Wouldn't stop freezing as soon as i installed on my average windows xp laptop. that without even being online, just testing on my computer. i am not a very picky shopper and this is my first return from amazon. i guess if you have a brand new computer with lots of memory and a super fast connection, the image is good. for me, it was a waste of time.

USB driver is not reliable - it shares this defect with my Logitech 5000. If this camera is plugged in, my Abit wireless card doesn't detect. Otherwise, the Abit works perfectly. Both Microsoft and Logitech need to fix their drivers - they just don't work.Video noise is more evident than with the Logi 5000. The NX-6000 doesn't offer echo cancellation as does Logitech, but it doesn't seem to need it as much. Mounting is not flexible - your LDC panel had better not be more than 1/4" thick. It has a 2' USB cable. There's a wide-angle lens, best for laptop mounting.My keyboard, mouse, external drive, flash drive, and compact-card reader all work fine on USB - why can't Microsoft or Logitech make a video USB driver that works? Microsoft can develop a complex new operating system - Vista - but they can't make a USB driver that works reliably?

Easy to set up and use. Works flawlessly with MSN chat. (the button on top launches MSN CHAT) But mostly liked the fact that it is so much clearer than my Creative Live cam which is pretty good also.

I purchased originally a Logitech STB Camera. The drivers just weren't compatible with zone alarm and slowed down my other machine.The picture from this camera just doesn't compare with Logitech. And the lowlight quality of this camera is very bad.On the brighter side it is microsoft and it is compatible with whatever MS system or software you are running.Easy install eminently compatible but dismal in all other respects.I have nothing against Microsoft and for the price I expected much more.

The NX-6000 is the best laptop webcam I have ever used, period!The design allows for true portability, however, I would have preferred a detachable cord.Microsoft's every improving software also makes it a real value.

I just got high speed internet so I thought it would be fun to keep in touch with long distance reletives with Windows Live Messenger and a webcam. Unfortunatly I bought a MS LifeCam VX-6000. The issues with this webcam are:- The LifeCam software that comes with the webcam is not compatable with Windows Live Messenger. If Windows Live Messenger is installed the LifeCam software will not work at all. If Windows Live Messenger is removed from the system, then the LifeCam software will work. The MS technican I called on this reconized the problem and recommended I use Yahoo instead.- When using the LifeCam with Windows Live Messenger the echo is so bad it is hard to understand what is being said. The help search for Windows Live Messenger recommends headphones. Not an easy task when you want a family of 5 sharing in a webcam conversation.The video quality is OK. No problems there.I understand other webcam manufactures make webcams with noise canceling technology to eliminate the echo. Too bad I did not realize this before I wasted $70 on this one.

I bought two of these cameras. One for my mom and one for my family. Because we live so far away from each other, this will allow her to see her grandchildren more.Setup was fairly easy, though long. I'd suggest using the Microsoft Live Messenger as the video chat client. It is one button to start to Video call. Just select the person you want to chat with and it takes care of every thing else.We used the camera over Christmas and the kids just loved telling grandma everything they got, and also getting to show her as well. We even used a cellular data card (grandma was on DSL), and the video hardly missed a beat. We didn't use the audio though; the audio had somewhat of a noticable lag. So we used the handsfree cellphone. I think we were really stressing out that mobile data connection.All in all, this is a great little device. I really like the way the lense retracts as to keep the dust off it.

I have not tried any other webcam so can not draw a comparision. I always go for some high-end stuff may it be mobile or laptop or this webcam. This one is very sleek , excellent quality ( need high speed internet at both ends ) , easy to install & has software driven settings (zoom,pan,tilt etc). It clips just fine on my laptop screen. But still its priced a bit higher.I tried this with Skype, Yahoo & Windows Live messenger. It gave the best video performance with Windows Live ( based on comments from other party ). Microphone is good but if you are using laptop speakers, need to keep the volume down as it is not good at Echo cancellation.

I ordered this cam a week ago,ive used it 2 days now, and i am happy with it. the only thing is that, if you have the new window's vista, the cd that comes with the cam, dosent work. you have to go directly to microsoft's website, and download the software. the cam arrived earlier than they said it would. the company was very good at sending quickly. the cam show's very clear. this is the best cam i've owned. i found this cam on this site for $14.99 in new condition, you cant beat that! i would recommend this product to other's who are looking for a good quality cam,and dont want to spend alot of money.

This litle unit does everything it advertises. It mounts above my flat panel monitor with a little Velcro and has great resolutioun and sound quality. The manual tilt feature allows you to have the monitor at the desired angle and then center the picture as necessary. In addition it sports a good set of electronic adjustments for Zoom, Brightness, Contrast, Hue, Gamma, Low Light,etc.I bought one for my daughter (she received it from Amazon in less than 24 hours!!) and now we Use Windows Live Messanger video calls instead of the telephone, and get to play a little backgammon as a bonus.Great camera at a good price.

The install was easy and it has been trouble free. Everybody has been complimentary of the video & audio quality.I use it exclusively with Skype and have not installed the Microsoft update. I understand that the update causes problems if you use Skype, so I haven't bothered with it.

The camera worked OK, but installation on my non-Vista one-month-old Dell Inspiron 9400 was very difficult. The software installation failed numerous times. Finally, after about eight attempts, I read on a help website to reinstall Logitech cam drivers as I had previously installed a Logitech webcam. That and a download of the Lifecam v.1.3 software finally did the trick. I used the cam 48 hours before my system started inexplicably crashing with strange error messages. After several hours on the phone with Dell support and allowing them remote access to my computer, they determined the entire Windows O/S had to be reinstalled, and they faulted the cam for all the problems. I cannot recommend strongly enough AGAINST buying this webcam.

This works great with windows live. I had a difficult time and couldn't get it to work with yahoo messenger; I received many firewall error messages. No issues on windows live audio and video is good.

After installing my new LifeCam VX-6000, I am disappointed in some of the areas of functioning and ease of use. Where do I start?1. The cam will not "stay in one place" - it moves too easily2. I am not happy with the way the "controls" for setting up a clearer picture; There is not enough information easily obtainable to help make adjustments.3. In the middle of a Window's Live Messenger video call to my son in Osceola, Wisconsin, it stopped!4. I cannot get it to work properly with my instant messaging. My computer is a new PowerSpec Intel Pentium 4 with Windows XP Home Edition.I should not be having ANY trouble, after 4 weeks I am extremely disappointed...

Very easy to install, the connection is reasonably easy to make with another unit. The video quality is ok, but not like you're watching TV, for sure. A unit that follows your head as it moves might be a better choice for heavy users. But so far I'm very pleased.

I bought this camera several months ago to video chat with my brother who lived overseas. The camera has a great picture and set up was some what quick.I installed the software and drivers on several computers. I recommend this on a newer computers with fast processors. My 8 year old Thinkpad installlation was painfully slow and it crashed constantly. Same was true for my P3 1 ghz PC. On my new PC (P4 2.4 ghz) installation was fast and and trouble free. It is now used exclusively on this PC.Pictue quality is really good and sound is good also. I don't have a sound feed back problem from my desktop speakers. The kids love the software which allow you to superimpose graphics on the video. Software is also intuitive and easy enough for my 6 and 9 year ols to use.Although it does have some problems it is a solid product which should offer years of service

I needed a webcam pretty much right away so headed down to best possible and got the unit for $100 plus tax. It was probably worth it since I saved myself the shipping for the return.For starters I want to say I am not a Microsoft hater, actually I bought the unit thinking I would get better quality and support. What I found out is that the webcam is pretty useless if you have an IBM Thinkpad since the clip is not adjustable, in fact preventing you from mounting the web cam on your screen display.The install seems complicated, you need to download and install MS Live messenger before proceeding with the actual hardware installation.Based on my findings the NX-6000 is not worth the steep price considering the complex installation and the inability to adjust the clip for a given laptop. However, I am impressed with its posted specifications.

This camera offers a decent image and a lot of interesting functions. But if you only need video conference online, probably this camera is way too "good". $40 one can also offer you same quality. Extra features won't help in online video conference.Another thing is it's not friendly to thinkpad. The hook on the back is a little bit too small. T60 is barely OK, T43 and below model users, forget it.

I admit I was shopping by price. My friend had the bought lesser version that has INCREDIBLE clarity and sharpness. So I thought if I bought the "better" more expensive version, it would be EVEN BETTER. Well for some reason. It isnt. They look identical except mine is more grey or something. I had already thrown out the box and everything before I realized all this so I didnt get a chance to return it. But oh well. I guess its ok. If I had the chance, I would had bought the same one she got instead. And saved some money in doing so.

The camera is excellent - but: I never got the sound to work. My guess is that there is a Windows-internal conflict of interrupts. The support software is so without any diagnostics that I was forced to buy an external microphon. Now I hae a pretty picture and good sound but two extra cables running over my desk.

I bought this camera to replace a Logitech QuickCam Fusion. I'd been having problems with Skype, all of which seemed related to the Fusion.This camera's image in significantly better than the Fusion's in my (not so great) office lighting. That's quite an accomplishment, considering the Fusion is a current product and sells for three times the price of this camera. I recommend it particularly for those who want to video-chat with their away-from-home kids. It's inexpensive enough to buy one for each.

I disagree strongly with the reviews before. My daughter owns a MS Livecam 3000 for much less in price and it beats this one by far. The picture is very smooth yes, BUT the colors are terrible and even manually there is no way to improve it, faces look magenta all over. The two megapixels are for nothing because if you choose anything higher than 800x600 resolution you will get a delay of up to seconds on your screen within the LiveCam program and even with videos captured on your harddisk you can see this effect, so the higher resolution is worth nothing. This is with a brandnew Core2Duo machine 1Gig of mem so it is not the speed of the computer in my view.I would keep the cam if it would be cheaper say in a range of 30 bucks but not for this money.

The video is great, the only downside is the manual focus. The sound is clear but generates a lot of feedback.
