I have been using Logi MOMO (the original red one) for the last 7 years, so I am immune to the "wow-factor" which seems to affect many people when they move to a nice wheel from a less than stellar one, or even a keyboard. Its a given that G25 is greatly superior to the vast hordes of me-too wheels out there, and comparison with using a keyboard is downright embarassing. So we wont even go there. Suffice to say that the G25 is among the better ways to spend your (or your dad's) well earned money. No, this review is from the point of view of a person who has logged thousands of hours on a very high quality wheel, and then comparing the G25 experience with the previous one. So lets get on with it... :-)Appearances : A good friend of mine once said... "i'm telling ya, the leather, and metal and paddles, is about perfect...". That applies to this wheel as well :D. Very sleek appearance, and a pleasure to behold.. the wheel and the shifter. The pedals, though, look a bit.. umm... un-elegant (bet hey, they're down there, out of sight..).(Of course, my friend was talking about his own G25 when he made that comment, but it wouldnt be so funny if I had told you that right off the bat, now, would it..? .. ;-))Installation :Pros : Is a snap, and very intuitive. Everything connects in to the wheel. A smart little touch by Logitech, using different types of connectors for each cable, so you cant possibly plug a cable into a wrong socket. Attaching the wheel and shifter to the desk is also as easy as it gets.Cons : 1. Now to the first thing I disliked about this wheel. Everything connects to the wheel. That means there are FOUR cables coming out of the wheel, and on to your desk. Thats 3 cables too many for me, adding to the clutter. Also, if you like to "stow away" your wheel after you've done your gaming, it could get cumbersome really soon. It is also not possible to remove any cables once your wheel has been attached to your desk, since the connectors are on the underside of the wheel. That has been a bit of an issue for me (not a showstopper though), but others may not be bothered by this at all. But at least, now you know.. fore-warned is fore-armed... :-)2. Second con for me, the clamps on the wheel (to grip the desk) are a little on the smaller side. My desk curves a bit, so the clamps reach the edge of the tabletop with VERY LITTLE to spare. Its ok for me, but a little more curvature, and you can't use the clamp. Period.Hardware (Wheel) :Pros : 900 degrees of rotation, which is more than what you could conceivably need. Solidly constructed, and offers a good grip. A couple of little indentations just above the 3 and 9 o'clock help ensure your hands dont slide off during the heat of the moment. The wheel mounted butterfly-pedals are brushed stainless steel, sturdy, and offer a satisfying click. I read somewhere that Logitech is moving away from the "click", but this is clicky enough for me..:-). Another nice little touch here.. the pedals are "tall" enough that you are not limited to the 3&9 o'clock driving positions to be able to access these pedals. I use the 3&9 grip for my racing, so no advantage for me but for those who don't, rejoice.. :).Cons : 1. Only two buttons on the wheel. Sure there are MANY more on the shifter-unit, but when you're in the middle of an intense section, the last thing you want to do is to take your hand off the wheel (AND eyes off the screen) to locate and press a button on the shifter. Im my opinion, a wheel should at least have 4 buttons.2. Also, the two buttons are not positioned very well. They are exactly at 9 and 3 O'clock. So whats the problem with that? If you GRIP the wheel at 9 and 3, then the NATURAL position of your thumb would be closer to 10 and 2. To get to these buttons, you either have to change your grip on the fly, or bend your thumbs in an unnatural position. You could probably get used to it in a while, but if your coming off off a wheel with perfectly placed buttons, then it takes a bit of an adjustment.Hardware (pedals) :Pros : Fully functional clutch. And that too one with full "travel". 0 to 100, you may call it, as opposed to 0/1 ON/OFF button style clutch you'd get to see in some models. The stiffness of the three pedals (clutch, brake, gas) is respectably close to real life. Not the flimsy stuff (specially brakes) you find in other sets. Nice touches, but the feature I was most impressed with was the little retractable spike-belt at the bottom on the pedal set. This grips (and I mean GRIPS) on to your carpet, keeping the pedal set stationary under moments of heavy braking. This is a brilliant idea, I'm surprised it hasn't been implemented before. So simple, yet so effective. No more putting blocks behind the pedal set for me and bracing these blocks against the wall to keep the pedals from running away from me.. :-) (ahh.. the things we pseudo-racers do to get our kicks.. lol)Cons : 1. The inclusion of clutch means that we are little cramped for space down

Ive had this for over a year now, and its still running flawlessly, now it seems that game designers make the game a lot harder when you use a wheel, but i use this wheel on my gaming computer and my ps3, and after racing mustangs legally on a track for a couple years I have to say this is the best improvement on gaming wheels ive found yet. I don't recommend this if you aren't serious or going to get a good amount of use out of it because of its price. I also recommend you get a gaming chair set up for it to make use a lot easier. This isn't a cheap investment but I have found it more than use full time and time again. The clutch pedal and slotted shifter make this product a stand out to anything else on the market.

June 2009 - Ok I need to preface this now that I have had it for a while - this wheel was wonderful when I first got it, but it didn't last the way I had hoped. Particularly the paddle shifters - they definitely have been a pain to deal with over the hundreds of hours I've put into this rig. Persistent double and triple shifting due to the flimsy metal which tends to 'flutter' if you tap it the wrong way (often when you don't mean to such as during aggressive maneuvers or quick corrections).I finally got frustrated enough to try hooking up my old DFP wheel and I realized what I was missing - although it took some adjustment, the wheel weight feels much better, inspires more confidence (and the paddles never double-shift by accident). Mind you I have now been to Formula racing school so I have some frame of reference, and I finally bought a real car as well which is set up more for performance than comfort. The G25's resistance feels like a rubber band compared to the Driving Force Pro - the G25 is smoother for quick changes of direction, but when you get over 200mph in a twitchy car you sometimes feel a little disconnected from the responsiveness. I don't remember exactly what about the force feedback architecture was different between the two - something about a single versus double spindle? anyway you'll find that the double has some strange side-effects at its limits (really high speeds and/or bumpy roads), while the single of the DFP is better able to be consistent under the same situations. The real dilemma is that the plastic pedals on the DFP are annoyingly light compared to the wonderful metal pedals on the G25. I thought, maybe if I used the metal pedals with the DFP wheel I'd have the best of both, but unfortunately they are not compatible. (I even tried using the plastic pedals on the G25 wheel to see if they'd work, but that actually makes the brake pedal work backwards.)Anyway, what I most realize about my old review is how much I needed to work on my footwork at that point in my skill progression, more so than working on steering inputs; and the new G25 equipment really met this need:February 2007 - I actually got this item at the same time as I purchased the Sparco racing cockpit (with a Siena seat), for playing Gran Turismo 4 primarily (although it also works great for NFS Most Wanted or F1 Championship on the PS3). The good news is this wheel is a huge improvement over the Driving Force Pro, and it seems Logitech has paid attention to the reviews in designing the G25. The overall physics of the feel and feedback is more accurate and lifelike, the action is much quieter than the zipper noise we used to endure, and now the wheel will actually straighten on its own like a real car does. I find that this is most helpful during rally or any kind of drift driving that is steering-happy, but even the twitchy Formula car is easier to handle. I also think that this wheel is more of the correct size, even for Formula 1 enthusiasts. The paddle shifters are of course easier to use than the little buttons. I hardly need to say how much better it is to have leather and steel instead of plastic and rubber. And the pedals, even though the clutch is not yet supported by many games, are far better in terms of the weight of the brake pedal and the board overall. Now for the bad news - within a week I started experiencing intermittent double-shifting from the right paddle (any gear, could be 1st to 3rd or 5th to 7th) which is really annoying even if you catch it quickly with your left paddle. I read that some WD40 could fix this, so I applied some and it seemed to help. Also, the new shifter mount hangs down quite a bit and is wider than the pro cockpit can currently accommodate (I have it mounted to the side so I can still use the other buttons which are no longer on the wheel itself). Finally, I don't really think the position of the brake and accelerator are quite right for heel-toe, despite what the product description claims.Nevertheless, if you can get this wheel it will make driving games feel much more realistic (which makes them easier somehow, and more enjoyable). Within a few weeks I had little trouble clearing all the GT4 license tests with gold times. I'm sure the added accuracy of this equipment would help anyone improve their game.

I've been using this wheel for about a week now after Logitech DFP. Overall, the impression is very positive. This wheel was worth every dollar, especially given the price I got it for from Amazon and free shipping. I'm still only giving it 4 stars because of a few gripes, and I'd happily paid a little more for a product without them.First the positives. The wheel is much nicer than DFP, which in itself is a decent device. G25 is about an inch larger, making it feel more "real" and easier to control. The feel of leather compared to rubber or whatever DFP is covered with places G25 in a different league--much less of a toy and a pleasure to use. Force feedback feels smoother and responds much faster, again producing a more realistic experience. The motors are noticeably quieter too.The pedals are a leap forward compared to DFP. Made of metal, they look and feel much nicer--again, less of a toy. The springs offer varied resistance similar to a real car. The brakes are the heaviest, and the added resistance makes it easier to modulate braking in a game. And of course there is the clutch!I quite like the short throw of the H-pattern shifter, reminds me of the Honda S2000 shifter.Overall as a package, it's not even a question whether you should get a G25 if you can afford it. The price premium over the wheels of DFP caliber is well worth it.But now the disappointments. The biggest for me is the pedal placement, and that is the area where the designers absolutely shot themselves in the foot. It seems that the point of providing three pedals and an H-pattern shifter was to appeal to the racing sim crowd. I myself got the wheel so that I could do proper heel-and-toe downshifting. Now, an easy and natural heel-and-toe requires a particular pedal setup, with the brake and the throttle close together and the brake higher, so that in a depressed position they are about equal height. (Of course, there is another issue that real brakes have more of the "pressure" and less of the "travel" type of response). The G25 pedal setup fails miserably: the pedals are equal height, and the brake and the accelerator are spaced almost a foot width apart! What a pity to be within reach of the Right Thing and then blow it like this.My second most serious disappointment is the clamping mechanism, already mentioned by other reviewers. Some kind of rubberized lining on the wheel and the shifter, and more substantial clamps reaching further under the desk would be extremely helpful. If your desk has slippery surface, curved edge, or beveled edge (or all three of the above like mine), you may have to be inventive to make the clamps work for you.The shifter, while nice and short, could really use a more distinctive "click" in gears, and just a tad more heft in travel between the gears. As mentioned in other reviews, a few more buttons on the wheel might come in handy, though I'd rate that as minor compared to these other points. To sum it up, I believe this is a great product well worth the price--however I'd be willing to pay a few dollars extra for something with the problems above fixed. Especially the pedal setup issue.

Bought the wheel about a month ago.And also bought the WheelStand pro, from a company in Poland to mount the wheel to. I was going to buy the evolution seat, but my wife did not like something that bulky in the middle of our bedroom.I mainly use the wheel with GT5 prologue. I have yet to try it with a computer simulation game.Set up was pretty straight forward, the game recognized it right away. I wish I could have more flexibility in the settings, very limited, but that is more a drawback of the game. The wheel itself is very well constructed, solid. The feedback from the wheel is very realistic, and definitely makes it so much easier to point the car where I want it to go as compared to the game controller. You can definitely feel the car as it begins to break loose, and keep a nice slide going. For some odd reason, all the cars changed their handling characteristics once using the wheel, as compared to the game controller. All the cars seemed to understeer quite a bit, and I had to change the suspensions settings to loosen them up. As soon as I started to play with the steering wheel, the opposite was happening, the cars now were a handful to drive oversteering quite a bit.I have been able to improve my lap times by about 2 seconds with the steering wheel right out of the box. In some cases I have been 5-6 seconds faster with the steering wheel.

This wheel is unquestionably the pinnacle centerpiece attainable by consumers for a unique and realistic driving experience. Though at a price point many would not consider to buy, it is more than a symbol for the elite. This device has great compatibility across systems, including the PS3, and supports all of the most expected features of all racing games be it arcade or simulation. The 900 degree turn are supported by less than a handful of games, however all other features work on other games, minus the sequential shift on some. For most this is more than suitable given many still prefer paddle shift or keyboard hotkeys, the functions that do not work on a garden variety game are really not noticeable.I highly recommend trying out Live for Speed S2, an independently developed simulator which bodes well when bundled with this controller. Give it as a gift or make it the cornerstone of your epic LAN party, for no one can refuse to entice their childhood Nascar or Indianapolis dreams, nor can the allure of such a well crafted device be ignored. If you want fast paced driving, with less of that pedantic micromanagement, go for a recent Need for Speed game, such as Carbon, ProStreet, or Undercover which are supported by Logitech for use with this controller. It can make for a rough and challenging experience filled with bumps and shunts and twisted metal carnage.Other games to try with this controller: Colin McRae DiRT, American Pro Trucker, Gran Turismo 5, or rFactor. All in all, if you play racing games a lot, and want a realistic experience complete with the natural smell of leather, grab a pair of gloves, get a new racing game to add to your collection and feel the rush with the G25.

I bought this wheel with great skepticism because I tried the Logitech DFGT wheel and hated it a lot. I returned the DFGT to Best Buy within two days of purchase. I had some money laying around and thought that I should try the G25 and if I didn't like it, I could sell it on Ebay for what I got it for so no money would be lost.I have to say that I love this wheel. It's leaps ahead of the DFGT and feels much better to drive without much sudden movements. This is my only complain about this wheel. When you are taking a turn, the wheel resists you which is what it's suppose to do, but when it comes back to normal position after the turn, it nudges your hand to the opposite direction which results in your car fish-tailing unnecessarily. It's not as bad as the DFGT though and it's very easy to get used to so that it doesn't happen as often (shifting up right after coming out of the turn makes it less noticiable, plus you could just hold the steering). this is why I gave it 4 stars and not 5. On the positive side, this wheel feels great and provides awesome feedback. I absolutely love it. GT5P has full support for it (in the beginning of the race press triangle to turn on the clutch). I've been an avid GT fan since the first GT on the PS. I have to say that my lap times with the wheel are not better than my controller times which is expected I think, but I have much more control and much more consistency with the wheel plus a lot more fun when you have the clutch and the whole set up of a car.Bottom line is that if you have money for it, don't even hesitate.....BUY IT!!

I always like to play racing games and recently purchased a PS3. Wanting to wait for the full version of GT5 so I purchased GRID. Despite that I enjoyed this game with the Sixaxis controller, I wanted to try playing the game with the Logitech G25 as I found this on sale for $200 at the local Fry's.The game recognized the G25 without any issue. With the default setting, it doesn't feel natural. The force is actually too strong. After trying to learn to adjust to the G25, my time was still better with the Sixaxis controller than the wheel. Disappointed as I was, I considered returning the wheel to the store. Luckily, I found an option menu in the game that allows modifying several settings to suit the user. After playing with the settings for several races, the wheel feels much more natural. And my time around the tracks is significantly better. In 2 days, I have won many events/trophies in the game. Now that the controller is adjusted to my liking, the experience during play cannot be matched by using the standard controller. The steering wheel set is very well made. I have not tried the other steering wheel systems, but I highly recommend this. It will elevate your racing game experience to a new level just as it did for me. I cannot wait for the full version of GT5.

You can find recommended wheel set up guidelines for all of these games on the web and within the forums. I have used this wheel more than 30 hours since I got it.The wheel came packaged well and was in excellent condition upon receipt. It took me about 45 minutes to get it up and in racing form. I could have been up faster but I chose to read the instructions after plugging it in... lol. Read the instructions, you'll be up and running quickly. This is my 4th wheel in about 8 years. I have had a red momo, a black momo, and now this wheel. Hands down, this is the best wheel you can get for the money. If you like to hot lap, or compete online this is a must have device!Pedal down!!

While some reviewers say it is the closest thing to real driving I disagree with the generalization. It almost implies it's close and it not, but it is by far the best wheel I have ever tried on a game console or pc. The firm pedal response is very good and the leather wrap steering wheel feels great. The force feedback is solid and fun. The H pattern on the gear shifter isn't like a real shifter (too close), but it's still fun to use it. Overall I would say it's not truly realistic like a real car, but it is as good as any arcade simulation I have played. It's the most fun I have ever had playing a driving game at home, I would buy it again.

There is nothing that compares. At first I thought it was too expensive and bought one of the other logitech wheels because it was cheaper. Then I ordered the G25 to compare. The other wheel was good, but no comparison and was returned the same day. The feedback is right on. The wheel feels more solid than the lower logitechs. The peddles have better pressure and the added clutch is a must. The separate gear shift is nice if you don't always want to use it, but if you do, you have the option of regular or sequential shifting. The shifter also adds more macro buttons for less fiddling with the keyboard. I believe it's the best you can get for a home system.
