1:00PM EST while doing the Standard 3 Day. For 80$ this headset cannot be beaten in any category.My only gripe is you might need to invest into a lint roller as I see the cushioning collecting a lot of dust and such. But nothing to complain about really.**If you do not follow the installation instructions, you may get some static gross sound. Do not fear, you can uninstall everything and redo it correctly and it will be fine. So before you go off into a 12 year old ignorant tantrum, follow the directions and you'll never have to fiddle with it again :)!BUY THESE YOU WONT REGRET IT. I would have ranked it much higher if I could.

These sound great, especially for the price. Only issue I have is they are a little uncomfortable. I have a big dome and when I put these on, the outer square padding is a little tough. Who knows though, maybe after some time they will break in. Certainly would recommend, which says a lot considering I've owned probably 10-15 different gaming headsets over the years.

I'm in a long distance relationship and my boyfriend's old headset was going out so we went shopping online for a new one. When he got this he said the sound was crystal clear and It was a very comfortable feel. I was worried it would be heavy or cause headaches but he loves it. As for my end of the skype calls, sometimes it sounds like his mic is giving out, but I'm not sure if that's skype... or something else... but when I tell him about it he just fiddles with something and It seems to clear up. so.. 4/5 :]

I choose these for the price and I must say that for what they cost me, they are amazing.I'm not a sound expert by any means and I had never owned 5.1 + headsets, but they simply are outstanding. The sound is the best I have heard in a pair of headsets. The materials seem durable and strong and the function to open them up seems also very useful. I highly recommend them.

This is by far the most comfortable headset I have ever owned. Its very lightweight and it didn't require stretching of the band to give it that 'broken in' feel like other headsets that are so tight in the beginning that it gives people headaches. This headset already came perfect.The sound is fantastic as well and I absolutely love that the microphone doesn't sit right in front of my mouth like most other headsets.If there is one con, its that there is a wire that is exposed above each ear cup because the ear cups are where the length adjustment of the band is, rather than adjusting from the center of the headset. It makes me a little paranoid that the wires may cut out.

So, I picked these up on a whim being very highly rated headphones that supported 7.1 surround sound. I'm by no means an audiophile, but I do enjoy music that takes advantage of 7.1. The audio quality is unmatched as of yet. It's actually stunning how good they sound.They fit a little tight on my head, which is to be expected. The setup for them is a bit peculiar, but once you get it done, you are rewarded with incredibly crisp audio.Buyer beware: If you're on a Mac, you won't get to take advantage of 7.1 audio output because the drivers don't exist.Other than that, incredible headphones. 5/5.

Works as expected in Windows 7. I was a bit disappointed with Linux support, at first it only let me adjust the volume in increments of about 10%, but then I realized I had selected the analog output instead of digital in the Ubuntu 12.10 sound center. Worked fine after I switched to digital, but I still need to find out how to enable virtual surround sound in Ubuntu.

This is the 3rd headset I bought last year. I am not easy on headsets so I expected this one to break in 4 months like the other 2 but it hasnt and has lasted twice that long so far.Sound quality is what I expect from a headset. I am not that particular since I only use it for ventrillo and wow.

A great headset purchased from shoppersoutlet, purchased used and it arrived as if it was brand new.Pros: Great sound, great virtual surround sound, clear and crystal microphone. Comfortable fit once using it for a while (A little bit of pressure on ears first use.Cons: Ears will heat up due tot he padding of the earpads but when you live in a cold part of a state like me this is a plus.I highly recommend for those who wish to try and decent gaming headset for a low price.

I have a gamecom pro 1 that i have been using for years. recently I expanded my lan style gaming area. I needed another headset. I searched up my old head set because it still works after 6 years. this is the next version, claiming to be surround sound. well i have to agree in part, it has a very good directional sound driver. but on the other hand my 1000 watt suround sound unit has way more punch. on the other hand i don't have anyone complaining about the sound levels. overall worth the price here on amazon.

I've had this headphone for a little over two years now, and I thought that since there are few reviewers who have used this for as long as I had, I should leave my own. I should also warn that the grade I set is based on the quality alone, and I think that given the price this headphone usually sells for it is a good value, but you should decide that.Pros:-Decent sound quality-Comfortable enough for long hours at the computer-Volume and mic control in the cordCons:-The ears can get a little too warm after a while-Plastic arch not strong enough-Volume control failed after some timeI'm a gamer and no sound expert, and although I can notice if the quality of a headphone is bad enough to hurt my ears, I usually don't care for this as long as it's decent enough that doesn't make me check the label to see where it was produced. Since I assume that audiophiles won't be looking for headphones at this price range anyway, my opinion about the sound quality will probably be the same as yours.I used to play EVE online, which meant sitting for many hours at the computer chatting with friends. This headphone was almost ideal for that while also providing a nice immersion when the time was right. I say "almost", because it would tend to feel a little uncomfortable after a while with the warmth on my ears.But in my opinion, the big CON for this headphone is its durability. It does look sturdy and there are certainly crappier headphones out there, but I bought this one thinking that it'd be a mid-range headphone that would last through the years. I was wrong. The plastic arch isn't strong enough if you don't put them on and off carefully, and after a year it started breaking to the point that I now have a piece of duct taping holding it together. The inline volume control is very nice to have, but after a while it started failing so now I have to tweak the volume carefully so that the left side would work again; a real pain.To wrap up, if you're careful with your stuff, are not looking to spend too much, and want some decent but not amazing sound quality you might as well get this one. But if you really want quality go look elsewhere.

I got these headphones in just two days. The packaging was pleasant and easy to open. I followed the instructions that came with the headphones to install the cd that came with it. As soon as I booted up my computer the sounds were very crisp. The headset is also very comfortable. This is a great pair of headphones for the price! 5/5 stars

I have always steered clear of USB Headsets, figuring that my internal sound on the motherboard was a better sound source. I guess I was wrong! These headsets are crystal clear. The sound is so good, I can hear little details I never noticed before. I also have had comments that the microphone quality is exceptional. I use VOIP calling often, and I've had people ask me why I sounded clearer since using these headset.Build quality is very good. The headset is well constructed (metal parts) and well padded. It is comfortable to wear. One thing to note is they are limited in adjustment options. The speakers only rotate one way (back), so you can either have the speakers straight, or rotated facing back. I found that I would like to rotate speakers slightly forward, but they won't go. The only other downside (depending on your environment) is that I noticed it made my ears warm from lack of ventilation.For sound quality, comfort, price/value, this headset is exceptional.

They have yet to release drivers for the headphones that are compatible with Windows 8, and they don't seem to have any plans to. If you try and use these with a Windows 8 system, odds are your computer will crash (BSOD) every time you unplug the headphones.

I have to turn the headphones in a bit so the pressure is on my head instead of my ears but other than that.... This set works FLAWLESSLY on my linux box at work, on my XP box as well. It works great on any system and it performs perfectly! It drowns out my coworker EVERY time!

These are great. The sound quality is awesome, the price is reasonable, the microphone works awesome and I never have to repeat myself, but the one small complaint I do have is that the placement of the button which controls the "surround sound" is a little wonky. If you walk away from the computer and set the headphones face down, you will almost always come back to the button having been pressed, toggling the surround sound. It's a very minor concern, and not something I'm willing to remove a star for, but it makes me laugh that no one caught it during the design.

I use this headset almost every day. The sound quality is good and the microphone picks up well. It works fine with win7 64 bit. Skype and my other Voip programs have don't have any issues with it. The only draw back and why it lack one star is after wearing for an hour or 2 straight it starts hurting the ears and have to reposition half off the ears for awhile. Other then that issue I would buy again if needed another pair.

I bought these after my cat(s) chewed the wire in half on the last two pair I was given. The USB plugin is nice, you don't have to fool with the usual plugging in of the mic and then plugging in the sound. I know that isn't extremely difficult, but it just annoyed me.The sound is good quality, I do not detect any hiss, just clear sound. The bass is surprisingly good. I usually use a nice subwoofer and desktop speaker combo, and honestly was not accustomed to headphones. The bass sort of caught me off guard. The mic pics up nicely, and the sound recorded clearly.I wouldn't hesitate to recommend these.

It seems that plantronics doesnt want to improve their products, I found this headset to simple and very unconfortable on the head, it produce me a headache because press to hard on the head, and there is no drivers compatibility with windows 8, so....

This headset was broken with in two months and the microphone went first. I was talking to my friend on skype when suddenly "Hello, hello? Hello!??!?!" he was saying. I had to use my mic in my laptop for a while before I can get a new one. The noise was crackling and went awry with in 5 weeks. Very low quality, but if you're gonna use it for about 1 month, I'd recommend it.

I haven't heard anything before this! I am just amazed at the difference between this product and anything else I had before! It plays the bass so awesomely! I am completely amazed... and yes I know I said that twice, but I honestly don't know what else to say! If your thinking about getting these, I would definitely say GO FOR IT! You'll love them too!

This seemed like a good purchase early on. I bought it to play co-op Borderlands 2. It worked great initially. But then the mic stopped working. I tried everything, drivers, reinstalling, tech support, etc. No dice. The mic was just dead. Plantronics support denied my claim. So, do not buy this item if you need a mic.
