A disappointment after receipt of a defective unit.
The unit did not turn off (standby).
Each time I placed the unit in
standby(off), the would return to on
within minute. In order to cause
the unit to shut down, I had to
remove the power cord from the
home electric outlet. Each time I
placed the power plug in the home
outlet the unit would return to the
on position.
Also, the unit failed to play a disc
properly. Each time I selected a
disc, the unit would play a disc, it
would stop after one or two
minutes of play and displayed a
pause and play symbol at the
same time. After a minute or so it
would repeat this action(new or old
disc). I returned the unit to the
Amazon Seller and purchased the
same model unit from Onkyo and
the unit is excellent and performs all the functions ad intended.

My Sony changer finally died after about 10 years. I didn't realize how much the changers had improved! Everyone thought the Sony sounded good, but the Onkyo sounds so much better and was less than half the price! Wow!

I just replaced 2 of dv cp706 to onkyo dxc390 a month ago,and I am very Happy with them.Not with onkyo dv 706,they are very good for sound Only.I got many damaged cds/dvds from the trays of them.and their life were too short.they runed only 1 1/2 and the other was 2years then,after they didn't read any cds at all,just stoped.
I did not sure about Dxc390, even I got many positive reviews for that. so I ordered just one first to see if it is good or bad.
In a month, I Ordered 3 more and put these to my 3year old onkyo av receiver tx nr809.
It works excellent, makes very clear,deep beautiful sound w/original cable. maybe better than dv706.I will be rated 5 stars this time.

only had the system for a couple of months met expectations however yesterday I cut a cd and when played for the first time one cuts on the cd skipped only one cut skipped of the 18 on the cd. I thought at first it was a poor quality download but when I played the same cd in my car there was no skipping. I thought the cd might be dirty when first played but it continues to skip in the Onkyo system.

This is exactly what I was looking for, 6cd's (with random play), 128x oversampling, digital access to my digital receiver, simple function. It does take up to 15 seconds between tracks with a full load of cd's, I can see this could bother some folks, and if space is an issue, this unit is quite large, especially depth. None of the con's were a problem for me and I would highly recommend this player to anyone. The Onkyo replaces my Phillips 5 disc changer which I purchased back in the late 80's.

Bought this CD player because of price and features similar to my Sony unit that gave up the ghost. Have enjoyed many hours of use and very pleased with operation and durability.

This was a nice unit while it worked. Stopped working just after the one year warranty. Got it repaired at a local repair shop but then stopped functioning again after a month.

We are very happy with this disc player. We had to replace our old one as once when we put a CD in, it wasn't placed exactly in the proper spot and got stuck. In the process of getting it out, we ruined it. Now we are very careful about laying the CD in the circle, exactly where it should be.

I work in a movie theatre and had a hard time finding a CD player for our intermission music that had continuous repeat. I am so happy with this, I purchased two of them and I am about to buy another. Love it!

arrrived with no remote and had problems playing. not a very good product, and looked used up. I trashed it, should have read the other reviews before buying this one.

Allow me to say, that I am extremely satisfied with the performance and quality of this CD player. I replaced my Onkyo CD player that I had since 1991 with this CD player. I expect that this new Onkyo CD player will last just as long, or longer.

I returned this product back due to its huge size. It was a dinosaur in size and would not fit into my entertainment center. It was much larger than any of the other electronics I own. My Tivo box, CD/VCR player, dish box and Onkyo Receiver fits fine but thing was bigger than any of them. Thanks Amazon for taking it back, you have the best customer service out there in the internet purchase arena out there.

This Onkyo CD Player replaced an earlier model. The previous unit provided great service until old age caused it to malfunction. Paired with an Onkyo receiver, it provides great sound and the convenience of hours of uninterrupted music.

I saw some of the same issues posted on Amason but ignored them because Onkyo has been a good brand for me. After I got the product and I had the same issue I went to the Onkyo web site and saw the same issue posted there - why are they still shipping a faulty product? I even paid extra for two day shipping so I could have Xmas music over the holidays. Now its to close to Xmas to order online and I have to go to the local WalMart and buy a GE or RCA brand just to get through with some music - disappointing.

I'm happy with this Onkyo mulit-disc player. I'm still using my Onkyo receiver; God only knows how many years I've had it, stellar performance, very happy.
However, I have one question about the Onkyo CD player. GIven that the trays are shallow, and I've had discs pop free while the tray is rotating, is it possible for a CD to come free and become lodged somewhere in the mechanism?

This unit lasted for less than one year from the time I started to use it until it completely broke. The door to load the cds stopped opening and I had used the unit so infrequently I stomped on it and threw it away. I have had problems with other ONKYO products as well. Try some other brand...

I purchased this to replace another Onkyo component. I went on vacation for two weeks, and forgot to turn off my stereo. Bad idea. My receiver timed out, but the CD component did not. So after 15 years, it was time to replace it. I purchased this item to replace the over-heated component. Crystal clear sound, sturdy, Anything Onkyo is top notch, and this component is no exception. Does lots of nice things with music files. I've always had Onkyo stereo components, and I see no reason to change.

I haven't dumped my CD library for one of the online music libraries yet.
The Onkyo fits rather well with my reciever amplifier and no problems yet!
It worked right out of the box and I now have hours of commercial free music.

The player works great. We picked it because of the multiple CD capacity and the price. CD players are hard to find these days in the age of MP3. The features of random track listening is a nice extra.

No fault of the CD player itself but I had a specific spot to place it to replace one that had broken and this player was about an inch deeper in length which causes it to stick out from the shelve unit. However, it works beautifully and I'm totally satisfied with it. I guess I just never thought about dimensions when purchasing online.

I was looking for something that didn't break the bank to play music for several hours when we had friends over for dinner or card games. I hooked the Onkyo to a Bose surround system and it sound WONDERFUL! It changes quietly from one disc to the other when set to random play( which is what I do most of the time). I hated to leave my guest several times in an evening to change CD's . This works great for what I intended. I find myself turning it on while I clean or am working on the computer etc. I'm a music person and listen to music daily so it was a good purchase for me. I would recommend it to anyone who isn't wanting to spend to much but have a good addition to their entertainment systems.

Donated it to someone who enjoys "tinkering" with things. I have no idea what was wrong but the button to open tray did not work and the remote was no help either. Followed instructions carefully (and repeatedly) but to no avail. Next time I'll buy my electronics from a "real" store.

This Onkyo CD changer has a very smart appearance and easy to use. The mechanism is quiet and efficient giving excellent music reproduction. I had been using a Cambridge Audio Azur single CD player which had been driving me crazy for months.. both noisy and unreliable! to my mind this Onkyo unit, represents a huge improvement in every conceivable way. Only beware it is quite a large component so check the dimensions. If you have limited space for your Hifi components this unit may not be the right choice for you.

This CD changer was bought to replace a similar product, unfortunately the random play on this model is not always random playing continuous songs from 1 cd on occasions, other than that I am very pleased with the unit

works great with our Onkyo stereo receiver. remote sync cord lets us only have to use one remote to turn both receiver and cd changer on. Lets you change out 5 discs while one is playing. I would recommend this cd changer

I've had this unit for more than a year and it has performed flawlessly. Changing discs while the unit is playing is easy. The random feature works very well and keeps the play list interesting. The only minor complaint I have, and it is minor, is that sometimes when the unit shuffles it can take 5-10 seconds to select the next track.

I attached it to my house intercom and it does exactly what I wanted it to do. I can now play 6 CDs without having to change each CD.

As usual with devices like this made in the great Junko empire you get a very good product and infuriatingly tiny controls. I can;t see them. Doesn't the Junko empire know about color buttons large enough to see?
