This is the first one ordered,and I have had a replacement,which works fantastic!
when this package arrived half of the polystyrene was missing from inside the box
I installed the system, It would not play the first track of the six cd's, it skipped, stuck.etc
I left it a day, because the booklet said it could be condensation.
That didn't didn't work either,
So I decided to send it back,but I had a new one sent out.
I was packing it up when I noticed a returns label already on the box from where someone else had returned it!!
Come on amazon what are you playing at?
I have taken photos if you want to see the evidence..

there are still a few nice cd players out there and this is one of them. Add the fact that it is a changer and it is a real winner. My experience with hifi gear is it either works when you get it or it doesn't. After that they are generally reliable as I am sure this one would be. Mine was fine but a little bit of common caution is needed. these units (changers) are a little more fragile in my opinion. care must be taken while the unit is open. other than that the sound quality as well as the functionality is wonderful. remote is also sweet. All in all a good buy imho.

I have owned a dx390 for about 3 years and previously had a sony unit. the first thing I noticed was how clear the sound it produced compared to the sony. I was using a onkyo amp (98w per channel) for both units so it was clearly the player. I was hearing sounds from my cd's that I had never heard before.
We had just moved to a new home and I had set up my system and within a few weeks the amp stopped working. no output. I found that the only way to get the amp repaired is to send it to the nearest repair center which is in detroit michigan. I live in tennessee and figured that the repair cost + shipping would be the same, or more, than replacing the unit so I purchased a harmon kardon amp with 120w output per to replace it from amazon. Everything has been fine until reciently the cd unit has been turning on and playing on it's own. It would not respond to commands from the remote so I was turning it off to "stand-by" at the unit. This had been going on for a week and a half (system is in the basment in my man-cave) and was not checked every day. I replaced the batteries in the remote and it responded as it should but I have turned the power off at the power strip to prevent it's re-occuence. Of note, power passes though two surge protector power strips.
I have not had the time to follow up to see if this has corrected the situation but I hope it has. Makes no sense to me.
I may seen screwy to people reading this, but I am beginning to believe our resident ghost/spirit is screwing with me. Unknown to us there was a gentleman that passed away in this house prior to our purchasing it. His wife was struck with dimenchia/alsheimerze (sp) and he was attempting to care for her and passed away with cancer before her. We have heard sounds in the house, ie; crashes in the kitchen sounding like the cubbards had dumped their contents on the floor. My brother and his wife visited us reciently and left for home as believers as they experienced some of the things we have been experiencing.
To sum it up, my rating is a result of my experience with the equipment, amp and player. I am not sure about the robustness of any onkyo units at this time. While they work they are fantastic, but it appears they are no dependable over the long term.

At $150, this product is probably over-priced by about $149.
This unit does not play CDs that worked fine in my old changer. As a matter of fact, they still work fine on my old CD player, which I moved to the second stereo.
How bad is it? I bought a new CD, popped it in the Onkyo and never took it out. It played fine the first time, now it snaps, pops and stops before five minutes have elapsed.
Not buying Onkyo again.

I’ve had the DXC390 now for 3 months and I am very pleased with it. I have it attached to a high-end system (Krell amp, Thiel speakers) with a really good interconnect from LAT International (which made a big difference in sound from a std interconnect.) It replaced a Denon 5 cd changer and it is much superior to the Denon in both sound quality and functionality.
I went looking for a hi-end disc changer to match the Theta Miles single cd player that I use for my system and found that none really exist. So I went with the best changer I could find (from reading countless reviews of changers) in the hopes that the quality of sound would be sufficient, having been spoiled with the superior sound quality of the Theta Miles. The Onkyo, while not in the same class as the Theta Miles, does fill the bill nicely for me.
For those of you with standard stereo and AV systems, I would imagine that the DXC390 would be an excellent choice.

This unit was a real hunk of junk. It would skip several times through each CD. I tried to ignore the skipping so I could at least hear my music, just once. I rely on my music to enjoy the holidays. My Christmas mood was ruined. I just can't stand that skipping. No good music meant no good holiday decorating and the holiday, from start to finish, was ruined. I sent the unit back for a complete refund. Amazon was happy except the return and refund my money.

Our Onkyo CD player was 25+ years old and seemed to be fading, but still worked only on a whim. We purchased the new Onkyo DXC360 and our wonderful Classic Rock CD's play wonderful on the new machine. Trouble is, my hearing is not that good anymore but I love how it plays.

what a perfect dc player. I am so pleased with it. Sound is perfect. Have received many great comments on the sound. I use both cda and mp3 cd's. Currently, I am very satisfied with this CD Player, and I do not anticipate any problems the unit is well engineered and constructed..

I’m very pleased with the CD player as it is exactly what I needed and think it’s a very good deal. I recommend this unit as a replacement or if someone just wants to purchase this type CD player.

You can't get much better than this. A 6 disc changer that plays all songs on all discs in random order if desired (a feature that's not available on most other players). Not only does it play CDs , but it plays CDRs and mp3s. With my large collection of CD's...and with CD's going by the wayside since things are going digital, this player is your best bet if your current player is acting up. Thanks Onkyo afor providing a great player at a great price.

We bought this changer in 2009 and it offered many features and worked great until it just stopped working 2 weeks ago. Front power light was on but there is no response from the unit itself. After all the standard checkout including line voltage up to the regulator, I took it to a ONKYO authorized service center. The problem was traced by the service center to the main power regulator and Onkyo does not carry the part. It seems like the unit is built by / for ONKYO from parts obtained through SONY, TOSHIBA etc. which might explain the situation. It is disappointing that the unit failed and now I have to buy a new replacement unit.

I bought this to replace an earlier Onkyo model of the same CD player, which had developed some problems after years of use. I've had this for a couple of months, and so far no problems. The buttons are not as big as the earlier model's, though - making it a bit nore tedious to see which button is which and which to push.

Not only for phones, however a Beautiful sound very smooth for classical with bags of sharpness when required,
I reckon it needs to stand just below eye level,so you. Can see to place your CDs safely in the carrier,although
No longer in production onkyo will have to will have to do some electronic magic (maybe like include.a phone
Socket including preamp+vol ......for me to replace this charmer .

Excellent quality and feature, surprisingly big. The only complaint or warning I would give is make sure the size will fit in your rack as it is bigger than most amps, turntables, etc. They clearly state size - just make sure you are aware and ok with it. If this is not an issue 5/5 stars!

nice and elegant looking. not too crazy about its functionality. extremely slow in selecting discs and going into play mode. random play flaky, and tends to hang on a single disc. I am keeping the player, as using discs is very rare for me and it does look good on the shelf. if you are looking for a disc to use often and performs extremely well, then, its not this one.
