This webcam is easy to install and works great with Skype. You can mount it on your monitor or set it on your desktop. It does not have a lot of bells and whistles, but it works great! I would recommend it to anyone.

I bought this webcam a few days ago, based on the strength of its positive reviews. Not sure if I got a defective example or if the thing is actually THIS bad.It WON'T white-balance! If I move -even slightly- while I'm on camera, the image washes completely out, and I become a faint outline on a screen that is totally blown out.I'm sitting about 2 feet away from the camera. It is in my cubicle at the office, with plenty of overhead flourescent lighting (no significant light source behind me, however). These are far from "challenging" light conditons for a webcam.The camera is percariously balanced atop the frame of my 17" LCD monitor. It sits just above my eye-level, and is angled downward slightly. I have some tape on the base of the unit, to ensure that it doesn't fall (yeah, tape! it looks real "classy")...When the image washes out, I have to hold a piece of white paper over the lens for several seconds - that's all I've been able to figure out, in order to get it to "reset" itself. Then, it is okay until I move - at which point it immediately washes out again. Total crap! This thing is getting returned!Regardless of whether I got a defective one, this design is very poor. There is no way to clip it to the upper corner of a flat panel monitor - unless the border/frame around your screen is about 3 inches wide (otherwise, when you open the bracket on this thing, the camera and bracket hang down over the viewable part of your screen and blocks a portion of it). Overall, a bad design and poor quality (or maybe poor quality CONTROL - I can't believe that the white-balance problem I'm having is "normal"). Either way, I'd say spend your money on a different brand. I'm going to try one from Logitech next.

I ordered this cam for family use to communicate via Skype. The picture was so clear compaired to the cam built in my laptop that Iordered two more for family members via drop shippment. One was delivered in short time but, the other has yet to arrive. I contacted the supplier via Amazon and they immediately shipped another and said they were sorry for the trouble. Amazon are good people to deal with. Well pleased with results and web cam is just what I needed. Price is very good too.

I just recently started using Skype and it struck me immediately that I was really enjoying the experience of being able to see my cousin and even her house on my screen. She, on the other hand, seemed slightly uncomfortable looking down at her feet or out the window, obviously bored of staring at my static profile picture. Clearly I needed to get a webcam, and so the search began.I finally chose this Microsoft LifeCam based on the picture and sound quality evident on some of the YouTube videos that people have kindly posted. This camera seems to handle low-light conditions really well and the quality of both picture and sound is great (it has a built-in microphone). The wide-screen picture format is handy if you decide to use it to shoot video and it offers HD resolution. The software worked instantly on my oldish pc running Vista and it interacts flawlessly with Skype.The clip can be moulded into a range of shapes; at first I shaped it like a little stand but my cats soon showed me the error of my ways and I found that it sits perfectly well on the top of my LG monitor, despite the fact that the screen has a curved shape. There are many webcams available at many times the cost of this one, but for me it makes no sense to spend more when you can get this quality at a very low price. Really happy with it.

I am using this as a webcam for streaming live video.Does not support 720p HD as advertised. The maximum resolution is 640x480 and it has trouble handling that on demand.Software is popping up resource limit messages when in use. No software comes with it other than drivers that are downloaded from MS when it's initially plugged in.I thought with Microsoft's name it would be good. Don't waste your money if your expecting good performance.

Good plug-and-play driverless camera, works under Win7 x64. Image quality and resolution is pretty good, mic is good too. It also has the indicator showing whether or not camera (or microphone) is currently in use by OS/software, which is also a big plus. Although it would be nice to have two separate in-use indicators, Paranoid Parrot inside me can relax a little :)

Decided to get a webcam so that I could talk to the kids and see my grandson as they live on the other side of the state. Did some comparison shopping and found that this camera fit all my needs according to the spec sheet. Price was comfortably in the mid-range and I bought it. Warning on purchase was that I could expect some delay in shipping but found that not to be true for my order. It came in ahead of schedule and I was able to conect and go with no trouble at all. I highly recommend both the product and the seller.

This item was on sale for quite a bit, and one of my friends owns this exact one. I was in need (wanted) of a webcam, and this satisfies my needs pretty well.Pros:-Great quality-Inexpensive (on sale)-Cool featuresCons:-I find it hard to mount it on my monitor, but I was able to make it stay where I wanted it to with a little help from a bull dog clip. (I guess it's not that much of a con)Comments:-This is an amazing webcam, I highly suggest it to anyone that doesn't need anything super fancy. It works well with monitors with a thin top.

The camera is great. However, the software is very limited. The software easily installed on my Windows 7 operating system. For webcam software I expected it to be able to show other digital camera views. For example, on my laptop, it does not recognize the built in webcam. It also does not pick up my digital camera from my microscope. I was hoping for a larger view but cannot enlarge the view to fill the screen. Love the camera. The software, not so much. It's barely adequate.

This is my first use of a video cam and I am happy with the purchase.Works well , setup was easy, no hassles.I have used this on skype about 8 times so far.Audio is good and the camera is easy to aim mounted on the top of the laptop screen.I shopped by reading reviews starting with lowest price .When I got to this one it seemed an obvious decision.

For less than 30 bucks at Amazon, this product provides excellent video, very good audio, and a reasonable drain on your computer's resources.WHY ARE YOU DRAGGING MY COMPUTER' RESOURCES INTO THIS REVIEW?Because nothing uses more computer resources than processing a video signal, especially a high definition signal. If you have a high-performance computer, then this HD-3000 webcam will perform at full capability.If your computer has limited abilities, the webcam will still work fine, but you will have to cut the webcam resolution back to something the computer can handle.DOES THE COMPETITION HAVE ANYTHING BETTER?Not really. I also have a Logitech 9000-series webcam. Its huge software bundle uses an outrageous amount of my computer's resources resulting in degraded images and even loss of video motion.The MS HD-3000 is meeting my needs. The competition is sitting in a drawer.

I've been using this on my Mac for several months now and It's actually the perfect camera for a variety of reasons. I'll just list them off as it seems simpler to pin point the pros and cons.1. The depth of field is excellent. You can be up close or far back and you'll still get a good, well-lit image. I believe the maker was shooting for a lens that would give you a nice picture in a variety of lighting conditions and they have achieved it.2. It's flexible enough to be wrapped or temporarily mounted onto anything that has an edge. This is ideal for using this device on the go. I found myself using this on the road many times via Skype, at School and elsewhere.3. It has an excellent microphone that picks up the speakers voice and somehow tries to manage to focus on the voice rather than the background noise.4. You can install the software and drivers if you want, but I just plugged it in on my Mac and it was ready to go and ran perfectly with every app I had that required a camera.5. The blue light letting you know the image is 'active' is a plus and it isn't intrusive or an eye scorching LED that requires a piece of tape.I'm hard pressed to find anything negative to say about this. I think some people see the HD on the packaging and they think they can do all kinds of high-end stuff with this like making edited movies in Final Cut Pro or something silly along those lines. Everything has its limitations, especially at this price point. This is an excellent stationary camera which does exactly what it's supposed to....

Technologically this is a very good camera. It has great sound and picture, is easy to connect, is compatible with Windows 7, and has additional options if you choose to use them. The bad part is it provides no good way to mount to your monitor.

This camera was easy to install and works very well. No software conflicts and good clear picture. The box indicates that this camera does NOT have a microphone, but once it was installed and I chose Lifecam as my audio source in set up, it DOES have a mic.I gave it a 4 stars because of the inaccurate labeling on the box and the trouble it caused in setting it up.

The camera meets my needs for an occasional use basic web camera. The design is pretty bad, though. The way it attaches to a laptop lid is not adjustable or secure. There is a swivel mechanism, but it is not anchored to the part with the clamp - makes no sense.

The Microsoft LifeCam HD-3000 is really cool. The lighting inside my house is not too bright and I tried video chatting with an ipad as well as with the inbuilt web cam on my laptop. However the image was mostly blurry and not bright. With the Microsoft LifeCam HD-3000 the image is much brighter and of superb HD quality. It serves my needs perfectly. No installation hassles, I just plugged it in and my laptop recognized it immediately.The cord is sufficiently long and the whole arm is adjustable, so you can place it on the top of your laptop or sitting flat on your desk. The head of the web cam even moves side to side so its easy to adjust to any angle.Overall, extremely happy with my purchase!

This cam has a decent picture and a pretty good noise canceling mic. I use it for Skype and internet calling all the time and nobody ever has a problem hearing me even with my loud heater that is between it and myself. Good price and can't complain about the quallity at this point.

Great deal, and super reasonable. The picture is crystal clear! I bought another camera in the price range a couple of years ago for my mom and the picture was so blurry, you could only see the shadow. Now I can see everything in her house, even when the curtain is blowing in the wind.

Got this for my inlaws who are not very tech savy - we moved far away and they wanted to see us - they were able to install this and skype in less than an hour - set up their account with Skype and log on and we were talking in that time - all you have to do is plug it in and it does all the work - it even auto focus's - and it looks great from this end - they look very clear. Great for the price and still easy to use - would recommend this webcam!

For the price, this is one great little webcam. I use it for Google Hangouts and it really does the job - it's clear and smooth and works remarkably well in my low light environment. The audio pick up is very good too - I actually remote to my PC via my Android phone (using PhoneMyPC) and "listen" into my house. I can hear several rooms; great to check on the babysitter or just to make sure everything is ok. As usual, these Microsoft cameras require a big bulky LifeCam software installer but it is really the only negative thing I have to say about it.

I'm old, so I like simple and efficient. This little camera not only meets my criteria, but it works! Just like it's supposed to! Amazing! I just plugged it in (USB- nothing simpler than that) and it set it self up in my computer, and I turned on skype and had fun with my grandkids. Great picture-my grandson kept trying to kiss the screen! Great sound, even the squabbling came through loud and clear. This is technology that I can appreciate.
