I bought this product a few weeks ago a felt I ought to share my experience as the information regarding these pioneer network players is lacking.
The appeal of this device is the connectivity, I now have it playing music directly from iphone/memory stick via usb, from iphone/macbook/imac via airplay, from a HP N40 Microserver and lastly from internet radio. This is really why I purchased it, to be able to have that amount of source material for just one device.
I can't really comment on the sound quality, it does seem much better than using a 3.5mm jack or iphone dock. I think this is down to it having it's own digital analogue converter (DAC) which really seems to work well with my amp. I currently have a very standard denon amp, but plan on purchasing the Pioneer A-30 sometime soon. My speakers are Wharfedale 9.0s.
The only downside is that I have found setting it up extremely difficult. The user interface is very hard to navigate and if you encounter problems like I did, it took me a long time to solve them. The Pioneer Wi-Fi adaptor was totally useless, I advise not to buy this (I returned mine), but am now successfully using some TPLink Powerline Adaptors to connect it to the network and this seems to be working fine.
So overall I'd say this is definitely worth the money. I hope I can many years use out of it. I now have the huge task of properly cataloguing my entire music collection so it is easy to brown on the N30.

Bought this several years ago and I still use it. Not for my IPhone 5 but it still works for an iPod. Still think it was too expensive for what it does. Pretty much obsolete now.

I received this today to connect my wife's IPhone 4S to my App Radio 3...first the phone wont connect with the cable, the Raido app shows the icon to connect the cable, I plugged it and and out several times, no joy. Second..the plug that goes into the phone fell apart in my hands when I tried to remove it from the phone..just lovely eh. Finally the plug that goes in the rear of the unit is so loose it falls out as I put the radio back in place.. Cheap manufacturing very low quality...simply put It's just a piece of crap..requesting an RMA for sure. I suppose I should have been suspicious ..they cant even use proper grammar when writing their sales pitch "work with ipod touch 4th , iphone 4 iphone 4S" don't you mean "Works"...oh no, maybe they are right..you have to WORK with this to raise your frustration level.

If you are having problem watching video from iPod, I agree that this chord is NEEDED. I used to use a standard iPod chord but would only work with video. After I bought this, I plugged it into the usb chord that came with stereo and it worked! MUST plug both usb and aux 3.5mm plug in to make video work. I tried it without 3.5mm plugged in and no video, so must plug BOTH in. Of course, if you wish to watch video while moving, must have a toggle switch. I tried a bypass but only worked for a day then stopped. Installer said must have toggle switch, at least for my particular model. This was all done with my Pioneer AVH-X2500BT.

Doesn't work correctly with anything past iPhone 4S. Huge, bulky, had to take out the stereo to plug it in, awkwardly run the cord in the car, and it is always sticking out in the way. Only use as an expensive charger anymore--just use the Bluetooth on the AVH.

I used this adaptor for my Pioneer radio for my android phone. It was recommended by pioneer to use this cord for the app radio which I still haven't been able to use. But it does charge my phone. SO not a total lost

I was cheated with the wired car kit cable (Pioneer PTPIOCDIU201S) because I placed the order for (2) kits and I received only (1st) that it's correct; and the other (2nd), It's different and it's complete nonuseful for the Appsradio Software and the type of comunication through the interface from my Iphone 4 with the Pioneer receiver.
The correct one (1st) that I received, works fine with some bugs when you use it for played your music library, I hope with future revs., of software from Pioneer will resolve the problem.
I'll wait to receive the correct interface cable (Pioneer PTPIOCDIU201S) that I still needed it for my another equipment, I wonder that maybe a possible reason: it was misplaced or lost or switched in the shipping (warehouse)deparment or the shipping guy was careless in order to check exactly the type of cable that I already order as I told you previously.
Sintetizing, I received two different cables one works fine, the other has fewer conections and doesn't work.
I'll apreciate the attention to my regards.

Having read the other positive reviews, I decided to try it as my old original Audiolab 8000A amp has no remote volume control which was causing a few domestic disputes as I sometimes like it loud (even though I have perfect hearing LOL).
Having run it in, I am very happy with it, it is very well built and looks very good but perhaps a bit chunky for those minimalists. It has a very good sound at a bargain price, it has every feature you could want including the option for second pair of speakers or to bi-wire for those non skeptics.
It has plenty of power without distortion and it has an open and very detailed sound. Its treble is very detailed but not brash or bright but perhaps it may be too much for some people or systems. I prefer to switch off the tone control as it does alter the sound even in the neutral position.
I believe it has plenty of power driving my B&W 601s2 and I really cannot fault it.
Note: The A-10 has no remote, the A-20 has a remote but is less powerful than the A-30. The A-30 is only a little extra and is worth it, it also has dimmable blue led lights which is a nice touch compared to the A-20 which has red.

This player is huge in size. Beware. Other than that it is a really nice cd/sacd player, with quiet operation and good sound quality. It plays all my old scratchy cd's, which cannot be played on some other players. It has nice auto-off function and looks good, but huge.

It is put together a little cheaply. It fell apart while connecting the phone to it. It worked fine however I went to connect it on day and the glue that was applied fell apart and all the pieces just fell in the glove box. No abuse it just fell apart. Contacted Amazon and no response back from the seller. It has been over 30 days and nothing from anyone. If you buy it put a rubber band or something around the connector to keep it from falling apart. It worked fine but is no use to me broken.

The plastic coverings on the side came off where it plugs into the iPhone revealing the bare metal. Makes it very difficult to disconnect.

Bought this as an economical replacement for an old (20+ years) Onkyo amp which was starting to play up.
Clean sound and great build quality. No problem hooking up my bi-wired speakers with banana plugs.
Just one thing that I miss - no lit dot on the volume knob to show where you are in the decibels department, but on the other hand the ability to dim down the fascia LEDs is a bonus.
Love the Blue LEDs which match the rest of my Pioneer AV gear.
Highly recommended.

Zero stars if I could. Connectors fell apart within minutes of handling. And didn't work at all after reassembling. Extremely poor quality. Not sure why there is an inline usb connection instead of just doing one thick cord.

I have this hooked up to a Pioneer XT4500 BT and it has worked without a hitch. It is hooked up to a 4th generation IPod touch that lives in my glove box. It allows me full control over the IPod through the touchscreen interface on my headunit. It also charges the IPod. Easy to install, though I installed mine while I was installing my new headunit.

I have a 160gb ipod classic and a Pioneer AVH-X3500. This allowed me to play videos and music from my ipod. Much cheaper than anywhere else.

This player exceeded my expectations. I had read some reviews so was fairly confident that I would be happy with it, but it has brought by SACD/CD collection to life. I hear detail from the tracks that I haven't heard before. I would be happy to recommend this player to anyone looking for a reasonably priced good performing CD player.

The push tabs broke. They are needed to get the Iphone or Ipod loose from the cable but you end up trying to wiggle your device in such a manner to break it free. It is seriously the most annoying thing in the world. Later, I came to find out that you can just plug in your IPod cable to the unit and it works with ITunes and Pandora. I would pass on this if you aren't wanting to use it for apps or see how long your patience can be tested. Needs a better design on the push tabs.

This cable is very well built! It may not be very pliable but you know that it's good quality. I have been using it for about a month now and have not had any issues at all. The Pioneer AppRadio app works as intended but i don't use it very much. I just use it to watch movies and listen to music with the occasional Pandora or Spotify. I have a Pioneer AVH-X4500BT head unit.
