So far, it is a great DSLR. I need to learn more about all the functions, and I'm using it as a really nice point and shoot. I love the lens, and I really like that this lens has metal mounting flanges. I just hope it all proves to be sturdy and reliable.

Upgraded from a stolen D5100, which I liked a lot.I love this camera and would have gave it 5 stars but after a few shots some spots appeared on my photos. I thought it was oil because I tried several times the cleaning function and nada. Then I bought and used a rocket air blaster and the spots disappeared, so finally it was dust and not oil.

I was anxiously awaiting the arrival of my D7100, hopeful that it would be OK without any of the focus or other issues etc. that the D7000 had and so far I am blown away. I have spent the last several days putting it through the paces and it has exceeded my expectations. The handling and ergonomics are superb. The pictures are sharp and the color excellent. It is solid, fits my hand well and the controls are intuitive and well laid out.The focus is right on, exposure is accurate, I still use exposure compensation but that's more a personnel preference in how I want my pictures to look. This camera has all the tools that any serious photographer needs and then some. If you have a passion for photography and want control of all aspects of your photography then this is the camera for you. If you are more of a point & shoot person then the D3200 or D5200 might serve you better. They both take super pictures. This is the last DSLR I will buy, as I am 70 years old, and I expect this camera to meet all my needs for years to come. My only other camera purchase will be the Fujifilm x100s for when I don't want the bulk or weight of a DSLR.

With 24.1 MP and two SD card slots I can shoot pictures forever. Still learning all the features of this camera. This was an upgrade from my D5000 and well worth the $$.Video mode is easy and the continual auto focus makes movie taking easy. Also features two shooting modes of DX and 1.3. Recommend buying one of the popular books by professionals all about this particular camera instead of trying to stumble through the manual that comes with it.

but the camera weighs a lot. i returned it for a 3300 expecting it to be lighter and easy to take with me.

This is another great product from the Nikon. I am not a professional photographer but I use it for my hobby. The camera is fantastic with so many customization options. A learning curve is required but effects can speak for themselves. Lastly, I am not sure how, but the sharpness of this camera is beyond anything I ever saw.

I'm giving in to the fact this camera is smarter than I am! Hard to take! The more I use it and practice, the better. Read and re-read the booklet , practice, practice!

WOW, try one, rent one and check it out. I have a D7000 that I totally love, couldn't believe this would be such an improvement but it is! Same lens, sharper pictures, Instantly. Better then the D600 at much less $$ in my opinion. Try one you'll see!

In one word, all that I can say is that this is AWESOME. Being my first digital SLR, I have not made a bad decision. It produces some great pictures with a lot of easy to use functional components (without having to get into the menu). The menu system that this camera comes with is not the best (but I think it's pretty decent). I have used Canon systems before (to give Canon some credit, it was a couple generations old and about an entry level camera) you had to go to the menu to get a lot done; not the case with the D7100, however the Canon menu system seemed a lot more user friendly. Not a big deal, a couple of thousand shutters later, I have learnt a good deal to be able to get good pictures from this camera.The camera feels solid in your hand (I have large sausage fingers, but it's still works great) -- The front doesn't feel as good when you're holding to take some photos, but if you're just holding the camera, it feels perfect.Overall such a great product, I would recommend this to anyone who is serious about getting into photography, yes, even if it is weekend photography at your friend's place.

One of the best DX DSLR available. Very fast focusing and the image quality is outstanding. I can use my old manual focus nikon lenses. If you have nikon lenses, buy this camera.

I had the Nikon d600 before, but there are issues with it and they put out a new version. The d610. So to save myself some money i went back to a crop sensor camera, the D7100 and i could not be happier. I cannot really tell a difference in quality from the d600 to the d7100. Bravo Nikon, your camera is great. However, your service sucks. Amazon on the other hand rocks.

Nikon has included all the features that assist a weekend photographer in becoming more than just a point and shoot photographer. The controls are located in a logical location and using the menu is not difficult to master.

The D7100 is a fantastic camera, very quick and very easy to learn to use. The build quality is excellent. The crop mode works beautifully and gives your lenses extra reach and flexibility.

I have a D90, and I use it for almost 5 years, and took 60K photos.I love my D90, and but I wanted un upgrade.The D7100 is the same D90, but with a better autofocus system. otherwise, it take the same photos.The D7100 is bigger and heavier, than D90, due the wheather protection. The autofocus 51 point is amazing, and very very fast.However the D90 has nothing to lost compare to the D7100, both cameras are amazyng.Best regards, German from Argentina.

Pictures from Nikon D7100 are ... beautiful. They are very sharp in details even in low light. Anyway, there may be enough posts of positive things about Nikon D7100. This post is about unusual something seen in Nikon D7100's RAW images ...1. RAW images were always captured at 12-bit (lossless compressed RAW 12-bit) even though the camera was set at lossless compressed 14-bit2. RAW image's size was always at 1620x1080 @12-bit no matter which Image Quality option was chosen (NEF+JPEG fine, NEF+JPEG normal, NEF+JPEG basic, NEF)3. JPEG images were recorded at 6000x4000 @8-bit (Large)I used latest Nikon Capture NX2 version 2.4.1 and Nikon View NX2 version 2.0.2RAW images from Nikon D7000 were reported correctly using these same Nikon Capture/View NX2 software. In other words, D7000's raw images were properly recorded at 4928x3264 (L), lossless compressed RAW 14-bitHave anyone seen/had this problem with Nikon D7100?I wonder if my D7100 were a defected one. I bought mine brand new from local Best Buy store.Besides these weird issues (and I hope I can get answers/solution soon), I love this new camera, and I strongly recommend it to everyone

This camera is definitely a huge step up from D60 that I was using prior to purchasing this one. It is compatible with all my previous lenses. I especially like the dual SD card slots. It's a great feature.

TAKES GREAT PICTURES A LOT BETTER THAN MY D 90. SUPER SHARP PICTURES. I AM NOT HAPPY IF I CAN NOT SEE THE HAIR ON A BUG. USE A SanDisk Extreme Pro 32 GB SDHC Class 10 UHS-1 Flash Memory Card 95MB/s WITH IT & BURST MODE WILL SHOOT ALL DAY SHOOTING FINE JPEG. NOT TO GREAT FOR VIDEO BECAUSE THE APERTURE WILL NOT CHANGE IN VIDEO MODE.

im coming from d3200 after one year of use, i found that d7100 offers huge jump especially on controlling the camera on the fly, worth every dollar.

I love it. We're finally upgrading from our beloved, rock solid D70s that's been around the world with us and shot tens of thousands of photos. The new D7100 is a great replacement. Photo quality & color, camera speed, you name it. I've been shooting macro, landscape, and portrait with my new D7100 (using all my old lenses from the D70s) and have not been disappointed. If you've been hemming and hawing about upgrading an aging consumer or prosumer Nikon camera, now is a great time to do so!I'm currently using two Transcend 32GB class 10 memory cards and have not noticed any slowness shooting photos (RAW+JPEG) or 1080 video.Pros:- I'm coming from a D70s, so I like most everything about this camera.- All the extra options. I like options. The D7100 is an improved version of my old camera, plus video, plus wifi (optional add-on), plus dual memory cards, etc etc.Cons:- The only con I've come up with so far is sound of the lens auto-focusing during video recordings. It's definitely noticeable on the playback! I have not tried the microphone accessory yet though.
