I bought iGroove when Amazon had it on sale for $99. Came in via UPS 2 days later, popped my iPod touch into it and off it played.Sound:Decent, not groundbreaking, not offensive, but it's OK. For how small this docking station is, it has a lot of punch. I'm used to my floor standing Yamahas with 12" woofers, so my ear is hard to please. iGroove can fill in the bedroom with enough bass (which is usually a shortcoming in devices of this size. Highs are clear, mids are a bit less defined, bass is on the muddy side at higher volume levels, but at least this has some bass, unlike the rest of the junk out there. It does serve as a great nightstand alarm system or a kitchen radio when coupled with your iPhone and some good wi-fi radio streaming. Speakers are of open construction with bass reflex openings on each side. How you position this unit in your room is very important. I found the best results with placing it on a table in the corner at a 45 degree angle, so the bass outputs reflect off the side walls and into the room. It makes a huge difference. Putting this unit in the middle of the room yields the worst results. It has a remote, tiny, with 7 buttons. You can turn it on/off, play/pause, mute, turn volume up/down or play next/previous song. Not too many features, but good enough to control your music play. the iGroove also has a 3.5mm input in the back, in case you want to get a 1/8" male/male cord and hook up your iPod shuffle to it, or any other non iPod device, for the matter. The unit itself has only 3 buttons on top: power, volume up and down.Construction:The dock comes with various adapters for your iPods or iPhone. That said, it is not the best Iv'e seen. My iPod touch rocks inside and doesn't sit firmly, so by pushing the touch screen it makes the device rock back and forth in the dock and sometimes disconnect. I took two self-adhesive felt caps one can buy and put on the legs of your dining room chair. I glued them on the front of the iGroove, so the iPod's back slightly leans against them and doesn't rock anymore.Klipsch could use a bit better engineering here. For this, one star off.Am I thrilled about it? No.Would I buy it again? Possibly. But I'd rather wait for a fire sale on Bose Wave and save up for it.Would I recommend it to a friend? Yes.It doesn't sound anywhere near as nice as Bose Wave, but iGroove also costs third of Bose's price, and is much smaller, so... a great addition to your nightstand or kitchen counterIt has an external power adapter, which is a bit of a drag and limits your options where the unit can be placed without you seeing 6 feet of a black cord and a rather large power brick.

Im not Luly, I'm her son and I'm 15 and an audiophile. My background:I listen to Rock, classical rock, pop, R&B, jazz, pop, dance, electronic, hip hop and some heavy rap to get the beats down. I love BASS deep rich but No distorion at all. I own a Altec Lansing im800 (one of the earlier docks that came out. about a 1 1/2 years ago), Klipsch Promedia 2.1, Bose Companion 3, Klipsch KG 4.2 Floorstanding speakers. I always knew Klipsch was a FANTASTIC brand, they all sound amazing, and better than Bose because Bose has barely any bass in their products (my opinion). What I have to say about this product:I went to the Apple store to listen to the iGroove, JBL soundstage 3, Bose ipod dock and another JBL but forgot the name of it. Then after listening to those I thought that the Klipsch was the best in my budget (nomore than 150$), and I plugged my ipod in the Bose and the Klipsch and didnt quite see the difference at all, the Bose had barely but a little more bass but it probly has 3inch drivers instead of 2 1/2 inch drivers that the Klipsch had. But it was also loud in there so I could be wrong. After that I went to Best Buy to test out other docks and they had a Logitech Rechargeable Speaker S315i, Logitech Pure-Fi Anywhere Compact Speakers, and a Logitech Pure-Fi Express Plus Omnidirectional Speaker Dock for iPod and iPhone and also the Klipsch iGroove. How did they sound??JBL Soundstage 3: Very portable and good 360 degree sound. Has surprising great sound with its 1/1 1/2 inch drivers and has dual tweeters (one on each side). This had amazing bass for its SIZE. The highs and mids were well produced from this dock and were nice and clear. The loudness of this was amazing cause its small and this thing was cranked with NO distortion. The atmosphere at best buy was surprisingly quite no other speakers were cranked up.Logitech Rechargeable Speaker S315i: Really bad but not saying this t make Klipsch look good. The S315i had bass that sounded like someone was knocking on a wooden door. The high notes sounded flat with no enthusiasm. The mids were mixed in with the bass, but you could still hear the high notes. It woud be good for portability cause it wasnt very wide but just about 6-8 inches tall (maybe).Logitech Pure-Fi Anywhere Compact Speakers: This is excelent if you want portability. The bass was SURPRISINGLY FULL AND RICH, one thing that makes the bass for this product full and rich was that it has two 3 inch pressure/passive radiator drivers. The 3 inch pressure/passive radiator drivers do nothing at all but bounce back and forth instead of having a ported hole for the air to push out, the 3 inch drivers increase bass response and less distortion. The mids and the highs were not really clear though, coming from two 2 inch full range drivers, I think this cause of the bass. This actually gets pretty loud without distortion.Logitech Pure-Fi Express Plus Omnidirectional Speaker Dock for iPod and iPhone: This was good but not great. The bass was hearable and not like knocking on wood. The bass couldve been more richer and deeper. The mids were very good and the same with the highs. The music was very clear and all notes could be heard with this dock which is great. I didnt get this one because it didnt have enough bass for me. This can get loud too.Klipsch iGroove SXT: I think this was the best portable one with amazing sound. The bass is very very full, deep and rich cause it has dual 2 1/2 inch long throw woofers and it has two ported holes (one on each side) unlike others that have nothing at all. But the ported hole doesnt even make the shuffling noise at lound volumes which is great. The highs and mids are excellent and noticable, because their being produced by the 2 horn tweeters (one on each side). This dockcan get very very loud with NO distortion at all!! This is a tiny bit taller than my bose wave radio and the length is about 2 inches shorter than the Bose wave raidio and the width is about half the width of the Bose Wave radio. The bose wave radio is NOT the double decker with 4 speakers instead of 2, I have the one with 2 speakers.HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS PORDUCT TO ANYONE WHO SEEKS AMAZING SOUND AND PORTABILITY!!

I love this little speaker set. As has been said in the other reviews, it doesn't quite pack the same punch as the Bose equivalent, but since it's far less expensive I'd say for the money it's the best you can get. It's been discontinued (so snap one up if you can find one), and I lost the remote ages ago. Shortly after I got the speakers, in fact! That hasn't been a problem in most of the settings in which I've used it, but just recently I started wishing I had the remote. Thinking I was really just wasting time, I looked on the Klipsch website for a replacement -- sure enough they have it! For 8 dollars and free shipping. Knock me over with a feather: a replacement part for a discontinued product, for cheap-cheap and free shipping? They've made one more loyal customer in me just for that. (I've been trying to think how long I've had these, and I'm going to guess four or five years.)A few complaints: - The speakers always revert to the same mid-level volume setting when you turn them on. That setting is actually pretty loud, however, so depending on the setting it can be pretty annoying. - The lowest end of the speakers' volume range is still fairly loud. Again, depending on the setting this can be a problem. - The speakers aren't portable -- that is to say, they don't run on batteries. It has to be plugged in at all times. It is quite light though, so it is portable in that so long as there is AC power available it's plenty easy to move around. - As I recall, when I had the remote it was fairly weak. It had to be pointed directly at the unit and even then it was somewhat hit-or-miss as to whether it worked. As I've said though I've used the set mostly without the remote at all so this was not a big issue for me.I do love that I can plug a 3.5mm audio cable into the speakers and run audio from (for example) my computer or another source. The speakers can get very loud and handle the volume with dignity, and do quite a respectable job with the bass, to my ears. Overall I've given the unit four stars, since I had those few minor complaints. Great product for a great price! Grab one if you can find it!

Got these per audiophile-engineer friend's recommendation. I have good ears but can't afford to buy top end stuff, so I get the best available in the lower/mid range of cost/quality/functionality.I checked out this iFi set at home by playing top quality music CD's (various recordings - acoustic and electronic instruments, voice, etc.) and also my HDTV for DVD & blu-ray movies. Soon I'll add it to a decent receiver and some more speaker components. Meanwhile, by itself, the sound is great. You can (at least) fill up a couple of rooms with quite rich, multilayered and very good quality sound. (Though it can handle loud, you shouldn't figure to shake your whole house with this set alone - it's not designed for that - that's what you add more honkin' powerful audio components for.) This set can function as part of your HDTV's surround sound, too. The subwoofer includes an amp so you can opt to not run it through your receiver on your general tv/music entertainment setup, or you can use it in a non-entertainment room where you just want your MP3 player to have great speakers. You can hook this up to a decent receiver and achieve greater control/equalization for the full range of sound, or you can use the little control unit that attaches to the subwoofer/amp to do a basic adjustment of how much subwoofer to how much of the two speakers are output. I ended up placing the subwoofer/amp in in back corner of room, and the little speakers near my HDTV/entertainment area. The little control unit includes a slot to insert your iPOD, and it comes with a set of plastic peices so you can plug in various size/model iPod devices. If you don't have an Apple music player, then there's a supplemental input jack at the rear so you can attach your non-apple player that way.The little oval-shaped remote has a very long range so you can control the volume from out of the room, or pause the playback. Just don't let the dog mouth & swallow it (it's only 3" long)! The speakers have a ball-joint (adjustable with 4 inset little allen screws, and their allen wrench is included snapped into the inside bottom of the base). Each speaker stand can stand or has holes for hanging, and the adjustable ball joint allows you to tilt the speaker in any direction. (Note - to adjust the snugness of the ball joint so it can be moved yet remains snug enough to stay firmly in place, you only need to loosen the allen screws each a teeny teeny bit.) The covers to the subwoofer and speakers attach with little very securely inset magnets. They are about 6" high and 3-4" wide, not counting their little stands, and look sleek. This whole set is beautifully engineered for practical, adaptable use and long-lasting functionality as well as looks.I listen to all kinds of music. All the classic rock, fusion jazz, pop, trance and other electronicized music sounds great - highs, midtones and bass and very deep tones (O Joy of Very Deep Tones!!). When I put on something with strong, varied (including very deep and and very rich) acoustic instrumentation, like E.Power Biggs playing Bach fugues on famous organs, with all the balls that music deserves - WOW. The lower tones vibrated in my gut most satisfactorily, and the full richness of the music really is accomplished. Top quality vocal + instrumental music (which have a greater richness of sound than electronic instruments) was wonderful. Therefore so was all my rock/fusion/blues/pop/electronica. O Joy.And that's without fine adjustment via a reciever's equalizer and any other surround components! -which I'd recommend if you will be using this as part of a full tv/video/music entertainment system. For your room or study, it's fine to use as is. You could also use it for sound output from your PC's sound card, and use your PC software to handle fine equalizer adjustments.Worth the money to buy quality. And this is a competitively priced set for its quality and functionality anyway.

What with the constantly shifting field of makes, models, and versions, reviewing these iPod speakers can seem like a mug's game. I read dozens of reviews in the process of shopping for a speaker/dock for my wife's ceramics studio, then proceeded to a local "Big Box" electronics store to audition a few of the likely prospects. What is clear from my experience is that to be genuinely helpful, reviews need to be more specific about the reviewer's taste in music and general audio expectations, and the reader needs to grasp some basic audio realities in order to interpret reviews usefully. My wife's listening tastes include a lot of music with high dynamic range: classical, choral, acoustic folk and jazz. This raises the bar in terms the level of equipment performance necessary to produce pleasing sound. If you have similar tastes, you may want to read many of the reviews, both professional and consumer, with a degree of skepticism. In addition, you may be better served by actually auditioning and purchasing units in stores rather than simply trying to choose a product based on reviews alone and purchasing online. Of course, Amazon's generous return policy mitigates this consideration. In general, key price points determine sound quality. At $200, the late lamented Athena may have been a notable exception with performance rivaling Bose, but be very skeptical of claims that Unit X selling for $150 "sounds just as good as the [$300] Bose." We found this was generally a result of wishful thinking or uncritical listening. Each price point represents challenges, decisions, and inevitable compromises for audio designers. There are damn few true audio miracles. Our goal going into the BB store was to find no-frills iPod speakers for my wife that could at least equal the performance of an original JBL OnStage which due to a design flaw was no longer working for her. The unit was to be used in her pottery studio as an alternative to her Shure earphones, and we were looking to limit the cost to around $150. We auditioned the floor models using her iPod with some demanding symphonic source material such as the Hallelujah chorus from Handel's "Messiah" and Holst's "Planets."Many glowing reviews and the high iLounge rating led us to try out the Logitech Pure-Fi Anywhere 2s first, but we were quickly disappointed that the impressive soundstage and highly detailed midrange and highs seemed to be achieved at the expense of smooth, balanced sound. "Where's the bass?," we both asked. This was a unit that we felt would soon become tiring to listen to, analytical as opposed to musical. (In this regard, we actually preferred the sound of the much-cheaper Pure-Fi Express Plus.) Initially reluctant to go over the $150 price point, realities finally pushed us to try out the Klipsch, and we quickly decided that the slightly higher price was well justified. For our listening tastes, we found the Klipsch to have the best balanced sound under $200, integrating detail, sound stage, clarity, and above all, harmonious musicality. To achieve this from a small box, the bass is slightly boosted, but was not what we would call boomy. Out of the store and in the pottery studio, the igroove is if anything exceeding expectations. My wife goes in to work a little early just to spend some time listening to music through it. Of course it's brand new, but this emphasizes the significant step up the Klipsch represents over her old JBL--and all the newer JBLs in the store. In her small studio, and at the moderate listening levels she prefers, the volume on the Klipsch is normally never maxed out to the point where it distorts--and it will at maxed volume on some material.Another important consideration: The original OnStage design lacked any sort of well or support for my wife's standard sized iPod, which merely sat on top of the base connector. For lack of any remote, this meant that there was frequent clicking and twirling of the iPod wheel while docked, leading over time to a stressed iPod connection and eventual partial audio failure. Now we are very aware of this issue and shop accordingly. The Klipsch holds the iPod firmly in place when manually interacting with it--and due to limitations of nearly all the remotes we see, at least some manual interaction is still necessary.Does the Klipsch sound as good as the Bose? No. But we were unwilling to pay for that qualitative improvement. For our listening habits, we think that the Klipsch iGroove SXT currently occupies the sweet spot among the sub-$200 iPod speakers we heard.

Let me preface this review by saying I paid $56 (that's one-half of one hundred dollars, in case Amazon edits that out of my review) including shipping for this iPod sound system and even if I had paid double that, it would be well worth it!I knew the merits of Klipsch speakers already, as I have one of their surround sound systems hooked up to my TV.The sound coming out of these little speakers is more crisp and clear than anything I have heard from the Bose sound systems, and they are quadruple the price of Klipsch. The bass is also deep and rich. Even at top volume the sound was clean. It comes with a remote control, which is also nice.As some other reviews have stated, it does NOT charge the iPhone, but since I am only using it with my iPod Touch (1st generation), that doesn't matter to me. It DOES charge my iPod Touch. I believe Klipsch has a newer model that does charge both the iPod and the iPhone.I'm not an audiophile, but I do love music and you can't go wrong with this sound system. It's well priced, has great sound and is compact (a little bigger than a standard clock radio).Don't hesitate to buy this iPod sound system - you won't be disappointed!

Ужасно

I have had Klipsch speakers for years so when this came on the market 5 or 6 years ago, I rushed out and bought it. It sounded great but one day one of the speakers flopped over and would not stay upright, and then one day it just died. This model went out of production very quickly, newer iPods don't charge while they are playing, so I would say don't buy one of these, look for something newer in the market.

I have been a fan of Klisch speakers for many years. When I foind the iGroove I was glad to see it as an alternative to the Bose Dockstation. I was searching for an iPod player with a remote that I can use in my music andteaching studio to teach my students songs from their personal playlists. I also wanted a device I could use to play along with. I had been considering the Bose. Even the reconditioned one was nearly $100. more than the price I found on Amazon for the iGroove. All in all it serves me well. Very responsive bass for a small system, the dual amp gives it an extra punch and clarity. The remote is not as reponsive as I would like. I often have to press a button repeatedly for the player to react, particularly to repeat the selection. This, however, could be the fault of my older iPod Nano. All in all, the iGroove was a good choice. It looks good and sounds good!

This does the trick in the kitchen. It really is quite small compared to most units like this, which is great. The sound quality is more than good enough. Don't expect miracles and you won't be disappointed. It is thankfully free of that mid-bass boost that many such units have to pretend they have true bass when they don't--that gets annoying and this unit spares me that. I don't think I'd use this in a large room, unless I were listening from a position close to it.With my iPod Touch (2nd gen.) there is much space behind the iPod when docked (it is made to hold an iPhone) so the iPod leaned backwards considerably when ever I touched the screen. I solved this by using a small (but thick) plastic/rubber self-adhesive bumper/foot (readily available at hardware stores) and stuck it to the unit behind the iPod. Now the dock part is perfect. The unit is small, simple, good-looking, and sounds very good in my kitchen. Exactly what I wanted, and there was nothing else that came close.
