Android app does not work
I have the mini 2 and the 57 in my car. They are both hard wired. The cameras themselves are great. The only issue I have, and this is a MAJOR one, is that on my Samsung S21 Ultra, I cannot view 99% of the videos it has taken. The app tried loading in the thumbnails from the cameras, but nothing happens. You will be lucky if 2 or 3 appear out of hundreds. The only way I can view footage is by taken the memory cards out of the cameras. This then doesn't allow me picture in picture from the two cameras.
If you are using Android, check out the reviews on the app store as, as of today (23 Jan 22), the app does not work fully.

Quality hardware
I bought both this one and a BlackVue to compare, and the Garmin impressed me a lot more. It’s thoughtfully designed with nice tactile buttons and clear status lights (a bit strong, though - I may tape over them (UPDATE 2022-07: I’ve gotten used to them)). The instructions and app onboarding are well thought through.
It was easy to install in my Honda - no special skills or tools needed.
Please note that the longer of the two included USB cables is angled upwards (to route the cable along the ceiling and down the side) and the shorter one is angled downwards (to go straight down to a socket).

What a great device, I'd get one for the back if I wasn't in a cabriolet. Far more than just a dash cam, speed alerts, traffic moving etc etc, well worth the money aswell 👍👍👍

Poorly built, buggy, bad by design
I've owned this camera for two months now, and I've actually had a replacement from Garmin in that time due to the issues I'm about to describe. The same issues persist on both devices, so my advice would be to NOT purchase this device. It's badly built. You don't want to have an accident and then realise the dash cam isn't recording!
Issue with slow memory card performance - I purchased the Garmin recommended memory card, a SanDisk High Endurance. The dash cam gives me constant warnings about the speed of the SD card, so I tested the speed on my computer using a speed test tool - it is performing optimally. I replaced the SD card just in case, received the same error from the dashcam. As a result, some recordings were lost. Both cameras showed this error.
Issues with connectivity - frequently, both cameras would disconnect from my iPhone and I would have to set up the camera from new. This happened more than once on both cameras. Whilst it did not delete my recordings, it is an inconvenience. Also, the dash cam connects to WiFi (great) and you can view a live stream, but you can't view the videos on the camera over WiFi.
Issues with not recording - my camera was always on, but sometimes it would become "frozen" and would not record, would not connect to my phone, would not do anything. It also meant it was not recording, and there were missing recordings. The only way I could fix it was by resetting it. This happened with only the one camera, but happened multiple times. I have only had the replacement camera for 2 weeks.
The app - the app on iOS is really poorly written and buggy. The UI is horrible, the constant switching between Bluetooth and WiFi when trying to do anything is a real pain...
Vault - it talks about Vault on the product description but you must subscribe and pay a monthly fee to use this, which is a bit of a rip off!

Dash cam for you
Was in a car accident and my dash cam broke a few before and has no footage to show. So bought this, and the camera is lovely. It’s small and compact. Voice commands and Wi-Fi so you can download photos and videos. The park safe mode is a good mode to have aswell. I like how it’s sticks onto the windscreen with m2 tape rather than suction cups.

Not usual garmin quality
The device is fairly simple to get up and running, however one of the reasons I purchased is due to functionality of garmin drive app to download videos via local WiFi.
My Samsung has been unable to connect whatsoever, however I have eventually been able to connect the device to my partner's Motorola.
This is not practical as the garmin drive app only allows you to register a device to one phone, so I will not be able to review any videos on my own phone, and will need to remove the micro sd card and plug into a computer to review footage.
Only putting 2 stars as this is not a simple plug and play. I would stay clear if you have a Samsung phone as the device will not work as intended and as mentioned you cannot then see the device on your phone, and the device can only be linked to one phone.
Poor quality for the money wanted.
Positives: supplied with both a long and short cable, enabling you to hide cable if you so wish.
Also a very small size, about the same size as a remote key fob.
Good adhesion on the sticky pads provided.

It's ok, does the job
Video quality is fine for vehicles which are really close to you, but any more than around three car lengths away and the numberplates are a bit difficult to read. Partly this is possibly due to the super wide-angle of the camera, which is there to compensate for dodgy camera positioning by the user.
The dashcam was generally straightforward to set up as a standalone device but syncing it to a phone to unlock its features was aggravating and fiddly.
Curiously when the dashcam is lit up as red then it's recording.
The sticky pads that come with the camera are an unusable disgrace. They stick to the windshield by themselves but the camera often fell off, especially on a bumpier road. We ended up having to purchase an official Garmin suction cup at Halfords (for about £13) which doesn't officially support the Dashcam Mini 2 but still works with it.
Overall, it's... Ok. You get what you pay for.

Tiny camera, hardly noticeable
Easy to install, sync and use. Not suction though, adhesive pads. I chose this for its size because I didn’t want anything in my line of vision. Really easy to use and sync once you have the phone app.

Great discrete dashcam
Wasn’t sure about this - but very happy with the dashcam it’s very small and discrete, responds will to audio commands and hard braking, etc recording and storing video easily.
Supplied adhesive pad (and spare) are fine and do a good job. Some comments about these not being any good but once fixed if camera doesn’t need to be moved they seem very solid.
WiFi connection was a bit fiddly to set up but once done works solidly every time, playback over WiFi is good resolution.

this camera comes with faulty software !
it's going to ask you to initialize your language each every time you power on your car !!!!
if you are driving professionally - you will be asked to initialize the software each and every time you put your keys in the contact !
and no, the bug is not cleared by the Garmin Express firmware update !

Good dash cam
Good compact dash cam. The app works well too. I did have a problem when I mounted it inside rear tailgate on estate car with a hardwire kit as lost good DAB radio signal when it wrote to the sd card. Had to remove it and use it in my other car front screen which it performs great. One of the smallest cams, easy to hide behind the mirror.

МИНУСЫ: - Первая попавшаяся камера была неисправна, и мне потребовалось пару часов и несколько обращений в службу поддержки клиентов Garmin, чтобы разобраться в сути. Камера не подключалась к приложению Garmin. Обслуживание клиентов было хорошим, и они прислали мне новую камеру, как только я отправил обратно неисправную. Хотя это было немного хлопотно и отнимало время, отсюда и потеря двух звезд.

Recently bought this dashcam. Works as expected. slightly disappointed with the price. They should also include the polaroid lense with the item.

I've just received this, and although "setting" up was easy, in that I got it running very quickly, I've been unable to connect via the live view, I followed the instructions in the app, connected to wi-fi (states it's connected) but after waiting for several minutes nothing ever appeared, this applies to reviewing the videos as well, now my only option appears to be taking the card out and reviewing of a third party device. this makes it awkward to position in your car correctly not being totally aware of the view I'm pointing it at.
If I can resolve this issue I may re-visit this review, however until then, if you're considering buying a dashcam, I would be wary of purchasing this device. I won't be getting an additional couple to fit in my other vehicles.

Peace of mind
Caught my car accident perfectly with its wide angle view, nice and clear! Was able to retrieve the footage and have it sent to my insurance within half an hour of the accident. Highly recommended!

Everything is good except Bluetooth issue
It'll always interfer with my car Bluetooth audio, songs will always stutter (even if I tick the option in the app), also many people complained about the issue online and garmin doesn't want to fix it
Other than that, everything is perfect.

I bought a camera before. I was very happy with it, so decided to add one for my back window. You can speak to this updated version and Garmin to record or take a picture. I had just the right amount of lead to reach the back window. I have a small car, I’d struggle with the lead if I had a bigger car. The quality of the playback is fantastic. It’s highly recommended.

Great little dashcam , never had a garmin dashcam before bought this to replace my old dashcam , i am really impressed with vdo quality and their night shot ability that come from very little dashcam with so many features such as speed camera warning , collision warning , lane departure warning ,this dashcam is a must buy

The software is utterly useless, 95% of videos just stay swirling and you can never watch them, therefore useless if you actually wanted to view an incident.
sadly I bought 2 of these as they were small and by a well know brand. I keep hoping they finally reply to my email or do a software update, but its been 6 months.

Totally pointless
Used with an android phone (s20 fe 5g) that I can connect everything too, old and newer tech but this thing just refuses to connect to live view and obviously, without that you can't tell what you're actually looking at. Really quick and simple when you're handing over your personal info for Garmin but to actually be useful as a camera? Put your money somewhere else.
Don't bother with this one, nice idea but you'll waste your time.
