No more difficult to install than any other dashcam, but the software is trash
The smartphone app that comes with this is absolute trash, it's way worse than even the cheap chinese copies that are available on Amazon. Save your money and get something different.

Just Perfect
Was looking for a simple unobtrusive dash cam and found it. Easy to set-up and once up and running, you can simple forget about it. I checked footage on my phone and all looks good and the simplicity of the voice control is an added bonus. So far very happy, I didn't want a preview screen, as I think these are too much of a distraction, so the Garmin is ideal. One minor gripe is that the Status LED is a bit bright at nightime, so I might partially mask it off with a bit of tape. But perhaps this is a personal thing.

Works but intermittent unless you buy the pricey Garmin cable
It works fine but remember the cable. The ones sold on Amazon basically don't work.

Not as good as the make out on youtube.
I am a class 1 hgv driver. so it purchased for work, dark is not all that good at all I have tried it in 2k and 1080/60fps. very poor picture quality.

Not good at all - poor firmware
I bought this after reading many good reviews of Garmin dash cams. Upon opening the box, I was very impressed with its appearance and how small it was!
That’s where the good parts ended.
Turned it on and followed the on screen prompts. I popped in my new memory card which is one of the best recommended ones for this unit. It went to format the card (fairly standard procedure) and i was greeted with a spinning wheel. With it being a 128gb card I guessed it may take some time, so plugged it in to charge and left it to it.
7 hours later, still not working! Tried a different mem card, much small this time using a 32gb. Same issue again.
Clearly a troubled piece of kit and was returned swiftly. I’d urge caution if you’re thinking about buying one.

Same applies as written previously below. Connection is horrendous and you need to make sure you keep checking it as being connected else you’ll end up missing days worth of footage at a time because it doesn’t tell you if it ever loses connection. The camera just stays on with the same lights on as though it is working but in reality it’s not even recording or doing anything at all. Up until you click the app and THEN it says connect again but then after you press this it keeps saying it fails to connect - therefore leading you to have to completely forget the device and reconnect and start all over again

Great mini dash cam
Really impressed so far. Easy to set up and configure. Reasonably easy and quick to view saved footage on the cam via wi-fi and download to the phone. Nice and small. Don't notice it behind the rear view mirror. After 1 month then I'd definitely recommend if you want a small cam without a screen.

Good camera
Like the size of the camera, video and sound quality good. would rather it record in upto 5 min loops rather than continuously record and then you have to trim what part of the recording you require later

Happy father!
Purchased for my Dad at Christmas to replace an ageing dash cam. Easy to fit, updated fine and is functioning fine. Can’t ask for more from something simple.

Frustrating
So far I can't get it to work. I had to send this item directly back to Garmin as it would not read the SD card. Garmin have replaced the item FOC and FOC for shipping. For the record Garmin were great at sorting this out.

Он делает так много ошибок
Мост 15 метров,он показывает, что он 3 метра.
Везет меня с большим грузовиком по маленьким грязным дорогам.
Карты не уточнены,никаких подробностей о них, зоны отдыха, стоянки грузовиков.
То, что вы можете видеть, это время и дорога
И еще много проблем.
Хотите вернуть этот товар.

Good Truckers GPS... HORRIBLE MOUNT!
I am a professional Over The Road truck driver... I have used this unit almost every day for over 4 months.
Pro’s:
1) The larger display is nice... I cant imagine trying to use the 5”. I have mine set up with the side bar displaying trip data that helps me out a lot when planning trips and navigating in the city and it still has plenty of room to show a full map. The larger display is just easier to see and touch while driving. It’s worth the extra money.
2) The maps are pretty up to date, and as long as you upload the latest maps, you shouldn’t run into any major issues if you have it set up right. The Unit asks you to enter the dimensions of your truck so it automatically routes you around low bridges and roads that are prohibited to trucks of specific weights and sizes... I have several set ups depending on what trailer I am pulling and in some places a few inches of clearance can make all the difference.
*However, no GPS unit is Magic, and sometimes its gonna put you someplace your not supposed to be... so keep your wits about you and pay attention... this is a tool to help you, not a guarantee your day will just be perfect all the time... Roads under construction, new signage, speed limits and other aspects of road travel change without notice and they just don’t tell anyone. WATCH THE ROAD!!!
3) Voice command is AWESOME... this might be one of my favorite features... its easy to use, and helps you pull up truck stops, rest areas, parking and saved locations without even having to touch the unit or take your hands off the wheel. So if you are rolling and get tired out of the blue, you can plan a quick stop for a rest or grab some coffee without having to stop and start looking stuff up on your phone or do that while you are driving (DONT DO THAT).
Con’s:
1) The mount is just Garbage... I don’t know what they were thinking with this one... and on top of it being a piece of crap, Garmin does not sell anything that you can replace it with that is better than the one included. I like the magnetic aspect which keeps the unit charged and no wires all over the dash... but every time you hit a bump it moves around and so you constantly have to adjust it and put it back in place, which is REALLY IRRITATING. You cant tighten it and as time goes by the problem just gets even worse. Bottom line... The mount SUCKS.
*Also, I have the unit with the included Dash-cam, and this issue with the mount really effects the recordings. In the event of an accident the camera will bounce all over the place and will probably be useless. Plus, you constantly have to adjust the unit while driving to make sure its pointed straight... IRRITATING.
2) Smartlink... when I got this Unit, smartlink would not connect to my iPhone... it took weeks before they resolved the problem and I was able to use this feature... I wasn’t missing much. Traffic and weather notifications are really useless and to be honest, I still rely on my phone for most of that information and its more accurate on dedicated apps.
There are a few other things I like/dislike about this unit... Would it send it back? No. It works for what it is and as far as an all inclusive unit with a dash-cam included its a pretty good value and very good build quality and display.
Once again, this is a tool to use to help you... don’t depend on it. Get an atlas, know how to read it, and keep your eyes on the road, the signs and pay attention to your instincts... oh, and get ready to buy a replacement mount and some zip ties for cable management.

Way over priced - software flaws
Garmin needs to step it up. This GPS is plagued with software issues and kiddie like performance.
I drive heavy haul. I like ability to change and add trailers, axles, weights and dimensions on the vehicle profile. It’s kept me off of weight restricted roads and bridges for the most part.
Dislikes
- Inability to search for a specific exit
- Cumbersome to figure out where you’ll be in, for example, 50 minutes.
- Graphics are utterly a joke. Sometimes I wonder if Leap Frog and Garmin teamed up for graphic design.
- no matter how you go about it, searching for a specific address is a pita. It ALWAYS searches for the address in the surrounding states rather than the city and state you type in.
- The unit randomly switches screens as if I pushed a selection with my finger. I spoke with a Garmin Tech. They’ve had several reports of this and offered free new replacement. I guess you can’t beat that.
- The smart link app does not work. I’ve tried just about everything. The GPS does not recognize that the app on the device is connected even though the phone app says it is. Content of the app is borderline junk. I just like everything to work as it should.
To sum it up, it’s expensive, there is probably a better device out there, I believe a trucker based GPS is critical for a driver, this works ok but is seriously flawed and over priced, if google Maps had a trucker type online google maps I’d by it in a heartbeat.
Oh, last but not least. I REALLY love how the darn GPS suction mount loses suction and falls from the windshield to the dash to the floor. Can it really not come with a permanent sticky mount solution as well as the suction mount?

You Simply can’t rely on the GPS to do everything.
This is indeed the perfect GPS to operate however it has its flaws with navigating problems. It will take you around places that it doesn’t have to. Basically it doesn’t have the intelligence it needs to take you on the simplest route. For example it will only use truck routes. For roads that aren’t listed as tuck accessible in the GPS software it will avoid taking you on those roads, even though those roads are perfectly fine for trucks and it’s much shorter. It will still take you on a longer route because it doesn’t have that information it needs and it won’t take you there. Basically there are plenty of roads that have truck access and are not listed in the Garmin database, the gps will avoid perfectly fine roads to drive on. Maybe it’s just truck GPS rule of thumb... In my book Garmin needs to put in more work and actually upgrade the maps to real specs. Here’s a perfect example look up address, 56 Sugar house Rd Alstead, NH 03602. This gps will take you up the mountain on a dirt road in the forest and get you stuck, when there is a perfectly paved road all the way up to the Maple Farm.
