Following my earlier questions about the V370, I can happily confirm that though the box itself only mentions W7, the Epson Perfection v370 Photo works perfectly with Windows 8. In addition, I'm digitising a lot of 35mm slides that are glass-mounted and it transfers them without any issue. The embedded software for controlling the output is pretty sophisticated and I've had little cause to use my editor (Fast Stone) I'm running in Home Mode @ 800 dpi and I am happy with the compromise between speed of reproduction v 1200 dpi quality. Noisy? All things are relative, I suppose - no difference to my ears between this and my Xerox 4800.

Had to adapt it a bit as some of my negatives were from late 20's so did not fit the holder. Absolutely fab. Got to see photos never seen of my Great great Grandma. Had so much fun and so have my friends and family who have seen all the old pictures. It was really good at scanning the old photos as well. Extremely pleased.

I replaced my old Epson Scanner (10 Years old) 6 months ago and am very pleased with this scanner. Quick warm up time and software enables you to scan several images into a multi-page PDF file. I am using the Scanner with Windows 7 and 8 and Mageia Linux. Note - The software is not so advanced under Linux but is perfectly usable.

Having changed from Windows XP to Windows 7, my Epson scanner, which had worked perfectly, was not compliant with the new operating system and Epsom said there were no drivers for it.
I thought of changing to Canon, but only Epson, for the price I was prepared pay, offered the ability to scan negatives - I have several thousands of them from the 60s. So, Epson it had to be. I bought it and just as before, it works like a dream.
I'm still peeved that many manufacturers want us to keep upgrading, but I suppose that's the way business is today.
If you want/need a multi tasking stand-alone scanner, then the Epson Perfection V370 is an excellent buy.

Have only done a couple of tests using a slide, but so far very pleased. Had to download the software as the net book I'm using it on doesn't have a CD drive, but installation was still easy. Very easy to scan a slide, just had a put in the right adaptor, remove the lid light cover and the software auto detected that it had a slide. Can scan up to 4 slides at a time.

Reasonable quality scans very quickly. Mostly intuitive to use. Lost one star because replacing white screen when switching between photo and slide scanning is a wee bit fiddly. Only part that lets it down. Good value.

I went for the used (as new) option, it came the next morning.tried to install it on my Pc running Win.Pro 7 32bit ver.'Computer says no'. No driver would install, so after trying everything including updating this and that- disabling anti-virus -firewall- searching the web for help, (many hours)-waste of time got nowhere. Then tried it on my Win7 Ultimate 64bit Laptop and bish bang bing it installed and all was well. According to specs. It's supposed to be compatible with 32/64bit vers. Maybe it will work on your version of win.7 32bit-I don't know why it would not install on mine anyways after wasting so much time I scanned in a slide, (which is the only reason for getting this) and results were ok. Photos and docs also worked well, software is a bit basic but does the job, the unit itself is easy to use and fairly quick-good for the money, but I could have done without the install hassle.

Arrived in two days after ordering and pleased with the Scanner.
It was easy to set up and tried it out with documents, negatives and transparencies.
The negatives were better than the original prints for colour reproduction.
A pity about my older Epson Scanner which was not compatible with Windows 7.
Had that one for 13 years and still works good so I hope this V370 lasts as long withoiut problems.

My need: To scan about 700 old prints and 35mm slides without expensive hardware I may never use again.
The Epson: Set up was straightforward. Very easy to use. Prints just sit on the glass as for any scanner. For the slides, rest the frame on the glass, slot the slides on top. Simple.
Would've been nicer: If you could do more than 4 slides at a time. If it was a bit quieter.

I still have not used all of its capabilities,but have so far found that it is easy to use & produces quite good images from slides.I hope to use some of it's other features as soon as possible.

I purchased this item to scan very old photographs i.e. over 80 years old. Used a high dpi and it really worked for the job I bought it for. The only downside was that there was no manual in the box and you had to download it from the internet. It was very difficult to find the manual and when I did it was only 2 pages - how are you to learn how to scan photos, slides, negatives with only a few pictures to show you how.It could easily have been printed out and added to the box.
I will just have to experiment with the scanner on how work out how best to use it.

Way back in 2008 I purchased a Nikon Coolscan V ED 35mm slide scanner which cost about four times the price of this product. The Epson blows the Nikon away! It is far faster for start and the quality is very good. You can scan up to four 35mm slides at a time. The Epson knows how many you are copying and individually saves them as JPEG files to your PC without you having to do it yourself. I've only used it on automatic so far and I'm very happy with the results.
If you load the software onto your PC before you connect the Epson via the USB lead you'll have no problems at all in setting it up. I never read the instructions and didn't have a problems with the software. Once it's loaded and you connect up... its ready to go.
Well worth buying!... I might actually get that slide collected completely copied now :o)

I am very impressed with this scanner. It has been used for old slides. negatives and photos.. The quality of the slides and negatives, some of which are 50 years old, is impressive.

My perversion fuelled antics are usually accommodated by amazon products but in this case, I was wrong.
I will now try to seek compensation n from Epson for not stating that this product could not hold the mighty weight of my explosive derrere.
I will invest in a sturdier scanner. Canon's Bummscanner 1.1 seems like a good choice.

I bought this so I could copy all my photo albums for my daughters 18 th party. The supplier dispatched straight away, however the courier held onto the item for 4 days. I purchased as the eta was Tuesday before the party, giving me time to scan multiple photos. I called yodal ( cost me 12.00) drove down to Yodal,( the driver had the item so i couldn't collect it) complete nightmare!! tidal were rubbish. Received the parcel the day before her party and spent half the night scanning. Was not happy!!
On the up side the Epson scanner is perfect. I haven't used the negative scanner yet, but I will the photos come out clearly and the scanner was simple to set up . Multiple scanning is great.

Purchased the product for only one purpose - to scan high quality pictures of collectable coins. The only downside to this is the auto settings which I just cannot figure out. Some silver coins are automatically scanned in Black and White when I would prefer a colour scan. Nevertheless, you cannot fault the scanner quality because it is perfect. A single speck of dust can be viewed in the pictures which just goes to show the power of this beast.
It powers up in seconds too which is just amazing.
Purchased this product when it was just released and when it came into stock the price had dropped but the Amazon system did not recognise the order. Contacted Amazon via live chat and this was immediately resolved and item posted out within the usual Amazon.co.uk timescale.

I read a review that said a 120 slide holder was available for this product, I contacted the company and they didn't know anything about it unfortunately.

This was to replace an Epson Perfection 2400 Photo which sadly was not compatible with new computer running Win.7
Pleased to report that set up was a 'piece of cake' have scanned and printed photo's, negatives, and of course documents with a combination of black & coloured text, and could not find anything to complain about

Ok so what can we say. the price vs quality is just great. the footprint is very small and scans extremely fast. the software works fine and installation to tin 8 64 bit was without incident.
i must admit i prefer this product used with a laser printer as opposed to an all in one inkjet scanner printer.
the scan quality and copy quality are extremely good although i am not a photographer. mine is used for general purpose office and personal work.

Here's a scanner that's simple to use and in professional mode, not full auto, very straight forward, and I'm no expert. Scanning slides is a doddle. At the moment the family album is not only being digitalised but enhanced. Faded prints with the aid of photoshop get a breath of life.
If you want a scanner that scans beautifully without fuss and doesn't cost the earth I recommend this.
