Had problems right with skipping and stopping during play. Traded it back in and the new one had the same problem.

Prompt delivery. Larger than I anticipated but just fits within my HI-FI cabinet. Connects easily to my existing Amp. Would reccomend to anyone looking for a reasonably priced CD changer for the home.

after reading reviews I decided to buy this unit, & bought a square trade protect which was cheap, can never be to careful in life, so far the product is of Very high quality, is VERY Very clean sounding, no his, hum, buzzing nothing, but clear open, spacious sound, with a decent remote, I pared this with the Yamaya $150 2 channel 100 watt per channel (Natural Sound)...receiver, which is a GREAT match, one of the cleanest sounding systems ive ever owned, the 6 disc changer isn't noisy at all, & is quick, the laser reads the discs really fast, & for those interested it DOES read & play burned on disc music mp3 on cd-r discs, which was a concern of mine, & even flashes the title of the song on its screen as it loading up & playing, is a GREAT Great UNIT that I would HIGH recommend & would for sure buy again!

Still in the stone age, but this unit does what I want. Good for the few dinner music CD's we seem to always play. Just head to the dining room and hit #1 thru #6, play and enjoy. Better sound that the Blu-ray player I was using. Very fast response time.

the disc's get lost in the turnstile quite frequently, which would lead one to think this is a design flaw......

It did not work at all, even with help from Onkyo tech support. Also, it should indicate that it is a component not a player.

Horrible machine, terrible function, can't access all cd's loaded, can't read cd info, terrible play back sound- very thin sound.Onkyo is not at all what it once was, the worst piece of equipment I've purchased in years !!!!!!!! THE WORST - NO DOUBT

I started reading these reviews, to see if anyone else had the problem I am now having. Oddly, 2 other owners reported that their units also started turning themselves on by themselves. This started about 2 weeks ago, and now has progressed to where it will actually start playing, and changing discs non-stop. (How does it do this?).
Unnerving, at first, to wake up one day and find one's CD changer playing by itself.
But, I checked my receipt, and it's 5 years old, so I can't complain about it's longevity.
The question, I, and others now face, is "Does the 'Vector Shaping' and Single DAC make this better than the similarly priced Sony unit? Very few changers still exist on the market. Will a newer Onkyo unit, made in an ever-further outsourced factory be more likely to fail faster?
Just some things to consider.

Maybe one star is unfair, but this is not a CD Player, it is a CD Changer. You need other equipment to make it go.

I was very disappointed with it because when I tried to play I realized there was no speakers attached, now I have to go get some speakers and if that doesn't work I am going to return it.

This has to be one of the easiest installations I have done in a very long time. I connected the DXC390 to our old Onkyo Receiver using one coax cable and loaded 6 CDs and the DXC390 played all 6 discs without a problem. Now a month later all is well. I have not tested the remote and I have no plans to do so. We have no need for it.

Excellent unit, well built and it sounds great. Controls are easy to navigate and simple enough that even "Grandma" could use it. My only issue with it is that if there is only one CD in the player, the unit needs to be "tricked" to get the carrousel to rotate to a position where you can get the disk out. My unit also has an issue of skipping when a CD has a nasty scratch in it, but then again this is a below $200.00 unit and not a $1,500.00 unit.
Would I buy this product again? YES. Good value for the money.

The extra disc (instead of 5) just makes it that much longer between changes. Sounds great and has the necessary features.

While I am very happy with the sound quality and look of this "stereo system component" I was a bit miffed when it was delivered and I realized that this piece is essentially a CD changer, not a player.
The item listing says: 6 Disc CD Player, which I took to mean that it was a fully functional CD player and all I had to do was plug it in and start enjoying my music.
After reading the manual and going back online and seeing some additional reviews, I realized that it was only one component.
I had to order an additional piece of equipment, as well as new speakers, in order for me to play my CDs.
So, it did cost me much more than I had initially anticipated.
That being said, I am very happy with the quality and functioning of this piece and am very happy with its capability to hold/play 6 CDs, as well as a remote control (which came with batteries -- a definite plus) and listening options such as shuffle, repeat, etc.
I probably could have hooked up my old speakers to this system, but was afraid it would negatively impact the sound quality.

Great CD changer I love the way it looks and works the remote is real easy to use, the unit is not noisy in operation did I mention it looks great!! it fits perfect with the other components!

My husband (now deceased) had an Onkyo CD disc changer/. Since he had purchased this for his Performance System I thought I should purchase the same brand. I am NOT in the least disappointed. My ONKYO 6 CD Changer is fabulous!! I highly recommend it to everyone who enjoys QUALITY systems components. They can always be found at AMAZON.COM. Katie Lott, Murphy, NC.

Replaced a Sony 5 disc that worked great but finally died. The Onkyo seems just as clean and clear, maybe even better in overall sound quality. I was in the market for just a CD player and not interested in it being able to play DVD's so in that respect it is perfect for my needs.

This thing stopped working the first time I used it. Made it through 4 cds then stopped mid song on the 5th cd. Then played the 3rd disc only and then quit playing altogether. I need to send it back for a refund.

It's a good quality player. My only complaint is, I can't figure out how to unload a specific CD. When I press the eject button, it may or may not show me the CD I want to remove. I may have to reload it and eject it a few times before I get the one I want. But I am really pleased with the sound and performance.

After some research and reading reviews i purchased this unit, despite the negative reviews. I'm pleasantly satisfied with the performance thus far. Connected to Onkyo 9050 integrated amp via coax cable the sound reproduction via a pair of Bic bookshelf speakers is really remarkable. Clear sound throughout with detailed separation. My only real disappointment is the lack of single disc shuffle which i was aware of before purchase. The major selling points for me were the 6 disc capacity and the connectivity with the amp's remote, I would highly recommend this component for basic CD and MP3 playing.
