Love it. I did my homework studying reviews. I'm on a very tight budget and wanted the best I could get for the money. This Pentax does even more than I anticipated. Quality of photos is very good. I'd highly recommend this camera.

This is a fairly compact camera for a fully featured DSLR with a specification much higher than its price point. It has an excellent 16mpx sensor with good high ISO capability. It is weather sealed and has a large bright viewfinder giving 100% coverage. It has two control wheels and good ergonomics. The controls are configurable and really yield little to its big brothers the K-5II and K-5IIs. It is an ideal camera for still photography. Although it has competent video facilities it is not really designed for the keen videographer as it lacks a dedicated video button and HDMI output.

After one month of daily use, I have yet to find any problems. Both lenses do a good job with landscape, close up and flash photography. Working through the camera menus with the camera in hand was the best approach for me.

I am delighted with the K-30camera and 18-135 lens.
It is really nice to handle, solid but not too heavy, only took an evening to suss out for most of the functions. There is a good menu system that's quite quick to navigate. It was well packaged and included everything you need to get started plus a good paper manual and CD manual. I had a Pentax IST DS for about 5 years ... hope this lasts longer! The 18-135WR lens is fabulous, very smooth and good quality.
I like Pentax as they keep faith with their customers by retaining compatibility with old lenses.
10/10 for WR too.

As a former Pentax user, this has kept my work going seamlessly! It has been six years since I upgraded and this was a wonderful leap and easy to transition.

Thus is my first DSLR. For me, the camera is great. Easy to use, and easy to grow into. The dual dials was a selling point for me. Water resistance will very much come in handy. I'm not a pro but this is definitely a camera to consider. I have not tried video on it but I don't really care for it either.

As this was my first camera upgrade since a 1974 Petri 35mm slr, to say I was overwhelmed when I pulled this camera from the packaging would be an understatement. As I gazed upon the myriad of buttons, levers, and thumbwheels I was fairly sure I was in over my head. Pulling out the hefty owners manual I flipped through it to find the point where the language changed from english, not in this book, 386 pages of instructions all in my native tounge. I began reading and read until the battery fully charged then as any kid with a new toy it was playtime. I had read far enough to know the button, lever, and thumbwheel functions, not how to use them correctly, but what their purpose was. More importantly I read that you could set it to "green mode" fully automatic, all I had to worry about was composition and pushing the release. I bought this brand and model based on reviews of how well it performed in low light with no flash and the reviews are spot on, it is amazing. Still learning to shoot in manual, and the priority settings but with the ability to take over 1200 pictures in the highest quality jpegs it is much easier to take several shots of the same subject to compare the results of the different settings than when it was limited to 36 exposures, a single ISO and scribbled notes to match with the negatives. To shorten an already long story, if as I you are stunned by all the adjustments on this camera, set it to green mode and start taking pictures they will be beautiful. After a month of experimenting the green mode still comes out with a better picture than my manual settings about half the time.

I ordered this camera with lens.However, when package came, I opened the box, there was only the body, no lens.Now I have to return it, and worry about that if seller insisted they originally put the lens in the box, I could not prove that they did not put it in.can somebody help me? or any of you have same experience?

Warning: This camera and most other Pentax cameras are primarily focused at still photography, and really don't meet the standard that other brands are coming out with.

NOW the good news: This camera I have found is quite simply the best piece of kit you can invest in at this price range.
This being Pentax camera all previous lenses will fit on this camera, they haven't changed there lens mount for over 20+ years. Albeit some will be manual focusing only. The K-30 has something that makes manual focusing less of a chore... Focus Peaking which assists manual focusing using live view, the camera highlights the parts of the image you have in focus. I'm always using it my manual lens.
If you live in an environment where rain can ruin you opportunity to grab that great shot which is pretty much anywhere in the UK, this camera is a god send. Slap a Weather Resistant lens(WR lens) onto the K-30 you good to go. But please make sure it's dry before removing the lens. :/

The Pentax K-5II is an absolutely terrific camera. It's probably one of the more underestimated dsrl's on the market. The size is perfect. Control buttons and wheels are perfectly located and realy intuitive to use. It has all the functions you need. Picture quality is grate and colours are very good. Functionality hasn't disappointed me yet. You can use all of Pentax K-lenses (even the old M42 lenses with an K-mount adapter ring. Then with manual focus and exposure). I substituted the usual kit-lens for a Sigma 17-70 HSM which is grate lens.
The only draw back with Pentax is the rather limited supply of third party lenses and add-ons.
I can also recomend the Metz 58 AF-2 speedlight as an alternative to the original Pentax. It functions fully with the Pentax P-TTL protocol and has the advantage of firmware update functionality.

It is easy to use and makes fantastic photos! My husband says it was a great purchase, and he likes it, too!

I had real problems deciding on the right camera for me but from how it appears, I have made the best decision ever. This camera is a machine and I am yet to even understand its major functions properly. I rivalled professional cameras just yesterday at the Uni dissertation party and my pictures are getting better reviews on Facebook than theirs. I need a Zoom lens to actually maximize its capabilities. I recommend... buy buy buy.

I have always wondered why Pentax isn't considered as seriously as it deserves. Most of my peers don't even know about the brand! Yes, they have a zero market visibility in India, and that's another thing I wonder about :PMy father being a photographer, I am glad I was exposed to Pentax from an early age. Very glad!K-5 is one classic camera that brought to people's notice yet again that Pentax is not a bridesmaid to other brands, it can produce quality cameras like no other. I have been using this camera for a year now and my love for it only grows stronger by the day!I am one happy man! :D

It's certainly everything I've ever wanted in an aps-c. Low-light AF is superb. It feels great in the hand and also feels rugged and has some weight to it. It feels well balanced even with a teeny 50/1.7 mounted and all the controls are where you want them to be. High ISO is great, however shadow noise is noticable at ISO 12800+, I can pull off clean shots at 10k ISO with all that lovely aa-less image quality left. Speaking of IQ, it is quite a jump for pixel peepers like me. Hairs and specks look more defined. JPGs are surprisingly good for a Pentax, which is good for people who can't afford giant cards . SR is also working its magic better than ever, I'm handholding a 50 at 1/5 no problemo. I will update this review with some shots later, but let me say that I truly think that this is the best aps-c out there and will be for time to come. I've never used something that just felt natural like this

I've only had the K-30 for a few days now, still exploring the multitude of functions and features, but out of the box it's is a really great photographic tool and it performs much the same as the more expensive K-5.

The K-30 has a great set of still shooting features, and is passable for movies, but the overriding benefit is the truly excellent image quality. From ISO 100 - 800 JPEG images are pin-sharp and noise free whilst from ISO 1600 - 3200 there is plenty of detail and noise just adds a subtle graininess. The RAW files are great to work with as you can pull out extra detail out of them in Photoshop, and the camera saves RAW files in the universal Adobe DNG format. You can also convert the last JPEG image taken back to RAW with the press of a button which is something very useful and unique.

In terms of handling, the sculpted K-30 is comfortable to hold and shoot with. It is slightly heavier than the usual `Canikon' especially with my Sigma 17 - 70 mm lens, but it feels well-made and solid, certainly not 'platicky' like the Sony SLTs and of course it's weather-sealed. Have previously owned a Pentax camera and appreciate the quality of the photos. The sharpness of details is very good and the use of the camera is not complicated.

I am very happy with this Camera.It takes Nice pictures,very comfortable grip ,not heavy and most of all I don't have to be worried about whether conditions any more with W.R. Zoom Lens attached (which I had to purchase separately,very well packed from Camera Centre).Thanks to Amazon for very good service.

I had been used to using a canon a720is, which I thought was OK when I bought it, but the jump in quality, both the camera itself and image quality has surprised me. During normal shooting, it never seems, so far to falter in its exposure, focus and ease of use. Takes a bit of familiarisation on the controls though. I will buy Pentax again.

Always been a Pentax user....best "feel' of any DSLR, in my opinion. The K5 11 certainly lives up to early expectation....well laid out, intuitive controls and feels solid. Looking forward to putting it through its paces.
