All I have to say already is in the title. And I think is all you need to know to buy one of this small audio-interfaces. I know there are a lot of options for this price and bellow this price, but consider that you could get a known brand item with a known brand software, even if it is a "entry level" version of it. The Fast Track works very well both on my Windows 7 laptop, and my MacPro with snow leopard . Truly "Plug and Play". Useful software (Pro Tools M-Powered Essential). Very Good Sound Quality. Excellent choice!

I bought this interface to use with Propellerhead's Record software, and not having a lot of experience with recording software & hardware in general, and given m-audio's support reputation (or lack thereof) I was a little apprehensive, but given that the next worthwhile interface is nearly three times as expensive, I gave it a shot. After having used this, I have to say I'm glad I did!Installing this thing is a breeze - just download the latest drivers (running win7 x64 myself - m-audio supports it), plug it in and go. Record picked it right up without me having to do anything but select the M-audio ASIO interface in the audio tab. Everything after that worked as expected - create a new audio track & voila - the single input is mapped directly to the track in Record. No muss, no fuss.A surprising bonus is the audio outputs on this device aren't just simple pass-throughs, but in fact are hooked up to the computer's audio, so if you're performing with a laptop, this could be an inexpensive option to use as an interface, although the outputs are RCA, not 1/4 inch. The one thing that may be a benefit or a hassle, depending on your opinion, is that plugging into the headphone jack appears to automatically silence the audio outs on the back of the device - you can't use both at the same time.Sound quality seems to be good, given this thing's price. It sounds a little cold, but for around $100, you're not going to get awesome sound - getting a clean, noise-free tone is about as good as you can expect. This device gets the job done.One last thing - it doesn't appear that the fact that this thing uses USB is a detriment to the latency. I have a fairly old PC as my workstation - an athlon phenom dual core - with 4 gb of ram, and my latency was something like 5ms. If I remember correctly, I think that's in line with a hardware synth, and anything under 10ms is acceptable to most people, so no problems there.Best audio interface for under $150, hands down.

Mine worked well for a very short time, then stopped outputting audio from the left channel to my receiver, which I was using as my amp. I had maybe 2 hours of actual playtime with it, in 32 days from the order date so could not return it.So in short: Cheaply made Chinese junk.

The hardware works extremely well. However the ProTools SE software works horrendously. If you want to use the software, buy the actual and complete ProTools software,9 or 10. Or you could get M-Powered 8 or 9 if you're balling on a budget.

I love this interface. Its a beautiful product that matches will with the hardware I currently have for my PC. I am running Windows XP and using this with Cubase 5 which I already currently owned. The device is easy to install. (Always remember that *MOST* USB devices that you install you plugin once the software has been installed. That way the OS already has the drivers available for use.)I use this primarily in conjunction with Peavey Revalver MK II to replace my not to great sounding solid state amplifier.It comes with a copy of Pro Tools that is unable to accept third party plug-ins. With that being said you can purchase either Pro Tools M-Powered 8 to work along side this interface, or purchase the new Pro Tools 9 which is very appealing at the very large price tag of $600If your having trouble getting to work I recommend reading manuals for the software your trying to get it to work with.

Horribly designed product, I have had driver issues with it ever since I got it on my Mac. It won't work right at ALL on a new iMac. Not cool, at all. Would not recommend to anyone, will not be buying more M-Audio products.

At first there was popping and crackling, and I was worried I wasted my money. But the next day this stopped all together after use of the item. Also the M-Audio pro-tools worked well for me, no issues, just limited capability.Worth the money, but don't be in a rush to return items. The popping and crackling probably happens because its new. It ill stop.

This interface is amazing! True HD reording, pristine sound, and 100% compatible with Logic Pro 9 on my mac mini.I use this in conjunction with the AKG c214 mic, and 2 Yamaha HS80 Flat response monitors. Everone says that my reordings sound professional!Bought mine used from Amazon, only issue was that the phantom power didnt work, but I just used a preamp. Other than that, it's perfect.

Just Bought This A Few Days Ago And I Was Soooo Blown Away Over The Fact How Great This Audio Interface Was, Fast Track Is Off The Chain, It's, Very Worth Getting.......The Sounds Are Awesome For What I Paid For, And The Pro Tools M-Powered Essential Software Is Good Too. Works Very Well With My Akai LPK 25 Keyboard & AKAI MPD18 AKA MPC, Recording My Vocals Ain't Bad At All, But Protools Demo Do Have It's Limits, But It Do Get The Job Done For The Beginners Like Me. So When I'm Good And Ready I Will Upgrade To The Full Version. I Am Pleased Of The Outcome......I Use Cubase To Record, But Now Protools Is The Leading Ship, Cause I Can Do D.A.W. & Recording All N One Software, Instead Of Going To Fruityloops To Do D.A.W. And Go To Cubase To Record. It's So Addicted, Cause I Have So Many Ideals Of The Music Creations I Make, It's Hard For Me To Stay Off Of It. On The Real, If You Don't Have It Yet, Then You Need To Get One, Trust Me. It's Worth Every Penny

I've owned this USB interface for about a year now and for the most part I love it. It is simple, low noise, and so far reliable. When I purchased it, it came with a demo version of Pro-Tools which has been fantastic (Compared to the Audacity I was using before). Although the demo limits the number of tracks you can have and some functions, you can still make professional quality music once you figure it out. Back to the Fast Track, it allows me to interface my guitar right in the ProTools guitar similator, which honestly sounds way better then any guitar cabinet mike job I could do. The only knock I have is with the two gain and one output knobs on the top. Yes they are accesible and easy to manipulate, but say I lay down a vocal track through the mic input. Then I use the mic input to record an acoustic guitar track or backing vocal track. Later if I want to rerecord more vocals or fix an acoustic guitar part, and I've changed the gain level, how, on an analog dial, do I set the gain back to the same setting? It's not like digital where I can reset the gain to 5.3 or whatever. The best I came up with is puttig masking tape next to the knob and marking where I had the vocals, guitar, etc. Is this a reason not to buy it? Not in my opinion. Other than that I have been very satified with it's quality and ease of use.

The Fast Track is made by M-Audio, which means cheap. That can be good if you're lucky enough to get a properly manufactured unit. I wasn't so lucky, and had to return mine because the mic gain dial was stuck at zero for the whole range up until the end, when it jumped to full (too loud for me to use, clipping with everything). This is probably the last time I buy an M-Audio product.

I highly recommend this product for 3 reasons: 1)plug and play, and its as simple as that, once you get the software setup and read a few intstuctions it becomes simple for anyone. I am new to recording so this was the first time I ever setup or attempted anything like this, definitely good for beginners. 2) When I bought the fast track I had a computer with a 32-bit operating system and it set up just fine with the drivers that came with it. A week later I got a new computer with windows 7 as a 64-bit OS and when I attempted to install it said the drivers were not compatible with 64-bit. Well all I did was go do M-audios website and download the driver for my OS and it was that simple. 3) Fast track and the software that comes with it can make anything sound great, and once you get used to the software after some reading up you will be able to record music seamlessly with great sound.

simply perfectI plugged my keyboard in the Guitar input and it gave me a perfect sound + the mic and every thing is super perfectwin 7 was needed to download the software from the official siteagainPERFECT :)

I have been using the fast track with the included pro tools m-powered essentials on my Vista 64 PC for about the past year and it has worked very well for me. It is a bit annoying that so many features of the full version of m-powered are not available, and the software points that out at every opportunity to try to get you to buy the full version. Maybe I will buy it if the price comes down some more. I recently got an M-audio Oxygen 49 midi controller and it works pretty well with the included Structure Essential virtual instrument package--a lot easier than using the mouse to click on the little keyboard on the screen. I use an Audio Technica condenser mic and get great sounding recordings (at least I think so). I was apprehensive about buying an interface/DAW because I was afraid it would not work on my system, but I was very pleasantly surprised that this one installed without incident and has worked great. It's been a lot of fun and it was a very cheap way to get started with home recording.

this m audio is small and everything but boy thei can really fool any one i opened up my studio with this im currently using cubase so i cant tell you how it is on protools but it works perfectly with cubase thats for shure if your some one that dont have a band and is just looking for great vocals this is it right here they work wonders i ordered this item about a month now and i cant tell you how impressed i am....

This little box was pretty much what I expected. I am not the best with computers, and when the box is plugged in you will not hear any audio until you have head phones connected to the box. It would be an easy fix but you need a $3 dollar head phone adapter. Once I had that all set up it worked out just fine. Little bit of delay when you are recording two tracks. But as long as you do your research and you have realistic expectations, this can be a great tool. (if you plan on using the Pro-tools they give you watch tutorials online and the learning curve wont be so bad)

I am using Ableton Live software and was having really bad latency problems with my mic because of poor onboard sound drivers in my PC. This little gem took care of that for me. When I first tried it, I thought I had made a mistake as it sounded crackly, but once I adjusted the software settings as instructed that went away. Make sure you get the USB 2 version with the faders on top of the box, not the USB 1 with the controls on the front.

Love this device for its simplicity. I have it attached to my iMac and use it to capture song ideas and record basic rhythm guitar parts. Has worked flawlessly since I purchased it!

I had a usb audio interface which didn't allow me to do a full 192k sample and also gave dropouts at 96k. But this ProFire 610 firewire audio interface works perfectly. I have not stress tested it at its full 8 or 10 simultaneous inputs at 192k sample, but at 2 inputs at 192k sample it works without problems.The only thing of warning is to make sure the red clipping light doesn't flash on. My first recording was distorted at times because I treated the red input light as an average peak meter. The red light should never come on because it is telling you that your signal is clipping. If it comes on during level checks just simply turn down the input gain knob.

Do not know why this product gets these many 4-5 stars. This one clearly does not work with Shure SM58 dynamic microphone. It just cannot provide enough gain for the dynamic microphones. After spending hours in google research, found out many many have experienced the same issue and the problem is that M-Audio seems denies this fact. Returned the M-Audio back and ordered ART Tube Preamp which works great with my Shure SM58.

I came really fast.It's probably because it was a refurbish one, but the cables were not really complete. I didn't get a power supply and had 2 firewire cables of the same kind.One thing I find a bit stressy is "hotplugging may have adverse effects on the interface, your computer, or both"But it works really fine.

i bought this on sweetwater.com it came with pre tools m powered essentialfirst thing i recorded with this was acoustic songs. which sounded pretty good. with some work with the eq and micing the acoustic with a direct in. it's a good beginner interface. but there are issues at hand. the pre amps are horrible the second you plug a electric guitar in. it sounds thin and hollow. i can't fix it that well with the eq either. and pro tools m powered essentials can get irritating. i burrowed a plug in for a friend. only to find out that i need to upgrade for over a hundred dollars. which is more then i spend on the actual interface.

Provides low latency and clear tones... double headphone output is very useful. Parameters to control master volume is also very useful. Built to last!
