i've had this modem for a month now with comcast HSI, the package i have is up to 15MB download and up to 3MB upload...im consistantly getting 25-28MB download and 3-5MB upload and i can only attribute it to the modem. install was literally plug and play, just follow the easy to follow steps provided and you'll be getting fast internet in minutes. dont settle for the modems the companies lease out...not worth itkeep in mind that this is a wired modem, so if you want wireless you'll need a different dlink modem...i think its the dgl-4300 or dgl-4500

Saw a significant increase in my download speed per numerous bandwidth tools. Replaced an old SMC router which was 5+ years old. Was working fine but my internet speeds seemed slow. The new D-Link router made a noticeable difference. A little pricey but worth the bucks, particularly if you're paying big bucks for high speed internet. Lots of flexibility with the tools too! I use the MAC filter to turn off the kids WiFi when they aren't playing nice. Highly recommend this router.

I am very happy with this D-Link DGL-4100 wired router (D-Link 4-Port GamerLounge Broadband Gigabit Gaming Router). I had a very specific problem that this router solved. I was previously using a Linksys BEFSX41 router (Linksys BEFSX41 EtherFast Cable/DSL Firewall Router (4-Port 10/100 Switch / VPN Endpoint)) I bought a few years ago. I bought a second XBox 360 recently and discovered that I could not play XBox Live where both XBoxes were online at the same time and were playing the same game simultaneously (specifically, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, one XBox would always indicate that it had a "Strict NAT" and one or both XBoxes would get unceremoniously kicked out of the game after a short play session). For my situation, this router solved that problem in an easy plug-and-play way without the need for any technical router configuration solutions, e.g, port forwarding or triggering, enable uPNP, DMZ an XBox, or any of the myriad (and unfortunately at times, conflicting) suggestions found on the Internet.Moreover, my old Linksys router would drop my internet connection sporadically all the time (once or twice every day or two) which required a process of unplugging and replugging the DSL modem and Linksys router to re-establish connection. No big deal once or twice, but a bit of a pain to do it ritually so often. I used to think it was because of my DSL provider, but since I have gotten the new router, there have been no dropped connections. On another topic, FYI, although reliability is improved, I did not expect nor did I experience any improvement in connection speeds (unlike another reviewer), in my case, it is comparable to the old Linksys router (as measured by [...]/speedtest and CNet's bandwidth speed test). Very happy with this router, because for me the best router is one that you set up and it just does its thing in the background and doesn't require much fussing and fiddling. I wanted to replace my old router (10 years old) with a new one. I had just got rid of the Comcast modem, and but speed was just OK, with internet speed being ~4 MBPS on a good day. With this D-Link, ~ 23 MBPS! I can use OOMA (phone service) on my system (with router first) and still get great voice. So a noticable 5 X improvment, and now home is faster than work!

So I had this old 10/100 D-Link broadband router/gateway (DI-604) D-Link Express EtherNetwork DI-604 - Router + 4-port switch - EN, Fast EN that I've been using since 2004.For no particular reason, I upgraded to this D-Link router to up my internal LAN bandwidth -The Web config gui certainly looks snazzier than the old DI-604, but I noticed that it's gui response is SLOWER.Second, the web connectivity also seems to be slower - or it takes longer to establish connection (Tho I can't speak for the bandwidth once connection is established).Then one day, my net connectivity starts to crap out Can't talk to gmail, nothing - youtube fails to come up.I was like whoa! Comcast issues again - right? So I look at the status window on the gui, and it says that the broadband is up. So from firefox, I can talk to the router, but not to anything else.Bizarro!After powercycle/rebooting the cable modem, the router, check the cables, then finally my PC - still nada - firefox can connect to the web gui, but nothing else. Wierd thing is that the internal ping to the router has like a 25% failure rate.Strange, right? Gotta be a cable issue, right?Nope - the router is crapped out - here's how I know. I then re-connected my old DI-604 to the cable modem, and the PC to the DI604 and lo and behold, gmail comes back up, etc...So I was like maybe its a gigabit issue? maybe my cat6 cables started to crap out in gigabit mode? So I take out my trusty gigabit switch (also from DLink!), and put it in between the PC and Di604 - and still everything is hunky dory.So than I put the switch between the PC and the GamerLounge (and the GamerLounge to the cable modem) and I powercycle all the devices -Cable modem comes up, gamerlounge comes up, switch comes up, web conf comes up and says its connected to the outside world, but ping to the gamerlounge still craps out.All I know is that one minute the gamerlounge worked (if slowly), then the other minute it started to crap out.Oh - and DLink has crappy support, so I'm out of a hundred bucks almost and have a fancy paperweight with blinky lights for my trouble.Avoid like the plague.

Does a good job of protecting your PC and runs everything in Stealth Mode. Only problem I am having with is setting up or getting a PS3 to connect to the Internet. The Router won't recognize the PS3 for some reason and the UPNP Mode does not work right, in turn your PlayStation 3 cannot get setup through the router. If anyone knows how to do this please email me on how to do it. Thanks in advance!

I have an extensive home network, including 3 desktop computers, 4 laptops, Wii, and various other gadgets, with several gigabit switches, wireless access point, and Cat5e cabling. All that said, I was just looking for a plain gigabit router without wireless, and this was the only one available that looked viable.Unfortunately, as soon as I switched to this router, my network started having all kinds of weird glitches. Everything would "work" - connect to the internet, transfer files, etc. - and would even register high speeds most of the time. But trying to FTP files would slow to a crawl, then speed up, then slow to a crawl again, websites would load fast, then slow, then take extra seconds even to find. I tried just about every setting and tweak in the router's configuration, but nothing made any difference. The log file was also showing thousands of LAN errors building up.Finally gave up and replaced this thing with a new Linksys router (with wireless), and all the problems immediately disappeared.Not sure whether I just had a unit with serious glitches, or whether the whole line is bad - but this is a warning to anyone that is experiencing, or might experience, the same issues. Don't waste a lot of time trying to track down the problem. Just replace this router.

We own 3 Xbox 360 units. I had been searching for a router (six months) that could handle the network traffic and provide 'open NAT' settings for all three Xbox 360 units simultaneously. For Xbox 360 owners with multiple units you know what I mean! This router provides 'open NAT' for all three units at the same time with a simple activation of UPnP in the router settings (set as a default actually). That's it. And now all three of my Xbox units enjoy 'open NAT' with all of the online capabilities available.Xbox 360 owners, this is your router! This router requires hard wiring, but there is also a comparable D-Link router that is wireless.

The unit would connect to the internet but the internal web server that provides configuration settings didn't work [...] produced nothing. Returned it to Amazon for exchange. I just hope the replacement is better!Amazon's return process is easy and quick.After receiving my second unit I found it wasn't to difficult to set up my static IP and port forwarding. They call it virtual server.I don't do any gaming. So now only time will tell if it works well or not.THANKS TO AMAZON FOR SUPERIOR SUPPORT IN THE REPLACEMENT OF THE FIRST UNIT!

Very pleased with this GamerLounge version. It was "plug and play" with the software that came with it on my Home XP network. It was worth paying the much higher price when compared to my old cheaper D-Link EBR-2310 Router. The old 2310 seemed to bottleneck when more than one of my family's computers were using our mid speed dsl connection. Could not use even limited P2P sharing without completely shutting down everyone elses internet connection. The 2310 would require resetting every so often too. Not the GamerLounge. I just downloaded software updates at the max speed my dsl service allows while my son was playing his on-line game on another networked PC. I have also been able to run P2P sharing (throttled back a little)on one PC, while my son plays his on-line game and my daughter watches a streaming TV show on their PCs.This router works very well and manages traffic at max. Very glad I bought this. Even though I will never be able to use it at its max potential with my dsl service, it gets the most out of what I do have.

Dollar to dollar, this network switch is better than Linksys product (Linksys is Cisco now). The stackable function make my user connections much faster. The web managment interface is more stable than Linksys (Cisco small business network products). I have been a Linksys user for 10 years but I'm starting to buy Dlink now.

Great product, more on the expensive side, but super easy installation. Hooked up the network with an xbox360 to watch netflix. Great connection and speed.

Really one of the best wired routers I've ever bought.I've got two Xbox's and two computers that I use. When me and my son play the Xbox, the router automatically sets the ports wide open, something my last router wouldn't do... at least without a fight which is why I bought this in the first place. This unit does exactly what it says it does. Best gameplay I've had in a looong time.Follow the simple instructions included... very easy to set up. Plug it up, set your pswd's from your computer and your ready. The router does all the work.If you've got any reservations about buying this, just know this. For whatever reason if I had to buy another one, I'd buy it again in a heartbeat.

This thing is nice. I was running xxxx brand router with integrated wireless and it would just crap out. It was good, especially for the money but couldn't handle the load. That's when I decided to upgrade to this, running wireless with a D-Link Air Premier N Dual Band connected to it. Zero drops, zero power-cycling. Havn't tried the gamefuel yet, but so far my network is running pretty nice; even when dling at 2mbs, while playing online games.

I signed up for [...] VoIP service but experienced bad call quality with my existing router (Linksys by Cisco WRT54G2 Wireless-G Broadband Router). The new D-Link GamerLounge router solved that problem for the lowest possible price.I guess this router is called "GamerLounge" because network games require a low-latency network connection. I'm not a gamer, but I appreciate the solid Quality of Service support (QoS), called "GameFuel". I can give priority to VoIP traffic, by assigning priority 1 to UDP traffic on ports 5060 and 5061. This solved my VoIP call quality problem.This is a wired router, with no Wifi support. Because my old Linksys wireless router was doing a good job for Wifi, I simply hooked it up to the D-Link router in "router" mode (rather than "gateway"). So the D-link is now doing Network Address Translation (NAT) and DHCP, and the Linksys only does the wireless connection. If you need a wireless router with QoS, take a look at D-Link DIR-655 Extreme N Wireless Router.Having it only for a week, I can't say much about durability. However, the router stay very cool in vertical position.The only disappointment with this product is that Amazon dropped the price just days after my purchase :-(

I'm accustomed to using open sourced firmware (DD-WRT, Tomato, etc) for their reliability and flexibility.I was pleased to find out upon use, how powerful D-Link's firmware is for this product.It offers practically everything most enthusiast users would need except hardware VPN.

Purchased this router to replace aging linksys router that could apparently only achieve a throughput of 7-8 Mb and with my 20 Mb service I was losing about 12 Mb of throughput. This router pairs well with my D-Link 8 port gigabit switch.

I had been experiencing communication problems in my small LAN: 2-PC's and 2-Printers. My cable provider exacerbated the situation by slowing during heavy useage periods. Even though I am not an avid "gamer" I opted for this router because of its speed and ability to handle heavy traffic. I did good, real good! Performance is excellent. The hanging and locking in my LAN has gone away. And even though the router cannot fix my cable traffic problem, it has absolutely minimized the hanging and locking that occurred there. Needless to say, I am very pleased with my choice and the products performance. The installation, in my case, was very simple because I replaced another router. I did not need to load any new software from the accompanying CD, installation text was sufficient. The couple of specific tweeks required for my unique configuration I did manually. Security from the internal firewall has also been very good and provides an additional important level of comfort. The router has been installed and running flawlessly for 6-weeks as of this writing. Even though the router has many more features than I use, the performance has fully justified the purchase. While snooping internally, I found accessing the router's internal parameters was very easy and D-Link provides exceptional "Help" for every parameter.

Works great so far. I have not been dropped from my friends party on xbox live like I used to be with my old router. It even gave me a better connection when looking for more games and playing. I would not say it was a tremendous amount but it is much better then what I was getting. I was hoping there was a little more information on configuring it for certain things, but it seems like all routers get confusing unless you are a networking guru or at least taken some classes on networking. Overall I give it a B+ mostly for better connectivity.

I got this router as an upgrade from a Microsoft MN-100 router. Basically the MN-100 was just too slow. Networking between our four home computers was too slow. And worst of all, downloading from peer to peer networks invariably caused the MN-100 to crash.Some people gave this DGL-4100 router negative reviews. I guess it all depends on what perspective you are coming from. For me, this router has proved to be everything I hoped it would be.The peer to peer downloading has improved tremendously. No more router crashes. The download speeds are now up to some 280 kb/s with uploads about one-tenth of that (my DSL connection isn't that fast, as you can see).I plugged in my existing Speedstream 5100 which I had gotten five years ago from my DSL provider and it worked fine. I'm not sure what the other reviewer's problem was with his Speedstream 5100 DSL modem. You do need to know what your DSL settings are. But, it's not that hard to set up a standard PPOE DSL connection - you just need to plug in your userid and password.I was also looking for some way to control the internet usage from the various family computers, and this router has an excellent set of Access Control tools which allow you set up any number of blocking schedules so that Internet access from certain computers on the network can be blocked for certain periods of time. The MN-100 had this feature also, but for some reason, it did not work reliably for one of the computers.There are also more sophisticated filters such as a web filter, inbound filter, and other filters that that I have not had a chance to explore. You can set the web filter so that it only lets through a certain list of websites that you enter in manually.One complaint that a few reviewers have lodged is that this gigabit router does not do jumbo packets. If you are a connoiseur of gigabit routers/switches, the ability to do jumbo packets does speed up the network traffic even more, but considering that I was coming from a 100T router, this one does network transfers so much faster that I'm not complaining.More recently, I expanded the number of ports available on this DGL-4100 by attaching a D-Link DGS-2205 5-port switch. This router automatically detects the devices plugged into the 5-port switch and assigns router addresses as if the ports on the switch were part of the original router. You don't have to input anything, just plug things together and it all works automatically.Overall, an excellent upgrade from my first ever 100T router. If you are looking for something even more sophisticated, there may be some nits to pick, but then you'll have to pay much more to get something with more professional quality.

I have used this router for 3 years now. In that time I have never had to reboot or reset the router.It works great with UPnP devices (xbox, windows home server, windows).In short, there isn't a better wired router on the market.

I'm totally happy with my DGL-4100. I followed the Quick Install Guide and was online right away. Pages often load instantly, faster than I've ever seen. And all the instructions (including the ones that explain the extensive options after I log into the router) seems designed to be as user friendly and helpful as possible. All in all, a GREAT product.
