The camera set up was fairly straight forward and the video quality is great. There is some feedback on the laptop, but this may be because of the laptop's microphone. There needs to be troubleshooting guide for this issues.

This webcam has opened new vistas for me and my family. I never really phantomed how much enjoyment we get out of seeing the person we are talking too.The only small problem I had was adjusting the web cam to stay above my screen. Could use a better method of gripping the cam to the screen on my desktop and my laptop.

We purchased 2 Web Cams so that we could "visit" with our new granddaughter who lives far from our home. My son and I both found it easy to install and the picture is so clear that I ordered yet another Cam for the other grand kids who live in our town. It's just so nice to be able to "visit" with them via the computer when you can't be there in person. I would definitely recommend this to others.

This is a nice camera and works very well with Skype. However, it is wide angle, and claims to have a digital zoom feature. Unfortunately, the digital zoom works only with the Microsoft application and is not part of the basic camera controls, so it cannot be used when the camera is used with Skype.

Received the cam in a timely fashion.Installation was painless.We've been using it to webcam with family (grandma/grandpa)the video quality is ok for that purpose, the colors are a little off,our biggest gripe, is the Camera's microphone doesnt work. I don't know if its a camera problem or a software problem.... but everything Microsoft always seems to have some sorta bug which takes hours to figure out...overall it gets the job done... we just cam and use our landline speaker phone to talk...

For the money, this is a good webcam. It is not the highest quality, but if you are just using it for Skype or Livecam, it works fine. Very easy to install.

The camera's software would not install on my laptop that runs Windows Vista. I installed it on another computer with XP, but the camera would not work in Skype due to an "Unknown Error." Installing the latest NX-6000 drivers available online and latest version of Skype did not help. The microphone works well on Skype calls. The camera works fine in a video application that came with it. I haven't yet tried it in any other IM application. The packaging asserts that it is "compatible with all leading instant messaging software." This does not appear to be the case, but maybe I will be able to work it out later. Any ideas?

I have had a modest amount of experience with webcams over the years and in all honesty, I tend to lean toward Logitech as the better producer of these peripherals. That said I did not find this cam without merit when doing a cost benefit analysis. It performs well on the basis of what you should expect for a comparable cam in the low price range.Good- installs easily (I didn't notice any mallware or spam installation and my boot up time did not seem to suffer any from the install)- 640 x 480 resolution is fine unless you plan on going full screen- it is mobile and the flexible stand works well for desktop of monitor top placement- works well with Windows Live Messenger (one would hope so, right?)- configuration is a snap for defaults, and advanced settings are easily accessible- don't forget the priceBad- 640 x 480 resolution does not standup to being blown up to full screen in this age of 1280 x 1024 or better resolution- microphone seems weak, capturing very low volume, even from a laptop positioned about 2 feet from my mouth- low light is not all it is cracked up to be (in particular the shading is not what I would consider natural)Overall assessment: for the price this is certainly worth considering if looking for a basic, low cost webcam. When compared with the built in cam on my HP Pavilion laptop, the built in wins out in clarity and color, but loses in mobility. When compared to the Logitech Quickcam Pro 9000 that my wife has on her desktop the LifeCam is not worthy (but then you get what you pay for).

I gave these to all my family for christmas. they installed them and now we get to see each other when we talk. which is great because my mom I only see twice a year. great product. picture is clear. we use g-mail.

Installation was easy, though it does put a few unwanted extra's on the PC. Picture quality and sound are good for a low-er end camera. The flexible base works surprisingly well. I don't know why they bother to make them in colors as the blue one I have is almost entirely black. I experieinced no conflicts with Win XP and a basic test on Win 7 also went well. Not recommended for those who desire high quality images but good for average use. I use it primarily with motion detection software for security/home monitoring and have no complaints.

I bought this webcam so when I'm away from my family I can still chat with them 'face-to-face'. I didn't want to haul around an orb or other awkward cam so this seemed like the perfect fit.I will get this camera working, I don't doubt that. But it has been a huge headache up to this point. My windows 7 RC Desktop hates the thing and despite using the newest drivers available, the computer refuses to do anything with the camera images. Meanwhile, my dell mini is having its OS reinstalled to fit the bloated driver/software package. Once I get it working flawlessly on my laptop I may revise this review but at this point it has lost 2stars on frustration alone.The cord is indeed short (which is okay by me as it will be used primarily with my laptop). The clip that attaches to the laptop monitor would be incompatible even with most flat screen desktop displays. The picture has some weird white balance issues that may be fixed once I get the software and camera running consistently.

This is a great little camera for the price; so much better than than the one on my laptop. It is perfect for using with Skype. Easy to install and easy to use.

Not a bad little gizmo. I wanted a webcam with autofocus and I got it. I'd love to have paid half as much, but just remember, we've got all of this great technology for $60.

I only use this camera with Skype for video chat. The location is in low-lighting environment in a room where it is using soft-lighting and not day-light type of lighting. This camera works fine in terms of my expectation for low-light video chat via Skype. You can see some grains due to low lighting (I also used the low-light function of this camera), but that was expected. This was way better than my old logitech webcam from about7 years ago. The only thing I do not like is the button on top of the camera. I tend to hit that sensitive button everytime I try to move the camera angles. I also don't have any problems with driver/software installations using Windows XP. All and All, its a good buy in my scenario.

This camera works well and has good picture and sound quality. However, mounting it on my laptop was a pain. Since many laptops are trying to be thinner and thinner, this camera only clips onto laptops whose screens are at least a 1/4" thick. For a similar price and the best mounting system I have ever seen on any camera try the LifeCam HD instead.

Needed a cam to Skype with our son while he is in Iraq for a year. Installation and setup went without a hitch, picture quality is great...it's all the cam / mic we needed. Bought us one and upon installation and first use bought two more for our daughters to talk to their brother also. Mounts fine on a laptop screen as long as the laptop is stationary.

I've never had a webcam before, but I'm using it now for google chat and it works great. The quality isn't amazing, but the sound is pretty good.

Bought this for Christmas for my 62 year old Dad so he could Skype with us. We had it assembled and set up for him within 7 minutes. Easy for him to use, no problems yet!

this webcam does work with windows xp, however, the "microsoft" software that is included which runs all the extras doesn't. after checking on the web, I found that many other people are having this same problem and we seem to be completely ignored when we email microsoft. it works, but at the bare minimum of its reported capability. I bought this because another I tried didn't work at all. I would look at a different make/model for a webcam.

It looks great with good quality image and video, I find difficult to fit it some where on top of my notebook as its channel doesn't fit with my laptop width. One of my friend has been using it for a while and he advised me about this cam, but it was a bit expensive when I checked with other vendors like above 50CAD. But I got it from Amazon for less than 30CAD.

This is a quality webcam with good resolution, focus, and low-light performance. Color balance is not very good at incandescent light or warm compact-fluorescent light (which is most commonly sold), but otherwise webcam performs well. It can also make various animated faces out of your face image through the supplied Microsoft software, something kids and kids-at-heart might like, though this feature requires a fairly fast computer. The webcam worked with Windows Live Messenger and Google Video Chat with no problem. It has a flexible base that you can bend to place or attach it onto different objects. I haven't tried its USB microphone, used my built-in laptop microphone instead. It has a blue privacy light that lets people know they are on camera. Probably it is not the best webcam out there but yet a very good one, and it is certainly recommended if you can find it for around $30.

This is the 3rd VX-5000 I have purchased, so I am pleased with it. One for my daughter in AZ, one for me and the last one for one of my sons in NH. The one in NH arrived yesterday without any software. A real disappointment, we had all hoped to see each other on Christmas.

So I have used this Camera on vista and Win7, but both I had some major driver issues. It has GREAT picture quality, the frame rate is average, and sound rocks! Unfortunately, it looses a star because in order to use it I must unplug all my jump drives!! I can use the camera when transferring files, it sucks! But other then this, it is great.

The LifeCam was simple to install and works great. It was quite difficult to remove from its package though.
