Con esta cámara he obtenido imágenes de insuperable calidad, y por el precio, es mejor aún! Estoy muy satisfecha con mi compra...

I'm a Canon fan but enough is enough. The camera's Excellent, the lenses are Fair to Good, the AC adapter is a bad buy for the money.

Its LCD is bigger, picture quality at 4x zoom is better.Red eye has improved. But flash recycle time and shutter lag and low light performance is not improved. It has image stabilization but its useless.Anyway for $125.00 who will give your more?

Now, what is making me sell the camera and buy a different one is that well, the 5 pixels makes the pictures come out poor. And don't even try to take a scenery picture with this thing. But the main reason is that I have gone through 4 sets of batteries in one day. I wasn't even taking that many pictures, and was turning it off in between. What I think is ridiculous is that it doesn't even come with a charger, which was a very poor choice for Canon to make. One more downfall is that the display screen is a little small, it doesn't bother me that much, but I know for some people it would be a big deal.
Right now I am looking at the HP digita cameras, and they are all looking promising!

This camera is okay. The photos taken indoors with flash are often dark and a bit grainy, especially if the zoom is used at all. I'm rarely happy with the way my indoor shots turn out. It does best outdoors - those photos have much better color and brightness. However, in auto mode it does a poor job with moving objects - they always blur. I have to play around a bit with the other modes to see if I can get better action shots with it.
In summary, this camera isn't as good as I hoped, but it's better that having no camera at all.

Jersey!
I had been pricing this camera at stores where I live in Southern California,
and the Beach Camera price was far better and I got FREE SHIPPING!
Shipment was quick and easy - I recommend them highly!

This SX100, however, is another story. It is solid, the zoom is smooth as can be and the LCD is a lot crisper than the A570. Plus the picture quality even seems a little better.
My only complaint is when you screw a tripod mount to the camera it covers the battery cover. I nearly always use a tripod and I don't store my camera with the batteries in it so when I want to take them out I have to take the tripod mount off too. But this is relatively minor and I'm sure I can get used to it. While it certainly has enough manual controls to be used by the professional, most people will probably just use it as a point and shoot anyway so this wouldn't be much of an issue.
If you are thinking of going with the A570, and you can possibly swing it, I would recommend spending the extra money for the SX100. The trade-off you get in quality is worth it. Most retailers are getting $300 for it, but I bought mine from Adorama for $235 plus shipping. Amazon doesn't seem to have it in stock right now.

I am impressed with the camera. It is packed with features. On the upside, it can manual focus (I was surprised) and do many other things that my DSLR can do. While most features are easy to use, on the downside, I spent some hours reading the thick manual to determine how to do uncommon things like lock the autofocus and exposure. The manual is quite excellent, so I found out what I needed to know. It just took some time.
As compared to an old Canon DSLR, I found the following pros and cons.
PROS:
FULL-FEATURED for a power user
Latest DIGIC III processor
Compact
Video
Price (especially on Amazon)
CONS:
1-2 second lagtimes
Sensor noise is noticeable for ISO 400 and above
Plastic body
The Canon SX 100 will be my everyday camera to photography family and take in the car whereever I go.
If you are interested, I posted a few shots on this Amazon website. I hope they show up.

This camera replaced our older Canon A70 (3.2 megapixels) which was, in most respects, an older version of the A540. The 540 upgraded us to 6 megapixels, 4x optical zoom (instead of 3x), more options for manual exposure control, a larger LCD screen and only half the batteries (two AA instead of 4 AA) for less weight and a smaller, lighter camera casing.
GENERAL REVIEW:
We've used the A540 for about 3 months and it is as good as I expected. Even with only two batteries the battery life has actually been as good or better than our older A70 that required four batteries. (We compared battery life using the same generic NiMH AA rechargeables from our A70.) As with our older A70, we have a significant amount of control over the A540's exposure settings. My wife most often uses the simple point-and-shoot full-auto mode while I tend jump between various auto and manual settings depending on the shot. We also make great use of the video recording feature -- quite nice when a full-on video camera is not handy. [...].
PROS:
- Impressive number of exposure options for advanced users.
- Operates on standard AA batteries.
- Battery life is very good even when using flash and LCD screen.
- Optical viewfinder in addition to LCD means you can turn off LCD to save battery life or to make camera use less distracting in a dark room.
- Highly-rated for image quality.
- Can add (some) additional lenses and/or filters if desired using a lens adapter.
CONS:
- Can only use SD memory cards up to 2GB in size. With memory prices continuing to drop it would be nice to be able to use a 4GB or 8GB card in the camera. This would be especially helpful for recording longer video clips.
- The A540 ships with a tiny 16MB memory card that only holds about 10 default-resolution photos.
- Card slot shares same area as batteries meaning the batteries will be loose when inserting or removing the memory card. Not terrible but I find it annoying compared to our older Canon A70 that had separate areas for batteries and memory card.
- We replaced our older Canon A70 due to problems that developed during it's 3rd year of ownership. The A70 was well-cared for. If we expect the A540 to be similar in other respects to the A70, we have to expect that it ay also develop age-related problems sooner than anticipated. However, we liked the A70 so much that we bought another Canon despite our eventual A70 problems.
