I loved this camera so much for myself, that I bought one for my husband. His worked so well, I bought one for my sister and one for my brother. We use the camera with Skype to stay in touch since we are scattered around the country. It works great and is super easy to install.

To test the microphone out, I went on xfire with my friends and everyone actually understood everything I said, some even complimented my mic. Honestly, I never expected it to work on messenger but i'm glad i can talk to people instead of basic typing. The most important thing about a webcam however, is the picture. This webcam captures video at 1.3MP, so you don't ever have to worry about having a stretched mosaic. It comes with a control applet allowing you to use digital zoom to make things appear bigger. Personally, I find this to be a cheap way of providing a zoom function. One nice thing is the low light sensitivity, which when turned on makes it VERY easy to see in the dark. Every product has at least one annoying feature, and the LifeCam was no exception. The single most annoying feature on the LifeCam is the button on top of the camera. The Microsoft LifeCam VX-5000 is available directly from Microsoft. MSRP: $49.95, what needs improvement: Annoying button placement, high price, and non-motorized movement. webcam got a 7.6 because I compared it to others in its price. I think it should be in the $20-$30. To customers looking for a webcam this one is a good deal so i would rate it 9/10 because i found it simple to use and install.

I don't know why but this is not working fully with my Skype on my windows computer.I have a mac too but when I try just to use the Camera (Because MacBook already got microphone inside)it shut off the Skype in 5 seconds...So I am not really recommending this product.But the Logistic one! They do greater job!

This camera costs almost twice as much as the VX-3000, and it is debatable whether it offers enough for the price difference to be worthwhile. The VX-3000 is a very good buy and no doubt will make most average users very happy. That said, however, the VX-6000 does offer superior quality for those who want it, and still offers a better quality/price ratio than comparable Logitech or Creative products. Image is EXTREMELY crisp, and many of my on-line chat pals have commented that they were impressed. The wide-angle lens is also a big plus (in fact, it was what made me decide to pay more and get it), and it works well with little light.On the down side, two things:1) The absolutely irritating "Windows Live Call" button that gets easily pressed by accident and pops up Windows Live Messenger (still widely known as MSN Messenger). But there is an easy workaround:a. Rename the file "IcePick.exe" in the installed camera programs folder (usually, "C:\Program Files\Microsoft LifeCam") to something else.b. Create an EMPTY file (size 0 bytes) named "IcePick.exe" (for example, right-click on that folder's right pane in Windows Explorer, create a new empty text file and DON'T open it; then rename it and confirm that you want to change the extension).Step (a) disables the button already, but if you don't perform step (b), when you access the camera utility "Properties" window (to change exposure, brightness, etc.) the driver will reinstall itself (asking for the CD, etc.) and restore the original "IcePick.exe" undoing what you did. But after performing both steps, the button is dead. If you want to restore the functionality, just delete the empty "IcePick.exe" and rename the old file back to its original name.2) When lighting conditions change too suddenly (for example, when a brightly lit arm comes quickly closer to the camera) it may reset the feed and go dark for a second or two while the driver adjusts itself. Sometimes this can be annoying, and I don't know if there is a way to tweak the driver so that it doesn't adjust itself so often.Other than these two points, however, the VX-6000 one of the best webcams I have ever seen and I don't hesitate to recommend it. No camera is perfect and other models and brands certainly have their down sides, too. The ones I've found are tolerable, and pale in comparison with this product's excellent quality.A final tip: the driver on the CD is almost certainly outdated. [...]

This little gizmo is supposed to help us communicate via the web with grandparents, et al. And I suppose it does. But not very well. Unfortunately one must look into the camera and not at the screen when using it. If the user looks at the screen (to see and communicate with a friend/family) the friend/family on the other end will in turn see the user's face with downcast eyelids. Bummer.I've tried adjusting the camera, but the grip doesn't work well on my laptop. Instead of talking to the screen, I have to talk to the camera, which is a bit odd.Hopefully others have not experienced this problem.

I bought this for my daughter and it is the first web camera we've owned. It came quickly and was easy to install. No issues or problems with hardware or software. The picture quality looks really good to me, but we are new to this area.

We bought this camera to Skype with our son after the birth of our grandson. Very easy installation, clear picture, flexible mounting. Just a nice package and good value. It does not have the best resolution, but for our purposes and the price paid, it is very adequate.Not much else to say. Camera performs as advertised and Amazon's price is great.

When I ordered this webcam I was worried that I would not receive this item soon enough before my trip departure date. I placed my order on new year eve, I was astonished when I received the package on the 4th of January. Every thing works well with great quality.

Could not get software to install. Kept hanging up on the installation. Eventually downloaded newer version of software from internet. Camera seems pretty decent for the price, people I talk to say my voice is gurgled, but they have the same camera and their voice sounds fine on my computer. May be a defective microphone on my unit.

This webcam installed easily and started working right away. We use it primarily for video calling my in-laws in AZ and also between myself and my family while I am traveling. The video can get pixelated and choppy at times, but that is probably attributed more to the software and bandwidth than the camera. If you just view the video directly on the computer, it looks fine.

We have really enjoyed our VX-5000, and have encouraged our family members and friends to buy it. Great value. Seems to work better when using Windows Live instead of Skype (seems to react slower through Skype). Great quality, easy to use. Like the built-in microphone, too!

I bought two of these webcams, for me and my Navy son and his family so we could connect over the miles. I could not get Windows Live to work once I got us both loaded, so I deleted all the Windows programming and we now use Skype. It works just great and my young granddaughters are amazed. I just purchased two more for my daughters so everyone can be connected. Don't let the low price fool you, it works!

It does what I need it to do. I had some time with a VX3000 and this is heads and shoulders above that unit. The microphone doesn't cry for mercy when it gets loud and the picture quality is significantly better. Under low light conditions the vx3000 wouldn't even try. This one performs admirably. You're not going to make professional videos with this but for the 30 dollar price point you really cannot go wrong. Say what you want about Microsoft's business practices but their hardware offerings are usually quite solid. This is no exception. Buy with confidence!

I love this webcam, i wanted one that was good priced but still worked good, since i am in college i don't have a lot of money. So i researched all of the web cams, and this one i found with the best reviews, so i bought the refurbished one for $25 and free shipping and couldn't be happier, it doesn't have a jumpy pictures like others it is very smooth and it picks up your voice good, I bought it to use with skype and all i had to do was plug it in and ta-da it worked perfect. I am very happy with this camera, and not to mention you can pick the size you want the back to be to hook on your computer, so it will work with any lap top or set on your desk.

I just bought this camera for my mom and I to be able to communicate via Skype. I installed it with no problem on my Dell PC with no problems, but when I installed my moms on her laptop for her the microphone that is built in did not work. I am slightly baffled about this, and can't find any information on how to troubleshoot this problem. The video quality is good and the sound works well overall. The price was good for the quality of the camera. I would recommend this camera for anyone who wants a camera just for casual chatting back and forth between a friend or a loved one. If you are looking for something more high tech I wouldn't use this camera.

First and foremost, I only have experience with the VX-5000 and the Microsoft LifeCam NX-6000 Webcam.Second, I ranked a 4 not because it didn't deserve a 5 but because I haven't used enough webcams to confidently say this is the best bang for the buck at this price point.The best feature about this webcam is the plug and play compatibility with skype. I bought it for a family member so we could talk while I'm away. It was a relief that I was able to hand it to her and she was able to get it working on her computer instantly. Meanwhile, I am still troubleshooting the NX-6000 which refused to run on my Windows 7 RC and (thnx to bloated software) is having install issues on my Dell Mini.Others have mentioned, but it merits repeating: The listed color should be ignored as the accent ring is not visible from the front. So, don't blow $10 extra just because green is your favorite color.Overall, it is a nice cam with acceptable picture quality. There are quite a few cam samples on youtube if you want to check image quality.

I replaced my VX3000 because some of the features stopped working. However the picture quality was outstanding. Now I have the VX6000 and everything works well but the picture quality. I'm sorry I purchased this.
