I will start off by admitting that I never purchased an original xbox and was a big fan of the Playstation consoles. I did purchase my first xbox 360 on release day. I was loyal to Playstation for a while, but the controller is better, the the games are better, live is better, and the entertainment side was developed and added quicker. It didn't take very long to make it my console of choice. Originally, the xbox was just the best gaming device out there and I now have 4 xbox 360s which I use on a regular basis.I use the xbox a number of different ways.First of all, it is the console I turn to when playing games and xbox live works really well for online gaming. The controller is comfortable (when compared to the PlayStation 3 Dualshock 3 Wireless Controller (Black)). I have never had controller connection issues like I had with the PS3. The PS3 is based on bluetooth connectivity technology which is nice for finding/using headsets, keyboards, etc to connect to the PS3, but it doesn't as well as the RF based xbox 360 controller.I am an ATT U-Verse subscriber and have dropped my $7/month rental of the U-Verse TV receiver. Instead I use my xbox as my ATT U-Verse TV receiver. The only issue I have found with the xbox 360 acting as my U-Verse receiver is the "40 second advance" button doesn't work. You can also use the xbox as a Verizon Fios TV receiver.I also stream videos from the internet on my xbox 360. Netflix, Hulu, HBO to Go, MLB.TV, Youtube, Crackle and more can be played on the console. I use Netflix and Crackle on a regular basis. I tired Hulu Plus on a free trial and although I didn't find a need for the service personally and canceled my service, it worked flawlessly.you can rent or buy movies through the zune marketplace or services such as Vongo or Cinemanow. You can listen to internet radio through the xbox with last.fm or you could download music to your xbox's hard drive and listen to it that way.The xbox 360 can also be used as a windows media center extension which works really well and I can stream movies, photos, or music from my Windows Media Center computer. One of the nicer things is I can use/set up a Logitech Universal Programmable Remote Control to work with my xbox 360, which I can't do with my PS3 unless I buy a separate adapter. If you still have the need to watch DVDs, your xbox will play them as well.Xbox Live is $60/year, but it isn't hard to find codes on sale for $40 or $50 and even at the $60 price point, it is worth it.The Xbox would do well to add BluRay capability, but with everything going digital and being licensed by Sony, I don't see that happening. Also, the console lacks Amazon Prime video support. Microsoft is constantly adding streaming content and it would help to get apps such as TBS, Comedy Central, NBC and obviously Amazon Prime. It wouldn't surprise me if Microsoft isn't already working on that. The Xbox 360 is a great all around device. It does a lot of things well and several things really well. It doesn't have the content of a Roku or Apple TV; it doesn't have the music of pandora or SiriusXM; it doesn't have BluRay, but it does have the best gaming, TV service, streaming video and they are constantly adding more content. The price is becoming more and more reasonable for what it does.

I purchased this system to replace my ailing XBOX 360 Premium and to get the Kinect along with it. I was skeptical of the Kinect technology at first, but after using it I can safely say that it's fun to use, but it has a few downsides which I'll explain below. Now, I'm going to talk about the three different parts of this bundle separately.1) The XBox 360 SNothing much new here--it's an XBox 360, but smaller. Still, I should mention that, in the short time that I've owned the system, I haven't yet experienced any of the issues that plagued my previous 360 systems, such as lockups and the dreaded red ring of death (which is now a Red Eye of Doom on the XBox 360 S). There are also a few minor differences. The air vent is located on the side (or the top, if you mount it horizontally), the buttons are touch-sensitive and don't have to be pressed in, the system makes pleasant ringtone-like sounds when you turn it on and off or you eject discs, there's no faceplate to change out, the hard drive has plenty of room, and the system has a spiffy, shiny black finish. And of course, it has a specialized port in the back reserved exclusively for the Kinect sensor. There's really not much else to say, and certainly nothing to complain about.2) The Kinect SensorThis is probably the most significant part of the review, and for obvious reasons. Microsoft is betting a ton of money that Kinect will take off like a rocket and be supremely popular on the marketplace, but how good is it really? Well, it's a fairly large device for starters, and it's strongly suggested that you not mess with it very much whether it's on or off. The reason for this is that the Kinect has a little motor in it that gives it the ability to tilt and up down, and if the user attempts to tilt it himself he might damage that motor. You should also place it in a stable location, and I certainly wouldn't recommend mounting it on top of your TV unless you have a special mount for it. Finally, make sure your playing area has plenty of space because you're going to need it.Anyhow, enough of the safety PSA's. How well does it work? Well, the Kinect, from what I've read, basically projects thousands of little infrared dots all over your room, and uses their points of impact along with the camera to determine your position in the room and what you're doing. It usually works fairly well, I found. Characters would follow my own movements (at least to the degree allowed by the game), which was neat to watch, and despite my concerns about the Kinect lagging behind my movements it wasn't really noticeable. There are issues, though. The tracking was not as accurate as it could have been, and with some games I've been having trouble getting the Kinect to accurately interpret my movements. For instance, sometimes on Dance Central I could swear I'm doing a dance move in exactly the same way as the onscreen character, but for some reason the game just doesn't recognize it. Another example would be on Sonic Free Riders, where a certain move called a "Kick-Off," which gives you a temporary boost of speed, seems to go off on its own whether or not I actually wanted it to. It's not as bad as I might be making it sound, though. Most games should work really well with the Kinect. The Kinect can also be used to navigate the XBox Live menu, but personally, I preferred to just use the controller because it's quicker and easier. Manipulating the menu by gesture is slow, owing to the fact that your hand must hover over your selections for about a second, and even with voice commands you may find that the Kinect doesn't always interpret what you say correctly. Finally, you might be wondering what kinds of games you can play on this. Well, thus far there's racing games, pet-raising games, exercise games, and mini-game collections (like Kinect Adventures, see below). At this time, however, I'm really wondering if that's all the Kinect is capable of doing. I mean, you stand in front of the sensor, you move your arms and legs around, and that's it. It's not very complicated, but there also isn't a lot you can do with it. Would a hardcore game like God of War or Halo, which require complex commands and a high degree of precision, even be possible with the Kinect? If that doesn't bother you and you aren't interested in those kinds of games anyway, more power to you. You'll likely have a lot of fun with the system in spite of everything, it's great for motivating yourself to exercise.Oh, and before I end this part of the review, I'll just mention that some future Kinect games may use the Xbox 360 controller, though at this time I have no idea how well that will work.3) Kinect AdventuresI have to wonder why they didn't pack Kinect Sports in with the Kinect rather than this game. I thought including a sports mini-game compilation was a motion control tradition or something! But seriously, Kinect Adventures is a fun game and it makes for a pretty good tech demo for the Kinect, which is the most

I would just like to set the record straight once and for all. The Xbox 360 does NOT, and I repeat, DOES NOT compare at all with the Sony Playstation 3 system.Being a proud owner of a PS3 since February 2010 (it's actually my two-year PS3 anniversary as I type out this review), I decided to expand my consolar horizons a little bit, so I bought this 250GB Xbox 360 Holiday Bundle from the Microsoft Store for $199.99 around Black Friday 2011.We all remember the Xbox 360 Black Friday Deal Wars, right? Sam's Club, Best Buy, Amazon, and the Microsoft Store all had this holiday bundle advertised for $199.99. However, Amazon royally messed everything up by having the sale AFTER Best Buy and all the other stores were done with their sales. I think that was an extremely poor marketing tactic on Amazon's part. If they were smart, they would have put this system on sale for $199.99 BEFORE either one of the other competitors had it up. By doing it after, I bet Amazon could have salvaged a lot more money off this deal. But aside from that little marketing rant, let's get back to the system itself. It is truly worth only 3 stars. I took one star off for the fact that the system comes with a wireless controller. No USB cord was attached to it! You would think that you would be getting a wireless controller with the optional USB attachment like the PS3 controller, but that's not what you get here. Microsoft should have included the USB cord with the controller in this package! Having to change the batteries whenever the thing dies is a real inconvenience! It's not like the Wii where you HAVE TO change the batteries for the Wii-mote because it doesn't hook up via USB otherwise...so that's an exception. But there is just no excuse for this Xbox wireless controller. Also, there is no Blu Ray functionality with the Xbox system at all (either the Fat or Slim editions). Now, I heard that the next generation Xbox console (the 720) will come out with Blu Ray to compete with the PS3, but I think Microsoft is a little too late with that. They should have put the Blu Ray out right when Sony did!Speaking of changes, I also heard that the 720 won't let you play any used games. What a crock! Talk about GREED! I really should be giving this system a one-star preemptive deduction based on that! However, you never know what can happen, and with enough consumer appeal, Microsoft just may change their minds about doing that (and they should if they knew what was good for them).Lastly, and this is the biggest drawback to Microsoft's Xbox conglomerate: YOU HAVE TO PAY TO PLAY ONLINE! I'm sure so many people know that, but do you realize just how much of an inconvenience that is? It's also downright GREEDY! (There's Mr. Gates' greed factor again!) Sony allows all PS3 users to play multiplayer games for free, so how come Microsoft doesn't do it? Ridiculous. AND guess what? If you want to watch Netflix, Hulu, or whatever other television-oriented apps, you have to purchase an Xbox LIVE Gold membership just to do that! That is VERY annoying and unfair. You should not have to buy a LIVE membership just to watch Netflix, I'm sorry. PS3 wins here again...Folks, do yourselves a huge favor and get a PS3 instead of an Xbox 360. Unless you have a means to hack your xbox via an xk3y, then it's not worth it.

I bought the XBox 360 for my grandson, (9 years old) as a Christmas gift. First, he created avatars for himself, his dad, and me. Needless to say, he created and saved several outfits for his avatar--one even for going to sleep at night. Naturally, he took a lot of time giving me instructions on how to operate the unit since "it lives with me." Once the avatars were in place, he explored the many features of his XBox. To me it was quite complicated; however, as with all young children, they are up to speed on all of today's technology. We set up profiles on the Kinect and played around with space requirements needed to fully enjoy it. We downloaded the free Carnival and Kinect Adventures games that came with the purchase by using the Redeem Codes. Afterwards, we tried several of the games out (too numerous to name since I am not currently signed into the system). I can tell you that I got tired trying to keep up with the Kinect requirements (You really have to be in good tip top shape since most are so physical.) My grandson had no problem keeping up. (His dad was too busy enjoying his new Kindle Fire I gave him.) My grandson had no problem keeping up with the dance moves of the Just Dance 3 game; I had to sit down after about 3 minutes. (I learned I have to get back on my Bowflex and get my legs back in shape in order to fully enjoy the benefits derived from partaking in Just Dance 3.) My grandson was back to my home early Monday and Tuesday to get started again on XBox 360. (He will be back this afternoon to get signed in to his XBox.) In the meantime, I have found myself staying up until 3-4 a.m. in the morning playing the games (those where I can work the controller). Last night I enjoyed a game that required racing boats; I don't want to tell you how much fun I kept having crashing the boat because I did not know how to steer; I kept going in the wrong direction. The fun was in "just doing it." I'll learn how to play the games later; right now, I'm just getting familiar with everything.I gave the XBox 360 250GB five (5) stars because I can already see the possibilities for so much family fun and great exercising especially during inclement weather. It wasn't hard to set up even though I did get confused during the initial setup. I did not know I should have been using my Windows Live Email Address as a contact; instead, I used my son's google email address. I tried to change it and found out I had to wait 30 days. That's okay though; my son is having to forward me his emails so I will be kept up to speed until 25 Jan 2012, at which time I will be able to make a correction to the email address. (This is small potatoes.) I was, however, able to make changes to my email address associated with billing information immediately--no waiting for 30 days there. (Okay, I understand, Billing is Business and Microsoft will give you every opportunity to provide correct billing information. Ain't no shame in that!!!)My grandson, son, and I will be firing the XBox back up this evening. BTW: We've already enjoyed watching NETFLEX movies on it. This is a great device. I know there is so much more to be said, but HEY, it's only been set up since Christmas. I highly recommend it as a gift for anyone at any age. It shows up Xbox 360 250GB Console with Kinectwonderful on a 55 inch LED HDTV. Way to go Microsoft.JES Womack, Macon, GA

I only found out about Kinect a couple of weeks ago. After reading some of the preliminary reviews, I was intrigued enough that I pre-ordered it almost immediately. Being a gadget nerd, I ordered this bundle despite already having an Xbox360, because I wanted the larger hard drive, the quietness of the new console (whisper quiet!!!!!), and the built-in wireless. The new design is pretty sweet too. Overall a fantastic console. I'd recommend upgrading.Kinect? ABSOLUTELY FANTASTIC!!!!! I have read countless reviews on Kinect. And the more I read the more leery I was getting about my pre-order. Most of the reviews complained about lag, or the space requirement, or that the games were nothing more than regurgitated Wii games, and how every game title ever developed wasn't re-developed for Kinect on launch day. WTF?Unplugged the old Xbox360, plugged in the power supply to the new 360, plugged in the HDMI cable (no more adapter required), plugged in the digital audio cable, set the Kinect under my tv, plugged it into the Xbox, turned it on and it's go time. A few minutes of setup was all it took, setting up the wireless connection, entering your Xbox Live info, and a few update downloads. Very painless process. We moved the coffee table out of the way and moved the couch back a couple of feet. Sorry, if you're living in a $2,000 a month, 400 sq. ft. NY studio, this isn't the game for you. But fortunately for Microsoft, most people think having to use your kitchen sink as your nightstand isn't acceptable living conditions, so I completely dismiss the space requirement "problem". The front of the couch is normally right at 8 feet from the TV, but because two of us were going to be playing, we moved it back a couple of more feet so that we would be standing at the 8 foot mark. It worked perfectly, and actually for some of the games we played we moved as close as maybe 3-4 feet from the TV. So I think you could easily cut the 8 feet down to 6. 6-8 feet is recommended in the documentation. We played Kinect Adventures first, the game that comes in the box. Wii-like? Yes. Fun? Soooooo much more fun than any Wii game I've played. That Kinect can track your every move -- your hands, head, arms, feet, hips, EVERYTHING -- is just amazing. No controller can detect whether you're moving side-to-side, or backwards and forwards, or squatting or jumping while at the same time moving your arms. It's just brilliant how well Kinect works. One game in particular really shows the potential of this thing. You're in an underwater tank and crazy fish keep poking holes in the glass. You have to plug these holes to keep the water from coming in. In some cases I had to use both hands, both feet, and my head to plug all of the holes...yes, all at the same time. The girlfriend and I had a blast with it. The other games were just as fun.I think Your Shape best highlighted what Kinect is capable of. You are an infrared replication of yourself on the screen. The shape of my body was precise (unfortunately) and it even picked up the logo on the t-shirt I was wearing. There are numerous exercises you can do and you follow along with an instructor. You have to stay in sync with the intructor to earn points and advance to higher levels and the Kinect does an amazing job of following your every movement and comparing it to the instructor. Not spreading your feet far enough apart? It'll tell you. Not keeping the right rhythm? It'll tell you. It is so much more immersive than anything I've played on the Wii and I can now actually see myself doing Your Shape instead of going to the gym. It's really fantastic.A lot of the reviews complained about lag, meaning it takes a bit for the Kinect to detect your movements and get them on the screen. Is there lag? Yes, as measured in fractions of a second. Is it noticeable? Only if you're specifically focusing on it. But it's not noticeable during actual game play because you're focusing on the game. And just like with the Wii, you quickly learn to compensate for that fraction of a second difference. It's an absolute non-issue!!!!!All-in-all, having played three titles (Kinect Adventures, Kinect Sports, and Your Shape) over a span of a couple of hours, the girlfriend and I were exhausted, exhillarated, and amazed at the experience. My girlfriend, being a typical girl, whose life isn't defined by gadgets, even posted on FB that the Kinect really is AMAZING! It more than exceeded our expectations and I couldn't be happier with the purchase. And I am absolutely ecstatic about what Kinect means for the future of gaming. Fully immersive Call of Duty? Yeah, it's coming!

A great value for an awesome video game system. I would like to give the flipside comparison to be fair, versus the PS3 fanboy that posted his review below.1. The bundle comes with the Kinect, which is much better than the PS Move. I own both, and I can tell you that it just collects dust. If you want a motion controller, you might as well go with the Wii U, as there are quality Wii and Wii U compatible games. Kinect full body game works great as well, but the Wii is simply better for certain type of games.2. The Xbox 360 has plenty of exclusive titles, such as Halo 4 and Gears of War 3. Certain titles just simple work better on the XBox 360, such as Skyrim. As you might already know at the time of this review Skyrim DLCs are available for the 360 and PC, but not PS3. In fact, certain games just play better on the 360. Many also prefer the Xbox 360 controller. There is also the indie game marketplace, Xbox Live arcade, and on demand games. Just like the PS3, Xbox Live offers apps like Hulu, Netflix, Crackle, etc., but most of use utilize motion and voice controls of the Kinect.3. The other review mentions that the PS3 online play is free. There is a reason for that, as it's not well supported and is poorly done. Features as simple as matchmaking/lobbies are just terribly done on the PS3. Play on Xbox Live and you will find a large multiplayer community with features that are constantly added and updated. The PS3 has been quite stagnant while the Xbox 360 has evolved over time.Of course, both systems do the job (I have both) and you will notice only minor differences. For me the PS3 has simply become a Blu-ray player, and is never used for games. The XBox 360 just works better in that regard. If you want true interactivity, or the best multiplayer gaming experience, go for the Xbox 360. If you don't care about those two, either system will work for you as most games are available on all platforms.

To those of you thinking of buying this holiday "bundle" for your kid/s for Christmas, beware that it will be a time-consuming operation just to get it up and running. A few points via my own experience I want to share:Microsoft clearly wants to get all the information they can out of you, including multiple email addresses. I tried for over half an hour to sign in to a new "xbox live" account with my Windows Live ID, which xbox told me to do, but then refused to accept. It kept telling me a different "gamertag" was associated with my account. Odd, since I never had a "gamertag" before. What I wound up doing was using a different email and setting up a whole new "live" account. But at least it worked.Next up, downloading the "free" Halo game included in the bundle. We have high speed internet from Comcast, so downloading this game should have been easy. Alas, it went turtle slow. Only 2% had downloaded in 15 minutes, so I opted to take my dogs for a walk while it finished. When I returned half an hour later, the TV screen was dimmed so I hit a button on the Xbox controller to check the download progress, and up pops the following message: download cancelled. Nice.Having experience stuff like this before (though granted, not since the dial up age), I went into the section where my games and downloads are supposedly kept. No sign of Halo. Back to the drawing board. I returned to the enter code section, and I have to admit I wasn't surprised when it said the code had already been redeemed.Yesterday I spent half an hour composing a letter to Microsoft tech support to explain the problems I had setting up their console and my unsucessful attempt to download my "free" game. Most companies (Apple comes quickly to mind) appreciate their customers explaining problems in detail so they can be addressed. This morning I recieved a note for a tech support guy thanking me for my concerns and a link to post my frustrations on the Xbox community. Not one mention of how he planned to resolve my missing game. One other point. While I have read in numerous reviews that the 360 Xbox is fully compatible with old original Xbox games as long as you get one with a hard drive, that is not true. At least half of my old games won't work in the new system. I managed to track down a page on the 360 Xbox site that lists the compatible games, and a rather terse message at the end said that no more games will be added to the list. So, if you were going to buy the more expensive system (tather than the 4 GB) because of compatiblity, go the 360 Xbox site and make sure enough of your games are listed to make it worthwhile. In closing, I want to say that I am a long time Microsoft supporter. I used to do software and hardware testing for them when I lived in Seattle. But after my setup experience with this consolue, and Microsoft's total lack of support in even attempting to solve my download problem, it's obvious that this Microsoft is not the company it used to be. Thankfully, I purchased an Iphone instead of the new Windows phone. But that's another story.

***BUY A WARRANTY WITH THIS PRODUCT***My experience with the product:Very limited - it broke within 20 minutes of me plugging it in, due to a 'software fault'. I was informed by one person at Microsoft support this happens to 2%-6% of the xboxs which are produced and shipped.I had done my research before buying an xbox and had been worried by all the faults which had been described in forums, and worried by the supposed lack of support from Microsoft. I made sure to buy a Squaretrade warranty with this product. My customer services experience Microsoft/AmazonHaving received my xbox, I was of course excited. Within 20 minutes of me switching it on, I was presented with a error code, and was directed to Microsoft support. I then spent an hour on the phone with various different representatives who refused to talk to each other, leaving me to repeat my situation at length four times. I was told that I had two options: send the product to Microsoft and let them take a month fixing it, or ring Amazon and see what they could do, after which I was cut off by the final representative I spoke to - this was one of the worst customer services experiences I had had in a long time. No apologies about a faulty product, no admission of guilt, nothing.I then rang Amazon and spoke with a representative who instantly set me up with expedited shipping and free collection of the faulty item, leaving me happy - and stunned at the stark contrast in customer services. After this I then rang Microsoft back to complain at how I had been previously treated, to end up speaking, after 45 minutes, to a manager who offered me 20% off a gold membership (this is not a compensative measure, merely a deal xbox live is offering all disgruntled customers at the moment, $48 instead of $60).Personally I see this as completely unacceptable compensation for this situation. When I asked for a customer services mangers email address, I was told they were 'not given out, outside the company'. When I then went on to ask for an xbox live email address, to submit a formal complaint, I was told there was no such email address. I was told I could physically write to the corporate address to lodge a complaint - which would do about as much good as shouting at the moon. I cannot believe that a multi-billion company like this has such a ridiculous customer support service. This has been my worst customer service experience EVER and I've only just got the product and used it less than an hour! So, to sum up, I guess I'd say: I'm going to have an xbox, I'm going to pay for the memberships, etc, but Microsoft have left their reputation in tatters as far as I am concerned. Hopefully some competition will appear on the console scene soon, and customers will have somewhere else to go.Amazon did a super awesome job and I can't fault them.and finally...***BUY A WARRANTY WITH THIS PRODUCT***

The 25Ogb drive arrived on time and was packaged in an original Microsoft box and appeared to be a brand new drive manufactured by Microsoft. The Xbox 360 Slim system I have is 1 week old purchased new from Best Buy.I installed the drive and turne. on the system. I went to the storage settings and the new 250GB hard drive was not listed or recognized by the Xbox 360. I opened the Xbox up and reinstalled the drive several times and received the same relsults evey time. My 4 GB internal storage showed up as well as my USB 16GB flash device. The external 250gb still was not recognized or showed up as a storage device.I went to Gamestop the next day and purchased a used 250 GB drive for $89. My initial intent to see if it showed up as storage on the Xbox. Once I got home I noticed the 250 GB GameStop drive had the name Microsoft on the case and appeared more genuine. I installed the GameStop drive into the Xbox and it immediately recognized the drive as additional 250 GB drive with a Microsoft logo in the storage settings.I am returning the drive I purchased from this reseller through amazon. Amazon return policy is excellent and I will be refunded on this fraudualt post from the reseller. If you plan on buying this drive, BUYER BEWARE because mine was sent in original Microsoft box that looked like the real deal. It was a fake drive that did not work with my brand new console. Look for another reseller and skip this fake Microsoft 250gGB drive.

Kinect was something I heard about when it was called "Project Natal". I saw the many Microsoft videos about it and thought it wasn't going to appeal. Mostly because it looked like an outsider, something that couldn't deliver. "Natal" was promising great things, things that I didn't even know a gaming system could do. While Natal looked like great fun as it progressed into Kinect, I was hoping that this new motion sensor would fulfill the promises.Once your Kinect is set up, it will go through calibration tests and more. But after the surprisingly decent time of set up, mine was ready to go. Kinect does take up space and you will need at least 6 ft between Kinect and you.The "Kinect Hub" is the main menu for Kinect features. You get to the Hub by waving your hand or by saying commands like Xbox then Kinect. The Hub has many features, one where you scan your face to have Kinect recognize you when signing into your Xbox 360 character. This feature is very responsive but you may need to scan your face in multiple lighting, like night or day.I also tested the voice commands that I thought worked with a DVD movie. After a few frustrating minutes, I found out that this only works with "HD movies". Even if these voice commands did work with a disc movie, I probably would never use it because Xbox 360 only reads DVDs not Blu-rays.The first game I played on Kinect was Kinect Adventures which is included. "Rally Ball" was casual fun with kicking, jumping and looking like you are trying to get attention on a New York City sidewalk. When playing on Kinect for the first time, all I could think was how responsive Kinect was and the minion lag.Kinect Adventures was fun but what really made me confident in Kinect was Dance Central. Dance Central is the most responsive motion dancing game I have ever played. It hardly ever tracks you wrong and makes for a great dancing experience. Once I figured out how to operate the user friendly menu, I was instantly hooked on dancing to tracks like Just Dance and Evacuate the Dance Floor.Kinect has many features but with just the ones I talked about in this review, I am already more than impressed with Kinect. I am still waiting for games that have more "serious impressions" and to be more than just casual fun.I like Kinect's idea but I want it to be more than just "family fun", I want Kinect to also have the image of the Xbox. Until that happens I won't be fully happy with my Kinect. But no matter what, Kinect is truly revolutionary. The Xbox 360 console that comes with this bundle is really a great addition to the Xbox family. Microsoft leaves the "box" design for a sleek, modern looking Xbox. There is not much different with it than my older Xbox Elite. Design, gigabytes, and fan is what I notice. When I heard that this console would fix the fan problem, I was more than excited. When playing a game on my older Xbox, there was always an annoying fan noise that would fill the background. This console still has a noisy fan but extremely less than before. I was thinking that there would be no noise, but I wasn't surprised when I hear the faint fan.I was planning on getting the Xbox 360 4GB Console with Kinect but I then realized that the less storage would come back to haunt me. This bundle is also "Special Edition" but I don't really know what makes it special besides getting Kinect with it.The controller that comes with this edition is very nice but I am having a couple problems with it. After 30 minutes of play, the left joystick stated squeaking when moving it. This was pretty annoying for me while playing games. I stopped playing with the controller and then after a while of other people playing with the controller, it stopped squeaking. I then thought that maybe the controller just needed to be broken in. After playing the controller for a while more, I noticed the right trigger starting to squeak. I now just think that I got a messed up controller because I have two of the same edition controllers and have had none of these problems.Beside the controller problem, this edition of the Xbox is well worth it for design, gigabytes, and less fan noise. I enjoy it a lot but by now I am already used to the annoying fan noise my Elite console made. Either way I highly recommend this Xbox edition.

Before I get into this review, I'm not sure why Amazon has this thing listed like a game. lOlI have to say that the retail value of this drive is vastly overpriced and I'm sure many can agree with me. Other than this fact it is a really good drive. It was easy to install and the console immediately picks it up. It's just as easy to uninstall as it is to install which helps. You are roughly getting 229GB of usable space with this drive as the other 21GB is probably partitioned for backwards compatibility to original Xbox games and system files. It's a really simple process installing it which I can't say the same for the PS3. Even though the drive is 100% non-visible when installed the casing give it a sleek, piano black look which is nice.I would recommend avoid paying full retail for this drive if you can help it. I was fortunate enough to get the official drive for nearly half the retail price from one of the other merchants. You can choose to get one of the off brand drives as they work just as good as the official drive. The only exception is the off brands are not partitioned to play original Xbox games so it's recommended to go for that one if you don't plan on playing any original Xbox titles on your 360. In my case, I have never owned the original Xbox, yet there were titles I've always wanted to play so the official drive was the logical choice for me. Since getting the drive I know own original Fable: The Lost Chapters and Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic and they play with no problems. In the end, get what's best for you.Overall, it is both pricey and solid. If you're fortunate enough like me to get this drive at a cheap price then do it. It is worth getting.

Both the xbox and the kinect get my highest rating.I have an original first gen Xbox 360 I got when they first came out, that's still kicking. That was in my bedroom to extend my media center PC there.I had a newer Elite hooked up with my PS3, wii, and mac mini that runs windows 7 media center, all going to my TV in the great room. So this new slim Xbox replaced that bulkier Elite, that Elite went to my bedroom, and my 7 year old is thrilled since now I'm buying a TV for his room to hook up the old first gen white one.So the Xbox - love the redesign, but the packaging really ticked me off. rather than just some static cling type protective film over the disc tray, they used something with annoying tacky junk on it. And of course it did NOT come off nice. So I spent about 30 minutes getting it all off without messing up the finish. Usually you can use some part of that protective cover that still has some tackiness to it to "blot up" what remained behind, but this stuff was just a nightmare to remove. Also can't believe in the era of HD TV's they still give the lowest possible version of the cable to hook up to a TV. I mean come ON, how many people are still using nothing more than one video cable and a L/R sound input on an old non HDTV? I get that they want to make money, but after ponying up $400, at LEAST give a usable cable... Fortunately for me I was replacing an existing one so just used the HDMI cable already in place. But this leaves me with nothing to use for my son's room when I get his new TV, so another cable purchase needed.Sound - this new slim xbox is dead silent. No more turbofan engine sounds when you fire it up. I'm about 18 or 20 feet away from where my TV and all these other boxes sit and I can't hear it when it's running. It's just as silent as the PS3 if not more. Great job after the years of jet wash sounds the previous versions created.Brick *is* smaller but hardly by much... Uses the same plug to the AC source, but it's a different plug coming into the unit now. So you can swap the brick but don't have to swap the AC cable coming to it if you're replacing an existing one like I did.I had no problem using one of the several hard drive transfer cables I have laying around the house from the days when they used to ship them free to people on request. Transfer went fine, didn't even need to use the CD, was built into the xbox OS evidently now to recognize the cable and just do the transfer. Everything went except the actual files of the games I installed from the discs to help speed up load times. Then I hit the [...] site to move licenses to the new box, and all is working nice and easy.Pretty AND quiet, could not ask for more. Then there's the Kinect unit. One USB plug on the built-in cable, and you're off.I was amazed at how well it worked, I had lower expectations for a first gen piece of equipment like this. But it DOES work, and surprisingly well. It's fun to use, and me and my 7 year old enjoyed playing with the bundled game. Slight delay between your actions and it's representation on the screen, but it IS just slight, much less than I had expected. I wish selecting things was a "hold your hand so you're 'covering' the button, then PUSH towards the TV to push the button" but it's a 'hold your hand so you cover the button then hold the hand still for 3 or 4 seconds to select it" type of action. I also wish I could skip the intro to the kinect game that always warns you to move furniture out of the way and such. That gets old after a while.Video chat and ESPN requires a gold xbox live membership though. I had let mine expire after 6 or 7 years since I hadn't done anything online with anyone for the last three or so, but looks like I'll have to get that gold account again to try out the video chatting. All in all, a great purchase and a wonderful value. Xbox is same price I initially paid for my Elite when it came out, and has larger drive, more USB ports (even though I don't use them for anything other than the Kinect now), and built in 802.11n wireless (my add-on wireless for the Elite only did 802.11g so was useless here after I upgraded my wireless network). Too bad they didn't offer this unit when I was looking last year and got my Elite...

It took FIVE YEARS for Microsoft to learn how to develop decent hardware that doesn't break for 66% of the people in the first few months of its launch. NOW you don't have to worry about the high chance of it breaking, and having to wait three weeks to get it back, and another month for it to break again. But is it really worth it?Honestly............no.I'll talk about the good things first. Gears of War. I LOVE that game. It's one of the best games I have ever played on the 360. Another thing I like is how easy it is to connect with friends over Xbox LIVE. Even though I don't really care about online gaming as much as I used to, but if you're one of those people that only bought a 360 to play every Call of Duty game with your high school friends, well have fun. It's also FINALLY reliable, easy to use an iPod for it, can play custom songs on EVERY game, and this model has a nice-sized hard drive.OK, enough of that. Now for the main reasons why I wouldn't buy one with my own pocket.1. Xbox LIVE! I have NEVER met so many immature, rude, stupid people in my entire life in one place. In the four years I had a 360 before I went with a PS3, I ran across racism, females showing their parts on camera, people screaming inappropriate words at the top of their lungs, young children playing M-rated games when they shouldn't be, on top of complaining about people cheating because they're losing (they're NEVER losing because they lack any skill......), singing lyrics to horrible songs with their horrible voice in your ear......for those that like patience like me, it's not worth it at all. And this was back in the day when Xbox LIVE cost $50 a year. Now it's 10 dollars more, for the exact same thing, minus some new features. Another thing wrong with Xbox LIVE (and not a lot of people know this) is the connectivity to it. It's all P2P servers. For example, let's say you have a 10MB connection. That's very fast for those that have no knowledge when it comes to internet speeds (and very expensive), but you join a gaming lobby with a friend and he's only using 1MB (basically the minimum for online gaming), and you are lagging all over the place. The reason you are lagging is your friend with the 1MB connection is the host, and since your connection is 10x faster than his, he can't keep up with your ping levels, and with him hosting on a slower connection, you will lag all over the place. It's not your fault, or his. It's Microsoft's fault for using P2P servers instead of dedicated servers. It's amazing how they say "xxxx game is using dedicated servers", but still doesn't fix the issue. Nice job, Microsoft.2. What games are you going to play? If you're like me, and don't want to play every Call of Duty game and Halo with little children that shouldn't be there, what else is there for you to play? Virtually everything on the 360, you can get on your PC, and PS3. HOWEVER, things you can get on those two consoles are NOT AVAILABLE for the 360. In other words, the golden days of the Xbox 360 having more exclusive games are over.3. Even though some call it an opinion, almost everyone agrees. The D-Pad on that controller is HORRIBLE! GOD AWFUL! SERIOUSLY! I hear they fixed that problem (seems it takes them five years to fix everything), but as far as I'm concerned, I hate that D-Pad.But if none of the above bothers you, then have fun with your Xbox 360. But if you're like me, buy a PS3, and stay far away from this......unless you like Gears of War 3, but I'm not spending $400 for a Kinect thing I don't care for at all, and just to play one game.**EDIT** I hope you're enjoying only having three new games come out this year, exclusive to the 360....Halo Anniversary, Forza 4, and Gears 3. Sorry, hardcore gamers.....but there's always Kinect!

I sold my old Xbox 120GB to get this one.Let me start out by saying this is one sexy looking console. The casing is actually matte-black, which I really like because it doesn't attract fingerprints or dust as easily. Additionally this is SUPER compact compared to the older model, I mean TINY. I also love the design, very minimalist and modern. And speaking of design, the decision to use touch sensors in place of actual buttons is very smart when you think about it. The buttons do not move and have no physical functions, and therefor cannot break, which is very good for longevity. Now as for performance, they massively improved the efficiency of this console over the previous models. Saying this console is quiet while operating is an understatement, my fizzing soda nearby made more noise than this thing while it was running! Even the power supply is quieter than before. So not only is the cooling system far more effective and silent, but the console and power supply generate far less heat overall compared to the previous models, even when I have it playing a high-definition game literally all day long! It never gets very hot, just a little warm at the exhaust. That and the fact that I have a huge hard-drive, flawless built-in wi-fi, and all the connection ports I could ever need make this a very well designed Xbox. I wont go into details about the software aspects, because the software is perfect of course and exactly the same as other models. Now for the Kinect.I must apologize to Microsoft at this point, because I was always under the impression that the Kinect was a stupid device . . .Until I started using it.This thing is beyond cool, its super sci-fi and really makes me feel like part of the future when I give my console voice commands, navigate menus like in Minority Report, and control characters with my arms. The included games are actually VERY fun, especially when you play with a partner. But they are not kidding when they say these games are a work-out. You should really take the game's advice and take a break when you feel tired, some of these games really whoop your a$$. I would also advise stretching before starting up a session on the kinect games. During the first day, I obviously didn't stretch and man did I feel sore the next day, but hey, that could just be me being out of shape. The responsiveness of the kinect isn't perfect of course, but it is far better than I was expecting. All in all this console bundle was worth every penny and I am extremely satisfied.

I am a huge fan of PS3 and I was very satisfied with PS3 Move games. But my wife really wanted the Dance Central. So after a year or so of convincing, I finally gave in and bought 360 with Kinect.First if you are coming from PS3 world, and heard all the rumors that you have to sign up for Live Gold in order to use Xbox, it is not true. There is free version of Xbox Live and that is what we signed up for. During setup process, they push for you to sign up for paid version, just don't do it. You don't even have to sign for Live account, you can create a local profile. (We don't play online games, so we don't need Xbox Live Gold. If you play online games, then I think you have to sign up for Live Gold.)Second, get 250GB version, instead of 4GB. Dance Central 2 takes 3GB of space. Then there were bunch of updates for each game. So 4GB would fill up very soon. Now compared to PS3, the navigation on 360 is confusing. There are multiple profiles. There is Live ID, local profile ID, Kinect ID. Interface is ugly, and confusing. I am pretty sure it is on purpose to bring ads to you. This is the reason why I took one star off. However, what we really care about is the games. We tried Dance Central 2 & other free games with this bundle, and we are amazed. It detects our moves perfectly. Playing these games with no controller in hands feels so different and free. We already sold most of our PS3 move games. If it wasn't for MJ Experience, Fight: Lights Out, Uncharted, 3D games & movies and Bluray movies, we would have already sold PS3.I think this bundle for 350 is a great deal and absolutely worth it.

For Christmas I got my first XBOX 360 the holiday bundle and I absolutely love it. Just like my PS3 it has that nice matte finish which make fingerprints less visible. I was completely suprised on how much better this was compared to my PS3, prime example Call of Duty Black Ops 2 which I have copies for PS3 and now XBOX360. Those little things like visuals and blood splatter made it much more enjoyable on XBOX 360. The layout of the main page is much more interactive, took me awhile to get used to the layout and how to get around compared to the PS3 layout but I fould XBOX 360 definately gave you more for your money.Digital ContentI mainly got the digital content for the purpose of the three months the rest is just icing on the cake. Very easy to redeem, I have not redeemed the arcades yet I think I will just give them to someone who is interested. Along with the 10 amazon credit it was definately worth the 20 bucks.GamesForza 4 or the Essential Edition is a fun game they say it is not the full game but not much of a racing fan and since this is pretty much a free game no complaints here. I was glad this bundle came with skyrim though it is digital it is still the full game, I wanted to get it for PS3 but decided to pass and glad I did. Game looks great and works great aswell on the XBOX.OverallI am glad I was given this system finally could not be happier with this product. Very impressed with the appearance and performance of the system and a very happy customer

It's obviously a rip-off compared to the other knock off brands, but I will pay for quality any day. Cheaper brands don't allow the ability to play old Xbox games, but if you don't care about that, then buy one of the non-Microsoft ones. I prefer to stick with the brand of item that is made for it. Plus, for anyone that works in a non-computer related field, you NEVER get the full advertised amount of HDD (hard disk drive) space on the package. They sell this as 1000 megabytes = 1 gigabyte, which is false. 1024 MB = 1 GB. So take the total and multiply by 7% then subtract that number from the total. That is pretty standard across the board.Example 250 GB * .07 = 17.5 GB. Now take 250 - 17.5 = 232.5 so that is approximately what you ACTUALLY will be able to use after the operating system uses its share. Just an FYI.****UPDATE****People are saying that this is not an authentic Microsoft drive. I call Horse Pucky on all of that. THis is as Microsoft as DOS and User Account Control. This IS a legit Microsoft product. Do not be swayed by people that don't know what they are talking about!! Plus the deal going on as of 3/14/13 is a steal. Unless you want to spring the $130 for the 320GB drive, it isn't worth it.....even with the Batman Lego game.Just my thoughts.

I'm a casual gamer so I own a lot of games but don't have much interest as far as downloading games to play so the 250 GB drive is more than perfect for me. My previous X-box was the older model with the 80GB storage and I may have filled 75% of that with the downloadable content, music and saved games I had stored on it and since I still purchase all my games on disc format with no intention of purchasing via download anytime soon I'm pretty sure I'll never reach anything close to the amount of space this drive gives me (I currently have 199 GB free after everything transferred). I got mine used and it works perfectly and only cost me $60 (they're well over $100 new or used in most places) and this is for the actual Microsoft brand model. There are generic brand models on the market for far less but the reason I didn't go after one of those (other than shaky reviews) is that the generic model hard drives make your original X-box games incompatible with your X-box 360 system. For me that is a huge problem as I still play original X-box games such as the Grand Theft Auto series, Max Payne and BloodRayne on occasion.Another plus is that it is very easy to install as the slim system has a door on one of the sides that opens up and you just pop it in like you would an old school game cartridge or changing the ink on your printer. Once you turn the system on it walks you through any other processes that needs to be done.In turn as long as you're not a hardcore game downloader this is well worth it as this has more than enough space for save games, X-box Live Apps, music and game ad-ons and probably will be the last hard drive you will need for the life of your system.

I purchased this hard drive with the goal of being able to play compatible original XBox games on my XBox 360 Slim. In order to do that, you need a hard drive for the 360s. Be forewarned, however, that the hard drive you use MUST have the correct specs to play the original XBox games. I purchased the 250GB hard drive from an Amazon seller and my 360s still wouldn't play the old games. I spent 1-2 hours on the phone with MS Tech Support and we tried everything in the book. No use. Finally, they said to send the 360s in and they will check it out. They sent it back saying they found no issue. Finally, I went to Best Buy and bought a new 320GB hard drive and - finally! - I could play Halo and Halo 2 on my 360s. I don't know if all 250GB hard drives have this issue or if it was just because I bought it from a third party Amazon seller. But, it clearly was a problem with the hard drive. It needs to have some sort of firmware or emulator software that MS installs on it. It was missing from this hd, so I had to get a new one. I suggest you buy from Microsoft or a reputable retailer.

I had the original XBOX back in the early 2000s. Bought a first generation 360 a few years later (which had a fatal "RROD" out of the box but I returned it for another one, which also ultimately had the same fatal hard drive error after the warranty period). Anyway after a year without an XBOX (how did I survive?) I purchased this bundle.I had to buy a XBOX data transfer cable (craigslist) in order to move over my profiles/information from my dead 360 to the internal hard drive of this console but once I had that the wizard made the transfer painless. The Kinect is cool, but buggy at times (I mean it is still a Microsoft product after all). Most of my problem is with voice command. My wife is from Mexico and you can FORGET about Kinect recognizing her voice/accent but it also has a hard time understanding me and, at times, is activated by someone talking on the television. Both games (Carnival Games is a download) are fun to play and my legs were surprisingly tired/sore after a few rounds of jumping over and squatting under obstacles in Kinect Adventures (but I am a fatty).Anyway, I'm glad to have an XBOX back in my living room.

This bundle has amazing value! Amazon once again offers excellent prices compared to all other stores, and I am very pleased with the purchase. Just received it today and paired it up with my new Samsung 40" LED 120 Hertz TV (also bought from Amazon), and it looks stunning. However, there is a small problem/defect that I am sure will continue to bother me every time I switch on my Xbox. When I first opened it and set it up, I played with it for about 40-45, and everything seemed perfect. I shut it down for a couple of hours, and came back later to play with it again when everyone was asleep (in complete silence), and that is when I discovered this slight, yet very annoying squeaky sound made by the left analog stick. I tried to ignore it by increasing the volume on the TV, but man, that noise is seriously bothersome. Every time I'm navigating through the menu, I'm forced to use the D-Pad instead of the Analog Stick, I can't bear that squeaky noise. It's like I'm torturing a rat while it squeaks in pain -- may be I am exaggerating a little bit, but the noise is very noticeable and cannot be ignored. For this, I am highly disappointed. Especially because everything else -- the system, the game, the wireless steering wheel, are all just perfect. I wish Amazon would work something out and replace the controller alone, because everything else works perfectly fine. It's a minor defect, but ruins the overall experience to a great extent. I hope I get some sort of response from Amazon to this review soon.

Bought it for my birthday, more or less just for Skyrim. The downloadable token alone makes the deal worth it, I hardly plan on playing Forza considering I have always been a Need for Speed fan above all other racing games, but whatever a free cookie is better than no cookies so i'm not really complaining.Compatibility issues with Skyrim on the Playstation 3 were really the winning push that compelled me to return once again to the Xbox 360. I would honestly resume upgrading my computer, considering I already own skyrim on Steam, however with the introduction of Windows 8 and the PC gaming community slowly in decline due to piracy, lack of developer support and in general the fact that a lot of games being made today are crappy ports of console games to PC, it makes it extremely unnecessary to have a gaming rig in the first place in the 21st century.Regardless, considering the individual price for each specific product, the Xbox 360 4GB running at 199.99 fresh out of the box, Forza and Skyrim 34.99 each respectively, the hard drive alone hovering close to 30.00 (not OEM which means no backwards compatibility), this really is the best deal out for the Xbox if you don't plan on doing anything kinect related. All things considered for the total price of the console before tax and shipping you're saving about 30 bucks. In my case a little less considering Forza is junk to me but who knows, I may turn out to like it after all, we will see.

This product is great! I received the 4 GB console during that "buy a laptop get an Xbox" deal that Microsoft does every year. I needed a hard drive though, because those 4 gigs were gone within the first week. So i was looking at the expensive Microsoft HDD and also the cheap as dirt generic HDD's. I wanted to play original Xbox games like Halo:CE,(needs actual Microsoft licensed HDD to play classic Xbox games for some reason...) so i decided to go with this item. the only problem was, that it was expensive brand new! ($120 at the time I purchased) So i decided to look at refurbs though the market place. i found one for $80 from a seller with a very good rating. It was a gamble that paid off. I received it super fast, even with standard shipping. It was packaged very well, and came with a seller refurb warranty.(Awesome!) The product itself was very easy to add to the xbox, and was read almost instantly! I have had it for about 4 months now and it still works great! So i give the advice to buy refurbished, but check that they are selling the legit HDD and that the seller isn't a stinker. I 100% recommend this item. P.S. need the licensed Microsoft HDD to download things off of the Xbox marketplace

Got this for christmas...and i have to say that im really impressed with new redo of the xbox360 its great!i was without a 360 for a while my other older model final broke down(2 of them over 3 years with the protection plan) .and i had to wait a bit so my playstation 3 took up the slack for my next gen gaming needs ..im glad i waited because the new 360 "slim" is perfect! if your looking to get a replacement 360 or just getting into the awesomeness for the first time..this is the way to go..lets be honest, this is how the 360 should have been designed from the start...you can tell they took some tips from the playstation 3 with this one... with all the extra fans and vents.. which were really needed..i love the touch sensors and the gloss finish (again ala ps3) the extra fans are really helpful and are so quiet and work well that hot air is pushed away at lightspeed.. on my old 360 it always sounded like a jet engine.. the 250 gb hard drive is also a nice touch and i like how its actually inside the system at the bottom now (again like the ps3) you'll need to get a inexpensive data transfer cable to move all of your games, downloads, etc from your old xbox to the new slim because they have different hard drives... ive read that you can mod the hard drive though ..but i wouldnt do it, because you might mess it up..and your out of luck.. For the people that dont think they need the hard drive..THINK AGAIN..BECAUSE YOU DO! if now now, you'll need it eventually.. if you want to use the Xbox live service for online gaming etc or even to play some particular games (halo reach is a good example ) a dinky little flash drive attatched is NOT going to help you out..sure the 4gb is good for saving your level..thats about it..pony up and spring for the drive...or get it with the system...the controller is the same awesome one like before but only in black..and yep you can still use the same battery packs (play and charge kit also) it also comes with a month free of the xbox live gold service..whats there not to love?the "ghostbuster trap" power brick is smaller as well.. but still remember the 360 still gets really warm ( then again so does the ps3) so keep the system and power brick in a area where air can get to it...bottom line the new xbox360 "slim" system is worth the upgradenow, if youll excuse me..im off to play some halo reach online :) you try finding games like that on the wii..i dont think so :)
