Haastavariohn haalaaveen!!!This is an entry-level DSLR camera. Most men who will use this camera are probably not very interested in all the features it contains. Which is actually its biggest drawback. It has too many of these extra features. There is simply no reason to have 4 types of zoom and different types of zoom-areas and 7 colour-filters and vibration-control mechanism in the lens. For example, the camera works splendidly and takes good photos even while walking briskly or in an automobile. Why have the vibration control in the lens? That money would be much better spent on getting a bigger sensor in the camera and making the pictures even better. 35-mm cameras worked very well with only their aperture, film speed and shutter control and with a bit of practise, a photographer could get any type of picture he wanted.

Nikon iconic name right price for entry level camera. Lots of features good bang for the buck.With smart phones getting camera upgrades almost monthly the SLR may seem dated to manynot so fast SLR is more then just photo quality its the fit of the camera in ones hands. The lens optionsto choose from and so much more.

It is an incredibly camera and we love it. Note the purchase of a storage memory card was additional and it does not include a camera case. You will love this camera.

This is one of the best 'purchase decisions' that I have ever made.I purchased the camera to be able to design my book covers for e-books.This camera has gone above and beyond the call of duty.I was a novice with photography, and this was a great piece of equipment for 'Point and shoot' beginners.The camera has been a joy to work with: from the day that I removed it from the box.Let's just say: that it has grown with me; as I have grown in my knowledge of photography.

It's a great camera for introducing into the professional world of the Reflex cameras. It has the necessary accessories to take high quality pictures into a different scenes and different way of targets. You could change the lens with another Nikon profesional lenses.

Very good pictures, the stability is very good even though with 200 zoom lens.Nikon D3100 has easy menus to perzonalize the camera options for high quality pictures.

My first SLR camera that is not a 'point & shoot'. This camera takes stunning photos when set on auto, I've taken 2000+ pictures at my kids sporting events in the last 5 weeks. I haven't had time to sit down and figure out all the bells and whistles(read manual settings) yet, but when I do, I'm sure it will warrant 5+ stars, I did a lot of shopping around looking for the best value for my money, and I do believe I found it here,

Nikon is the best, it never loses its value which is important with any investment. The quality of your tools make all the difference. Speaking as an owner of 2 Nikon SLR, host of lenses and a point and shoot. Nikon is the Caddy of cameras

For many years, I used a Nikon FG, which was a mid-level camera. Took great pictures if you knew what you were doing, but of course it was a film camera. Then came digital cameras. For the last 10 years, I was basically using point and shoot cameras, which were great for general landscapes. No longer being interested in standing in darkrooms inhaling photo processing chemicals, I opted for a digital SLR where I could do any further processing on the computer. As a birthday gift to myself, I got the Nikon D3100. Took it out the first few days and achieved less than thrilling results; my point & shoots gave me better pictures. So I took a look at the manual which helped only marginally. I don't think it was orginally written in English and may have lost some in the translation.Common sense told me that Nikon couldn't have put out a $500+ camera that only takes so-so pictures. I looked on Amazon and found 3 books written especially for this camera, and I bought one. Nikon D3100 Digital Field Guide. Going over just the first few chapters of this book made a huge difference. I'm now getting incredible images. My problem was that photography had progressed immensely while I was playing around with the point & shoots. This camera takes advantage of these new advances, plus it sounds like it's made a few advances of its own. It's a very sophisticated camera, but it's also initially complicated, and there is a learning curve. The book explains the camera in detail using plain English, and as a result I'm learning a lot about the camera and about digital photography in general, even though I thought I knew a lot.I am only now beginning to appreciate this camera. It provides you with an incredible amount of control, from very subtle to blatantly obvious. The display on the back of the camera provides technical information, easy to use menus, and allows you to zoom in on the images to make sure they are in focus and to check on exposure of details or shadows. The 18-55mm lens included in the kit is great except that the maximum aperature opening is 3.5 (I was used to 1.8 on my old Nikon). The auto focusing gives you many options, and when used correctly, the focusing is perfect and sharp. As with all autofocus lenses, the manual focusing is touchy and not at all like the old manual lenses, however, I've really not had much need to focus manually, so it's not much of an issue.Although it can be used as such, it's not a point & shoot camera, and therefore it is somewhat bulky. And unlike my old FG, it's mostly plastic. I think that's life nowdays; plastic is king. The neckstrap is kind of cheesy. The camera kit comes with a battery (I might get a second in case, but I'm surprised at how long it does last), and a plug-in charger. Included in the box is software for manipulating your pictures on the computer. I haven't installed this yet because I use Adobe Photoshop Elements 9 (Win/Mac), although at some point I may try it just for fun. There is also another disk which is an extended version of the printed manual; basically it suffers from the same problem as the printed one. What doesn't come with the camera is the USB cable, which I think stinks. Fortunately I had one from an old Palm Pilot that worked. The camera, by the way, does include 2 ferrite cores. I had to research what those were; they wrap around near one end of the USB cable to prevent interference when uploading your pictures. Considering using it because without it I kept getting uploading errors.I didn't plan on writing this much, but really there is much to say about this camera. Bottom line is that I really like it.

This item has been on the market for a while and is still going strong. That alone should tell you something if you're considering buying one. I bought this for my wife on her birthday (2 birthday's ago actually). She loves it, it takes great photos and still operates like brand new. If you need a more extensive review, there are plenty of them out there. Great SLR product, great SLR price.

The price was very good and affordable and receiving my items purchased was delivered quickly and packaging was also very good... The picture quality is fantastic and it is very user friendly. We own two of these cameras and are very happy with them.

For those of you who are just starting out in photography this is a great camera to start out with not to simple nor overly complicated.It takes wonderful shots.

I absolutely love this camera! It is so simple to use, but takes the best quality pictures I have seen. I would recommend this camera to people looking to start using DSLR Cameras.

I bought this camera in order to take better photos for my food blog, and HD videos for my media production class. It's honestly really difficult to take a bad photo with this camera! It's easy to use, has many great features, and is lightweight. It has a solid grip area and a sturdy feel. Just be careful with the strap, since mine came undone and the camera fell to the ground (luckily only a few inches, and it's fine).It takes good quality videos too. The only problem is that zooming isn't very smooth, and sometimes the sound of it gets picked up on the mic. Other than that, it's a fantastic camera for the price.

It's awesome!!! I don't think I'd pay for a better camera than this, as a college student, this is what I want. It's my first SLR camera and I love it, it's worth what I paid for it. I've had it for 3 weeks already and I'm enjoying it...

This camera does exactly what it says it is going to do and I have enjoyed learning to use it better.

Just received it today. Had the previous model for 3 years and was very happy with it. But I gave it away as a gift and bought the new model. This camera is so much smaller then the previous model even if it has added functions and capabilities. I'll have to come back on that as I get to use it. My dissapointment is with the stock lens which I know very well from my previous camera. This time the mechanical twist of the zoom lens is so harsh, not smooth at all like I was used to. It is too much friction in the lens plastic case. I am considering it defective and will likely return it for a replacement. Did anyone else noticed this ?
