Received it today. Easy to setup. Very fast LAN Gbs and WAN. With Comcast WAN connection delivered over 27Mbs on Speakeasy. My old Linksys BEFSX41 could only pump 14Mbs max. Upload speed is the same ~730Kbs. Also, some folks are tempted to verify Gbs speed with casual file copying from one PC to another. Not so easy: with modern hard drive you can only scratch Gbs bandwidth (~25% utilization max) simply because HD could only deliver about 30-35 MB/s sustained read/write rate (~300Mbs). Gbs LAN could push 125MB/s on both send and receive channels (full duplex). In order to saturate the link you will need to spend a big chunk of green for raid 0, or 10 array with 4+ disks on both PCs. Took some time to set time restriction policy for kids PCs. As usual, it takes two blocking policies: one for early morning and one for late evening hours. Unit interface is impressive and you can feel the quality of router software and linux OS heart is beating in this speed devil. Unit came with firmware v1.7, upgraded it to v1.8 right away as it was available. Just a note: do not forget to enable automatic time configuration, otherwise router will show some funny date/time stamps in the logs. Very surprised with features and unit build quality. Xbox360 works flawlessly on Xbox-Live. Would recommend this router ...any time...

I use this router as both a switch and a router for 3 xbox 360's. One of the LAN ports is used for our wireless DI-514 so that the wireless works at the same time. If you have a cable modem or higher I HIGHLY suggest this router, the setup was simple and tech support is quick to respond. I have no problems on Xbox Live now that I have this router.

If your an online xbox 360 gamer, I highly recommend this router. We have two Xbox 360s and had trouble logging onto XBLive. I made this purchase because it's an XBLive approved router. Right out of the box, plugger her in and we were set. No port forwarding, no enable PnP, no DMZ enable, no Static IP addressing. Great product. Hope it works for you as smoothly as it did for me.

This is an incredible router; fast and easy. I am getting 1 gig up and 10.5 gigs down. My Linksys SR41 could not handle a 10gb line. I also tried the new Linksys RVS4000 which was slow and very intermittent; had to constantly re-boot the unit. The D-Link DGL-4100 just rocks! The firewall is completely stealth!

I read some of the reviews on this router and they seemed to be good.We went on broadband service not so long ago and changed our phone service to Vonage.We started off using a Linksys router but it became true what the installation guy said of them that we would be always doing resets with it,so I eventually changed to Netgear,everything worked fine for a while,then, we started having phone call problems where the caller would still hear us but we could not hear them.It could have been the broadband service at the time or could have been the Vonage device,but every phone call had this problem,since getting this D-Link Router we do not have the problem any more.The router works fine and have not had to do any resets yet.I do do some online gaming and have had no issues there either.

I had a NetGear RT314 and it was doing a fine job till I upgraded my cable service to fast download and upload speeds then I had a problem. I get 15mg download and the NetGear, because of it age was, only 10mg for the Internet port. So I spent a couple of days on line reading several reviews of different routers. After awhile it became clear if I wanted a wired router that the D-Link DGL-4100 was the best option. I ordered it and have been using it for several months now and its great. I love its it configurability and options. While I have most of the settings turned off as i don't require them the rest of the settings were very easy to setup with the built in user guild and the one that came on the disk. I have not had a single issue with this router so far and am very happy with it .

This is the best router that I have ever owned!! It is letting me get a faster download speed, my avg ws about 900kbs but now I am upat 1.2 mb per second!!! This router is also letting me see the other Vista pcs which my old router would not let me access. Now my wife and I can play our games together which before we had to join someone elses game to play.Get This Router!!!!

Ever wonder how many Amazon product reviews are submitted by corporate shills? In the case of the DGL-4100, I'm ready to guess it's about 85%.Okay, I'm not totally serious serious in that estimate. I'm just disappointed in the product.I'm not a gamer, and perhaps that's why the DGL-4100 didn't work for me. I like to download tv programs via BitTorrent. I download whole seasons at a time, which runs into the multiple Gigabytes. As you other BitTorrent enthusiasts may know, the average home network router has a tendency to freeze when BT pulls too many connections through it. I find it very depressing to get up in the morning (or come home from work) and find that my downloads stopped short many hours ago.For some months now I've been in search of an affordable router to avoid this problem. Considering what I've spent so far, perhaps I would've been better off to buy something expensive and capacious from the start.In any case, it's difficult to derive any sort of consensus about router efficacy from the Web. There probably are more than a few lying corporate shills floating around cyberspace, but mostly there are well-meaning people who report good or bad results without taking into account operating system, exact router model, broadband type, BitTorrent client, or the size of the torrents they download.I was mildly excited to find so many positive Amazon reviews for the DGL-4100. Perhaps, I thought, a router built for high-performance gaming would account for connection issues similar to BitTorrent's. Right about now, the cognescenti reading this little tale of woe are probably laughing their butts off.Let me cut to the chase here. After I hooked up the DGL-4100 and started two BT downloads (one a mere 1.5 G, the other 22 G), everything looked fine... for about three hours. Then the silly thing froze on me, as happened with the Linksys and Netgear routers (wired and wireless) I've tried. I obtained the latest firmware for it (January 11, 2006), installed this, and tried again. The results were similar, except that now I noticed the router freezing on me even during BT-free Web-surfing. Regardless of my BitTorrent client (Azureus, uTorrent, BitComet)or its settings, the results didn't improve.If you're a gamer, maybe you'll roll the dice on the DGL-4100. If you're a BitTorrent enthusiastic such as myself, you should probably keep looking.

As a speedy router, the DGL-4100 is okay. However, creating firewall rules to control my kids' access is terrible. One cannot allow certain protocols, like SMTP to let them get email, while denying other types of access. The manual says if you create a schedule for a computer, access will be denied if access is requested outside of the schedule times; not so, I had to set up a blocking schedule. Tech support is offshore from USA, probably India, and the support techs do not know the product, cannot answer questions, have questionable English skills and my calls were dropped twice. I'm returning the router.

The device works as expected. When I used to have my Netgear broadband router, downloading file from my PC, my Xbox Live connection would suffer. With the QoS features of the D-Link DGL-4100, I no longer have lag time when my other machines are accessing the net. If you are a novice, this can be a daunting product.I would recommend this router for anyone that wants the best broadband router for internet gaming. Whether it be console (Xbox 360, PS3, Wii) or PC gaming.

Unit was DOA. I could not get this unit to connect to my network or to a standalone PC. Tech support was useless. I returned the unit after a lot of wasted time.

Replaced a Siemens SpeedStream 2406 router hoping to improve lagging online gaming and improve voip call quality simultaneously.Using automatic settings, I have been pleased with the results. Online games run faster -- was getting lag or worse, now have great results. Voip calls clear.All at the same time.

I bought 2 of these and while they worked as I expected a switch should work for the first couple of months I started noticing that my machines were displaying network connection / reconnection messages all the time. I assumed it was the network card which I then replaced but after getting the same connect/reconnect message all the time I bought a Netgear gigabit switch and now have no problems at all. This was the first time I bought D-Link so it's hard to say there is a pattern here but the switch is obviously of low quality and after reading other feedback I would say this is a fairly common problem with these switches. Suggest you DO NOT BUY a D-LINK Switch.

This seems to be a great router! It was easy to set up initially, with enough bells and whistles for savvy people to go ahead and improve they're security later when they're ready.The default setup is quite secure, then, if you want to poke a hole through the protection, you can fine-tune it more, and set it so someone could access a specific port on your system from the outside.Speed-wise, it seems to be doing what it's supposed to do, which is to arrange for gaming packets to pass through in the minimum time. Vonage packets are being well routed, also.The logs show how many attacks are being thwarted... you won't believe how many "messenger" attacks there are, plus attempts at hacking into every port you can imagine. This gives you a good sense the router is doing its work admirably.Add to this the pretty lights, and you have a really great router! ;-)

I bought this router to replace a wireless router to become the main WAP and LAN interfaces on my network.I now run a wireless access point off the router, as well as a Linksys phone adapter-router, two gigabit switches, two print servers, several computers and a network hard drive.The router was simple to configure and had many, many options to enable my Vonage internet phone router to access the internet without interfereing with my other computer tasks. I was also able to easily make several configuration adjustments for my network.

I had this thing up and running in about 10 minutes! I don't currently play any online games such as WoW that require port-forwarding, etc. but the on-screen menu looks like it would be easier to do than my previous Linksys router. This is my first D-Link product and I have to say I'm very impressed!

I purchased this wired router after returning a defective Linksys router. It has a 4-port output switch that supports 10/100/1000 bps speeds. It worked well with my Netgear GA311 1 Gigabit NIC cards, although it doesn't support jumbo frame mode. I was getting an average of about 9 MBytes per second transferring files between computers through this switch. The setup was easy through the IE7 web client interface. The router supports firewall configurations for many popular games, although I haven't used this feature yet. The quality control appears good. I had two interactions with D-Link customer service to investigate a problem that turned out to be a defective cable modem - one bad and one good.

This is not a good switch. I have this switch in a production environment and it died without warning a year after installation. I returned the product to D-Link and got a replacement but the replacement died two months later. Instead of returning it again, I will be getting a different brand switch. I will now be careful to avoid D-Link products.

I hated replacing my L*nksys BEFVP41, because it forced me to use a software VPN solution vs. the build in hardware crypto solution. The bottom line is that I needed a router that didn't need extremely frequent reboots, primarily after (more like *during*) bittorrent sessions. B.Shock mentions upgrading with a 2006.1.11 firmware update, but there is no such update. I'm currently running firmware v1.7 with game fuel activated and appropriate rules set up. I also run a home web and e-mail (linux based) server, 3 client machines and a laptop. The UPnP implementation is much more solid than the previous router as well. In addition, I've had torrent running, usenet binary grabs, playing Unreal Tournament 2004 online while my wife was on Skype (w/ video) to Europe with friends with no issues. I've had zero reboots of the router. The lights are very bright, but don't bother me since it sits on a shelf in the laundry room with an ethernet run that goes to a switch in the computer room. I'm very happy with the purchase and performance of this unit.

We have been using this gaming router for nearly two months. It works great. It was a snap to setup and offers the features we needed to play various online games without loss of connection or lagging. Our prior Linksys router just did not measure up to the DGL-4100 in its default mode. For the first time we can have three of our computers playing Battlefield 2 with little or no lag. If you are a gamer, you need to get the DGL-4100 or its wireless brother the DGL-4300.

I bought this router because I was trying to get (2) X-Box 360's running on my single cable internet connection. This was something I could never do with my previous router. It works flawlessly Setup was as easy as plugging it in Done! I can now run (2) X-Box 360's on the same connection, host a match and be downloading music on my computer at the same time with no problem at all! I WOULD HIGHLY RECCOMEND TO ANY SERIOUS GAMERS!!!!
