For the price you can't go wrong, and that it the best way to describe my purchase experience.Using an A/B amp configuration, you're paying $50-$60 for speakers that sound like they could cost $100 or more. In all reality, these may be gaming speakers, but they play music better than the $150 Logitech 5.1 set-up I have. As for the gaming aspect, I have yet to break them in, but I am sure the performance is there, as well.I'm going to keep this review short by summarizing the best things you're going to get from the product. For one, say hello to crystal clear midrange and highs. I've never heard percussion so well articulated as I have heard from these speakers. It brings the experience of listening to your favorite genres alive, and in my case this is death metal, black metal and the like. It handles it all very well. As for the bass range, most reviews are right in hearing some distortion at high levels. Thankfully, the bass response is so impressive that you really shouldn't have to go anywhere past 55-60% on the dial.My advice is that anyone shell out the $50 for these speakers in addition to considering buying a backup set. Before these I was considering other models from Logitech and Creative. Both are good brands, but this particular item is a diamond in the rough - literally. Also, if you're turned off by the outwardness of the red coloration on the satellite speakers, I would say the picture makes them look a little more gaudy than they truly are. All in all, between the sub and sats I feel as if these are pretty cool-looking.Just my two cents. All I know is that I am thrilled with this purchase.

They aren't expensive, so I didn't expect much, but considering the initial quality and the fact they broke in 3 days I have to strongly recommend no one else purchase this item. Right when I received the box I knew it wasn't high quality due to the weigh - something I was aware of already in reading the product description. No biggie, wasn't looking for something professional. As mentioned in other reviews, when using the headphone jack you still hear sound bleed through on the speakers. No biggie, I didn't expect to use that feature anyway. There were initial sound problems through the speaker that could only be fixed when manipulating the connections on the back of the main control box. Seemed hokey, but ultimately I got it so the static was gone. After three days they broke altogether and emit a high screeching noise at any volume. Going in the trash. Maybe I just got a dud since others reviews are positive - take it with a grain of salt.

I really wanted to love these speakers. I have a small 2.1 Altec Lansing system that I've had for almost 8 years. I thought the GX speakers would be a nice upgrade according to the reviews. Unfortunately, I'm not impressed. The speakers are very bright. Female vocals are shrill sounding and anything in the higher Hz ranges is also very harsh. The little sub is decent though. They can definitely put out some power, but the sound quality leaves something to be desired. My old Altec system sounds much better with a flat EQ. With the GX series, I have to really tone down some of the highs to make them sound decent. Your mileage may very as always, but these are not working for me.

I bought my speakers from WalMart because the Amazon price was not competitive. I see now that they've dropped their price. Sigh ... I prefer Amazon, but sometimes their pricing practices are frustrating. The speakers themselves provide great sound for the price. They were easy to set up and I really like the control box which has an on/off-volume control, a bass control, and headphone and microphone inputs. The sub-woofer does a good job. Depending on the type of sound/music, the satellite speakers are a little shrill for my taste. I got around the problem by pointing them about 45 degrees off-axis so they were not pointing directly into my ears. I suppose I could use an equalizer to try and eliminate the problem also. Why didn't I give the speaker set at least four stars? Because the LED on the front of the control box is blindingly bright. In a dark room with only the computer monitor providing light, the brightness of the LED is glaring and incredibly annoying. I put a piece of black electrical tape over the LED and I can still see light through the tape! Also, the satellite speakers have no protection for the speaker cones. Probably not a big issue, but one does need to be careful that nothing touches or hits them.

I needed to replace my set of cheap computer speakers. This is not the first time so this time I decided to try something with a little more quality than the standard computer speakers you usually find on the shelf of your local Best Buy or computer store. Once you start looking you find that there's a pretty big price gap between low end and high end speakers. The Genus speakers fall somewhere in the middle, more toward the lower end in cost. But these sound very good -- much better than the cheap speakers they replaced. One feature I was really looking for was a local volume control. I have several devices hooked up to one set of speakers using a TCC TC-716 6-Way Stereo Source Selector. Having a single volume control makes things a lot simpler. I prefer the smaller mouse style controls some of the cheap speakers have but the bigger box used by Genus works fine in the set up I have.

Had some weird problems during the first month of use.. There would be times where the towers would emit this high frequency noise and sometimes i could hear it through the music unless the speaker volume was up pretty high. Didn't know how to fix it, and there would be other times where the speakers would make this sound(at first i thought it was the hard drive going through the speakers but it wasn't). Anyways.. These issues suddenly disappeared(if they never existed i'd give 5 stars! but i'm sure its not a widespread issue.) The mids and highs are very crisp and clear, the towers can handle higher volumes(highest i ever use is like 70-80% and they don't sound distorted). One thing i would've liked was if the sub-woofer had a bit more kick in it. I listen to a lot of hip hop and the bass presence is there but it's not that strong, but who am i to bitch about it.. I got these when they were 45 bucks, they're 51 now, but it's still worth every penny if you're looking for budget speakers.

These speakers sound really good, like others have stated, if the satellite speakers would have some sort of cover over the 3" driver to protect them, that would make me feel a bit better, I'm worry one of my kids will put their fists through them, I also wish that they could be shut off without having to readjust the volume level when turned back on, both issues very minor to me. Well worth the money, probably the best set of speakers on the market in this price range and I would buy again.

Brilliantly clear-sounding speakers is great for pumping the music in a room as big as a basement or playing instrumental and classical works for studying. Aesthetically pleasing and compact design is great for desks, etc. All of these things make me want to love this product.However...... my subwoofer appears not to be working. I've ran subwoofer tests with no sound or vibration producing out of the subwoofer whatsoever. I've cranked the volume, no dice. I have checked and double checked the wiring. I've set my equalizer to BASS BOOSTER on iTunes on my Mac Air. Still no bass. I'm disappointed in this because of all the rave reviews I've read on this product. I was really looking forward to enjoying the full production of sound this product claims to output.

To be honest, I do not own these speakers. However, my roommate owns them, and between the times I have played music on them, and listened to my roommate play music, I can say that you will not find a better pair in this price range. Due to living in a dorm, I rarely hear these speakers at full volume. Even at 50% volume or less, I can tell you with 99% confidence (math joke), that the bass is once again, the best you can get for the price. Now: Do not expect the power or quality of a $200 pair of speakers. For instance, I am saving to get the Corsair SP2500 2.1 system. The Genius speakers will not compare to these. So, if you're on a budget, but are unwilling to sacrifice quality, these Genius speakers are perfect. Again, I can't provide a more indepth review as I don't own these speakers.

I have always skimped on speakers, because, let's face it -- sound is sound, right? And if you're not a audiophile, what does it matter? Well, this sound system is making me into a believer in quality sound systems. The video games that I play sound so much better and I actually enjoy being shot at more now because, quite frankly, it sounds amazing.Now, if you could just get rid of this obnoxious blue LED on the command console, you'd be perfect!

The sound was great right off the start. However, I noticed a hiss when no audio was coming through. I unplugged, replugged, moved things around, nothing. I later tried a different audio cable from the computer to the speaker box and that cleared it up instantly. So if you hear a hiss coming from your speakers, check the audio cable connection. Just make sure your power is unplugged first.As far as the speakers, they get loud, the bass is really pretty good, and so far everything seems amazing. Good quality for the price.

I used to have the Logitech Z313's, they were okay at best. And then i stumble up on these here that match everything about my computer (my tower, mouse, keyboard glow red) And i read the reviews and i saw how awesome they were to people, there were some bad reviews, but i dont know what they are talking about, they are only $50 - $60 because of tax and shipping, and for that price id say you get more than what youd expect. The bass is amazing, even if you have a bad quality song, you can still feel and hear everything, but with a high quality song, you really dont even need to have the bass all the way up to feel like youre in an ocean..to me these are just amazing

I bought these speakers for my desktop which I use for playing games and watching videos. The sound quality is great for any game or movie. I have been playing Black Ops 2 recently and while these speakers are not full surround sound they are great for the game. The sub, which I have just below the table is great and the two side speakers have a great sound. I have never had the desire to turn them up past half and they have always performed extremely well. The only issue I have with this set is the blue light that is on to tell you that the speakers are on. It is ungodly bright especially if you have it sitting on your desk looking at you, which is the best place to have it if you are going to be adjusting the sound at all. I put some tape over the light and now the issue is gone.

The reviews don't lie, this is a bada** PC speaker system. I upgraded from a cheap pair of Altec Lansing BXR1221 2.1 Speaker System (Black) which I thought sounded OK for what it's worth, subwoofer was definitely under powered but what can you expect from something the size of a small tissue box.. This is not the case with these speakers, this subwoofer has some power to it despite it's small size difference, dubstep or any beats made to have some thumping bass sound amazing, rock still sounds good just by turning back the independent bass control slightly, youtube videos with narration sound great because of the bass control also. I found myself too often opening up beats audio and changing my sound settings just to watch youtube videos after playing dubstep because the voices were so muffled with bass. With this it's a 1 second knob turn. Love them. Recommended.

I got these becasue of all the 5-star reviews, but I don't think these are quite 5-star speakers. I replaced a set of broken Creative S2 speakers with this set and I liked the sound of the Creative speakers better. I'll go with 4 stars for these becasue they are only $50 and sound decent with some EQ. Hopefully they will keep working longer.As everyone else has commented, the look isn't subtle. These stand out on my desk with the shiny red covers on the cones and scorpion logo. There is also a bright blue off/on LED on the amp that's a little intrusive. Having the headphone jack and volume control on my desk is convenient, though it does take up some extra space.There is something odd in the midrange response, making the speakers sound boxy and a little muddy, and there is a little sibilance on cymbals and singing. Software equalization in iTunes sorts most of the issues for music. Unfortunately, I don't have systemwide EQ so I'm out of luck for games. As other reviewers have commented, the subwoofer is not very wall balanced to the treble speakers. You have to turn the subwoofer all the way up and run the system at relatively low volume to get a rich, warm bass. I don't like my computer speakers loud so it's not an issue but it's something to be aware of if you like to listen from the next room.

Well other than all the bad reviews I read.. These speakers work very well for the price.. One thing that did stick out like others were mentioning.. When you go to use the headphone jack it still puts out little sound through the speakers.. Other than that I am pleased with these and very nice for the price.. I have had these for about a month and crank them up all the time.. I give em a 4 because of the headphone jack.. but other than that I recommend for cheap price with nice sound..

I asked for these for Christmas because my older Altec Lansing speaker set was going out on one side. All I can say is that these things are amazing! The highs and mids are so clear and the bass really hits. I use these on my PS3 with a variety of games. The sound of my sword unsheathing in Skyrim, my gun firing in Black Ops 2, the engine roaring in Need For Speed. It all sounds great. You really feel more immersed in your games.Movies sound great on it as well. The soundtracks cannot sound any better. I highly recommend these. One thing is that the sub is kind of big for smaller setups so make sure you have some room.

I have to say that I am very impressed with these speakers. For the price the sound is on a par with speakers several times its price. These speakers beat hands down 2.1 speakers from Logitech and I like them better than the Bose speakers. The midtones are clear and defined, treble comes through clearly, and bass is great. The satellite speakers have a plastic housing and the surround/bass unit is made of composite, but for the price I think that is to be expected.The only reason I can think of for not purchasing these speakers is if I wanted a full surround sound setup.I think that this is one of the best purchases I have made on Amazon as a customer. The reviewers said that these were great speakers, and now that I have them they are to be believed. If you are looking for low cost computer speakers, then look no further than these. I don't think you will be disappointed.

I received these today, and immediately set them up and could not stop listening to them. Ran through all different kinds of music, different videos, and a game to test as many different kinds of sounds, and none disappointed. Had a wierd hum to them but i realized it was from my cordless home phone sitting right next to the volume box. The low price made me question if they would be a good buy, and i am glad i was wrong. These speakers pack a punch for a lot cheaper than what i was considering on spending. And thanks to the other reviews i read that eventually made my decision for me.

If you want a really nice set of speakers for the computer, these are those! While you won't 'rock the house' with them, they have really nice sound and good volume for their size. The base sounds a bit 'tinny' at times and I think if the case was lined inside, the base would sound more solid. However, it sounds fine as it is and I am very happy with my purchase!

Maybe i was over excited about the awesome reviews for this low-priced sound system, but i was a little let down. Out of the box, the speakers have a cheep, made in china feel. And yes: they are as ugly as they look. Not to mention the LED light on the front of the controls is a blinding brightness!The sound quality isn't bad, I'm no audiophile but it didn't blow me away either.all around, this is a $50 sound system. It seems to be made to be marketed for gamers: with fast and furious looks and scorpion decals on the large, bassy woofer. I'm sure explosions sound great on this system, but i bought it to listen to background music and the occasional movie on... which I'm sure other systems out there at a similar price point are just as good for. I just hope it holds up to the test of time.

I own Logitech Z-680, Klipsch ProMedia and Altec Lansing 2.1 and the Z-680 is my 1st choice, but speaking on the Genius SW-G2.1 sub it's a lil bit in the boomy end, but I haven't heard anything else in it's price range even close. Boomy or tight, turn the volume about 12:10 clockwise and tune/EQ the settings on your source player and you can't buy anything on the market in this price-range and get more dBs/SPL. Now the satellites are a bit lacking in upper mid's and highs, but over all this is probably the best you'll be able to buy at this price on the market for years to come. Whoever don't like theirs sell it to me, I need about 5 more.

First off, I will admit that my previous speakers were Soundsicks II - http://www.amazon.com/Harman-Kardon-SoundSticks-II-Multimedia/dp/B0001DBEM4 - so I knew that this was going to be a downgrade.The sound quality of these speakers is terrible. Tinny, far-away sounding- unacceptable. I'm sad- I really did do a lot of research for speakers in this price range and thought I was making a good decision- but I am highly dissatisfied with these. Not sure if I got a bad egg or a lemon, but I'd rather just jack up my laptop's internal speakers than deal with this system. I actually should have returned them- I bought them months ago and was dissatisfied from the beginning- but at this point it's probably too late.These speakers are an annoying waste of money.

I don't know where people are getting the idea that these are as good as $200 speakers. Maybe they've never heard good speakers.These tinny Chinese speakers completely lack a mid range. It's like listening to your laptop speakers + a subwoofer. You do get a lot of volume for $50 though, and what range they do make is pretty clear, and I wouldn't expect $50 speakers to be much better than this so it's not a bad deal per-se. I've noticed they sound pretty good for electronic / hip-hop, but anything with real drums and hi-hats (like classic rock) sounds, to be blunt, unlistenable. Adjusting the EQ in software helps but it's not great.All I can say is that anything that "sounds too good to be true" probably is. Oh and the RCA cable that came with it was dead on arrival, so I don't have a lot of hope that they'll last either, but who knows. I'll probably keep them because they are cheap enough that the "sound per dollar" equation works out to make them acceptable enough to own, but don't expect anything but $50-ish quality speakers, no matter what these other reviews say.
