Re-circulation Pump for My Water Heater
This product was installed on May 18, 2018 by a Factory Authorized Installer with my new 75-gallon Water Heater, and it appears to be working fine. On/Off of this pump is controlled by Digital Timer.

Perfect Replacement for older original model.
Arrived quickly. Product was exactly as described and actually came with new unions and washers. Very easy install and easy instructions. Was a replacement part # for the same model and size which lasted 20 years. This one is even quieter.

Life saver
Needed it for a 100 gallon water. I bought it as a back up. I bought exact one at Fergusons for $100 more and it didn't come with the unions which I had to pay another $40.

Very quiet and efficient
Exact replacement for the pump I burned up. I do wish these had a thermal switch to prevent them from seizing up if the water is turned off.

Exact fit in 20 minutes.
This updated model fit and works perfectly. Removal of the old unit and installation of this new one took about 20 minutes. Shipping was quick. You must install a new electric power cable or reuse the old.

Did NOT come with unions
Mine was delivered without both sides of the unions and was clearly a return. Ratings plate was rattling arround in the box and the cover was held on for shipping with a rubber band.

Recirculating Pump
Just had new circulator pump installed on my hot water heater and it works great. The new pump should easily pay for itself in a year due to the reduction in my water bill. Before getting the pump installed I would have to run at least 2 gallons of water before the hot water would start coming out. This will be a big improvement and much more efficient use of water.

This review is mainly for product information and image.
1) Product image is incorrect. See attached information. This model does not have a purge outlet.
2) Incorrect Information: This model should not be used for Domestic Hot Water Circulating Systems. The pump is cast iron and will introduce rust into your system. I had rust in my system within 2 days.
3) Incorrect Information: This pump uses 85 watts not 25 watts.
The pump is easy to install and is quiet, but I purchased this pump because it said it could be used for Domestic Hot Water. It should never be used for this application and will harm your system with rust.

Reliable recirculating pump
I bought this unit to replace my current Grundsfos 1/25th horsepower hot water recirculating pump which has been a reliable pump for the past 11 - 12 years. This will be the third Grundsfos pump to be used in my home's hot water recirculating system since it was installed 24 years ago. Amazon sells this for almost $100 less than what a local plumbing supply store would charge me. The pump is quiet and uses relatively little energy, even with continuous running. I have never had any leakage problems with my previous two Grundsfos pumps.
My current hot water recirculation system has an extra return line going to the hot water lines of three bathroom faucets located more than 50 feet from the water heater so that it is constantly recirculating hot water within a closed loop of hot water lines. The advantage of this system is that I get hot water within seconds of turning on the hot water faucet or shower from anywhere in my home even on cold, freezing mornings. The disadvantage of this system is the labor and expense to run a second set of copper pipes to all of your bathrooms and kitchen however once installed the system gives you truly hot (not warm) water instantly and your cold water side remains cold.
For those who do not want to go through the expense of installing a return line there are various DIY'ers systems that will give you somewhat warm to hot water to whichever bathroom/faucet that you have installed a sensor valve between the hot and cold water supply lines under the sink. Amazon carries several such systems, for example the Grundfos UP15-10SU7P/TLC Comfort System or the Watts 500800 Premier Hot Water Recirculation Pump system which most people find to be more than satisfactory. This system utilizes your cold water line to recirculate the hot water so it eliminates the need for the additional installation of a return line and is something that most homeowners without much plumbing experience can easily install. The disadvantages of this system include putting hot water into your cold water line so that your initial output from the cold water side of the faucet is warm water, and since most sensor valves close the valves when it senses water tempurature > 98 degrees, your initial output from the hot water side is generally warm, not necessarily hot water. Also from various reviews it appears that these sensor valves tend to malfunction after a few years, either remaining stuck in the open or closed position and have to be replaced. And if you have single valve faucets this system may not work so that you may have to replace your faucets with dual valve faucets.

Replace old Grundfos 59896115 in 20 minutes
I needed to replace 59896115 Grundfos, but that model is discontinued. You can EASILY replace it with Model 59896155, WITHOUT any tools except for a 5/32 Allen hex bit(6 sided).Simply unscrew the four Allen screws holding the new electric pump to the water housing, do the same with the old existing pump after turning off the water supply, and swap them out! Make sure the new oring on the new pump stays in place,
and check for leaks. Should take 20 minutes tops. This pump is SO quiet and pumps hot water immediately. Old Grundfos pump lasted 19 years, hopefully this one is just as good or better.

Works Like A Dream
Getting the old pump out was the hard part as the bolts were frozen solid. Once the flanges were wire brushed clean and repainted the new pump slotted right in and worked right away. One warning on the installation is in order though. PURGE PURGE PURGE all of the trapped air in your water lines. When you think all the air in the lines is gone . . . it probably isn't. Check the pump periodically for a few hours to make sure. Trapped air will burn your new pump out so don't take a chance. I've also run an electrical line to the house and added a switched timer to stop the pump after a preset time. If you just let the pump operate 24/7 continuously you'll find your gas bill taking a huge hit on therms used. I found that out the hard way years ago with the old pump and added a switch in the garage near the pump. With the new switched timer at the house I no longer need to trek back and forth to the garage. Life is good in paradise. :-)
