After reading so many good reviews about this camera, and nikon bodies in general, I decided to switch from canon.I have to say this camera amazes me, and it's light and easy to use, and not expensive.My #1 priority was iso performance, and it delivers: shots at 1600 are beautiful, and at 3200 are really ok.Then the ergonomy, menus and options are top-notch, way better than what you get with canon.It just makes you want to take pictures.About the lens: you want this lens. Ok it's not the sharpest, but the zoom range makes it usable in most conditions, the one you need when you can carry only one lens, or going around a city to take random shots.In terms of sharpness it's really ok, unless you really drill down to the pixel.Last but not least, the VR is a marvel. It's totally silent, yet your shots are sharp down at 1/5 and lower.If you get the package, it's $100 off the lens, and really worth it.the videos: I havent made any yet, having too much fun taking pictures :)Really an awesome camera!I compared it to the nikon d300 and canon 50d and I thing this is the best choice and less expensive!

I previously owned a Nikon D70 and recently purchased the D90 kit. First the D90 camera is an excellent instrument. It's features, such as D-lighting and it's wonderful image qualities from high ISO along with good quality, lenes makes this camera a joy to own. The large screen is excellent and the menu interface is easy to use. The only down side to me is that D90's body is smaller than the D70's and feels strange, but not uncomfortable, in my hands. Nikon editing soft wear, in my honest opinion, is difficult to use and non intuitive. The kit lens would not be the first lens I would choose and have other lenes that I own. Those people complaining that an entire video program cannot be shot on the D90 are missing the point. The real breakthrough for professionals is that this still camera can be used, simply and cheaply, as a second video camera just for special scenes---fires, explosions, car crashes, crucial points in sports events, etc. You can have simultaneous coverage of very short scenes with one wide angle and one tight angle! This saves renting a second video camera with tripod, accessories, etc. And the 720x1280 frames cut in perfectly to any 720P footage you are shooting with the main camera.

It's new, it's exciting and it's fun to use. Matrix metering, center weighted metering and spot metering are all very good. Autofocus works very well even with long telephoto lenses. Works well with Nikon DX lenses as well as some of the older lenses I purchased for my film camera. No complaints yet about this body. Buy one and have some fun!

I've had my D90 for a couple of weeks now, and I can't say that I understand most of the features and whiz-bang stuff the camera can do, but it sure does take nice pictures. For example, I was at the 2009 Westminster Dog Show last night, and I took some shots with the D90 and the 18-200 Nikon lens using only the light in Madison Square Garden (no flash). I'm sure the pros sitting on the Garden floor got better results, but I was really happy with my results. Take a look if you want to see how this camera performs in "real life" in the hands of a hobbiest.[...]

I bought this camera as a gift for my dad and he really enjoys it. It works great and takes really awesome photos.

Not much I can say that hasn't been said already.The D90 is an outstanding camera, user friendly, takes great photos. I upgraded from a D60 and in short the D60 and D90 aren't even on the same planet. IQ is noticeably better, even more at high ISO's. No more surfing though menus to change settings on the fly, just push a button and move one of the dials. Live view is nice if you like to use it. The 11 point AF is excellent and fast.If you are thinking about getting one, just do it, you will be very pleased you did.

The name speaks for itself! I anguished long and hard to drop this kind of money for a camera, but no regrets, other than I wish I would have waited 2 more weeks as Amazon dropped the price another $50. I did a lot of research and was glad I did as I decided to ditch the kit lens and add a much better lens to the body myself. I chose the 16-85MM VR lens and could not be happier. Solid quality all the way around. I just need to learn how to get the most out of a high tech piece of technology. Next addition to the package will be the 70-300mm VR, which will happen this week.

Received within three days of order using UPS ground. Packed well, all components included per advertisement.

This is an excellent camera for serious amateur or entry level professional. However, the camera has few setting for novice DSLR users e.g. flower mode which I find pretty useless. Maybe Nikon is targeting few customers from it's coolpix range camera users but I give a star less for those extra setting.The ISO range is very good, but the metering is not always at it's best. I have shot few hundreds photos with 3F auto exposure bracketing but sometime I got all 3 shots underexposed. The metering system could have been better. Only electronic cable release is available. It should have been made a part of standard accessory.The bottom line is that the camera dose produce excellent photographs.

D90 is a great camera comparing its price with other camera. Quality it produce is great.But only buy from MOST trusted seller. I bought my D90 online from Ritz camera two months ago, but.. my there was no warranty card. The bag contains CD-ROM, manuals & warranty card was in opened plastic bag. I contact them and they replied that they are investigating the matter. Then no more messages!! since two months.I send couple of email reminding them about seriousness of matter, but no reply.I am really disappoint by the after sales service of ritz camera. I preferred B&H or CALUMET but by listening good comment from others i first time (and last time) i buy from them. I am still struggling for my warranty card.

Got the camera and the 18-200 lense a few weeks back. I am upgrading from a D70. Overall, I am very satisfied with the quality of the pictures - much better response in low light - higher ISO and better focus than the 70. Love the lens as well - this will be all I need for everything.I did have an issue with the camera where I was getting F-- errors intermittently - depending on how I held the camera. This is a lens error per documentation. I was also getting CHA errors on the camera which is a chip error and only recoverable by removing the battery. Given that I was only 2 weeks into the camera I spoke with Amazon and exchanged the unit and lens for a replacement. I am confident that the new unit, which I got very quickly from Amazon - will function fine.Great unit and the video is a great feature.

A lot of great features for the price. In comparison with other similar D-SLR's for the same price, the D90 is head and shoulders above the rest.

Great camera best for one with knowledge of SLR's but for those who don't you should pick up the basics quickly. Great parts of more expensive cameras but at a decent price. Just get out there and enjoy

It is all that I expected from the camera. The video in a DSLR like this is amazing. I also bought the 18-200 mm lense, MB D80 battery pack grip and SB 600 flash, both from Nokia and suitable for this camera. Don't buy other quality accessories, rather wait and buy the right stuff. For the lenses, you may need a couple of filters, the Hoya PRO1 UV & Hoya Circular Polariser are good. The camera handles lighter than the D300, which my brother uses, but I preferred this camera because its lighter and also has video.

Even though I have had other digital cameras before ,this is the first d-slr I have owned. I am happy with the camera so far.Even though it is a little inconvenient with the size, I find that it is worth the inconvenince to make good photos. Low light situations I recommend going to manual focus. The auto focus in these situations will leave you missing the shot. Still shots in low light are no problem if on manual . Multiple fps in good light will amaze you at what you can capture. I have tried the video feature and the quality is very good ,however using the zoom while videoing is a little cumbersome. I am presently using 2 sdhd memory cards / 6 write speeds and I have no problem capturing photos even using 4 fps setting.

David Pogue, NY Times, said this product represented a major upgrade to what one could expect to do with a digital SLR and he was right. I have been shooting with a Canon 30D for years but have found that although it produced high quality pictures I didn't like using it all that much because of the control layout, weight, view finder only composition and lack of video features. This camera is seems much lighter than the Canon 30D (more plastic but still rugged) , the controls are very nicely laid out, the view screen composure mode works well, and the HD video for short clips is wonderful. After a day of shooting, I must say I am amazed at how well this camera works for me, a true prosumer camera user. I am giving away my Canon to my son and making the D90 my main camera for the foreseeable future. You can read all the specs that others have offered, I just wanted folk to know this camera is every bit as good as the hype, and possibly better. I know I am in love.

I upgraded from the D80, which was an upgrade from the D50. Not surprisingly, the D90 is miles ahead of both cameras. The image quality is superb. For some reason I never fell in love with my D80. It seemed to struggle with proper exposure. Strangely, my D50 didn't have that problem. But the D90 appears to get the exposure correct, most of the time. I really like the ability to adjust color saturation in-camera. The auto focus is excellent and the very fast frame rate in burst mode is great for sports shooting. The LCD screen is one of the main improvements. It is very large and bright. I'm not going to review the video mode - I didn't buy the camera for that reason. I liked the D50, tolerated the D80, but love the D90. Isn't technology progress great?

All I can say is WOW! This camera has done everything I want it to do and more. The picture quality is absolutely amazing. There are so many creative things you can do with this camera especially when you incorporate the hd movie mode which I have to say isn't as bad as I had thought although if you move it from one side to another too fast it will look sloppy. I love this camera much more than I had expected and the optical quality of the 18-105 is great as well. If you aren't sure where to go with this camera or perhaps a canon 40d or 50d this is most definitely the better choice!Happy Shooting!

I just got the D90 today and already I'm in love with it. It's replacing my D80 which is a nice camera, but the D90 surpasses it in many ways, not the leaset of which is the video mode. It fits the hand just right, menus are intuitive and easy to find and adjust. The view finder is clear and I love being able to pop in a grid. I got the kit with the 18-105 lens just so I'd get the camera faster and find I'm delighted with the VR. The lens feels tight (my 18-200 tends to slip when pointing down), the pictures are crisp and spot on. I'm going to recommend you get a D80 so you'll buy my old camera...just kidding...get the D90 and you'll be so pleased. The manual is easy to understand, too. Luckily, it uses the same battery as my D80, comes with a slip resistant shoulder strap, battery, charger...everything you'll need to jump right in and start shooting. Oh, better get a SD card because it doesn't come with one. I bought 4gig card and get over 1000 pics in large jpg mode.

Wow. I've had the D90 for about three months now and I absolutely love it. Although it is does not have ultra rugged build quality like it's expensive siblings it shoots like you would expect from any Nikon. Amazing quality, speed, build, and stylish for a DSLR. The D90 is has a manageable body size that is fairly convenient to carry around with you anywhere. The CF-D80 case works wonderfully. Great camera, definitely recommended!

Nikon D90 was a great step up from the Nikon D40. As an enthusiastic amateur, I needed a camera that could do a little bit more, and the Nikon D90 has not disappointed. An added bonus is the live view screen and video options, as well as more options when working in manual mode.

I love it. I am a university student who takes photography fairly seriously as a hobby. I shoot lots of portraiture for friends and lots for fun as well. The High ISO capabilities of the D90 make it great for shooting concerts in low light. LiveView and Movie mode are slow, but who cares? I never planned on using those anyway.Overall a superb camera. Easy to use, intuitive, great results, and fun to use!
