I purchased this printer a few weeks ago. I chose it over a similar HP model because of the duplex printing feature. It automatically flips the paper around and prints both sides of the page and also keeps multiple copies collated...very neat! I am very pleased with the photos it prints. I like the 6 seperate color cartridges but don't have enough experience with them yet to evaluate cost savings in the long run.My usual printer preference is with HP as I am still using one that must be about 10 years old and is pretty much trouble free. I hope the Canon gives me equally good service.

Easy to set up, works like a charm. This printer is being used by a teenager and no complaints from either parent or child. The ink system is also great.

The only complaint that I have is the cost of the ink. I have printed several pictures and the quality is excellent.

If you're looking for a low-cost printer that prints REAL photo-quality prints on high-quality paper, this IS the one! I have printed photos on Epson, HP, and Lexmark, but none approach the quality of prints coming off this machine. It is remarkable. For the price -- heck, even for a higher price -- this printer outperforms everything I've seen. I don't know how one could do better.4X6 prints come out in about 10 seconds. Quality is indiscernible from lab prints. On heavy (9 mil or greater) glossy paper, it produces photos that are beautiful, unmarred, and perfect in every respect. No skewing, no weird lines, nothing but pure fidelity to the original image. It's as close to perfect as I could imagine.However, if you intend to do anything other than photo printing, be ready for third-rate text rendering. I printed documents with color and black text, and compared with an HP DeskJet, the Canon is weak at best. I was surprised that a printer that could do such a stunning job with photos did such a low-quality job printing text.I'll keep my HP DeskJet 1220c for text. My Canon 6600d for photos. Both are the top inkjets at what they do best.

I bought this printer to replace a Canon BJC6000 that had been having some problems. I noticed that it didn't include a USB cable in the box, so I ordered one at the same time as the printer. No problem there.It took about 5-10 minutes to get it up and printing. I've had it for about 1 1/2 months, and I've been extremely pleased with both the photo and text printing. Photos may not be quite as sharp as a print from a good photo lab, but they're damn close, and the color saturation and accuracy are also very, very close. Likewise, the text may not be quite as sharp as a good laser, but it's close enough that you have to look closely to tell the difference. This is such a huge improvement over my BJC6000 that it's not funny. It's also much better than the Epsons and Lexmarks I looked at, and at least as good as any HP I saw.

This photo printer get's more then 5*stars, I GIVE IT***********************************.I have a digital camera(6.1) & was trying to print photo's out of an all-in one printer(so they say it prints good photo's LOL) and the photo's just were not right(color was off,lines though the photo's ect...). I don't know if any of you have had this problem. But any how back to this KICK BUTT photo printer, the photo's come out looking like what you would get if you develop them at the store. GREAT for Scrapbooking, & doing fun things with you photo's.With PC or with out PC(to just print photo's) VERY EASY TO USE, very easy(my 11yr son use it). WELL WORTH THE $$$$$$$$$$$$$

Did not buy this printer from Amazon.com because I found a better deal at Office Depot's post Thanksgiving Day sale for 125.00 after rebates but I will give my opinions here for the IP6600D. For this price I can live the shortcommings of the lower tray paper problem expressed by others but what's wrong with using the upper tray because you can only load one 4x6 at a time anyway and it is much easier to load the upper than the lower it has worked fine for me and just use the lower tray for 8.5x11 sized plain paper. As for printing quality for this price I don't think it gets any better for out of the box with minimal adjustments on settings, I am not an avid picture printer but this is just so easy to do with this printer. As for ink cost I think these tanks are larger than most and should provide longer life, I went to Canon's web site and found some interesting facts about amounts of pages per ink color and was very impressed although these were color sample test and not real life picture prints still the numbers of pages per tank were quite impressive. As for Canon printers this is my first and I am a happy camper.

I purchased this printer as a replacement for my Canon i860. The i860 still works great but the promise of longer print (ink) life lured me to the iP6600.Initially, prints looked magenta/red. Other reviewers have mentioned this. A few emails to Canon customer service got me a replacement print head at no charge. (If this hadn't worked they offered to send a replacement reconditioned printer at no charge.) The new print head seemed to do the trick and I'm satisfied with this printer. If the printer had been as good as the i860 out-of-the-box, I would have given it five stars.Prior to owning a Canon printer, I owned two Epsons. Never again. Image quality was fine but the constant head cleaning made me go through so much ink! I also like the image quality of HP photo printers but why, why, why do they require you to swap out the black ink cartridge for photo grey? Just another way to waste ink...

Just today I ordered the 6600D online to replace my old Canon S900 (great printer!), which used the Canon BCI-6 line of ink tanks. Part of my decision to buy this printer was that I spoke with a Canon rep on the phone who told me that the 6600D will take the S900's ink tanks. Just before my S900 crapped out I had ordered 18 BCI-6 compatible ink tanks from an online site and I didn't want to have to just get rid of them. Besides, I have always liked the idea of changing out individual color tanks--more economical. I believe the tanks for the 6600D have been renamed CLI-8, but as I said, according to the Canon rep, the BCI-6 tanks will work! And they can be found cheap on any online ink supply site. We shall see . . . I'll post again to when I find out. I don't even have my new 6600 yet--I had to rate this item before submitting this review--so I just chose 4 stars randomly.

This is a great printer and the photo prints are perfect. Very easy to use this printer. I really like being able to have photo paper and standard paper loaded at the same time.

I'm not a big review writer but I had to leave a comment on this printer. We just got it and I love it. The pictures are beautiful. Someone had mentioned a red cast to the pictures. I had this too and it was easily fixed. I followed some instructions on Canon's website (can't remember exactly what they were but they were not difficult). I definitely recommend this printer.

This printer is VERY easy to use. The quality of the prints it produces are indistinguishable from those you'd receive from a first rate print shop. My technological challenged wife loves it and is even able to replace the print cartridges! Changing paper sizes and types is a snap.

The printer was very easy for me to set up and install, if I can do it anyone can. The quality of the print is excellent even on plain paper. I have not explored all of its possibilities but will be doing so hoping all continues to be as easy and satisfactory as it has been so far.

I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the photo prints from the PIXMA iP6600D. Good saturation without being cartoony. Smooth prints with the Canon Photo Pro paper. Great options whether printing from a camera or from the desktop. Quick, too - I have a G4 Quicksilver Mac with only USB 1.0, but 4x6 borderless prints take less than 30 seconds to come out. I have had trouble getting good prints from Photoshop but that probably can be fixed by fiddling with the color profiles. Better documentation on how to fix colors from different applications would have been appreciated. Still, a great printer for the price.

The PIXMA iP6600D photo printer is the quintessential printer. Your photos will impress and everybody will want to know what photo printer you have. This PIXMA model makes you a creative artist. I wouldn't want another brand other than a Canon. I own this printer and I was convinced upon receiving my first developed photo that Canon need not worry about the competition. If you want a photo printer that is going to make you #1 with photo enthusiasts, the PIXMA iP6600D is the only way to go.

Duplex printing, big preview screen, multiple photo input sources, good speed, very good photo print quality, fairly quiet, separate ink tanks... The list goes on. My only suggestion is a built-in Ethernet network port

I have tested and/ or used three (3) different such printers and found that this was the best one by far.

I've just started using this printer. So far I can say it is an excellent printer. I'm pleased with the product, and with the service received from amazon.com.Sam Green.

I really like this printer. It prints out wonderful pictures that come out just as good, if not better, than the ones I have printed at a photo lab. It does text just as well. I haven't used the PictBridge function yet, as I have to have an adaptor for the kind of card my camera uses. This doesn't bother me as I usually edit my pics on the computer before I have them printed. I was a little dissapointed with the ink cartriges. It seems Canon has had them chipped and I haven't been able to find any cheaper generic cartriges yet. The brand name ones aren't really that bad in price. They range about $15. But over all, I think this printer is great.

Before I bought this printer I was ify about Canon. Canon printers seem to take forever to start up after turning them on and took awhile to start printing, which made them a bit nosiy. Well, when I went to a store and printed photo and text documents to test this printer...I found it to be wonderful! Unlike the previous models before it, this printer does not take forever to turn on or print, but is fast all around.Photo: I think the photo quality of this printer is perfecto! It's fast and the pictures come out as good as the photos processed from an 1-hour photo place. Some think differently, but I disagree. Besides, you can't pick the type of photo paper you want at a photo place...so it's all good.Text: The text is rich and deep. I love it because text and graphic documents come out looking sharp!Overall: Quiet, fast, user friendly, colorful photos, rich text...it's b-e-a-utiful!

This printer is great. Better than most of the Epsons I tried. It's built very well, too.Also there is a way to enable DVD printing...use your imagination (ie google :) )

I'm a Canon fan. I bought this printer as a replacement for an old Canon i850. Brand-new, out-of-the-box, the 6600d produced photos with an annoying red cast. Photos would require a lot of guess-work in post processing to reduce the red so the prints would come out correct. Most of the time, this 'correction' caused photos to have a green tint, so you'd have to go back and try again. Totally unacceptable. An internet search turned up a number of owners who experienced the same red cast problem.I returned the 6600d and bought an Epson R320 which produces much better prints with no additional work. For the record, my monitor is color calibrated, and the red cast happened regardless of what photo editing software I used to print my work.
