Bells and whistles is an understatement for this baby. I love it. I am a photographer and wanted to upgrade my D5100 which I love and have taken some amazing pictures with.... I have my first shoot with this camera tomorrow and I can't wait. Its much heavier than the D5100 and the sample picture I took today are a richer creamer colour and crisp looking. The vibrant colour looks even more professional than that of the D5100. Love that it also has two slots for memory cards. Want to shoot video as well. This is going to bring me many more jobs. Yayyyy Praise God.

I came from a D3100 so this is a huge step and upgrade for me, so in my point of view everything about this camera is awesome. I like how a lot of the settings are outside and not buried in the menus. I barely had it 2 weeks but as I get more exp I can add to this later on.

I am upgrading from a D90. I loved my D90 but the D7100 is even greater. Although I am still getting used to new button positions the camera feels great in my hands and the resolution is fantastic. The higher resolution makes cropped photos come out great since the resolution is still high even after cropping.

I am a recent Sony shooter and have owned the following Sony DSLRs:1. Sony A3302. Sony A3903. Sony A5504. Sony A580In reviewing the specs sheet for the new Nikon D7100, I became really excited. I decided to make the change and sold all of my Sony/Minolta gear and made the the switch to Nikon. On the first day of ownership, image# DSC 0001, I noticed that the focus was soft. I took a few more shots and noticed the same thing. I had previously purchased a 35mm 1.8G lens, and based on all of the great reviews related to the sharpness of this lens, I could not understand why I was getting soft images. My love for the D7100 led me to believe that it was a lens or settings issue, so I ordered another lens 55-300mm VR II, and attacked YouTube for settings that were suppose to help with focusing issues. After all of this, the camera was still providing soft images. After being very discouraged and questioning my decision to leave Sony for Nikon, I finally decided to exchange it for a different body. I am happy to report that focus is now tack sharp with both lenses that I own. This is a truly remarkable piece of engineering and is a major step up from what I previously owned.If you are on the fence about the D7100, make the leap and purchase. However, if you notice any problems with focus, do not hesitate to exchange it for a properly functioning body.Happy Shooting!!!

Compare to NIKON D3100 and now being using a D7100 is like going from a Fiat 500 to a Cadillac, haven't had lots of time to do Photos since i got it, but up coming Hummingbird and Bird migration here in AZ in August and fall I expect to get a lots of good use off it.

Robust camera with all the detail and functions in the proper place. Will be used for all family events and more. Don't know how we lived without this camera. Combined with a 35mm 1.8 lens, it's great for general purpose photography. Dual memory slot is a feature I like. Also to download pics to my laptop with a dongle accessory is amazing. Freeing up space on the card for future use. Great feature. Great camera

First of all I did not get my Unit from Amazon.When the shopkeeper handed me the Nikon D7100 body I made sure that I got the unit with clean sensor; I snapped my 35mm f1.8G (bought from Amazon)& took few shots of blue sky @ F22 & Lucky enough to have a good perfectly clean sensor, I will be responsible for any ingress of foriegn material to the sensor.Handling is pretty much similar to my former pet; my D7000, few controls were added but I get used to it in no time.Two things that I appreciate after 2 weeks of intermittent test:1. Adding lock on the Mode dial - prevents from accidental change in the setting.2. 51 Points AF system - Improved focusingI dont care much on the low buffer capacity as I am seldom shooting continuously, I havent tested yet the video capability because I am not a big fan of DSLR video with audible sound of lens auto focusing, maybe external mic will improve it, but for the time being I will let my son to take video with his iPhone.I am very plesed with image quality, color rendition and the sharpness although some factors are attributed to the lens, and of course to shooter. There is also significant improvement in Low Light shooting I can produce good acceptable image @ ISO 3200 cleaner than what the D7K is producing.I did not regret my decision to sell my D7K with kit lens and add small amount to have this body. Five star for me does not mean it is a perfect camera, I am satisfied with it as per my shoting requirements and style as advanced enthusiast. I dont mind the other shortcomings of this machine as long as it is not affecting me directly.

I bought this for my wife as a gift. She is still learning everything it can do, but is very happy with it. It takes very good quality pictures and video. She has taken over 1200 pictures with many of them taken while she was moving. I think over 95% of them have turned out great with only a few being fuzzy.

I upgraded from an 8 year old 6 mp good DSLR. this camera is everything I need paired with Nikon 18-300mm zoom lens and 10-24mm wide angle lens. Outstanding picture quality and excellent high ISO performance. Available user programmable modes allow for switching settings on the fly. For me this is an outstanding camera for me at a fairly reasonable price. Love this camera.

best images I have every seen from a DX format camera WOW. I have a D4 and a D300 and a D80 to be honest this camera shoots better than the D80 by 100x and the D300 hands down and has just about the same functionality. It is 1500-2k cheaper than my D4 but unless you are taking Fine art photography I do not think you could really tell the difference without a microscope. Best camera for the money I have ever owned

I've held out for a year, and if you count the time I've held out on the D7000, make it 3 years. Honestly, the money was the only reason an non-pro like myself would shy away from a stellar toy like this. Mainly I bought it for the larger body size, the lens selection, and the programmable menus. I have Nikon glass, and shoot things that move far away. This camera works well for that.There are a million reviews on the D7100. Just decide if the features it offers are what you are looking for.I still await a replacement for the D300s. This isn't it.

The camera came intact. I was a little scared because it was the first time when I bought a product from the used department, plus it was a big amount of money spent on this camera. But I am very satisfied with it. I play with it all day long. Is very sharp with many features as I was expected. It works very well.

The Nikon D7100 is the best DX camera ever released, and while that's a bold statement my time spent with the D7100 proves this.Many cameras like the D800 and the D4 have the ability to perform into 1.5x crop mode. The D800 will give you 15 megapixels out of 1.5x crop, where as the D4 will give you 12 megapixels at one 1.5x crop. The D7100 is already a 1.5x times crop and is 24 megapixels. Not only that but when you go into 1.3x crop mode on this camera it will give you an effective focal range of 1.9x crop.What this means is on a D800E if you have a 70-200mm lens your focal range would be 300mm at 15 megapixels, with the D4 you would have 300mm at 12.1 megapixels. With the D 7100 you would have 400mm at 16.2 megapixels. Just giving you much better detail for long reach and I have done numerous comparisons the D800E cannot compete with the D7100 when it comes to long reach and cropping.For the price this is unheard up, this camera outperforms it's price tag two times over. It has 51 autofocus points and believe me this thing is not shy to focus.I have compared this camera to the D600 which is almost double in price, and this D7100 focuses faster. I have so many good things to say about his camera that I cannot say anything.So I will just say that it is he best buy I made in years.I'm really happy with myself taking the decision to invest in this camera.I can do everything I want with this, but I think that the words that define this camera are: Quality, Professional and Freedom.I recommend it.

This is a perfect camera if you do not want to lug around a full frame $6000.00 camera! Fast shutter speeds. Semi lite. Images are so sharp you almost have to blur them slightly! The ISO is great up to about 1600 indoors. I was shooting a 50mm 1.8 so it is a fast lens with a fast camera. Awesome! One last thing. Have you ever pressed your shutter button and it seemed like forever for the camera to focus... Not with this bad boy. You press the button, the AF reaches out and grabs your subject so fast it seems almost impossible. Great Camera!

this is my fourth Nikon. just upgraded from a D7000 which is still have as my backup that i have a 50mm f/1.8 AF-S lens on. I have had this camera less then a month and have entered two photo contest. the first contest is a Juried contest i had two out of three photo excepted and my second contest was the county fair last weekend.. i won two first place ribbons and one second place ribbons all shot with this camera. the one photo i loved the most was the Fourth of July fireworks. I had the D7100 on a tripod with my 18 -300 mm lens set to manual focus, F11, ISO 100 and " Bulb " i used my wireless remote to control the shutter to eliminate any shake. every shot was time lapsed. i tried different times 6 seconds, 8 seconds, 12 seconds and a few at about 20 seconds. Every shot came out PERFECT, i won a first place blue ribbon with one of the ten second shots. i wish i could post one of them here just so you could see how these came out, the background is totally noise free just pure black. i had no problem with the D7000 this camera replaced. i just want a few more feature and the 24 megapx is a little bigger photo. This Nikon exceeds my expectations.

I will be honest and give it 4 stars instead of 5 because I just got my camera on March 24th and I give it 4 stars for the test shots that I have made and getting to know how the camera works. I tested my kit lenses of 18-55mm and55-200mm. I am well pleased with the images and they are better than the Nikon D5100. I briefly got the chance to evaluate all photos in CS 5. When I took test shots on my 50mm f1.8, of course they were sharper. I will have to do some more testing tomorrow so I can post them. Since it is still winter (groundhog got it wrong) colors will look mundane so I will try my best for some decent shots.Auto focus extremely fast. It is one of the things I like about the camera. I took test shots of planes flying overhead and in standard auto focus, not the tracking auto focus, the camera tracked the airplane from a good distance and also on approach.If you own the Nikon D5100, the menu is similar and the camera is very easy to set up.As far as in other reviews where people have said they don't like where the buttons are set up, I cannot relate, but where the buttons are, just fine for me.One interesting thing that I liked about the camera is that is has an additional 1.3 crop which can be set up in the camera menu. This 1.3 crop actually zooms in on the subject/object without myself adjusting the lens. Would be great for sports and event photography which is what I want to get into.Camera is a good buy. Sometimes to make money, have to invest money. Camera is worth the investment. I will try to post images later. Cheers.

I simply love it. This is my second Nikon DSLR. My first being a D3100. I am an amateur but enjoying all the features of this camera. I couldn't get into all the details because well, I don't understand them yet. But what I can tell you is this camera takes amazing pictures and I am super excited to learn more and more about all the amazing features of this camera. It also arrived from the seller weeks before the date expected so that made my day. Good luck to all those that buy this awesome Camera.

What can you say about Nikon that is not already known to photographers that know its history.The only thing I can add is, the disk that comes with the camera is a meager 8, so, be prepared to spend another $100 for the 64 disk, or more if you want the 90.

This is my first DSLR camera. I figured if I was gonna get a good one I better get a REALLY good one. I have no regrets of any kind. This baby is flawless! I even got a few decent lenses. Some of the kits out there are really nice and have tons of attachments that are a bit harder to find on their own. I have taken a few shots of random things and a old Hindu temple with it and my lack of experience so far does not seem to show thru. The pix were gorgeous. If i figure out how to upload some on amazon I will >.<

Not quite a month in to owning this camera, have just shot my first wedding and found it to be a champ. Still love my D90, good to have old reliable around as a back up to this newer technology. Will report back after a few more outings.

It has so many characteristics! Great images, very good pics'quality. It only needs a little more of creativity for my photographies, ha!

This is and excellent camera, but I would not recommend it to someone who has never owned a DS before.

I had a D5000 for about 3 years, I had about pushed the limits of that camera so I decided to upgrade to the D7100. The sharpness, clarity and controls are amazing. Everything about this camera is better than I had hoped. It took a few days of tinkering and actually opening the manual to try and learn stuff. I will say the manual that came with it is junk, not really helpful at all. I got Ken Rockwell's guide to the D7000 (he has not released his guide to the D7100 yet) and it was a ton of help. After a few hours of looking at that and tinkering with the camera I was out and shooting.
