It's everything I wanted & expected. You won't be disappointed. You don't need a photographer anymore. You are the photographer. Long use on the battery. Easy to learn and use. I highly recommend!

The basics--shooting and viewing photos--are simple...even my 6 year old grandson thinks he is mow a professional photographer! But the other features are awesome. I do not know what else anyone other than a true professional could possibly expect from this technologically advanced product.

Very disappointed with the Nikon D3100. I've had this camera for just 2 years, and while it takes great photos and is a great entry-level DSLR, I was heartbroken when it broke on me (specifically the shutter) at the very beginning of a 3-week trip to Asia. Having tried to fix it while on vacation, I read on various blogs that shutter issues are very common with this model. I would recommend doing some serious research before investing in this camera lest it becomes dead weight on a long trip.

I love this camera! It's my first DSLR, and it's all I was hoping for. The kit lens is a great intro lens, the camera is easy to use and Nikon's screen graphics are helpful and intuitive. It also includes lots of easy to use features with many smart modes, but also has all the manual modes that can be delved into once you get more serious with it. The quality is great, and I'll be using this camera for several years providing that Nikon has a great selection of lens that I can use on this camera.

This is my very first DSLR, and I'm in love with it. The photo quality is great, the menus are easily navigable, and it's just such an intuitive machine. Excellent build quality, shipped insanely quick. Absolutely no hiccups whatsoever. The only concern I have is that on the quick start paper, it says there is a lens hood included with the 18-55mm lens. I didn't see one in there.

Chose this camera as a gift, AS far as rating it, I cannot. It seemed to be a great choice from te reviews and the person who has received the camera, loves it and is so happy with it. It came in a reconditioned Nikon box, very well packed and shipped quickly.

Good for beginners and for some one who understands a camera enough to want some thing more. Great photo's and usability! I am just in love with it!

I received it earlier than it was expected and it was exactly what I asked for. I recommend it a lot!

I got a refurbished 3100 I arrived the battery charger was non functional. I looked closer and could see the case was slightly melted no wonder it did not work.I charged the battery at a friend's house and then started to use the camera. I was working fine takeing OK pics, not great but it is low end camera. Then It started... the auto focus would not function. I could get good picture with manual focus but the auto mode would hunt back and forth then stop at the worst point.I would stay way from this product, Nikon is not controlling their factory quality as they should. On line you can see they have major issues with the battery charger. The place I bought this camera from has many instock. Obviously the refurbed ones get passed though because of so many design problems.Stay away from this product.There there are so many good products in the APS-C to micro 4/3 sensors that will perform as good as or better than this camera and a resonable prices too..

Very possibly one of the worst camera's Ive ever owned. I had it for all of 3 days, used it for about 45 minutes and it just shut down. I tried re-charging the battery, it didnt work. I called Nikon and they refused to honor the warranty claiming the camera has been discontinued and is no longer supported.I returned it to where I bought it, and exchanged for another, only to meet the same exact problem. For the price, buy a Cannon

it's my first SLR camera and so far I love it, I keep wondering if I would be better with the D3200, but it was $100 more expensive.I got it with the 18x55 lens which I think is very good, but some time I need more zoom, I think I'll look for the 18x200 or 55x200

I bought the D3100 to replace my D-200 which had a glitch in its auto exposure logic and could no longer be repaired because of lack of parts support. I also own Cannon Power ShotSX260HS which I love for its compact size, light weight, sharp resolution, ease of use, and magnification power 20X. But it lacks the features of an SLR that I enjoyed with the Nikon D200, which originally cost over $2000, compared to under $500 for the D-3100. The performance is every bit as good as that of the D-200, and offers simpler, easier to use settings. I have not had a chance to use the D3100 much under variable conditions, but am very pleased so far for its lighter weight and compact size , higher megapixel count, ease of focusing and good sharp pictures.

Always wanted a good DLSR and got a great one at a great price. The settings wheel is easy to use and understand and helps take great pics in almost any setting. If I ever learn to set the settings manualy you can do that too. If you want to buy your first DLSR this the one!

complicated manual way too many options. Too much to carry with 2 lenses. pictures are good. would have preferred different zoom

My daughter has a great eye for taking amazing photographs. After using her Kodak easy share for a few years, we decided it was time to upgrade to a better camera to help with her nature photography. This is a great beginner camera, easy to use out of the box and still surprising her with all the features.

Don't need the latest and greatest or newest to get a good quality product. This nikon is fantastic in every way and I'd recommend it to anyone!!

We waited for years to get an SLR. I asked around and on Facebook and the Nikon was highly recommended. It takes great pics. and fairly easy to use. Anyone looking for an SLR check Amazon, the price could not be beat.

The really nice thing is that there are 2 really good lenses included - everything you need to get started.

This is my first DSLR, and I'm very good with this product.It hasn't mic input, that's a shame.It has a really good color depth and sharpness lens.

Although I have some background in photography, this is my first DSLR. I bought the Nikon D3100 for its excellent combination of photographic features (all the manual settings, lens possibilities, etc.) and HD video. So far (and its only been about one month) I have been very pleased with both. The camera is extremely user-friendly, and the images are stunning (all faults are operator error, I would say). It will take awhile to "master" it, of course, but so far, I am extremely pleased with the results, including video. Regarding video, this camera shoots beautiful full 1080 HD, but the built-in mic is weak. For short cinematic features you will definitely need your own sound system (which you would use anyway if you were making short cinematic features, right?). Perhaps the most surprising thing about the camera is its weight. This is the lightest of the DSLRs that I've experimented with, and it fits in my hand well. For its price point and quality, I highly recommend this "introductory" level DSLR camera.

It didn't come with the instruction manual or the neck strap. Not sure if seller stated that, but I could sure use the manual!
