Great camera and lens. With the 18-105 mm lens this makes a good all around carry camera covering most situations.Very sharp photos and I like the in camera program giving endless possibilities..Been using this camera for about a month now with no problems and I keep it with me most of the time.

This is an excellent camera! It is very well built and quite durable. When you change lenses, you don't have to worry about dust to the same extent you would with a lower grade model.With this you get a bird's eye view at any level. Your photos will come out sharp and clear regardless of lighting. You can work with your camera and adapt yourself to it and the enviornment in which you are photographing.Another really good feature is that you can work with your filter and have control over the flash. In fact, you don't really need your external flash. While you are paying a lot for this camera, you are getting plenty of bang for your buck. I think you will be pleased with the quality of your photographs..

When I take three shots in a row, it takes eight seconds for the first image to show up on the screen. This takes less than a second on my old 12Mp D90 or my friends D7000 -- same memory cards (all class 10), same lenses, same everything else. Since I usually check the back of the camera to see if the shot turned out, this extra wait time is a deal-killer. I missed the cut-off to return this D7100 to Amazon, so I sent it in to Nikon for a warranty repair. Unfortunately, Nikon doesn't see this as a problem.Why two stars instead of one? The low-level of noise in nighttime shots is excellent! I still regret buying this camera, though. I recommend that you avoid it.

Using this with my 2 existing dx lenses: 35mm f1.8 and 18-200 VR. This new camera is great. Amazing dynamic range and autofocus system is great. Perfect for photos of the kids in action. Using this with eyefi pro card.

I purchased this to replace my Canon 7D. Considering this is newer and has the OLPF removed, I expected better quality. What I got instead was a generic DSLR camera. Yes it shoots nice photos but so do $500 DSLRs littering the market. I have no idea why this camera has been hyped to the max. My 7D shot incredible magazine quality photos, straight out of the box, on full auto. This camera can't even match the quality of the 7D, forget about surpassing it. I really wanted to switch over to Nikon but all that counts ultimately is image quality and this camera is just another one in the bunch. Nothing stands out. You can see some sample images I uploaded. They are point and shoot jpg's without any processing or filters. You can see that it's a basic DSLR camera. Why does it cost so much? Unjustified price for this level of performance. Lame.I gave it two stars instead of one because it does have some technical "wows" such as megapixel count, shots per second, etc. etc. but why does that matter when the picture itself is generic quality you can get in a cheap DSLR? When you look at a picture, do you ask "Wow! I wonder how many shots per second were used or the exact f-stop setting to capture this image?" No. You either like the photo or you don't. I don't like what I see from the images from this camera. Not at this price.

Everything you could want in a current technology DX-format DSLR. The 24 Mpixel sensor is outstanding. To get the most out of this camera, you need to know what you are doing. If you are an experienced photographer, this camera can do pretty much anything you might want to do. If you want a point-and-shoot DSLR, this camera is perhaps not for you--it is aimed at knowledgable enthusiasts.The sensor, metering, and autofocus technology has come a long way from the D100 which it replaced. To get the most out of the sensor, you will need good glass, not the bottom-end kit lenses, although even with the bottom-end Nikon lenses you will be able to make terrific images with this camera. My D100 lens collection works just fine on this camera, thanks to camera AF drive. So you can use both older screw-type AF lenses or the more modern AFS lenses.The D3200 or D5200 uses the same sensor if you don't need all the pro features and 51-point AF. (I got along with a single point or 5-point D100 for 10 years.). But if you want the best of the best in the DX line, this is it for now (May 2013).

I am so glad I decided to go back to Nikon and bought this awsome camera, with ONE fantastic lens, the 18-140 mm that came to be VERY GOOD. I do recommend body and 18-140 mm lens not the 55-300 mm, better save some money to buy 18-300 mm

since any new equipment sent to Nikon for a warranty repair, they'll hold onto the unit with zillions excuses, just to ensure that return period expires.And, when they return an item to customer, they never notify the receiver, nor will sent it back with "signature required" option. If it's lost in transportation or some unwanted bystanders in a neighborhood picking up someone else's property, Nikon will undoubtedly deny its responsibility with their cocky Japanese attitude, "everything is well within Nikon's 100+ year old tradition of screwing our customers, in Yakuza style.Why spend so much money on this over-hyped, over-priced gadget, when there are plenty unsold units of previous model (I wonder why there is always so much unsold inventory of Nikon gears in the used market place), new but rebadged as refurbished D7000 for less than half? Of course, we can all count on the first-class Nikon repair service; item always come back worse than when it was sent to them.

I have had a Nikon D80 for some time and bought a D7000 prior to taking a vacation knowing that a newer model was soon to follow (7100). I was very happy with the pictures but disappointed in the video of the 7000. When I returned I returned the 7000 and ordered the 7100 on Amazon.I've had the 7100 for awhile now and can tell you that I'm very pleased, major upgrade over D80. Picture quality is much improved and it has a lot more options. The low light and ISO performance out of this camera is fantastic.Pros: Nice camera for the price. Great pictures out of this camera with just about any lense. Movies are much better quality than D7000. I love the 1.3x crop effect as I shoot a lot of sports. Perfect size. A lot of camera and options for the amateur photographer.Cons: I struggle with some of the auto focus. Not sure if I already owned a 7000 I would of taken the plunge to replace.If your in the market for a new DSLR and a Nikon..l.this would seem to be an easy choice.

My D200 was getting stale and I needed more functionality. This camera works flawlessly and I could not be happier. Well... I suppose it could use the same batteries and remote devices as the D200 and then it would be perfect. But such is the price of progress! :)

I was hesitant to purchase the D7100 because I have taken so many wonderful shots with my D80. Some of the great features are: you can program more buttons to custom settings and create and retrieve two user custom settings with the turn of a dial. 24 MP is an unbelievable picture but I must say the D80 also produced an excellent picture. I have not taken any video, but I'm sure I will not be disappointed when I do. The VR feature on the 18 - 140mm lens also works quite well. You can not go wrong with NIKON!!!

Seeing there are already a ton of technical reviews, I'll just say that this upgrade from a Nikon D5000 was an outstanding choice for me. As a novice photographer, I really appreciate the ability to quickly change shutter, aperture, ISO, image quality, focus mode, etc using simple button/dial combinations. It's so much faster to get what I want, when I want vs. having to drill down into a menu system and losing the moment I was chasing. It's like having keyboard shortcuts for camera modes!Needless to say, the images produced are superb. You can find all the techie stuff in other reviews, but the ability to take shots instantly, re-configure the camera quickly and other options many folks won't use make this a camera a gem. An added bonus is the quick help '?' that provides brief descriptions on modes / selections that aren't intuitive. I feel I'll be using this camera for a long time!!

I sold mine D90 body and upgraded to N7100. It was listed as $1100 just the body, but finally i got it for $799 with some free extras. Thanks for the lighting deal from Amazon. Took some sample shots with this and i must say, before i move on to my full frame, this would really be a nice addition.

Well I will not talking about how good or bad I'll just talking about how mush i like it or not that's it.It working great for this camera but i do not know why the photo came out of this D7100 look a little green+yellow around the face and body when you shoot peoples.And the 1.3x crop suck, It was not crop in the viewfinder you still see in full 100% viewfinder.When I shot my kids using it always cut off my kids head in half and foot cut off. You have to shoot in the 1.3x box when you using crop 1.3x. Other than these two sucker things I love it. got this to upgrade my old D5100 my D5100 give me no problem at all.If I found any other thing that I do not like or like I'll update my review!Any Question free to ask!

I finally received my camera on 3-19 after pre-ordering it from Amazon on 2-24. I am not a professional photographer but I have a good understanding of the principles of photography. I usually shoot sporting events such as triathlons and other running races. I am upgrading from a D5100 so the first thing I noticed is that this camera fills up your hand a lot more than my other camera. It has a lot of new buttons on it so if you're upgrading from a lower end camera you will need to study the book and be checking YouTube for any videos that might come out. If you already have a higher end camera you will be familiar with all the buttons that are there.I took a few shots of the living room sitting on the couch and the first thing I noticed is that the focus does seem to hunt around a little. Nothing is moving but the focus points do move around a lot. I almost feel that the 51 point AF is too many for my shooting style. There is an option in the menu to switch it to 11 point but when I shot runners with my 5100 I usually used single point focus and felt very comfortable with it.Overall, I really like this camera and it's feel and layout. I will need some time to get familiar with the new buttons and then I'll be back with some updates.

I care not if it is Nikon or adobe who holds up the ability to open a file without the stupid NEF conversion. they both suck for putting their customers in those situations, Welcome to 4 years ago.I already had to take it to a place to get the sensor cleaned. All of the spot stories are true.Once you get past all of that is a great rig. I am not yet seeing all of the Moray I have been hearing about but I haven't successfully been using it long.I gave it a bad review to warn anyone who needs the straight to adobe aspect a heads up. Capture One Pro version 7.1.4 works and I am grateful.

So far, it is a great DSLR. I need to learn more about all the functions, and I'm using it as a really nice point and shoot. I love the lens, and I really like that this lens has metal mounting flanges. I just hope it all proves to be sturdy and reliable.

With 24.1 MP and two SD card slots I can shoot pictures forever. Still learning all the features of this camera. This was an upgrade from my D5000 and well worth the $$.Video mode is easy and the continual auto focus makes movie taking easy. Also features two shooting modes of DX and 1.3. Recommend buying one of the popular books by professionals all about this particular camera instead of trying to stumble through the manual that comes with it.

This is another great product from the Nikon. I am not a professional photographer but I use it for my hobby. The camera is fantastic with so many customization options. A learning curve is required but effects can speak for themselves. Lastly, I am not sure how, but the sharpness of this camera is beyond anything I ever saw.

WOW, try one, rent one and check it out. I have a D7000 that I totally love, couldn't believe this would be such an improvement but it is! Same lens, sharper pictures, Instantly. Better then the D600 at much less $$ in my opinion. Try one you'll see!

In one word, all that I can say is that this is AWESOME. Being my first digital SLR, I have not made a bad decision. It produces some great pictures with a lot of easy to use functional components (without having to get into the menu). The menu system that this camera comes with is not the best (but I think it's pretty decent). I have used Canon systems before (to give Canon some credit, it was a couple generations old and about an entry level camera) you had to go to the menu to get a lot done; not the case with the D7100, however the Canon menu system seemed a lot more user friendly. Not a big deal, a couple of thousand shutters later, I have learnt a good deal to be able to get good pictures from this camera.The camera feels solid in your hand (I have large sausage fingers, but it's still works great) -- The front doesn't feel as good when you're holding to take some photos, but if you're just holding the camera, it feels perfect.Overall such a great product, I would recommend this to anyone who is serious about getting into photography, yes, even if it is weekend photography at your friend's place.

I have a D90, and I use it for almost 5 years, and took 60K photos.I love my D90, and but I wanted un upgrade.The D7100 is the same D90, but with a better autofocus system. otherwise, it take the same photos.The D7100 is bigger and heavier, than D90, due the wheather protection. The autofocus 51 point is amazing, and very very fast.However the D90 has nothing to lost compare to the D7100, both cameras are amazyng.Best regards, German from Argentina.

Pictures from Nikon D7100 are ... beautiful. They are very sharp in details even in low light. Anyway, there may be enough posts of positive things about Nikon D7100. This post is about unusual something seen in Nikon D7100's RAW images ...1. RAW images were always captured at 12-bit (lossless compressed RAW 12-bit) even though the camera was set at lossless compressed 14-bit2. RAW image's size was always at 1620x1080 @12-bit no matter which Image Quality option was chosen (NEF+JPEG fine, NEF+JPEG normal, NEF+JPEG basic, NEF)3. JPEG images were recorded at 6000x4000 @8-bit (Large)I used latest Nikon Capture NX2 version 2.4.1 and Nikon View NX2 version 2.0.2RAW images from Nikon D7000 were reported correctly using these same Nikon Capture/View NX2 software. In other words, D7000's raw images were properly recorded at 4928x3264 (L), lossless compressed RAW 14-bitHave anyone seen/had this problem with Nikon D7100?I wonder if my D7100 were a defected one. I bought mine brand new from local Best Buy store.Besides these weird issues (and I hope I can get answers/solution soon), I love this new camera, and I strongly recommend it to everyone

Best cam for price, good option for people looking to purchase D610... due to lense options. Can't get better camera than D7100 for this price. D610 too expensive when it comes to lense, can't use a lot of lenses that you can use on this one. with 24 MP close to quality of D610.Only Con.. can't figure how to control AF by Red dots/area...

Just came back from a 2 week photo journey using this camera all day - it meets or exceeds my expectations in every way. But, most importantly of all (and admittedly subjectively), the sharpness and clarity of the photos seem to exceed any of my previous dSLRs (D2X, D300, D7000) - maybe it's the removal of the anti-aliasing filter, maybe it's the 24 MP, (although I'd like to say it's my technique (not)), but the image quality just is mind blowing. The focusing is faster than the others-I guess due to Expeed 3. The menu system is similar to the D7000: so customizable, it will suit virtually anyone's needs. My only minor complaint is that, with the larger files sizes, the camera's buffer fills after 3 quick shots (in RAW) and one must wait (momentarily) for the camera to write to the card. (I've ordered and await the fastest possible cards and I advise this for all-they're pricey). The 1080 p 30 fps video is stunning. I highly recommend this camera - it's the best one I've ever used by far.
