This NetGear USB Wireless Adapter is better than advertised. Installation was super simple and it easily connects to our router. Have been using it for about a month with no issues. Actually getting a better speed with the adapter than what we got with a wired connection into the router. NetGear is the best!

I have never gotten this to work properly on Windows 7 Professional 64-bit. It always drops out, sometimes won't pick up any wireless networks (then suddenly will), and simply does not perform reliably or consistently. I have struggled with it for 3 months, and am finallythrowing it in the garbage and buying something that actually works well. Not recommended at all.

This item is a complete piece of crap. Not to mention, Netgear support is a complete scam. I had this thing installed for 3 months and it started losing the connection. I called Netgear and they made a 1 time exception to help me solve my problem. When that call ended, the adapter was working but the next day, it stopped working again. I called again and they told me that I need to pay them for further support!!! For an item that I owned for less than 6 months. What a scam. Other people have warned me against Netgear and now I know why. Buyer beware!

Following the instructions loading the software on to my HP Windows 7 laptop I waited until I got the box on the screen telling me to plug the adapter into a USB port then click "Find the Adapter". The software could NOT locate the adapter even though the blue light on the adapter was blinking. I tried this several times then removed the software and repeated the process two more times. Nothing! I e-mailed Tech Support and was told to install the driver from the HTML line the technician e-mailed. I did that and again tried to locate the adapter, again the computer could not fine the adapter even though the adapter blue light was on an Windows Explore showed the adapter there and functioning. After working with this for three hours installing and uninstalling software and drivers I gave up. I need to send this back to Amazon, there is no reason installation should be this difficult to impossible.

The v2 revision of this device has one huge flaw that I've seen over and over again. I typically put my computer in sleep mode when I'm not using it to cut down on power consumption. With this device attached to the computer the system will hard crash about 10% of the time when I click on the "sleep" button. After rebooting the machine I then have to unplug the network adapter, reinstall the drivers, plug the adapter back in, and then manually log back onto the network to get my connection up and running again. I've seen others complain about this very same problem on the Netgear forums. Netgear hasn't updated the drives in a good while. I'm starting to think they're never going to address this problem.

I bought this adapter a couple of months ago. Every time I put my Windows 7 (32-bit) computer on standby or when it goes to sleep, I get the infamous BSOD, and I have to re-install the driver software in order to connect to my network. Nowadays I just force the driver program to shut down before I switch off the computer, and then manually switch the driver program on to reconnect, the next time I switch on the computer. Quite a hassle, but better than re-installing the driver software on a daily basis!

I am using this with Windows 7 64 bit. It is connected to a Netgear router and is well within range. It disconnects randomly and slows the connection speed randomly. I have spent countless hours on the Internet looking for ways to fix this and nothing seems to work. When I execute the software that comes with it the software stops working within a second of being opened. The one thing I have found that fixes it about half the time is disconnecting the adapter from the USB port then reconnecting it, but it is only temporary, maybe five minutes. Its a great adapter when it works like it should but I can't get it to work consistently.

I have my DISH Network DVR box connected to my wifi with this adapter. I have to say this adapter has definitely met my expectations, since my bedroom (where the box is located) is on the 2nd floor and the router is located in the basement on the same side of the house. The signal is around 46/100, but the connection has never proven to be slow or affected by it in any way. I am always able to connect to my box & watch live tv on my phone via the Dish Network App, so even with the lower connection signal, my usage is just as perfect as I could have expected it to be. :-)

I have the WNDR3700 router and this device is a great addition. I employ WPA2 security and connecting to the network was a breeze. There is almost no loss of bandwidth between the modem through the router and on my PC. Have my devices split between the 2.4GHz and 5GHz band. Setup took about five minutes. installed the driver, popped in the device, entered the password, and was on the internet.

This adapter is nothing more than cheap stuff from China. I bought this on a Friday, and by Wednesday, I was calling Netgear for a replacement. The Adapter got so hot, it was burning my hand, and I thought that it would explode. When I called Netgear, none of the Indian reps could speak English, and when I finally got someone who could, they couldn't tell me if it was normal for the adapter to get super hot. I asked to speak to an American rep, but I was told that Netgear's customer service only works from India. Another example of why unemployment is so high in the USA and why its economy is falling. An American company, producing inferior products and services in China and India, and using their profits to live large in the USA. This is exactly how a third work country operates.

I have 3 of these all connecting to Netgear 3700 dual band. I'm running them on XP, Vista 32 and Windows 7 64 bit. Never had any problems. Drivers auto update and you don't need the CD or software. Speeds up to 300 Mbps on all of my machines. Great adapter!!!

I bought this product to improve my wireless range. To start with, the included install CD did not work. I ended up just plugging the adapter in and letting my computer do the grunt work of finding a driver that would work. However, if you do not already have wireless access in order to do this, it could be a huge pain.While it worked, the streaming capabilities of the adapter were superior, BUT I would randomly lose signal for no reason. I would have to unplug and then plug the device back in to get it running again.I bought this product later October and it is already not functioning. I plug it in, and it will have a connection for two seconds and then drop the signal. After that, it stops detecting any wireless connections whatsoever. I am supremely frustrated and am looking to buy a new product. I will not be purchasing anything made my Netgear again.

I used this unit to establish my desktop with a wireless function. Initial setup was problematic due to my Kaspersky blocking the install of the driver. Once that was solved by Netgear support I was up and running. 5G signal at 85% at 20 feet away with no walls. Works great for all streaming. Been using for 2 weeks with no issues.

I ordered this NETGEAR RangeMax WNDA3100 Dual Band Wireless-N Adapter in lieu of the so called recommended adaptor by Mitsubishi: the Azurewave AW-NU231. I saw where an individual suggested this, and he had success with this device, saving a more expensive outlay if buying the Azurewave device. Personally, I find Mitsubishi customer service to leave a Lot to be desired in that they fail to be fair when their components fail due to manufacturing and design issues. I bought this adapter and so far it rocks. Not only did I save a few bucks buying it from Embiz, an Amazon merchant, but I also have Wireless N functionality, AND a device from a reputable and solid company: Netgear.I plan on giving this about 30 days, and continue testing it out by utilizing the Internet Vudu apps on my set. If I incur any problems at all, I'll be sure to report. So far, so good.

I tried a few devices to get my new home network to run at max potential. I moved to a new home which required me to run mostly wireless on over 10 devices. My main PC used to be wired, but I had to get it to go wireless due to location. I initially bought this device and didn't get great performance so I assumed it was because it was just USB and one which would install internally into a PC slot would perform better. So I bought one (D-link DWA-556) and turns out the Netgear USB adapter was better. Then I decided to get a new router (Netgear N750) and that plus this USB adapter changed everything. I could now stream video at high quality with my router on a different floor all running wireless. These two devices are very easy to set-up and great quality. I find the 2.4 Ghz band to be most useful unless you are very close to the router. In my basement, I have excellent signal strength on 2.4Ghz band but average to poor on 5 Ghz. If the two devices were in the same room but you still wanted to run wireless, the 5 Ghz band would be able to be used. This device was simple to install on Windows 7 64 bit.

Purchased this to allow my older, larger 17 and 17.3" built-in G band laptops to receive better video streaming from Amazon Prime. Paired with my new NetGear 3400 dual band N600 Wi-Fi router (see my review), its been trouble free for me and doing EXACTLY what I purchased it for; I'm receiving movies uninterrupted! I have a small footprint very open 2 story house - and haven't yet experienced degredation of service others seem to have had over longer distances at the higher bandwidth.Apparently - also - my Vista OS laptops had no problems on setup with this unit. Apparently - there are alot of refurbs available - costing less - but I can't give advice on whether to purchase new or not!As usual, Amazon Prime free 2 day shipping is earning its keep at my house. Happy camper - under my listed circumstances.

This item was not compatible with my 64 bit computor. I purchased to make my PC wireless as it is apx 40' away & down the hall from Router/modem. I was unable to get the two to talk with one another. I reread the directions which said set up would work better if with in 4' of router. WHAT IS THE POINT? I called support to confirm once I got it set up it would work down the hall & was assured it would. I had to set up whole system with in feet of each other but still no luck. 3 more calls to service with last one lasting 140 min till I was transferred to another area & after being on hold for several min was told to leave a message and I would receive a call back - than I received a message that the system was unable to take any more messages & I was disconnected. Very unhappy with support @ NETGEAR. Item has been returned am awaiting my refund now/still.

I bought this to replace a Linksys 54G USB wifi to get more throughput. I found the device worked very well and had great through put. Very easy to install.Downside.Being USB everything requires an interrupt to the processor so the more data you shove through it potentially the more time on the processor their is. I noticed I had really fast speeds but seemed like things were oddly slow at times on the pc.The other issue I kept having is every so often the device would just go offline. I would have to unplug and plug it back in.I ultimately bought a Wireless card that was ASUS PCE-10 PCI-E single band N that works awesome and reasonably priced. I do notice its not quit as fast as the dualband but thats only during talking to my SAN.

This is a great adapter. We recently got a new router - a Netgear N900 Dual band router and discovered that none of our existing "802.11N" adapters were able to access the 5.0GHZ speed of the second band. Once we got these adapters, installation was easy and we have had fast consistent connections ever since. This is a great combination.

Purchased this to plug into my Panasonic Viera LED LCD TV (TC-L42E3) and connect to my d-link router. There was some question as to whether it would be compatible with the TV. Happy to report that it works perfectly and set-up required almost no thought. I have only been using for 2 weeks but have had absolutely no dropped connections. No need to get the recommended Panasonic adapter at twice the price.It was unclear from the Amazon description whether this would be a version 1 or version 2 adapter- I received version 2, as hoped.

Purchased this adapter in September 2010, having moved into a new apartment and being unwilling to drill holes in the walls to install ethernet cables.First, the good: when I finally managed to get it working correctly, it operated flawlessly for a good six months. Full bars (router being 10-12 feet away on the other side of a wall), no dropped connections or hiccups.The bad: Initial installation (Win7 x64 Professional) took a few tries to get right. Tried different combinations of the associated smart wizard software and the Windows native networking utilities before finding an arrangement that worked. After performing a reformat and new installation of Windows on the same machine, the adapter refuses to operate reliably, with the connection frequently and spontaneously dropping and refusing to be reacquired until I physically unplug it from the back of the machine and re-insert it. Tried every possible combination of drivers and software, both from the disk and from Netgear's site, as well as ensuring the Windows native WLAN processes are not interfering. After a week of being continually plagued with the same issue, I'm ready to toss the thing and have already ordered a replacement from a different brand.I'm normally willing to give products the benefit of the doubt, but this one has been nothing but frustration for a device that should take two minutes to set up.

This little dongle connected easily and quickly when we installed it. Installation was maybe 2 minutes and it connected. This took us from the 90's into the 2000's!Everything was wireless except for my wife's desktop. Because the desktop was wired, the printer was wired to the desktop and none of the wireless devices could print. I see others have given this item pretty decent reviews, but my experience was that it constantly lost it's connection. Drivers were updated and problem persisted. Was only about 15 feet from the router.

What makes Netgear stands out in WIFI card? They support their product with updated driver for current windows 7 despite this product first released on 2003. Dlink however, a total disappointment does not back their products with latest OS driver.

performance is not good. sometime, it also freeze the pc from time to time. under same condition, I compared this with a few of other computers(4-5 years old). the wireless throughput of this card is only about 50% of the others.this card is listed here at Amazon under a slightly different title, where more user complained about similar problems. this seller used a new titled with 2 growing 5 star reviews and it fooled me - not a good experience!!

The only positive aspect of this adapter is that it is easy to set up. In every other way, the adapter is not an adequate substitute for a wireless card. Netgear markets the device as being suitable for "work and play", which is simply not true. I purchased it for my desktop, and was shocked to find that it was horribly slow and had very poor connection strength. My laptop (which sits next to the adapter and my desktop) had a 5-bar connection and 15X the speed that this piece of junk has. After numerous speedtests and attempts to use this device with other computers I have determined that this adapter would not be acceptable for anyone who watches videos online, plays games online, or needs a stable connection for their work. Save yourself some money and buy a different product.

I purchased the Netgear RangeMax WNDA3100 ver 2 adapter based on reviews it is compatible with Panasonic 3d Blu Ray player. It is not. It works ok for PC or laptop but speeds are in 150 mbps range. This is not the compatible adapter for Panasonic Blu Ray player model BDT110P player.

I had some concerns with buying this due to the fact that my Netgear router is a couple of years old, and I wondered about compatibility. Well, no worries! Setup took about 10 minutes, it recognized my existing network without a problem, and internet speeds are satisfactory. Best of all, I got rid of one of the cables under my desk without any hassle!

I'm not happy with this card at all. It does work, however the software included disabled windows visual login without even prompting me. There is also no support for 64bit Linux or Windows64.

I own two of these and use them on Windows 7 in conjunction with a NETGEAR N600 router. The biggest problem I had during setup was with the adapter connected to my 2.4Ghz network; the router defaults to auto-select channels on this frequency, and kept bouncing around between channels, which was causing a severe "jitter" problem with the adapter. (English translation: everything connects fine, then you actually try to do stuff and your perfornace would be very sporadic - something is obviously wrong with your Internet connection, but Windows would report back that everything was just fine. Sound familar to those of you with complaints about this adapter?) Once the router was set to use a fixed channel, things calmed right down and I've been getting consistent speeds of 144-300Mbps on my home network with both adapters.I usually recommend using the Windows utility to manage wireless networks, but I've used this card both ways and NETGEAR's software does a better job of fixing the Internet connection (automatically, in the background,) and I don't recommend disabling it. I did, however, disable the ding it makes every time it reconnects/fixes the Internet connection, as it is quite annoying.

This is an UPDATE!First, I must admit that I first purchased WNDA3100v1 and, although I am a big Netgear fan, I was very disappointed with the product. I tried to use it on several computers, all Windows XP. Although the signal was strong and the bandwidth is what it says it is capable of, up to 300 Mbps, I had the same problems as it seems others encountered. It repeatedly and intermittently dropped the connection, although it automatically reconnected. Rather than wasting time, I turned to the NETGEAR WN111 Wireless-N 300 USB Adapter. I had much better success with it. You can read my review there.However, I recently was able to get a good deal on a v2 version of this. It seems as if the problem has been fixed with WNDA3100v2. I have it running on Windows 7 right now. So, my advice is that I would avoid v1 completely and only buy the v2 version. Some sellers state it explicitly. Some do not. So you need to be careful.
