This is the best compact camera out there for everyone. I got it for $299.99 at Frys.Even at an auto mode, the pictures looks pretty sharp. While the manual mode take some time to get top-notch picture for certain situation, you should be very please with the auto mode fine picture setting. I don't understand with the low ratings from people. Maybe they didn't bother to learn all of the features to get the best of the camera. It requires a higher learning curve than with many typical point-to-shot cameras. Too lazy to learn this camera, use your smartphone camera.

Truly disappointed. Opened box, took out camera and turned it on. The dreaded Lens Error message popped up. Lens would not retract after shutting off and restarting a number of times. Returned.

this camera is miles ahead of any comparable model that came out on the market around the same time. Image quality is FANTASTIC. The IS is wonderful. The control ring is SUPER handy. The build quality is awesome. The 1080 HD video is crispy. the super slo-mo is fun (although can't be done in HD). One little complaint, canon seems to have done away with stop motion video on their current compact digital cameras. I kinda miss that. otherwise, i couldn't ask for anything more from this camera!

Just back from a dive trip to Turks and Caicos. Overall, the case worked well, although I had a few issues. Condensation is a problem when using the flash, which I did a lot. Tried using a small desacant package, but it kept moving around in the case when I wasn't using the camera. Seemed the pack ended up in the flash compartment, blocking the flash when I would turn the camera back on, or it would block the screen. Also, I had set the control ring on my S100 for changing the compensation. The knob on the camera case was difficult to use and did not move the ring easily. On the plus side, the case is dependably waterproof - made dives to 100' without any problems.

The printer is a larger printer than the one it replaces(another Canon). The packaging was excellent and this truly felt like a very nice printer, especially for the price, the components open and close with smooth motions and don't slam down. The manual was well written and easy to follow. The wireless worked perfectly once set up which took the time to download the updated driver from Canon, though I'm sure the disc would have been fine, and a short install. The drivers for Linux were included with CUPS and I was surprised that the wireless worked absolutely effortlessly(actually easier than Win).Printing was crisp and the color range was nice, the ink cartridges were full cartridges and I liked the ink trays(?) for this better than my previous version because this one seemed to secure the ink against shaking a bit more.I do not use the fax/phone feature and will update about the document feeder as I test it.My laptops run Win7, one is a Dell(Win7 Professional) and the other an HP(Win7 Home) my desktop is running Lubuntu with Cinnamon DE. No Mac to test it on, but they do offer Mac specific drivers.I am very pleased with this so far.

I have a dslr and bought this camera (actually, 3 of them: 2 for work, 1 for home) because it's exactly what you NEED: decent sensor, fast lens, great processor, extensive controls (or none at all: just take the picture, dammit!), jpg for quick, clean results and raw for lossless archival. If you're not sure which one, or features, etc. remember the words of Cartier-Bresson "Life is once. Forever." and spend the time saved from searching to actually USING the camera.

The camera is fine, it does exactly what it's supposed to, but I cannot tell much if any difference between the final photo quality of this camera compared to any other point and shoot. Maybe I don't know the magic settings. Maybe point and shoot product differentiation is all hokum. Next time I'll spend half the price on a different point and shoot, or upgrade to a DSLR. This price point is not a good one.

Canon does not put much effort into making sure there products work after they are bought. Scanner on this printer worked fine in beginning. I had to get my computer reimaged. and there is absolutely no solution to making scanner work again. there code gets integrated into unknown parts of windows and really messes stuff up.

After only 6 months of use this camera is dead.I'm victim of the general Canon lens errorAmazon won't apply a warranty, you have to deal with Canon CSNot a recomendable camera

I've read many reviews that pointed this camera as the best point and shoot camera. This is really outstanding. I've never seen a small size camera high so many resources and especially image quality. Night shots with ISO are very good. The only thing that I didn't like is the flash movement. I still must get used to the flash rising in the corner of the camera where I used to hold the camera.

I am a semi pro photographer (stock photography) with a Canon 5D and a nice collection of L lenses. This little camera is of course not as good as that settup but is very good none the less. Because of it's small size it can be easily carried in a front pocket, thus getting far more use with greater convenience compared the 16 pounds of gear I usually carry around ( that heavy gear is staying locked in the safe more and more since I started using the s100).The things I really like- small, RAW capable, decent video, good zoom, decent image quality and size (iStockphoto accepts shots with this camera all the time for me and they can be extra large), inconspicuous for more candid editorial shooting and simple family photos.Many mention the battery life problem, so far, no issue for me, but I charge it before each use as instructed. I have only needed to put in my extra battery once and that was on a 10 degree day skiing.Any noise or quality issues are easily taken care of in Lightroom.

Brought it in Thanksgiving. Cheap for this camera. About 220 dollars. Even though I want to buy a big one, it is still a good deal.

takes great photos. Easy to use and it is relatively robust. The only negative thing at all about this cmera is that the iso locks to 80 on any exposure over 1 second which makes it useless for night photography.

You can tell a lot about the product when you pull it out of the box. Does it feel solid? Do the parts fit? Are the edges finished? Taking this printer out of the box, everything about it felt cheap. However, once I got it set up it did look pretty good. So long as you don't start picking it up or feeling around the edges, it gives the impression of a decent quality product.The documentation is a nightmare. It refers to a "network installation cable". The cables in the box are a USB cable, a phone cable, and a power cable. You can search the printer itself, even take it apart, and you won't find a network connection. From this you may infer that the "network" cable is really the USB cable. This makes no sense as a USB connection is also possible and it is also the "USB Cable". To set up the network you need the "network installation cable" to run the set up software. I tried several times with the USB cable attached, and the set up wizard kept failing to find the printer. It would state that I needed the network installation cable, and it kept detecting the USB cable.I tried installing and reading the manual. Alas, the manual installation process was kind of wierd. It was not just a simple matter of reading a pdf. Once I got the manual installed it started referring to some utilities that were not visibly to be found on the installation disk. I went to the canon website and started downloading network installation utilities. Nothing worked. Finally I shut off the printer and fully rebooted it. Then I tried again with the installation disk. Finally it treated the USB cable as the mysterious network installation cable and I was able to get the wireless networking set up.Then I tested the printing. Its OK. The black and white is pretty poor - reminds me of an old inkjet printer. The color is better.I hate the paper handling. Putting paper in the back where it goes in like a typewriter never works that well and leads to paper getting bent.I'm not a big fan of ink jet all in ones, but this printer seems similar to others in its class. If you want a cheap color all-in-one, this printer is OK.

I'm a Canon fan. I usually have noting but positives about their cameras and I upgrade yearly. Always Canon.As usual I replaced last years Canon S95 with Canon's new S100. Expecting upgraded enhancements and slightly better picture quality. Not so...Yes, it would be a very good point & shoot camera if it was available for less than $400.00.I pushed mine towards 1000 shots and most were slow (yes, I used a EXTREME card) but the worst feature is the pop-up flash. You have to be so careful not to have your hand or finger over that area of the camera. In fact, I had to disable the flash to cease it. This isn't only a uncomfortable situation but with your finger or hand over the pop-up flash, it feels as though it is stripping the gears of the flash.It's just fair on colors; slow to focus and slow to process.
