This camera and lens kit are amazing. The focus ability in low light compared to my D5100 are night and day. You will need to be more familiar with properly using the settings as it is not as 'dummy proof' as the D5100. For instance when using flash it will not automatically drop to 1/250. Make sure to tell it you are using flash for white balance and do NOT leave it on Auto. But if you are looking to step up your ability of taking photos in various environments I would totally recommend this camera.NOTE: It does not come with a lens hood, so make sure you order one if you shoot around the sun.

Really fast camera, but buffer fills way too fast and does not work well in shade, cloudy days, or with shadows. Thought it would be a great back up for my D600, but like they say, once you go FX you won't go back.

I've had my D7100 now for 4 days. Its everything I expected from reading the reviews and detailed descriptions before I purchased it. Initial shots are crisp and clear and the performance of the 18-105mm zoom lens is excellent from what I've seen so far. I'm upgrading to a more capable camera from my old D60 that I thoroughly enjoyed using and will keep as an emergency backup, but If I don't ever need it. My D7100 is now my go-to. Functionally this camera has just about all the high-end features I wanted, depth-of-field preview, auto bracketing, and very flexible programming options. Besides having excellent resolution and color rendition, it offers as much or as little control as you desire. I can see a big difference in performance from my D60, and I've only just begun to explore all of the control options. With the 24 MP resolution, I'm glad I didn't waste the extra money going to an FX format model. Also I'm glad to be able to use my beautiful NIKKOR Ai manual-focus non-CPU lenses that have spent the last several years in my camera bag. The ability to program them into the camera's computer and full meter coupling for these classics makes them as useable as they ever were. I also like the lightning fast processing rate and very quite operation of the D7100 even in regular Single or Continuous modes.

Lots of camera for the money, and lots of features. Bought this one as an upgrade to the D7000 because of the focusing issues. So far so good.

Love this camera!! Takes fabulous photos in all situations. I bought it to take pics of basketball games. Excellent stop action photography.

To the point:The d7100 is a great camera. The photos are tac sharp, the colors are spot on, and the camera is responsive. Some of the factory default settings are questionable, for me at least, but they can easily be remedied by flipping through the menus and setting your own preferences. I've been using the camera for a couple of week now and did not encounter any of the issues mentioned in some of the reviews.

This package gives you everything you would need to get started. This is a serious upgrade from a basic DSLR, I would put this on the "semi-pro" level.Absolutely fantastic except the movie mode....garbage.....the fact that you cannot adjust aperture in live mode is silly. Besides that small thing.....it is amazing

I love this camera. I recently switched from another brand, and I am thoroughly satisfied! The button placements are fantastic and super user friendly. I am crazy about this camera.

It's an amazing camera with tons of features. I would say it it is one of the good product which pro's should have. I am very convinced withy the quality and features.

GREAT pictures! I just wish it came with an additional lens. It shoots amazing pictures. I normally use an 85mm prime lens and the pictures are beautiful.

Wonderful camera! I love this bundle. Great start up product and once you read the manual, its very easy to master. I'm so happy.

Bought this camera as a step up from point and shoot. So far I`m disappointed. In auto mode I can`t get any consistent sharp photos. I would shoot day and night to learn more about the camera. Ask a buddy to bring out his Canon 70D for a shoot and his consistently comes out ahead. He had a 18-105mm lens with the same f-stop. I`m pretty sure I need to learn more about the camera but It should perform at least decent with a simple point and shoot.

This camera is such a miracle worker! Very high quality, but I expect nothing less coming from Nikon. Such a big upgrade coming from a D3100, and I have no regrets! I highly recommend it.

Like many others, I have been waiting for the anticipated D400 which I have just about given up on. I bought the d7100 for Amazon about 2 months ago and have never looked back. It is a wonderful camera and a superb upgrade from my D300 and D7000. My main concerns at first were the weight of the camera and how it would feel in my hands. After working with the camera almost daily, I have gotten over this concern. It is well built and feels good especially with the addition of the battery pack.The buffer is shallow as has been noted by many reviewers but because I no longer shoot sports this is not a concern. Shooting JPEG for sports will help with this issue for sports and action photographers. I personally shoot RAW with normal JPEG as back up.I love this camera and would suggest going to a camera shop and getting one in your hands. I think you will be converted as I was.PS. The sensor is fantastic and the resultant images will amaze you. I have not shot in very bad weather with it yet and doubt that I will.-Cheers

I bought this camera very early on after its release. It has served me very well, producing excellent results all around. Moire has not been a problem at all- even in some worse case scenarios with fabrics and screens where I anticipated problems. Many, many thousands of pictures later it is functioning well, proving to have a robust mechanical design. If I had bought this camera expecting to use the video feature, I would only rate it 4/5 because it really isn't very good. So if that is what you are looking for, proceed with caution and check some video samples first.

Sweet camera for the price. I use it in the lower 13 million option for some work as the 24 million eats hard drive space. Excellent video also.

I upgraded from the D7000 to the D7100 because I wanted more pixels, but if you use JPEG the camera tries to to get rid of noise with processing (even at ISO100) and give you really soft images, if you use RAW you get more pixels allright, but you also get a LOT MORE NOISE, SO FOR ME, UPGRADING FROM THE D7000 HAS BEEN A HUGE WASTE, paid a lot for the same I would have gotten with a d7000.Then another problem, with ISO800 for instance, the D7000 did GREAT with Dynamic Range, but with the D7100 the dynamic range at ISO800 the Dynamic Range Drops to the same of a damn cellphone!!!I just got much better images with the 14MP of the D7000 than with the 24 of the D7100, in everthing else it's practically the same camera.

Great camera and lens. With the 18-105 mm lens this makes a good all around carry camera covering most situations.Very sharp photos and I like the in camera program giving endless possibilities..Been using this camera for about a month now with no problems and I keep it with me most of the time.

This is an excellent camera! It is very well built and quite durable. When you change lenses, you don't have to worry about dust to the same extent you would with a lower grade model.With this you get a bird's eye view at any level. Your photos will come out sharp and clear regardless of lighting. You can work with your camera and adapt yourself to it and the enviornment in which you are photographing.Another really good feature is that you can work with your filter and have control over the flash. In fact, you don't really need your external flash. While you are paying a lot for this camera, you are getting plenty of bang for your buck. I think you will be pleased with the quality of your photographs..

When I take three shots in a row, it takes eight seconds for the first image to show up on the screen. This takes less than a second on my old 12Mp D90 or my friends D7000 -- same memory cards (all class 10), same lenses, same everything else. Since I usually check the back of the camera to see if the shot turned out, this extra wait time is a deal-killer. I missed the cut-off to return this D7100 to Amazon, so I sent it in to Nikon for a warranty repair. Unfortunately, Nikon doesn't see this as a problem.Why two stars instead of one? The low-level of noise in nighttime shots is excellent! I still regret buying this camera, though. I recommend that you avoid it.

Using this with my 2 existing dx lenses: 35mm f1.8 and 18-200 VR. This new camera is great. Amazing dynamic range and autofocus system is great. Perfect for photos of the kids in action. Using this with eyefi pro card.

I purchased this to replace my Canon 7D. Considering this is newer and has the OLPF removed, I expected better quality. What I got instead was a generic DSLR camera. Yes it shoots nice photos but so do $500 DSLRs littering the market. I have no idea why this camera has been hyped to the max. My 7D shot incredible magazine quality photos, straight out of the box, on full auto. This camera can't even match the quality of the 7D, forget about surpassing it. I really wanted to switch over to Nikon but all that counts ultimately is image quality and this camera is just another one in the bunch. Nothing stands out. You can see some sample images I uploaded. They are point and shoot jpg's without any processing or filters. You can see that it's a basic DSLR camera. Why does it cost so much? Unjustified price for this level of performance. Lame.I gave it two stars instead of one because it does have some technical "wows" such as megapixel count, shots per second, etc. etc. but why does that matter when the picture itself is generic quality you can get in a cheap DSLR? When you look at a picture, do you ask "Wow! I wonder how many shots per second were used or the exact f-stop setting to capture this image?" No. You either like the photo or you don't. I don't like what I see from the images from this camera. Not at this price.

Great DSLR. All the pro-level features I was looking for at a consumer price. This is a camera that I suspect will last me years.
