I was told to upgrade from a G to an N router to get more speed. There is NO difference. Unless you already have or are prepared to buy an N network adapter as well, don't waste your money.Linksys by Cisco WRT120N Wireless-N Home Router

Installation instructions are worthless. This is a piece of junk. Unless you want to spend two days and hours researching online just to figure out how to set up this router I would advise you to stay away from this.

Tried for 6 hours to get this router to run. Was a refurb from Linksys. You would figure they could have tested it out. Never got it to connect to my Comcast Modem. Top "internet planet light" would light up and then after a second just do a rapid flash....could never get an IP from Comcast DHCP. Piece of Junk...to bad I did not read the reviews first.

The setup, configuration and connection took a while but was great.The following day, the router won't transmit any signal from the modem.I had to reset the modem and the router to be able to re-establish the wireless link-up once again.It does work great now albeit from time to time, I get disconnected, then connected again in a matter of few seconds.I do not think it's something of a major concern. Guess it's some slight design defect since this line of Ciscorouters is the first of its kind. Probably would need some extra touch or some sorta improvement from Cisco.From the way it works now, I believe it gets really stable with time. Dunno if its stability gets established with time. But i could say now, my wireless network with the modem is very stable!Data transfer is somewhat great. So, all in all, i think is a good value for the money.

The Router was not difficult to install but I called in and had the Service Tech walk me through it. I have a Mac computer and you do not do it the same as the regular PC. I love having the router now so i can hook up several things to the internet. It works great and other than installation it is very simple and easy to use.

If you're buying this for use at home and you're not a tech-savvy Cisco/Network geek, save your money and stick with Linksys access points... or at least be prepared to have a network geek swing by to configure it.That said, if you're tech-savvy or using this in a business environment with a good IT person on hand, these AP's are absolutely perfect in terms of functionality and form-factor.Configuring them is a bit intimidating at first, because there are TONS of options and features in the web interface menus, and you do have to do some hunting, because it's not all organized very well. However, rest assured that everything you'll ever want to do with these AP's (including private/guest VLAN options) can most certainly be done.As for the open WEP claim in the one review, I'll add my assurance that the claim is false. It does support WEP, but WEP is such a horrible encryption standard, and you should really be using WPA or WPA2.

This is my first router so it took me awhile to get it going. Once I learned to use "add devices" everything went well. About once a week I lose connectivity but not sure if its my digital modem or the router. Great power. Fast shipping . Streamline design is cool

well, the installation was a tad hard, in fact i got this second hand, after someone returned it to the store, because they couldn't install it. after fiddling with it for about 6 hours, i found out what to do. nowhere in the installation it says to press the reset button, which your suppose to do. after that, it seemed to work fine, but then it said connection error, so i downloaded the latest firmware and it seemed to work...for a few hours, then it went back to connection error. then i uninstalled it/reinstalled it, and it for, again for a few hours. i used it for about 5 days, and now all of the sudden all of these connection errors. i'd suggest to look into something else, just not this one.

good router. even though it says only for email and stuff i can get blazing fast speeds. this thing doesn't hinder your internet at all.

Just spent eight hours trying to get this to work. Support cost me another $10. Have had to reboot system many, many times for connection to work within 8 feet! Even their support mentioned. "Your computer is slow." Heck, not this slow. Avoid. Do not buy.

I bought this because it seemed to have the latest technology and was inexpensive. It works fine, except that a couple of times a week I can't get a wireless connection and have to go over and disconnect the power adapter from the unit and plug it back it. This always solves the problem. Not a big deal, but a regular nuisance that shouldn't be happening so I would not recommend this model.

I was having trouble with my Belkin G router so I upgraded to this unit. I was unaware of the wireless security changes when using "N" router. After a few long hours trying to get the password to work for wireless connection, now it works flawlessly with no drop in bandwidth. Great buy. Good range as well.

Great Router, Once you know how to set it up. I called Linksys on this and they NEVER told me this.Hope this helps someone, PRESS the button on the top of the Router WHILE you Plug it in until all the lights are on.That is the ONLY way I could get it to connect and talk to My Comcast Cable Router and pull an I.P. Address.After the set up I was\am amazed at how fast it is, 3 wireless pc's and a wifi Printer w\o issues.

I was about to purchase this router and then i read this review:[...]"Since the WRT120N can support only single-stream 802.11n, its maximum link (raw data rate) is limited to 150 Mbps--a fact that Cisco mentions nowhere in the product's web page, downloadable spec sheet or even its User Manual for the product."

I recommend this product. The 1 star review is incorrect. This device absolutely does support OPEN WEP (everything from open public network, MAC filtering, to full blown RADIUS servers), plus a host of other security types. In fact, this is an extremely feature rich wireless device for what the cost is.Note, if you want to support wireless roaming and mobility (jumping from one AP to another without re-authenticating) you will want to read up on WDS: [...]Also, these devices are not for the faint of heart. Ideally, you need to get familiar with Cisco IOS CLI before taking on too much, but I will say the GUI is pretty straight forward and even for a newbie a basic WPA single cell network could be setup in minutes :-)

The transaction- was great. The card was bad, I had to get a new harddrive-- took me 3 emails to get someone to respond. I sent it back and have yet to receive my money. Would never order from them again.

This review is primarily for home owners who are considering this device.The Cisco Aironet 113x WAPs are solid, professional devices. The 113x's are very configurable, and provide an exceptional feature set, reliability and distance -- even in congested areas. BUT: they require a very tech savvy consumer to configure them properly.Tech Notes:- This devices does not include a DHCP server -- the default config uses the DHCP server on your wired LAN -- there is NO default IP address.- If default configuration does not work, you will need to use the console interface -- you'll need a serial connection and understanding of telnet.- Securing the device requires an understanding of the difference between WEP and WPA and use of hex keys (no ASCII)If any of the above is confusing or scary, you might consider one of the Linksys WAPs (Linksys was recently purchased by Cisco). They tend to be more sensitive to traffic congestion and have lower range, but they are much easier to configure.

A fine access point. In use all over the world by Fortune 500 companies.I personally have installed several hundred of these and have only seen one or two failures.Superior radio,strong,spectrally clean.

I've tried linksys, netgear, dlink, etc. but nothing competes with this card. I always lose my signal with those other cards but this one always has a solid signal. It's expensive, but well worth the money. It saves lots of frustration.

The previous reviewer is incorrect with saying the 1131AG can not support even open wep.The Cisco Aironets are some of the MOST configurable AP's out there! They are NOT easy to set up, and without using CLI, they are even more difficult.Cisco's Aironets are great, reliable, and work extremely well.

This bus card is offered bundled with an external antenna but it does not accept one. Just to be clear.... you can buy the external antenna with the bus card but there is no way to connect the 2 together.

I have an older Aironet 350 802.11b card, and decided to upgrade to get the better range and speed that this card offers (not to mention full support for WPA-PSK AES; my 350 only supported WPA-PSK TKIP).I couldn't be happier. The client utility software has been simplified and made elegantly effective, and the site survey utility (once an option, now included) is a terrific tool for scanning the local environs and identifying Wifi access points. For performance and connection reliability, I don't think you can find a better Wifi PC Card.

I ordered the Cisco Aironet 1231 the other day, and after it arrived, set it up, and...couldn't get a wireless signal. I called customer support and was told I would be called back by a technician (which obviously the first person was not) within an hour. We waited...and got online to try to figure things out. Turns out that in VERY small print on an obscure documentation page of the 1231 it says at the very bottom that two external antennae are needed for the 2.4 GH wireless (802.11b/g) to work. I was even more disappointed to find out that the required antennae were available online for only $16 a piece, which makes Cisco look really cheap for not including such a small but vital item with a $500 router.Although it took an astonishing twelve hours for customer support to get back to me, since I registered my complaint with them they have been very helpful. I really hope that they improve their web site-it really is not that helpful since you have to weed through pages of documentation before you can even begin to find information you need. I still haven't used this router since I'm waiting for the required antennae I had to order somewhere else. Cisco routers are supposed to be good, but as a warning to you, the potential customer, be aware that 1) you need to purchase external antennae with this product; 2) my initial experience with customer service was pretty disappointing.
