As smart switches go this is an idiot savant.Web interface? Check.Command Line Interface? Not so much.Port based VLAN? Check.802.11.Q Tagged VLAN? CheckBoth at the same time? Not so much.Most of the other smart switch features seem to be there as well.So, for moderately high end home or small business, Excellent!For medium or larger business with complex environments? Not so much.

I thought I checked this out however after a little configuration time I realized you have to bond a pair of ports to create a trunk. Unfortunately I only have one wire going to the building it was intended for. A bonded pair would make a good trunk but until I run another cable no vlans. Other than that looks like a good switch.

Replaced old switch with this one, and what a speed difference!! We have 8 computers, 3 printers, phone systems and surveillance system hooked up to this. The computers are different versions of Windows (XP, 7), and connected without any problems.The buyer should have some knowledge of switches and routers, as the included instructions are some what limited.

I had to have my first one replaced just before the warranty ran out on this. The replacement has always been connected to my UPS, along with my cable modem, and now, almost a year later, it sporadically drops an insane number of packets. Running the test at pingtest.net, I will get tests with typical <25ms ping and <10ms jitter, but >20% packet loss, followed by tests that say 0% packet loss with 200-400ms ping and jitter from the same server. This is with being the lone device on the router. Bypass the router using either of the cables that were inline before, and I get <25ms ping, <10ms jitter, and 0% packet loss every time from the same server. Farther away servers have higher ping, but always 0% packet loss.Previous 4-star review:I bought this router to replace a basic, cheap wired router that had become very flaky. I looked at some router reviews to realize that some of those cheap routers can limit the bandwidth of a single port's WAN throughput to 7M, but I have 10M service available. Then when I found this router, I was very interested in the GameFuel technology because I wanted a router with QoS features, specifically for my PS3. I found a review that showed this router's handling of multiple devices with and without the QoS, and knew that was something I was looking for, so that I wouldn't have to unplug other devices from the router when I play games online.Unfortunately, when I was trying to set up the GameFuel rules, I couldn't prioritize ports for my games over the voice/text comm ports on my PS3 without knowing what every possible game port was. I had a simple rule for the COD ports (after a lot of hunting--PS3 port info is much more scarce than PC game info), and another simple lower priority rule for the PSN ports. When I tried to add a generic rule to cover the rest of the ports on the PS3, it wouldn't allow any overlap. So, I ended up with generic rules for every device, and the PS3 is prioritized over anything else on the network, but network on the PS3 is all treated equally.

I've gone through a lot of routers and all of them seem to just stop working occasionally. They had to be reset to work again. That got tiresome so I got The D-Link Gamer Lounge router based on reviews. It has NEVER stopped working in the 9 months I have had it. Absolutely solid. It also seems a little bit faster than others. I am not a gamer, so many of the settings do not apply to my usage.

I had this worked good for five months then could not get on internet call them and sent it back they sent it back to me and still dont work i no it is the d link because i put my cisco router back on and internet working fine i call them about this and all i got was a runaround and it was all scratch up i want never buy noing from d link a gain. I scoured the internet trying to find the fastest gigabit router possible, and I was a little hesitant to buy a router that didn't look like much. When the product came I was surprised how solid it was, it was a block, very solid. The web configuration interface is amazing, compared to Netgear's web config utility it is the Mona Lisa.The router is fast, very fast, now that I don't have my wireless router doing everything the work load is spread more evenly (between wired computers and wireless), it is again, super fast. I am extremely pleased with the performance.This router is great for anyone looking for a fast wired router, the only draw back is that the WAN is 10/100 which shouldn't be a problem because most people don't have speeds faster than 100megabits per second.Basically, this router is perfect for anyone.

It was released on March 19, 2011, so it's newer than some of the other well-rated switches sold on Amazon.Similarly to the DGS-1024D switch, this switch is also fanless, quiet and energy efficient.This switch provides an easy to use web interface to manage advanced features. Works great and after I installed it, I never had to bother with it again in almost 18 months. This may sound like a luxury, but I wish I could the same about my wireless access point which seems to die every few days.Great stable, reliable product.

I bought the Gamerlounge Router 6 months ago and was inspired to jump back into Amazon today and share how excellent a product it is. I spent very little time setting it up originally as the QoS stuff is mostly automatic. It worked out of the box exactly as I'd hoped, and has been doing a flawless job of keeping my Xbox Live experience lag-free while handling all the other traffic in the house with ease. The QoS management adds no appreciable delay or processing impact, even with 6 computers, 2 Xboxes and 3 mobile devices sometimes all using the network at once. It seems to especially handle outbound traffic better than other consumer routers I've used, streaming video to my iPhone at an external IP while downloads and gaming traffic go uninterrupted.I guess the biggest testament to D-Link's effort with this router is that I haven't thought about it in months. It just works, exactly how I wanted and without any hassle. I'm very satisfied with the purchase and have since chosen several other D-Link devices that have been equally excellent and affordable. They really know what they're doing, it seeems, and the with the Gamerlounge Router have done an excellent job of understanding what customers really want.

my previous router (linksys) could not handle 2 xboxes (on xbox live) and 2 computers (surfing web) at once. quite often someone would get disconnected from xbox live. this thing works amazing. have been using it for 3 days now....no problems at all. we now have 3 xboxes in the house, all can play online while i surf the web at same time with no one getting disconnected. i have streamed netflix while 1 xbox was online playing halo reach, no problems. i am thoroughly impressed. dont know about reliabiliy yet. easy to set up....plug and play basically but make sure you turn on "gamefuel" in the router settings. i also have a switch coming off router feeding 2 computers and a WAP. so ports 1-3 used for 3 xbox's and the 4th port going to linksys switch feeding everything else, works great. i dont have kids complaining about getting disconnected from xbox live anymore. definitely worth the $100.update........still working great. 3 xboxes online (1 playing halo reach, 1 playing black ops, 1 playing medal of honor) and this router, no disconnects! nuff said.

Decided to gig my backbone at home, bought this with the 5 and 8 port gig dlink switches. Easy setup. Ran into a problem though using vpn. It connected w/out issues using TCP, but would not connect using UDP. Tech support was clueless (hence 4 out of 5 stars) till i asked them how to turn IPSEC off for VPN using ALG (helps if you read the manual). They put me on hold till they figured that one out themselves. Once i turned that off, UDP connection works great.Overall, great product, great price.

I have had this product for about three years now. Unlike other routers I've had experience with I do not find myself needing to reboot it once a month. Configuration is simple and there is plenty of flexibility for those who want to do a lot with it.

Lots of dropped packets, SPI kills most good outbound connections. Had a really bad experience with this. No firmware updates since 2006 - so don't expect any fixes.

I highly recommend for everyone - from novice to power-user - who needs a wired Gigabit router.I have been using this router with my Apple Airport Express for more than a month now and it is great. The problem I was having was that I wanted the Airport Express as my wireless access point (for a variety of reasons including music streaming to my speakers) but I needed a wired router to connect my other devices like TiVo and VoIP. It seems that at the big box retailers all that is being sold is WiFi g routers, not simple and feature rich wired ones.When I came across this one on Amazon I was impressed. Using it I have found it to be a great router. Out of the box it supported VoIP traffic prioritization (QoS) so I have stutter-free VoIP calls. Netflix streaming and Amazon.com Video On-demand is fast too! I also run some more advanced configurations through it for port forwarding and Web servers with ease. Other devices I have tried were miserable and lacked basic features.This router is super fast, reliable and feature-rich.

It's not that I don't like to share, it's just that sharing an internet connection with a gaming husband when I spend a lot of time online is just not fun after a year. We've only had it for one day, but my husband installed it in just a few minutes, which shows how easy it is ;) and all of his game systems are hooked up to it, and we all have internet. What's not to love?! My prior experience with routers was a horrible, cheap Netgear one. It was very complicated to configure, but this one was a breeze. No complaints, so far. My husband tested the connection with Fable 3 on the xBox and said he didn't notice any lag during gaming. My only advice is make sure your ethernet controller has a driver, and you aren't only able to use a USB to connect to the modem for internet access. We clean installed xp on the computer, and because the driver wasn't installed, I had to fix that problem first. We're very happy with our new router.

New out of the box it was easy to plug in, tun on and hook up, but it just did not work. D-link techinical support was very helpful, but they could not make it go either.Apparently, this is an older model of D-link router. One of the first D-link tech support comments was to tell me they have a newer model that replaces this one.

I had great hopes after readings the specs and review that this router would be resolve the issue of my Vonage calls getting impacted when there were large emails being sent/delivered, or for when I forgot to shut down the Bit torrentsI read the manual, configured the router, tested it, called tech support who were nice, but unable to resolve the issue....I imagine that for the gamers they will never know the reality of the QoS feature...but it's obvious when your voice call is impacted ...for many of you it may not be an issue, but I routinely receive 8-10 Meg files when on the phone, and it always interrupts the Vonage phone discussion...my recommendation is the ZyXEL usg20, it is a small version of a 'real router' and I found it easy to configure, and most importantly I can now receive and send huge files and have a phone discussion at the same time!

This wired router rocks. I tried products from netgear four different times and they just sucked. This has been bulletproof and I get an extra 6 Mb/s thruput. I would definitely recommend to anyone that doesn't need wireless.

Most disappointed. Item was needed urgently. It arrived with defective power supply - no output. Item powered up using the supply from my old router, so there is no doubt where the problem lay. This is an expensive router. I would at least expect it to go through some kind of final QA check before shipping.

I purchased this router with the hope that it would solve my son's "lag" issues on his X-Box 360 Elite. Best investment we ever made. The lag is nearly gone (hey - some is due to "user error"!) and our 2 other PC's can run at the same time as the gaming is going on. We're ALL happier. We decided to stay "wired" vs. "wireless" because I kept reading how wireless can be spotty (which we experienced w/ a wireless in the past), and the router location is upstairs, while the gamer is down one floor. This was the perfect solution.
