Love, love love it! Def need 32GB SD card to do video and pics. Seems to be better when you use the viewfinder instead of the screen for still pics. I use it all the time! I was between this one and the D7000 and the differences weren't worth the price difference.

Great price compared to the quality of the results. I know nothing about photography, but I am already taking amazing shots!

I have had a little bit of time to use this camera now and I absolutely love it. I upgraded from the d3000 and its definitely worth the upgrade. I haven't had a chance to delve into the video modes yet however I am loving the features it offers. The flip out screen is fantastic and I like how it flips out the side so it's not in the way.The picture quality is exceptional, even though I have only had it a little while I have only scratched the surface as far as what this camera can do.

I progressed through a series of point and shoot cameras starting back in 2003 and was happy with their results. Until, that is, I went to a photography workshop directed to DSLR users where I translated the language of my film camera days to the language of modern image technology. During the workshop I made a list of features that I wanted and started looking, finally selecting the Nikon D5100 after a couple of weeks learning what the market offered. The Nikon D5100 was a good choice.The Nikon D5100 takes some study and the features require practice to master. For an old man (60), I am a hi-tech guy capable of learning fast and understanding technical manuals. It has taken time and effort to get the images I want, primarily landscapes, buildings, locomotives, and oil well pumpjacks. I am still not satisfied because I know this camera can deliver much more than my present skill level demands. However, I know it has the capabilities to meet my needs as an amateur as my skills expand.

Easy to use and very nice picture it takes ! Very manageable to go from one process to another. Superb !

I have had this camera since last October and it produces great photos indoors, outdoors and in low light, provided you upgrade lens beyond the kit. It is lightweight and reasonably easy to carry around. If you invest in better lenses, you will notice the weight of those more than the camera itself. Controls are not difficult get at and if you are really new at this, auto mode works well under most circumstances and still gives great photos.If you use this to make videos, I would suggest getting an external microphone to avoid recording lens noise from autofocusing. Even if you are manually focusing video, you can get some noise from turning the dial on your lens. Other than that, there isn't much to complain about with this camera. There is a reason why it has been #1 in sales on Amazon for a while now.

I bought this because I wanted to get better at taking photographs. the picture quality is great. lots of detail; and it has many presets that will help a lot.

It is a versatile camera with many features and a good price value. They take great pictures even in low light and the quality of your videos is excellent.

This is a great camera. Like anything else of this nature, there are so many features to learn and how to use them, so it may take a bit to get used to it. Takes great pictures and videos.

i made i great decision when i decided to buy this camera,am loving it so much the picture quality is soo o clean, not to mention the video quality, i used this camera to shoot budget music video,and the quality is very great, i definately would buy again

Not very user friendly , took a little use to get familiar with functions and very easy to inadvertently delete pictures. Other than that it takes great pictures.

I bought one for my father he loves it. And now this one is for me, I like it very much, great camera.

Has the perfect quality picture and easy to understand interface. But would have loved if the grip for cam would be a little bigger .

I've had this camera for almost a year. No problems what so ever. The picture quality is great however there is a bit of a learning curve at the beginning. I purchased the Nikon D5100 because it takes HD video at 1080i. I will say this the video does come out a bit choppy from time to time. Another reason for this purchase was to take quality pictures of my baby girl who is almost 1 year old. If you are looking for a solid camera that is not to expensive buy with confidence. One thing to point out I only purchased the body not the lens that came with it. Currently I have a Nikkor AF-S 50mm 1:1.4G mm for portraits which takes awesome pictures and a Nikkor AF-S 18-200mm 1:3.5-5.6G II ED telephoto lens which I use 80% of the time plus the SB700 flash. Trust me the flash makes a huge difference.

Beautiful camera that gives wonderful detailed photographs, far more detail than the typical consumer level camera. This camera has the same sensor and processor as it's big brother the D7000. I strongly recommend this if you want your photography to go to a "next level" but without the serious cost of a full frame Nikon.
