The granular ability to configure and regulate your network this device gives is beyond reproach. I just love this thing and it has definitely wowed me! Good job guys keep the good work up as there is not a negative to say, this device does it all! I mean I am still learning all the darn features it is that well set up!
I could not make something better, just could not very very impressed, if you think this device is bad you do not know how to use it!

While the router itself is decent, the Mikrotik documentation available is not current and often references the other older routers in this generation. Just a small example, the reset button. Older Mikrotik routers have a COMPLETELY different way of resetting the router than this one and it's not documented properly on Mikrotik's own site. I had to go to Reddit & forums to find the right answer. Will be returning and exchanging it for a Edge Router X or 4.

Amazing little router. The user interface can be a little bit overwhelming at first. However the company has great online manuals and instructions on how to perform the majority of normal tasks. I run CapsMan with this router, WiFi is significantly faster. The packet capture function is very handy for troubleshooting.

So far I'm loving this router. It turned out to be smaller than I thought it would be. I purchased it for a subnet to run security cameras with an NVR. So far it's been a great router. It's running RouterOS and the admin panel is more complex than a standard router you'd get from your ISP, which I love. It seems to have a ton of monitoring and configuration options. As a tech enthusiast but a noob with routerOS this will be a fun learning experience.

My home network is a bit complicated, so I needed to set up lots of stuff! Learning curve was very steep, and made lots of mistakes as I went, but got there.
Recommend mynetworktraining.com if you need help learning the MikroTik way of doing things.

I have several of these in different buildings. They can do anything, except cook breakfast. One needs an advanced understanding of networking to operate the advanced features, but what ever you want it to do, IS possible. No one can come close to value for money.

Absolutely packed with features. I never expected the little thing be more advanced than many "pro" managed switches/routers.
It works when just plugged in in default settings, but changing anything requires decent networking knowledge.
Excellent for advanced users.

Mikrotik doesn't fail, thats all. Have purchased a ton of these units and they last forever. Sometimes the updates can go stupid - but use a backup and your back in business. Do recommend these, rack units are a little better but for a desktop router - these do great.

we used to get the 750gr3 (Hex Lite) but for $10 more these are totally worth it.
We often configure these in bridge mode to use as transparent traffic shapers but i also use them for remote troubleshooting because i can stream captures to my office to trouibleshoot voip/connectivity issues.
For a more robust carrier-grade platform i highly recommend the rb1100ahx4 or the CCR series. config is the same accross the board for everything in the mikrotik lineup

I needed a ethernet router switch and bought this MikroTik Hex S.
I initially bought this product for mainly two reasons, one the price, second good reviews.
After using this product for couple of months, I can confidently say that this is the ethernet router to get, if you have a 1GB internet speed available.
The included picture is a snapshot of internet speed test that I have run as I am writing this review.
I'd say, on average, both download and upload speeds is around 900+mbps

I highly doubt for this price you can get better than MikroTik.
For the seller: I received the router without any package, just the MikroTik box, even that was open. So far I haven't seen any issue.

These are really cool, but there is a learning curve. If you know your way around yiur typical wifi router, you don't know your way around this thing. Would definitely recommend it.

This router is not for anyone who's not an expert in networking.
Sure, the basic internet connection will work pretty much from the start.
But if you have a smart home or camera system, oh boy you're in to a wild ride.
This is the most complicated router I ever had, I know my way in PCs, but this is some next level of difficulty.
I will never recommend this for anyone who's not an IT guy or into networking.

Really compact and useful router. I definitely like it. I've setup a couple VLANs on it, im using it with a mikrotik switch, and other equipment.

Nice little router and quick setup for basic features. You can use a fiber sfp for internet only service if your isp doesnt offer tv and phone over the same fiber (if you have an ont then you can't plug the fiber directly into the router). Capable of full gigabit up and down even though my gig isp service only gives me 700 to 850 up and down. Has been stable for the last few months since I got it.

This router is way more robust than your typical Netgear or Linksys SOHO router. It is very complex with a definite learning curve but once you learn it will do almost anything the commercial routers will do and then some. I highly recommend.

The got a bad firm upgrade fixed using Winbox.
FYI: If you are unable to connect to the web interface, use Winbox as it connects directly using mac address. Afterwards, you can do a firmware/re-flash by directly uploading the npk to Files and re-boot

2 stars docked for selling this as a POE device and not providing a power block good enough to power a POE device. It is an extra cost to buy a DC block to power the POE or to buy a POE injector. Disappointed in Mikrotik for cheeping out on the power supply. Works well otherwise, bit of a learning curve on the setup.

I had to organize my house's LAN as there were too many APs and too many private subnets making it difficult to have all hosts connected. This box did the trick.
