This is a perfect camera if you do not want to lug around a full frame $6000.00 camera! Fast shutter speeds. Semi lite. Images are so sharp you almost have to blur them slightly! The ISO is great up to about 1600 indoors. I was shooting a 50mm 1.8 so it is a fast lens with a fast camera. Awesome! One last thing. Have you ever pressed your shutter button and it seemed like forever for the camera to focus... Not with this bad boy. You press the button, the AF reaches out and grabs your subject so fast it seems almost impossible. Great Camera!

this is my fourth Nikon. just upgraded from a D7000 which is still have as my backup that i have a 50mm f/1.8 AF-S lens on. I have had this camera less then a month and have entered two photo contest. the first contest is a Juried contest i had two out of three photo excepted and my second contest was the county fair last weekend.. i won two first place ribbons and one second place ribbons all shot with this camera. the one photo i loved the most was the Fourth of July fireworks. I had the D7100 on a tripod with my 18 -300 mm lens set to manual focus, F11, ISO 100 and " Bulb " i used my wireless remote to control the shutter to eliminate any shake. every shot was time lapsed. i tried different times 6 seconds, 8 seconds, 12 seconds and a few at about 20 seconds. Every shot came out PERFECT, i won a first place blue ribbon with one of the ten second shots. i wish i could post one of them here just so you could see how these came out, the background is totally noise free just pure black. i had no problem with the D7000 this camera replaced. i just want a few more feature and the 24 megapx is a little bigger photo. This Nikon exceeds my expectations.

I will be honest and give it 4 stars instead of 5 because I just got my camera on March 24th and I give it 4 stars for the test shots that I have made and getting to know how the camera works. I tested my kit lenses of 18-55mm and55-200mm. I am well pleased with the images and they are better than the Nikon D5100. I briefly got the chance to evaluate all photos in CS 5. When I took test shots on my 50mm f1.8, of course they were sharper. I will have to do some more testing tomorrow so I can post them. Since it is still winter (groundhog got it wrong) colors will look mundane so I will try my best for some decent shots.Auto focus extremely fast. It is one of the things I like about the camera. I took test shots of planes flying overhead and in standard auto focus, not the tracking auto focus, the camera tracked the airplane from a good distance and also on approach.If you own the Nikon D5100, the menu is similar and the camera is very easy to set up.As far as in other reviews where people have said they don't like where the buttons are set up, I cannot relate, but where the buttons are, just fine for me.One interesting thing that I liked about the camera is that is has an additional 1.3 crop which can be set up in the camera menu. This 1.3 crop actually zooms in on the subject/object without myself adjusting the lens. Would be great for sports and event photography which is what I want to get into.Camera is a good buy. Sometimes to make money, have to invest money. Camera is worth the investment. I will try to post images later. Cheers.

I simply love it. This is my second Nikon DSLR. My first being a D3100. I am an amateur but enjoying all the features of this camera. I couldn't get into all the details because well, I don't understand them yet. But what I can tell you is this camera takes amazing pictures and I am super excited to learn more and more about all the amazing features of this camera. It also arrived from the seller weeks before the date expected so that made my day. Good luck to all those that buy this awesome Camera.

What can you say about Nikon that is not already known to photographers that know its history.The only thing I can add is, the disk that comes with the camera is a meager 8, so, be prepared to spend another $100 for the 64 disk, or more if you want the 90.

This is my first DSLR camera. I figured if I was gonna get a good one I better get a REALLY good one. I have no regrets of any kind. This baby is flawless! I even got a few decent lenses. Some of the kits out there are really nice and have tons of attachments that are a bit harder to find on their own. I have taken a few shots of random things and a old Hindu temple with it and my lack of experience so far does not seem to show thru. The pix were gorgeous. If i figure out how to upload some on amazon I will >.<

Not quite a month in to owning this camera, have just shot my first wedding and found it to be a champ. Still love my D90, good to have old reliable around as a back up to this newer technology. Will report back after a few more outings.

It has so many characteristics! Great images, very good pics'quality. It only needs a little more of creativity for my photographies, ha!

This is and excellent camera, but I would not recommend it to someone who has never owned a DS before.

I had a D5000 for about 3 years, I had about pushed the limits of that camera so I decided to upgrade to the D7100. The sharpness, clarity and controls are amazing. Everything about this camera is better than I had hoped. It took a few days of tinkering and actually opening the manual to try and learn stuff. I will say the manual that came with it is junk, not really helpful at all. I got Ken Rockwell's guide to the D7000 (he has not released his guide to the D7100 yet) and it was a ton of help. After a few hours of looking at that and tinkering with the camera I was out and shooting.

Wanted to take my pictures up a notch and the D7100 certainly did that. Found it easy to use and got some really nice shots. Next move might be to get a new lens to get better wild life shots. Had been shooting basketball and scenic things waiting for spring.

Really great camera, but in addition to the manual that comes with the camera, you will need to buy a more detailed book on operation. This camera has so many gizmos that I'm quit sure there is a launch mechanism for sending satellites into space. When you get the additional (detail) manual, you will be constantly entertained by what this camera can do in addition to just taking a picture. You will have to purchase additional accessories to get the full effect, but they are worth every cent.

Sold my d300s for the d7100. Don't regret a bit. Great low light performance. Great overall image quality that surpasses the d300s by a large margin. It's smaller, so easier to carry. The dual SD card solved a major nuisance of d300s. The controls are just as easy to use albeit a little bit of adjustment, but once I found everything I need, it was easy to get used to. Only quip is the continuous shooting speed seems lack that of the d300s, and it felt less professional grade. But that matters little to me as I am not a pro user.

I love my D7100!!!!!!!!!!!. It is truly wonderful. The item arrived on time in perfect condition. I am planning to get a nikon 18-200 mm to go along with this.

Oh Yeah... Upgraded from a D7000 and was worth it. As all say, I am not going to go into pixel peeking, or tech specs. Just going to say that out of the box it feels like home. Love the new i-button and cool (yeah I like it) in-camera HDR. The camera is solid. Feels at home in my hands and the menus work as expected. Photos are "better" than on my D7000 with the same glass. I tend to use the 18-200 much of the time (the older on with lens creep) and find the images perfect for my purposes. Buy it you won't be disappointed. PS no oil issues, no build issues, nothing buy joy....

Very pleased with my purchase.Having always been a "Nikon fan", and disappointed when sold a D300 that then came with "non-Nikon lenses" by a rogue New York web supplier who changed my order over the phone, alluding I was getting all Nikon products, I am now back to 100% Nikon camera and lenses.

Can be a point and shoot as well as a portrait warrior. I love this camera after an upgrade from a D60. Hi ISO for indoor sports and comfortable to carry for a full day of activity

The Camera seems fine; Nikon is not the reason for the rating. Amazon advertised this at a reduced price as a very good condition warehouse item. What I got was a different (lesser) lens than advertised. Amazon will not stand by their ad and send the correct lens. They will only refund, very disappointed with Amazon I thought they were better than this. I am sure this great company will charge me to return the D7100 book I no longer have use for.

The very first thing that was wrong with it straight out of the box, was a huge chunk of some sort of dirt on the sensor, clearly visible at f5.6. OK, i turned on the cleaning function, and it was gone. So I hoped that would be the worst thing that would happen. I never had any issues with my D90 for 4 years.Wrong! As i was trying out the interval exposure setting, the autofocus motor just gave up. Well, I decided to change the lens. It wouldn't even lock. It seems that the motor is done and i cant secure the lens. Keep in mind thats within 2 hours and under 200 actuations through the camera.I'll give it another shot as i get my replacement, and post the update.P.s. just so we are clear, it broke while using the Nikon 35mm f1.8, and didn't work with 17-55mm f2.8 and Sigma 10-20mm either.Update. Amazon customer service is the best. They shipped out my replacement already using one day Sat delivery. I don't even have to go to UPS to drop the broken camera off, the UPS driver will get it.23 March 2013 update. The replacement is here. this camera is absolutely wonderful. Slight front focus, but nothing that couldn't be fixed by the in-camera adjustment. The video quality is absolutely superb and looks awesome on my 60" Bravia. I have no choice but to change my rating from 1 to 5 stars. Here's to my new camera!

The user interfsace is what really put this camea on my short list. The models below will shoot quality pics however, the interface sets this camea a cut above. By not having to drill down in menus to change settings comes in real handy.

I just love my new Nikon D7100 24.1 MP Camera. I have just started working with this camera and there is a lot I still need to learn. The camera takes great pictures and I'm having a lot of fun with the camera.

Didn't purchase it on amazon, bought it in a store but I am a photography student and I love this feature rich camera. It serves every purpose of mine and then some. Fantastic in low light and in every other light imaginable.i currently have the 35 mm 1:8 lens on it which I believe the best inexpensive piece of glass nikon offer. Highly highly recommended !!!

This is an excellent camera for serious photographers. I bought it to replace my N90 model. I can tell a big difference in the two cameras, even though I am not a professional photographer. Photography is only a hobby with me. Photos are awesome. Camera is fairly lightweight and easy to use. You will enjoy this camera!

I owned a Nikon D300, then I bought the D600 and returned it due to all the negatives about the oil issue when the D7100 came out with the same megapixel count. This camera is lighter and uses all my current DX lenses. I love the photos it takes and have no issue with no AA filter on the sensor at all. Highly recommend this camera.
