I really like this printer, and I'm glad I picked it from the competition. If you use the included software, the photos print just like they look on your computer screen and are excellent quality in terms of color and resolution. (If you print from photoshop or some other program, you may have to spend time adjusting the colors of your files to get them to print correctly.) Also, the ink cartridges are ~$14 each and you need refills rather frequently. I've also had a hard time finding these refills-- it seems that these ink cartridges aren't as popular as those for other canon models and are often sold out or hidden at the very bottom of the shelf.

I have read some of the reviews about color and paper issues. I just got mine yesterday, and was very nervous about buying paper to feed it. After considering the things I read online, I was going to spend the extra money and go with cannon paper, but decided at the last minute to try office depots pro matte finish paper that was far less expensive, and came with a return policy if I was not satisfied. I threw about 10 photos at the printer, trying to test it in as many ways as possible, from black and white, and vivid multi-colored complex pics, nothing I did would cause it to produce anything other than stunning photos with depth. Bottom line, for the price, I could not be more satisfied, and would love to see a printer in this range put out a supperior photo. I am not a pro, and I am sure that there are settings that I have yet to even play with, but for printing right out of the box, this was to easy, good job cannon. (BTW, I am a Nikon man at heart, own the F-100 and D-100, just could not find a printer by them, although, I did not look very hard) PS, I did make the mistake of printing a low resolution(400x800)photo on 8 and a half by eleven, and that did not work so well, but the same pic at much higher resolutions, came out perfectly!!!!!

The print quality of the Pixma is fine--I have no complaints. But the reason I downrated this model is because the manufacturer has gone to extreme lengths to prevent the user from using any inks other than their own. My previous Canon, i960, allowed the use of generic inks. We all know WHY the companies do this. Frankly, it would be more honest to ask more for the machine & let us use whatever ink we prefer. But, hey, this is America, & it'll never happen.

The photo output of this printer is really quite good except for one GLARING problem - the overwhelming redness of flesh tones. A lot of pictures of the baby are coming out like he's scalded or badly sunburned. This leads to a tremendous waste of paper and ink, not to mention effort in trying to adjust for this problem. Even a call to Canon TS didn't solve anything. Apparently, I'm not the only one with this problem. I would love to return this printer if I could... Too bad I stocked up on a bunch of Canon paper already. Any suggestions for a fix (besides the usual calibration, red tone slider, etc.)? I would love to try the MP series, but this experience has really soured me on Canon printers (I love their digital cameras though - bought 3 within the last year).My Epson 300 and even the 3810 perform much better with good picture output all-around.

Great quality pictures and prints. Lots of options with software too. But the ink?...Expensive and very hard to find. Be sure to have at least 3 black and 2 sets of colors when you have this printer. It will use it.

First of all, these consumer reviews are the best and twice now have helped me to either rectify a bad purchase decision or make the right decision first time. So thanks to all who take the time to contribute.This printer is EXCELLENT in almost every respect. The quality of the printed images is unbelievable - even on 'standard' output. It far exceeds the quality of the Epson RX500 we were using previously. Its FAST. We print in 'batches'; sometimes as many as sixty 8.5"x11"s at a time. This printer is an absolute dream. To have superior quality photos run off at speed is very very valuable to us as a small business. So far, ink usage appears better than the Epson, but only time will tell and we have only had the printer a week.The reason I gave this printer 4 stars and not 5 is because we operate a small network of computers with mostly PCs, and one Mac. The printer is hooked up to one of the PCs via USB as a 'shared' printer. Although the Mac can see it, it can't print to it through the network (unlike all the other printers we have owned, including the Epson). My suspicion is that this is due to a driver issue since the printer model isn't available through the Print & Fax function when the remote printer is being selected. It IS available when the Mac is hooked up directly to the printer, without going via the network.Knowing this, would I make a different choice of printer or take this one back? Absolutely no way. The advantages of this printer are so far superior to anything else we could find on the market at a reasonable price-point, I consider it worth the inconvenience to the Mac user (who is me!). Great printer, and fingers crossed a 'fix' will be available soon to rectify the network issue.

this printer is a steal for around $150 u.s.ive printed tons of berderless prints and have not had to clean it yet. all my prints have been clean.separate ink color cartridges are great too. doesnt waste any ink. in fact ive spent more on ink and paper than i did on the printer. about 3 times more.its a pretty solid machiene and very easy to use. you dont even need a computer. in fact its easier to use it without one.

I have had mainly Epson printers starting with the 760 and 770 series and was happy with them. Then when I bought my iMac it came with an Epson C86 that was noisy and ended up dying after about a year. It also looked horrible, like a plastic bubble. I then wanted to try Canon as I have always been a Canon camera user and found someone selling an unopened i6600D. After owning now for about 6 months the looks and quality of the prints compared to the C86 is much better. Build quality is much better. The printer is also very quite. Sometimes I can't even hear it printing. Overall I am very pleased with the i6600D and will stick with Canon.

This is my third Canon printer and they keep getting better. The PIXMA i6600D is fast and quiet. The text quality is very good and the photo printing is the best of any brand printer I tested. This machine only confirms my loyalty Canon.

I was excited to get this "new" printer, only to notice that someone already wrote down the serial number in the manual. I smell re-furb. This printer leaves verticle voids in the printing, which is repeatable and NOT due to clogged heads. There is something really wrong with this one. Canon Help Center happily offered to send me a refurbished printer, in place of my "new" one, or suggested that I personally take is to a service center. How absurd to suggest either choice at my expense? I am returning this printer direct to Amazon, asking for a replacement. I can only hope that I get a truely new one.

This printer does a nice job and prints out very good photos, but, if you alter or enhance your photos with photoshop and then try to save them to disk and print then it will not work. You must only be able to do your editing in the printer, not a convenient way to do editing. Overall I would give it a 3 out of 5 due to lack of editing ability.

I like this photo printer. It is compact and relativley lightweight; and, best of all, it produces excellent prints. It is relativley easy to operate for a dunce like me. I like doing my own prints versus sending them out to Costco or some other source becasue, I can do the editing at the photo printer and can do it over and over agin until I get it just right. If there are short-comings of this device it is the 40-45 seconds it takes to produce a picture. The upside to this issue is that the printer produces excellent prints.

I love this printer! I have owned HP printers in the past, but never a photo printer. I did a lot of research before choosing this printer and I couldn't be happier! I am a fanatic about my pictures being photo lab quality (it took me a long time before I went digital because of that), but I love the quality that comes right out of this printer.I have only used the Standard printing level and have been thrilled. I did a comparison between Canon photo paper and some photo quality HP paper and I found that for this printer it is best to use Canon paper. The photos are so crisp and clean! Also, the printer came with a sample of Canon's best photo paper, Canon Photo Paper Pro - Super High Gloss and it is very nice, but I found the less expensive (in price only) Canon Photo Paper Plus - Glossy to be just as nice. You can not see a difference in color or quality. Also, they both have the weight and feel of lab quality prints.If I had any complaints, it would be that I agree with some other reviews that say sometimes the pictures have a red hue. In the printers defense, my pictures were slightly red, but the printer only made it worse. For cases like that, I would just tweak the pictures in my photo software first.All in all, I would highly recommend this printer to anyone!

I am not a techie - and don't ususally write reviews - just glean from others. -- But I have to tell you - this Pixma 6600 is THE BEST!! - I've had it about a month. I took it out of the box - plugged it in and photographs are perfect - self-made business cards look professional. I needed a greeting card and this wonderful machine did BOTH sides automatically, quick as a wink! -- 'Can't speak to ink useage as I've not run out yet - but the cartridges will be worth it for this quality of output.

I dearly love my canon pixma ip6600D printer for my scrapbooking hobby. The photos are of photo lab quality. It allows me to print up to an8 1/2 by 11 picture of great quality. I also have a canon compact photo printer CP220. It limited my pictures sizes to only a 4x6 while the quality was okay. Since I have had my pixma, I haven't even used the CP220. I would recommend this printer to anyone wanting photo lab quality pictures.

Excellent printer. Quality is #1. I was concerned when I read the other comments about the speed of printer. But the speed is great. Product is wonderful.

Like another reviewer, I bought this printer as a replacement for my trusty old i850. Which never so much as hiccuped. With 5 crisp clean sheets of paper in it I went about the business of printing out some directions. First sheet fine...Second sheet inspired wailing , moaning and gnashing of teeth. All hell broke loose as gears began to grind and screech. I also recieved the mysterious ERROR 5110. I still haven't summoned the energy to deal with it as I am taking my lumps for buying a sony DVD writer and don't feel like fighting two tech support battles at once. But I'm not looking forward to paying shipping to get this lemon fixed. Admittedly my first canon dud and I have bought 1 SLR and 3 digital cameras from them as well. C'mon Canon.

This is a great printer for a customer who wants to print photos only. It gives you the variation of color with the photo cyan and Magenta, and it also has many features that other printers don't. First it has the ability to do Duplex printing (or printing on both sides of the paper), Second it has dual paper trays that accomidate for not only 4x6 (featured in most HPs) but 5x7,& 8.5x11 as well, Third it has the clear inktanks, you see how much ink you're getting. I enthusiastically recommed this printer to all that are printing photos. Why would you not want this printer for printing text? Why waste your photo ink by printing text? This printer does not have the Contrast Plus system. What is the Contrastplus system? This is a system of using 5 ink tanks. There are 4 dye based ink tanks(blk,c,m,y) and one Pigment based black ink catridge for your text. This pigment based ink cartridge gives you laser like quality for your text. If you are looking for a normal text/photo printer, then look at the Canon IP4200 & IP5200.

Not the fastest printer, but it is a good solid home printer. With the seperate carraterage for bordersless 4/6 precut.This printer also does a nice job on grayscale printing.Again there are better printers on the market, but for general home usage as well as printing out photes for around the house this printers is a great value for the money.

Color pictures are excellent and very simple to set up. Since I use seperate software to edit pictures I can not comment on the printers editing features. I have a Canon scanner and digital camera. So far Canon products have not dissapointed me.

I bought this printer to print 8*10 photograph in a temporary photo booth set up at a recent local festival. I used with a 4 MP camera and a notebook. I must have printed more than 110 photos over a two day period.The photograps were stunning, to say the least. Every time someone looked at the printer in operation, they would give it an approving nod. The facial detail, and the texture of the clothes the subjects were wearing came out clearly. The color saturation and tone was great. The photographs were true to life. The Photo Magenta and Photo Cyan inks provided superb subtelties to the photograph.Replacing individual ink tanks was easy. The indicators tell you how much ink is left in each cartridge.The typical printer functions have been mentioned by other reviewers and I am happy with everything the printer has to offer.

I did a good amount of research before buying this printer. After seeing that it got a top rating from cnet.com and itp.net, I splurged and bought the iP6600D. I just got the printer today, and set it up in about 10 minutes. Print graphics on plain paper is quite good, and the photo printing is outstanding. I just printed a 4x6 (on photo paper) from my camera and it looks the same as the photo lab, not a pixel in sight. In the photo, someone is wearing a shirt with a very long quote on it, and you can read every word even though the letters are small.Nice Features:1) Large LCD screen for photo previews2)The user's guide provides step by step instructions on how to remove each type of paper jam, which is very handy, and has solutions to almost every error message that can pop up.3)The printer also performs duplex (two sided) printing, a very nice feature for conserving paper.4) The ink cartridges light up when inserted, so you know that you installed them correctly.5) Very easy, step by step install.6) Options for casset tray printing, so you don't have to use the open paper tray.7) All trays tuck away neatly, so no worries about breaking small parts when moving or dust settling in the printer.

Unless you're willing to spend 350-400+ for a wide format photo printer (13x19 or greater..i9900 or others coming out soon), this one will do the trick for 8x10 or less. LCD viewer in middle will also serve as a cardreader for your pictures and send them to your PC.Yes, ink will cost you some when you run out, but it's an inkjet. Which printer doesn't run out of ink? At least it's 6 tanks which separately don't cost that much.As for paper, canon typically does cost more, but the Ilford brand found at SamsClub prints great especially on canon printers which is all i've used in the past 12 years after giving up on HP inkjets. Haven't used other papers besides kodak brand which were awful.

I love it...The print quality is amazing looking. Im very pleased with the print plus color quality of pictures. If you're buying a printer for the first time i would highly recommend a canon but also this one because you will love it! I have alse compared prints from ordering online from a store to my new Canon PIXMA iP6600D and of course the pictures i have printed at home are even much more better looking,
