The camera came quickly and every piece was wrapped. We were very impressed. The camera was for our son who went to Tanzania with his grandmother over Christmas. He knows a lot about cameras and was excited with his gift. Thank you.

I picked this after doing a ton of research (Ken Rockwell's site speaks very favorably about it, for one) and I couldn't be happier with it! The lack of noise is acceptable even at the highest ISOs. Very user friendly interface, even for me switching over from the Canon I had previously.

This my first really good camera and I am loving learning how to take to better pictures ! I have to take a lot of sport pics and its great ! Can't wait to get the bigger lens.

researched Nikon DSLR's and have bought one at another store. this one is better and better price.can't go wrong with Nikon brand. always great and reliable product. best camera's out there.

Works great. Really easy to use. Takes great pictures. Love that I can use my lenses from my 35mm with this camera. Would recommend it highly.

After a year of taking crappy pictures of the kids with a pocket digital, where shutter lag made me crazy, I am so glad I finally spent the money and got this camera. It actually takes the photo when I press the button! I was able to get great action shots of my son at the bike rodeo, using my 55-200 lens, and they are wonderful! The standard lens that comes with it (18-55) works fine for photos around the house and outside.

I bought this for my daughter for her high school graduation, and wanted to wait until she had it awhile before I left a review.I have to say that she is VERY pleased with this camera -- it is easy to operate and gives very good, professional quality photos, in my opinion. She is now a student at a prestigious art college and uses it a lot; her professor and other students have admired it and also feel that she made a good choice.Would definitely recommend. Also got an extra lens and a very nice case for it, which I recommend as well especially if this is to be a gift. An expensive camera like this needs to be protected. :)Update July 2013: My daughter has now owned this camera for slightly more than one year, and it will no longer charge. There's no telling if it's the battery, the batter charger, or the camera itself; but after paying $1000 (by the time we added accessories) and being told this would be the last camera I'd ever need to buy, I'm VERY disappointed. Especially in Nikon! I called them, and they could have cared less. They flatly stated that the one-year warranty has expired, but that the battery wasn't covered under the warranty anyway. Their suggestion: send the whole thing back for a repair estimate, or purchase a new battery, end of story. Not even an apology (although they did send me a feedback form, which I intend to fill out and return). They spent more time collecting my personal information on the phone call then they did with suggestions on what to do.I think this is yet another example of a good name brand letting their quality go downhill. Sign of the times, I'm afraid.Now wish I had purchased the Canon.

The lenses, the camera, battery charger, usb cable,;everything comes well packed and new. I'm pleased, and I get this camera in just $430! New! I'm very hapy!

the camera is good, the pictures stay wonderful.The only problem is that the battery does not last one day and ends quickly when recording vídeos.

I recently purchased this as a a gift for my wife (and also because I wanted it, hehe). It's a great buy for the price, and also is a good camera to start with if you are an amateur photographer like I am. Easy to use, and learning to play with the settings is pretty cool once you realize you can't really mess things up (permanently, anyway). My brother takes a lot of prfessional photos, so he has been a huge help learning with this. It arrived in good condition wth the battery already charged, so it was pretty much ready to go out of the box. For sure would reccommend it for someone looking to get into taking pictures as a hobby or for family photos.

Even though I am only a beginner, every picture I take with this camera looks much better than previous pictures I took with a regular camera.

Bought this camera for my wife for Christmas. She absolutely loves it. Was going back and forth between this camera and a Canon. Glad I went with this one.

Let's get the standard disclaimer out of the way first. I have only had this camera for a month or so. I got for my wife for a Valentines Day gift but I have used it 90% of the time!! Ya gotta love it.OOTB box it seemed complicated for someone used to basic digital cameras. Lots of buttons and jargon that I only partially understand. But after 15 minutes or so without looking at the manual, I could do basic operations without a problem. Things really took off after I read the getting started manual. I spent about an hour or so going through that. That was well worth the time.The camera is really fantastic. The shutter speed is just fantastic. None of that annoying wait time for the camera to adjust. It just takes the picture when you want it to. It is not too heavy. It feels right in your hands. The picture quality is amazing. I have put the pictures I have taken so far and put them on dropbox and everyone loves the pictures.I really recommend this camera. It does all of the basic things great and I think that it will grow with me as I get better at photography. I can't wait to explore further!!

Just learning all the capabilities beyond the"auto" setting. Allows for flexibility under all lighting conditions. And "scene", Autumn colors, selection is producing some incredible reds and yellows. Timing of purchase was perfect. Have previously owned Nikon digital and print cameras and have a comfort level in the commands. The lens interchangeability was important to me.

The Nikon D5100 is an excellent, quality camera. It is user-friendly and perfect for first-time DSLR users! And best of all, the photos turn out amazing!

Best DSLR to begin...It's stunning... I have no feeling of being amateur...The battery life in live mode is poor, but that's something I rarely use...Get a fast SD card... good lens and you are ready to shooooot...!!!It's simple, it's NIkon... ;)

This camera is replacing an older D series Canon and one word "WOW". This is not latest, but so far we love it.

The D5100 is my first DSLR. After exhaustive research to determine the perfect camera for me, I found a mid-level DSLR at an entry-level price!This camera will more than meet the needs of everyone but the uber-professionals (full-frame landscape shooters and 8 shots/second Sports speedsters).....and even then I guarantee those top photogs could take this camera and deliver a magazine cover with it.It takes beautiful photos....period! As every expert will tell you, the only thing keeping you from getting gorgeous photos from this camera, will be you. I highly recommend checking out some photography books at the library and using the manual to learn the ins and outs of this little powerhouse camera. It works amazing out of the box on the auto setting, but you can really maximize your shots and eliminate any need for fixing and color-correcting pics in photoshop, by learning about apertures, shutter speeds, and white balance. The 18-55mm lens is the perfect all-around lens for general shooting purposes (can't believe it comes with the camera body for this price)It earned it's 5 star rating by being everything it claimed to be and at a price (<$600) you cannot beat.Likes: Gorgeous photos. Price tag.Dislikes: None. I'm just impatient to get the 35mm f1.8 lens for low-light and a nice telephoto lens for football season.Highly recommend for: Everyone, particularly folks looking to get their first DSLR. Would make an unforgettable Christmas gift!

The d5100 is a great camera, weighs a bit but worth it for those who like photography. The sharpness and focus are good

the Camera is very good but i had a problem in the eye-viewer, there is allot of dust inside the eye-viewer, it's not affecting the picture but it's not good to see dust inside.
